I have nothing be great things to say about this spot. Farm to table with amazing service and wonderful atmosphere!! I recently moved to the area and I have eaten here twice now. My first experience was for brunch. My boyfriend and I had the biscuits and gravy and the chilaquiles. So much flavor!! There wasn't a drop of gravy left on our plate! Our drinks were on point as well. I'm not particularly a fan of bloody Maria's but my boyfriend always orders them and make me try it. This one was delicious! Perfect balance of spice and flavor. I may have to order one for myself next time. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We sat at a table right under a skylight which was lovely. I went back with a friend for dinner and once again was not disappointed. The cocktails were fabulous! Perfectly balanced and way too easy to enjoy. Our appetizer of the steamed mussels was to die for. The coconut and curry broth was the perfect combination of flavors. We considered drinking it straight from the bowl! We ordered the sea scallops and hanger steak for our meal and fell even more in love. The presentation was beautiful and it tasted as good as it looked! The scallops were prepared perfectly. The saffron and vanilla bean cream sauce paired with the perfectly prepared risotto melted in our mouths. The hanger steak was very tender and flavorful. The combination of all of the flavors on that plate are what dreams are made of. The goat cheese fondue was so unique and full of flavor. We couldn't get enough of it. Angie was our server on both occasions. She is very knowledgeable, friendly and perfectly attentive. From someone who has been in the industry myself, good service is hard to come by. Angie clearly believes in her chef and is proud to be one of the faces of this restaurant. The food may speak for itself but Angie make the experience exceptional! We will definitely be going back. My husband and I went here for dinner last week and were blown away. We started off by ordering for appetizers the cauliflower steak, octopus and beet salad. Each was artistically presented with perfectly made sauces. I loved the touch of the locally sourced micro-greens on top. We split the monkfish which was the special that night. It tasted like lobster and had a sweet and mildly spicy mango chutney. The chef went from table to table introducing himself. He was so interesting and informative and truly appreciative. The interior is elegant and relaxed. It is dark and cozy and really makes a nice place for a romantic dinner for two. I love the log cut tables - it is really unique and beautiful. Happy here! Great spot for an indulgent- and yes, that also means pricey in this case- date night. We knew that in advance and were thrilled the meal was well worth it. My swordfish was soooo flavorful and well-spiced without being over salted. Hubby's prime rib was cooked to perfection; whatever the creamy sauce was around it- also very grand. The goat cheese mouse in the beet arugula starter salad was an extra special and delicious touch. Appreciated our server Megan. She was timely and allowed us wine snobs to sample a few of our options before choosing. The wine list was decent, btw. Quaint little spot on Main St in the heart of downtown. We enjoy the Dungeness crab and brie dip to start and could barely finish our dinners. I had the Dungeness crab and brie encrusted ruby red trout, the flavors were amazing in this dish. I had not had trout in a very long time and it was so good. All the food here is excellent. We took half of it home and ordered a banana cream pie to go, and we ended up with a carrot cake instead. My partner and I went here for Valentine's Day. We made reservations about two weeks in advance, and got a beautiful table by †he windows overlooking the streets of Downtown Vancouver. They were very busy as expected for a holiday. Waitstaff was extremely friendly and gave each couple a rose- an extra special touch. We had the steak at poivre and my partner said it was DELICIOUS, and was one of the best steaks they've ever had. I had the butter poached monkfish, and it was SO.FREAKING.TASTY. We felt the fresh, local ingredients and wonderful food was well worth the price. We have been to WildFin several times, and felt we much prefer Elements to a giant chain, with less quality ingredients. We will be continuing to support local business like this one, and found it well worth the wait. read more

This was my second time at Elements today. The food was good but my 2 stars is due to the service. Our waitress only checked in once after we got our food and the girl filling my water ran out of water and said she'd be right back to fill it up. She never came back, luckily I had a water bottle with me (I wasn't drinking anything else except water with my meal). When it came time to pay we asked to split the check and our waitress Maria neglected to mention that they charge a $3 split check fee for every split transaction. So my friend and I paid $6 to split the check between the both of us. When we questioned the charge we were told there was nothing they could do as that was their policy and it was in the fine print on the menu. If that's a policy that really only they have Maria should have told us there'd be an extra fee. We would've paid with one card had she made us aware. Due to the service received today as well as them taking an item I really went there for off the menu, I don't think my friend and I will be returning. It's also weird because my friend goes all the time and has never been charged a split check fee, so not sure if it was a new policy. New or not that should always be communicated. read more

If you're looking for a great place to have a romantic meal, this is the spot. The atmosphere at Willem's was cool, calm, and intimate. The servers seem like they know EXACTLY what they're doing which is always a nice addition to a dining experience. It is a bit small even though the have upstairs seating, but if you show up at the right time it'll feel like you have it all to yourself. The fact that they source locally is a perk (but with prices to match.) My partner and I chose to try Willem's for breakfast on Saturday morning. We were looking for hangover food but instead we found this place, which was much much finer than what we could have hoped for. The food we ordered was seasoned and cooked to perfection, leaving us both extremely full and extremely satisfied. Overall we were very impressed with the service, setting, food and drink. Great place for a nice dinner! I came here with my family on a Friday night and it was surprisingly empty. The service is very friendly, although our meal took about half an hour to come out. However, one of the dishes was the half roasted chicken and it was definitely roasted to order so understandable that it took a while. We have the spaetzle, which had wonderful flavors, and the prawns were well cooked. The chicken was tender and also well-flavored, but not overpoweringly flavored. The pear salad was delicious, with lots of fresh, local ingredients and all the flavors and textures were well put together. Overall, a nice spot for dinner, although not super quick. Went for dinner and half price bottle wine night with my husband on Thursday. So glad the new owner expanded the wine list. Price on wines is reasonable and especially good when it is half price. It was a busy night and almost all the tables were full. There was only one waiter, but he was moving swiftly among tables. We got pork belly for appetizer. Mole sauce was very tasty. I ordered king salmon and he ordered scallops. Both were cooked well and tasted delicious and fresh. Owner came to our table and chatted with us towards the end of the meal. Told us his plan about happy hour and cocktail ideas. He then had the waiter make us a delicious margarita, spicy one. We loved it. They are very accommodating, and did I mention the food is wondrous? Because it is. I like going in and having the chef prepare something for me. I've gotten incredible dishes that way. This was our first visit to Willems as it was recommended by the decorator shop a couple of doors down. We love trying out small local restaurants and were excited to sample their food. We went during the local Vancouver Art fair and the chef was outside with some tastings. As I am allergic to MSG (monosodium glutamate) in food I asked if they cook from scratch. The answer was a resounding yes. We were not too sure about meat served with polenta, but we wanted to give it a try. We ordered two different dishes to share, the chicken wrapped in prosciutto and served over polenta with jus, and pork loin served with a cherry and bacon reduction over polenta. The flavors of the meat were outstanding! The chicken was so incredibly juicy and flavorful and just simply cooked to perfection. However, if we had known the breast had a bone on one end of it we probably wouldn't have ordered it is neither of us is a fan of meat off the bone. We're also not huge fans of chicken skin and there was a bit, but the dish was still amazing and I would order it again, minus the polenta, even if there was a small bone. The pork loin was also delicious and it was our favorite. So tender, juicy and bursting with yummy goodness. When the waitress stopped by and asked how. our food was, we said the meat was fabulous but we were not fans of the polenta. She let us know that we could have traded it out for their mashed potatoes. I think if we had ordered the meat with the mashed potatoes we would have been glutenous fiends and probably licked the plates! The chef stop by the table to ask how we were enjoying our meal, and we let him know that the meats were amazing and very flavorful, but we were not fans of polenta. You could almost see him shut down emotionally, like he didn't appreciate our feedback. That was actually the only negative note of our whole visit. We were not saying the polenta was bad, just that we were not fans. I think it's one of those things that you either like it, love it or are not fans of it. We found the staff to be very helpful and informative. They were also quick to share the weekend brunch menu with us when we asked. The brunch is something we will definitely return to try out. ( No polenta anywhere to be seen!) We were not in the mood for wine on a hot day, but their wine list looks very tasty. We did decide on their homemade cherry ice cream for dessert. My sweetheart found it to not be flavorful at all, while I did enjoy the frozen cherries. I actually appreciated that it was not as sweet as many of the ice creams at the grocery store. If I had it to do over again I think I would have picked a homemade brownie or pear crisp. The cost of our meal with two entrées and one shared dessert, plus tax, came to $48.78. We both agreed that the meats were the best part of our dinner and something we would return for. We are also very interested in trying their brunch, lunch and happy hour. Sadly, something did give me an MSG headache. I'm wondering if it is in a chicken stock or something they made the sauces with. But, you know what? The meats were so delicious I would probably eat it again knowing I was going to get a minor headache! read more

This is another little favorite of mine. Service is always exceptional and the food is outstanding. The menu isn't very large but they often have very nice specials. My favorite appetizer is the potato gnocchi which both my wife and I just love. my favorite entrée would have to be the pork loin. It's succulent, juicy goodness. They usually offer rock fish as their fish of the day - another great choice. However, there is one dish I get almost every visit; their Fettuccine with slow cooked meat ragu sauce. It's to die for and tops my list of what to eat at Willem's. They also have a Sunday brunch I'm told is awesome. I'll be checking that out soon enough...enjoy! read more

First, I am giving Willems 4 Stars because I filtered Yelp by price for 1 & 2 $ and this one came up. It is definitely NOT in that price category. Most entrees were in the $22-27 range, which we did not expect. That said, the atmosphere, service and food was definitely in a higher price level, and it was awesome. Once we got over the fact that we were committed to a $50+ meal + drinks meal, we enjoyed it! The chef came over and asked how our meal was, and shared with us his recent purchase of the restaurant, culinary background and inspiration. I had the Rigatoni w/Sausage, where the sausage had incredible flavor and a little kick. My husband had the Spaetzel w/ prawns, which he loved as well. read more

Upon coming in wanted to sit with my hubby on the same side of the table at a 4 seater, was promptly told to move to a 2 seater, even after explaining our desire and despite the place having 3 other 4 seaters empty. One reservation coming in was the explanation? Rude to say the least. Bloody Mary's were pretty tasty if a bit skimpy on the garnishes, 2 olives. 7/10 Both ordered the Croque Madame. One egg on top of two split 1/2 sandwiches. Ham looked liked plain sandwich ham warmed up but the taste wasn't bad. Nice simple side salad. Bread was crusty and difficult to cut but tasted ok as well. Ok service, except for being told to move. Big faux pas for this reviewer. read more

My wife and I celebrated my birthday at Elements this evening. What a gem, the service was fantastic and the food was excellent. They even had a birthday card on the table for me when we arrived. My wife had the Coca & Chile Dusted Beef Tenderloin and I enjoyed the Lamb Shank Oso Bucco. Both were delicious. We started the meal off with the Crab & Brie Fondue, the best. So creamy and delicious, don't miss out on that. Plenty of food to bring home for dinner tomorrow night. Chef Sosa stopped by our table to check on us. Defiantly a five star evening. read more

First off- our server was so considerate, kind, and thoughtful! The food! Absolutely delicious- everything we had. Husband had the NY Steak brined in whiskey and honey (scarfed it down immediately.) I ordered the fettuccini but apparently tonight they subbed for Penne noodles, still very good but we boxed it up for later and ordered the Apple cider pork with savory bread pudding and they were outstanding, complex, and exactly what I was looking for.
