I've eaten here twice. Seems like some things have changed from the first time for food quality. My shrimp tacos were disappointing. Loaded with rice on top and the shrimp was very small. It tasted ok but I won't be ordering shrimp tacos again. I like that they have a salsa bar where you can get limes, radishes and some additional spices at your discretion. Same with the drinks. I found this time the horchata to not taste good. My friend noticed too so something was off from the last time we were here. Service was ok. Food used to be good but not anymore. I was given hard tortillas and the pozole had no meat just fat. Looking for a new place to eat.

While service was friendly and our plates looked good (I ordered 2 cheese enchiladas with rice/beans) it was not very tasty. I only ate half, plus the shredded lettuce and tomato slices. That was at 715pm. By 230am it was very clear I had food poisoning. I would assume the lettuce and/or tomatoes as my friend had exact same food order but did not consume those - and no food poisoning. For this reason, I'll not ever eat there again in Camas and doubt at any location again. read more

I ordered the Berria plate and there was a skimpy portion of beans cold rice and the goat meat was mainly gristle parts and bones there was no sauce. The beans were flavorful but there wasn't much of them. Overall it was very disappointing and there was a sharp little peace of bone in the rice which thankfully didn't cut my mouth but it could have been dangerous. On 2024-05-12, from Don Taco through GrubHub I ordered a carne asada taco, a shrimp taco, sides of rice and beans and a $3 side of what Don Taco described as "Guacamole A creamy dip made from avocado". The two tacos and the rice and beans were quite tasty; very enjoyable. On the other hand, the so-called "guacamole" (see photo), while meeting their definition: it was creamy and a dip, certainly didn't seem to have been made from even a modicum of avocado. If something is "made from avocado", how much avocado is actually necessary to meet that definition? Can the guacamole be labeled "made from avocado" if a mere 10% of it consists of avocado? What if only 0.001% of the guacamole is avocado? Technically, it's still "made from avocado", right? But would you still call it "guacamole"? In any case, the so-called "guacamole" I received from Don Taco can do nothing but give a (terribly) bad name to guacamole and to avocados all over the world. It's not that it had "turned"; it didn't seem unhealthy or tainted or stale. It was basically green liquid, slightly thicker than milk, not in the slightest bit reminiscent of every other guacamole I've ever had in 65 years of life (most of that time living in Southern California, a mecca of Mexican food). It's impossible for me to imagine there was any real avocado in this batch of Don Taco's so-called "guacamole". Are there any more bad aspects to the so-called "guacamole"? Well, yes. The actual amount of so-called "guacamole" could not be considered worth $3 on any planet. With help from Google's Gemini Large Language Model, I roughly calculated its volume to be about 2.8 ounces. Not a whole lot... Finally, the date and time on the receipt were also divorced from reality. The date said 2024-05-10 instead of May 12. The time said 02:28 instead of 4:37 pm. As I'm in the same time zone as Don Taco, I'm having a problem with their less-than-accurate record-keeping. Soooo, unfortunately, I didn't take pictures but the tacos here are great! I had the siracha chicken, the Forrest gump bubba shrimp, and the land & sea shrimp. The ranking of favorite to third, but good, are ordered accordingly. (Tip: I think three to four tacos will be the sweet spot to being satisfied.) The service was great. We were greeted upon entry and taken to the upstairs portion. Our waiter was friendly and had all the good recommendations on tacos. The parking. Don Taco was surprisingly and pleasingly spot-on! The food is delicious, the menu is extensive and varied, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the service is friendly and super quick! My wife ordered the veggie burrito (it was huge), I ordered the carnitas chile verde plate. My food was rich and had a really amazing flavor, served hot and fast! First time here. Hands down among the best Mexican restaurants in the area. Ample parking and lots of seating inside. Nice dining room. Had cocido which came with three handmade tortillas (woman in the corner cranking them out). Service was fairly quick considering it was lunch rush. When I am out of sorts, getting a cold or just need comfort food the Posole at Don Taco calls my name! It's hearty, filled with chunks of pork and loads of hominy and comes with chips (or corn tortillas) and lots of toppings. The rich spicy broth warms your belly and your soul! The tacos are good, the burritos, and the enchiladas are delicious. My grandson discovered the Nacho Fries and was so excited. Every time they come to town he wants Don Taco at least once. Go for the tripas tacos. Those alone are 5 stars, so crispy and delicious. The tacos are generously filled and not only a good deal, but delicious too. We ordered a few burritos as well and they were alright. The California burrito was stuffed full of carne asada but didn't have guacamole which I'm used to in a cali burrito. The Diablo had a good flavor and decent heat, but could've used more. I wasn't a fan of the Chile relleno burrito, unfortunately, and I'm still on a quest to find a decent replacement in the PNW for the ones I used to enjoy in SoCal. I also ordered a bean and cheese burrito which was missing from my order. Bummer. We ordered delivery and it was all very hot and fresh when it arrived. No small feat considering it's trip over the river. Salsas we're decent, but again could've had a little more kick. Overall I'd go back and/or order again! I've come to this restaurant for a lot of years and at least spend 50 to 100$ everytime my husband and I come to each.Recently we ordered menudo and my hubby found a facial hair in his food.Of course we called to tell them and they gave us another at no charge.So we go back to pick up another menudo and order carne asada plate.Sunday at 10pm the employees say they dont have any carne asada.i ordered chile rellenos and the employees say no chile rellenos.Finally the 3rd plate I ordered they where able to make.I thought that was sketchy.so we sit down to enjoy our drinks and food we ordered.I was eating and noticed 3 other customers ordered carne asada plates and where served and this point im very upset felt like they didn't want to serve me what I wanted even though we ordered at least 50$ of drinks and food.So I continue eating and notice the employees sweeping and making dust and spraying toxic chemicals while im eating.I had to get up and leave because I was coughing.I dont think employees are properly diluting chemicals for cleaning and not considering sweeping and dusting whiel people are eating.I tried to give this company so many chances and am very disappointed I will not be eating here anymore read more

Don taco is one of my favorite Mexican fast food spots in all of Portland/Vancouver. They have generous portions, the food is fresh and the prices are still reasonable. This restaurant is located in close proximity to a thousand other Mexican restaurants and this one is by far the best. I really like their chile rellenos and they prepare it in a way I've never had before..... My hands down favorite go to breakfast is chilaquiles verdes; I'm very picky when it comes to this dish! the whole dish has to be the right crunch, heat, flavor; don't get me started on the sunny side egg; when I tell you that I was NOT disappointed ... I was NOT disappointed! Absolutely delicious great flavors, the egg was the right amount of runny! The only reason I'm giving them a four star, my husband was not impressed by their menudo! It wasn't meeting the mark! One more thing, the restaurant should do something about the flies. In fairness our first try was on a triple digit day; their AC wasn't working! which is why doors where open; however we went back a few weeks later and the flies were still there! First time trying this place! Really good portions, decent price, really good food. Out of the al pastor, carnitas and carne asada I thought the carne asada meat was especially tasty. But the Birria was something else!! The meat was fall off the bone tender and the plate we ordered was huge. I'm going to be honest, I was too hungry when I showed up here and didn't even read the menu when I ordered, so I originally wanted Birria tacos. First of all, I simply ordered a meatless burrito. Just potato, cheese and eggs. It was over $8. No sides or anything. Pretty pricey compared to most restaurants of similar caliber. It wasn't tasty. It was a huge burrito and I can't stand it when they do that because most people wouldn't be able to eat the entire thing so many people will toss it if they don't refrigerate it afterwards. Waste upsets me. Let's not be pigs as a society. They should offer large or regular sized items.... or if meatless, charge a little less. Service was fine so they get a 2nd star. read more

The food is really authentic Mexican. I've missed good Mexican food since leaving California, and when we finally found Don Taco, it was like a little piece of home. For me, the carnitas burrito is the best. There are some other places that make decent, even good carnitas, but no one compares to Don Taco. Just the right crispness on the edges, with that deep rich meat that you sink your teeth into and you just have to groan with pleasure. The tortillas are handmade and incredibly yummy. Usually go in to get food. The food is good for the price. They sometimes forget to give you stuff. I forgot this detail when I ordered delivery and didn't receive 2 of the items I ordered. And they didn't give me the right size on the drinks. Had a difficult choice to make, either go in and get my food or order for delivery again and pay for it again. First, the service. I walked in and it was BUSY. Not surprising for a Sunday after church, but you could tell this was the place to be. Ordered my food to go and sat down to busy myself with my phone for a while. 15-20 minutes go by and I am checking the counter here and there to see if my food is sitting there. It was also loud, so I couldn't quite hear when orders were being called. Whatever, I'm occupied by my hand screen. Eventually two of the ladies who had been running the register come check on me and what I ordered. Turns out when they called it, some other guy walked up and took it. They apologized profusely, made me a replacement incredibly fast, let me take ALL the salsas and insisted that I have a free drink. Which, seriously that was the most flavorful, cinnamon filled horchata I've ever had, so I'm appreciative they did that. The food, delicious flavors, super satisfying.
