Not great, completely underwhelming. We've been searching for a new Mexican restaurant in the Camas area for a while now. Decided to try Los Potrillos last night. Parking is overwhelming. Poor location. Terrible parking, you're fighting with a hotel, an urgent care, a driving school, and a sushi restaurant. Good luck easily parking. The restaurant / bar is just, messy. Decor everywhere but so much of it that you feel overwhelmed. Service was friendly but slow. We sat in the bar and the bartender took 15 minutes just to take our drink order... I get he was busy chatting with the other people at the bar but he completely ignored us. The fajitas were basically terrible. They were so awful, we joked that they likely came out of the freezer section of the Sysco truck. From the time we ordered to the time food hit the table was just a couple minutes. Totally a microwave / pre-fixed meal. Nothing was fresh. Taste was awful, we didn't finish and we declined to take a box home. It's overpriced. The menu is confusing. The cleanliness is lacking. Their "salsa" was water with chunks of gooey tomato and completely tasteless. The chips were stale. They brought this free salad stuff with the salsa that was questionable. It's not often I leave a poor review. Unfortunately, I cannot give one positive thing about our entire experience. We will not return. read more

Oh boy...not a great experience. Ordered dinner to go for pickup. Upon arrival I walked in and no one was at the host station. Made eye contact with multiple servers at the bar area but no one made an attempt to come over for the 5 + minutes I stood there. Finally someone from the dining room section came over and helped me get my to go order. I got the tostadas with ground beef. It was very soggy, maybe because I had to stand there for so long waiting to be acknowledged. The dish didn't have awesome flavor, pretty lacking, nothing special. Their salsa had so much onion it was almost funny. Unfortunately I was not that impressed. The other dish that we ordered were shredded pork tacos and that was probably the most flavorful thing, slight saving grace.. I will likely not return, quite disappointed. read more

Unfortunately, this would better titled House of Onion. My wife and I usually grade family Mexican restaurants on their salsa and it was onion soup in watery, thin, tomato paste. We ordered fajitas (steak + chicken) and the plate was a solid 90% onion. Then the guacamole...you guessed it, big chunks of onion! Haha. My wife and I were actually laughing at it cause it just didn't seem real. Service was average to below average. The ladies were really kind. The gentleman servers looked like they didn't want to be there. Atmosphere was very poor. Very loud. We won't be returning. Wish them the best though! read more

Gave this place a second chance. First time, about 5 months ago - terrible service. Guy made us feel like we were an inconvenience by being there. Second time, bartender saw us walk in with only one customer at the bar. He just sat there talking, ignoring us and others waiting for someone to acknowledge us. About 10min passed and finally someone came to the front . Sat, waited, waited.... service was slow, fine. Maybe they'll make up for it with yummy food! But the food... oh, the food. Beyond bland. Not sure how you can make the refried beans taste like water... but mission accomplished. Plus, $8 for beans and rice! Jesus! Prices are for a Michelin star restaurant. No flavor at all. We sat there for about 20min after eating, after our plates were taken, waiting for our bill. TBH I'm not sure how much longer this place will be here. My hubby and I were seated and greeted immediately. The young hostess was cheerful and welcoming. Very, very soon after being seated, the chips and salsa were sitting in front of us, begging us to just blow our diets- and so we did! Of course, I had a house margarita. It was delicious and one is plenty. My hubby had two, frosty and quite satisfactory beers on tap. Our food arrived quickly, which is good, because the staff passes out those chip refills and we'd consumed mass quantities! The chips were warm and salty. The salsa was good, but not fantastic. However, they do also have a salsa with crunchy cabbage, onion, tomato and some delicious dressing. There are also a few jalapeños. Hubby ordered #16 which was a Beef Chalupa and Enchilada. You can pick your own protein. The plate was H.U.G.E! It would've fed a family of five easily. It was served with rice and beans- you choose black or pinto. He did just cheese and enchiladas and was quite happy with the savory flavor these foods provided. He cleaned his plate. I had Shrimp Fajitas. A few months back I reviewed a different Mexican place that kept the shrimp tails on when served. When the plate is as hot as this was, along with the hot food, it's difficult to remove a shrimp tail. I had to ask for no green peppers because they ruin every meal they're in. This is served with rice, beans, cheese, sour cream and guac along with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. I did flour. Hubby ended up taking my rice and beans. My husband and I had ZERO complaints or concerns about this place. It was crowded and bustling, which made my heart happy! Sergio was our server and he was great- very, attentive, funny and works hard to keep his customers happy. This is definitely my favorite Mexican food restaurant. read more

Casa Carrasada was $29.. little pricey!! It was good jut over priced. Didn't show in the menu Bar waitress was extremely rude and you could tell she likes her regulars. I'm a businessman who travels all over the country & she should not be making a 1st impression.. I won't come back to this place while I'm working here because of her. I hesitate writing bad reviews. But this one deserves an honest review. Walked in on Sunday 8/28 at 11:20am. Stood in lobby for 5 minutes. No one came to front. We knew that the restaurant didn't open until 11:30 but it was hot outside and we were willing to wait. Young girl comes around the corner. Surprised to see us standing in the entry. Asks how we got inside. We told her that the door was open and we were just waiting for them to begin seating. She then asked us to leave because they are not open. I told her that they "open" in 2 minutes, we had already waited 8 minutes at that point. She said "you still need to leave". So we left. We won't ever be back. Rude young lady. Horrible customer service!!! Someone needs to teach these younger kids how to deal with customers. Especially in a time where word of mouth and social media posts can either hurt or grow your business. read more

Food was good, beans were really tasty. Family friendly - food came quickly and we were checked in several times.

To start this off, it's okay. That's the best I can say. I've had take out from here first during the pandemic, then after restrictions lifted we went in person. This review is about the in person visit, as it feels unfair to judge a place on take out food. We were a party of three. One of us (me) was born and raised in Texas, the second (my partner) lived in Texas with me for 12 years, and the third was our friend who is our pal from Chicago (eh? lol). We walked in and there was this caricature of a Mexican person with the sombrero/mustache, all of it...which felt...off putting. But I'm white, so thats none of my business. We were seated and a man came over to take our order on an electronic device. He clearly would have rather been doing anything than waiting a table. He was aloof, kinda gruff, and when I ordered the menudo he said "Really? Okay..." which I tried not to take personally but felt like something you shouldn't probably say to a customer. The hot sauce was mild at best, but not terrible. Just kinda watery. My menudo came and was quite good, tho the service was terrible. It was an act to get anyone to get a refill on our beers, and we never saw the same wait staff more than once. My partner got the fajitas which were equally bland (the rice was bland, the meat was under seasoned). And the dessert (fried ice cream) was nothing like the fried ice creams I loved back in Texas. This was a completely cold ball of ice cream that had corn flakes dusted on it. If it had ever been fried, it was not today. Overall, there are much better places in Vancouver to go. The food wasn't bad, and honestly my menudo is the only thing making this not a two star (cuz it was good). But the service is terrible. read more

Huge portions! Customer service oriented. Asked for a custom bean dip, they made it and was an average charge! Good margaritas, only reason not to be a 5 star, was a bit bland! No Horsing Around, This Place Is A Definite Neigh ... I Mean Nay I do not know what happened since 2014 when Los Potrillos ("the foals") was selected "Best of Vancouver" (award in the entry), but if this is the best Mexican food in Vancouver, the bar must not be set very high. It was not the worse Mexican food I have eaten and there are more shoddy Mexican restaurants in southeast Clark County (there are two in Washougal), but this place is the poorest "value" by far. Prices are very high by Mexican restaurant standards with combo plates running $13 to $15 and meat dishes (carne asada, carnitas, etc.) in the $17 to $19 range. One of the few positive things I can say is that the service here was very good. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly and efficient. Only the margaritas have prices listed on the menu with all of the other mixed drinks, beers and wine displaying no prices. I do not know about you, but I am not going to ask how much a drink is and I refuse to order one not knowing how much it costs, so I normally bypass the alcohol at places like this. Because the margarita prices were listed, I decided to try a medium ($6.50), blended with salt. It was a decent size and not bad with a slight kick, probably being the best value on the menu. My very small side of guacamole was $4.99 ("Market Price" - price not listed on the menu), the consistency was odd (probably cut with a cheap filler of some kind, probably mayo), and the flavor bland. $2.99 would have been a more realistic price based on the fact that it was probably made with less than one small avocado ($1 retail). The chips were most likely out of a bag, stale, and room temp - YUK - the salsa was oddly sweet and they were accompanied by a plate of cabbage with a couple of slices of jalapeño on top. I ordered a large combo ($13.95 plus 75¢ for shredded beef on my taco - $14.70 total) with a chile relleno, cheese and onion enchilada, and shredded beef taco. The taco, like most places in the Portland metro area, came on a pre-fab shell (a large one nonetheless) with too much lettuce and not enough cheese - WEAK. I could not tell the relleno and enchilada apart by appearance and the flavors were nearly identical except for the green chile in the middle one. Both were somewhat flavorless. For someone who loves good Mexican food - me - Mexican restaurants in the Portland and Vancouver metro areas have been a massive disappointment. There is a decent taqueria near our house and I found some pretty good Mexican places in Gresham, Tigard, and Tualatin, but, otherwise, there is a dearth of good Mexican food in the area. Unfortunately, this gringo can make better Mexican food than the supposed experts, so I will likely continue to eat at home, especially with inflated prices like those at Los Potrillos. I asked my brother where the best Mexican food in town is located. This is where we went last Friday night, and, to be honest, Los Potrillos in Camas EXCEEDED my expectations, in every possible way! Let's start with the clean, comfortable, and inviting atmosphere. At around 8:30 pm, the store was filled with the sounds of people having a good time and the smells of some enticing dishes being prepared in the kitchen. We were greeted quickly and seated ourselves at the bar, which only had a few tables open. Not surprising, considering the hour at which we arrived. Our server was Shy. No, for real. That's her name! Lol. Shy was warm, attentive, and a consummate professional. Honestly, she was everything but *shy*, but I won't hold it against her! The appetizer was the Guacamole prepared table-side. What a tasty (and incredibly fresh) experience that was! Now, if I'm to be honest here, I'm not typically a "Margarita Guy"... I usually order a beer, and sometimes I like a glass of whiskey on ice. But even so, I went ahead and ordered the Jalapeno Margarita... OMG, y'all! I can't really put it into words... Other than DELICIOUS! You really must try it. Even if you're not a margarita fan. The Cammarrones La Crema was epic. Rich, flavorful, and loaded with tasty shrimp! We have been going to Los Potrillos in Camas since they opened, and have never had a bad experience. Of all the places we get takeout from during COVID restrictions, they do one of the best jobs of packing the to-go orders to keep them hot, but not soggy. Last night I had the Camarones a la Diabla and my wife had the large platter with chili Relleno, tamale, and taco. We added a couple of their Cadillac margaritas, our favorites in town. The food was still hot when I got home, the margaritas had enough ice in them to be cold but not watered down, and we enjoyed the food very much. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, and we always feel welcome. Dine-in or dine-out, they remain our first choice for Mexican food in Vancouver/Camas. read more

Chicken carnitas came with beans, when the menu online specifically says served without beans. So that was an unpleasant surprise. And now they'll go to waste. ‍ My husband's 3 shredded beef tacos with lettuce and cheese were made with hard instead of soft shells, but they fixed and he said they were "pretty good." As indicated by many of the reviews, the customer service was horrendous. However, the main reason I'm writing the review is to express my concerns about the cleanliness of the food preparation. My entire party became I'll after eating there. Thankfully, the vomiting and diarrhea lasted only 24hrs. When I respectfully called to tell the restaurant what happened, the person on the phone essentially told me to kick rocks. While our experience occurred several months ago, I felt compelled to write this review today as a neighbor of mine recently got similar food poisoning from this restaurant. I understand and sympathize with businesses as they struggle through COVID-19 and the pains of reopening. However, COVID-19 shouldn't be an excuse to treat people without decency and respect. I hope they read this review and consider making changes to how they do business. read more

Apparently this restaurant is not "a taqueria," according to the man who took my order.. thank you sir...The man who took my order was extremely rude and took offense to my order of asking for the sauce on my burrito to not be over the top. He then said, "so you want to be able to pick it up to eat it" I responded yes. He proceeded to tell me that this isn't a taqueria although it might look like that. Dude, its also the fact that sauce on top makes burritos soggy AF and I would like to save half for later and not have a super soggy tortilla.  Their food is the most bland Mexican food I have ever had. I think taco bell has more seasoning than this burrito.  I would rather go to a taqueria because at least they are POLITE, don't question how I like to eat my food and their food is edible.
