I met up with a good friend for a coffee catch up and we decided to extend our gathering into lunch and she suggested Pacific House. It was relatively quiet for a Thursday at noon, but the area is undergoing major street improvements which is likely to affect crowds. It was open seating and we had plenty of choices to choose from. Service was prompt and guardedly friendly. I ordered the nachos because, when faced with a choice that includes nachos, I always choose nachos. They were on the cold side. As I got deeper into the nachos, I encountered a grey, slimy mush which I scraped off and ate around. We didn't have the menus any longer and I couldn't recall if it had beans or meat. I didn't mention it to our server because I wasn't able to look at the menu until I got home. I realize now that was supposed to be the guacamole. I'm all for reducing food waste and I know avocados are expensive, but this was not the nacho dish I thought I was paying for and not something I would want to eat again. We split our bill in half and noticed that there was an additional credit card surcharge on each of our slips. It was not called out to us when the we paid and neither of us could recall seeing that charge specified on the menu, but we didn't look that closely. Pacific House is a staple of downtown Vancouver. It is a solid place to grab lunch or dinner. We discovered Pacific House about 3 years ago when we first moved to this side of the bridge. We landed for a few dinners and enjoyed the food every time. They have a solid menu with excellent food. Their salads are all excellent. The Tuna Melt, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Strips, and Fries are all excellent choice. You can't go wrong with any of those. Service is always friendly, we love the staff. Very attentive and professional. Ambiance is fine, it's a sports bar... however, it can get extremely noisy. Being hard of hearing, it can kill the ability to have a conversation. I want so badly to give it a solid 5-star review but the drinks kill me. We were there late one night and they were refilling the "top shelf" with plastic bottles. Just not cool. Couldn't figure out why every time we go for dinner, we both were hungover the next day. Well, we solved it. Watching them pour a plastic bottle of gut-rot gin into a bottle of Sapphire was a dead giveaway. We even watched them mix two different vodka brands into one single bottle. We have had many dinners with drinks (that we were upcharged for) in the past three years but that was the end of dinner hour for us. read more

This is place is a sports bar that was also (likely) decorated by women, making it lively and inviting to all. I came during happy hour and took advantage of the good deals by getting the kale caesar, the smoked tuna sandwich, and the dirty fries. The salad unfortunately came with romaine and wasn't anything special. The sandwich and fries (loved the peppers on top) were both solid options. The real standout is the banana bread pudding. Started with a mocktail which was amazing! Not expecting anything life-changing ordering a mocktail, but I was wrong! Ordered the goat cheese balls to start. They have a perfectly fried outer shell but soft on the inside and the tomato jam was a great contrast of sweetness. Elk tacos are fabulous. Love the little kick of spice. We preserved our party of Eleven (up to 20). ELEVEN out of eleven breakfast orders were terrible. All the food tasted and appeared (except fresh cooked eggs) cooked the day before and reheated, EVEN the toast! Pancakes couldn't even be cut with a butter knife let alone a fork! Ham on the pre game was two pieces of Canadian bacon you find on eggs benedict, small THIN, round, the sausage was two flat DRY and flavorless dollar pancake cake size patties, bacon reheated as well as potato "chunks" that were burnt and cold. Chicken and biscuit, the chicken was good, biscuit BURNT on all 4 orders! BLT...couldn't even cut thru the old toast.. WTH, the waiter...pissed we were there AND we called a week in advance to announce our party. His attitude was TOTALLY unacceptable, pissed we were there, not a good job fit??? We stopped by after a event in the park in the area, we were treated with kindness and respect! I was in my wheelchair and needed regular height chair and table, we were leaving as all they had in the front of the pub was tall tables . We were stopped by a young man who was very friendly and polite, saying he could seat us in regular height chairs and table in the back part of the pub!!! We were thrilled and came in , he helped us to a table, but the women's softball was on a tv we couldn't quite see. That young man changed the tv so we could see the game and relax!!!! That was our introduction to this pub!!!!!! This was our first time ever in this establishment, but not our last !!!!! We had a grand time watching the game and eating. The dirty fries were delicious and HUGE. We shared them between the two of us. We ate every bit and was truly impressed with the quality of the food and the quality of the service. We ordered veggie Benedict, side of sausage and a huevos ranchero plate. Eggs Benedict was delicious but the potatoes were not good. No seasoning and a bit fried. Not sure if we hit on an off day, but we were very disappointed in our first visit here. I heard so many good things and have had the place recommended to me a lot. I came here to have brunch for my birthday and upon walking in, the place was busy so that is usually a good sign! Loved all the plants all around as well. The bartender greeted us quickly and told us to sit wherever we'd like. We sat in the bar area, as I was told that it had a little better vibe than the family side. Our table was super sticky so that was kinda gross, but not the end of the world. We ordered our drinks and food and it came out pretty fast. They got my father in laws order mixed up with someone else's but quickly went back and got the correct order. He had the biscuits and gravy and said the gravy was spicy. Which wasn't mentioned on the menu. Our family loves spicy food so it wasn't a big deal but they didn't mention anything spicy about it on the menu so that was odd. Two of us also got the huevos rancheros, which was unfortunately not good at all. There was very, very little salsa on there. Both orders eggs were over cooked and not how they were ordered. Also never have had huevos rancheros with soft tortillas on the bottom, and we eat a lot of huevos rancheros, usually they are crispy. These were soggy and not crispy at all. I ordered the eggs benedict and my poached eggs were almost all hard and not runny at all. My crispy potatoes were also so over cooked they were hard and most inedible. The hollandaise sauce was really yummy but was super disappointed about the eggs and potatoes. Also one of our drink orders was so dang strong it was like drinking straight gin. And while usually places skimp on the alcohol, this was like drinking it straight up. Normally I wouldn't complain but having almost full on straight gin early in the morning was not expected and didn't sit right on an empty stomach. Overall, I wouldn't come back based on our first experience which makes me super sad. It was a really cute spot and it was definitely busy. The food I've had here is consistently good but it feels overpriced. This place isn't super expensive or anything like that but I often leave feeling like damn why y'all charge so much for _______. Service is hit or miss & if it's not busy enough they will randomly close a couple hours early but still have everything open (doors, windows, etc.). When you walk up to an available table and are juuuuust about to sit down they sprint to you out of nowhere and say, "hey we're closed". So that can be disappointing when you show up and get personally turned away when the business has no visual indicators of being closed. I try to come here for dinner at least once a week and it's successful maybe like 70% of the time. Not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind.... I'm currently obsessed with their Ruben sandwich and if you like juicy Rubens you should get one too! I added a picture and it's truly a thing of glory! One time my server, a 20something year old lady that I had never met before, called me queen & I don't know if she was being facetious or not..... But that 100% stuck with me because I thought it was weird and I'm probably just getting old. The drinks are also decent but again, ever so slightly overpriced. BLT add avocado, 3/5 stars - the sandwich was solid and the bacon was thick cut and abundant. But my deduction comes from like why the hell did adding avocado end up costing like $4 more? My husband and I have been here a few times before and we've also stopped at the other location in the past. The food was bland the few times we've been in and wanted to see if things have gotten better... and it didn't. The burger we had was so plain, no flavor at all. The wings and the fries weren't bad. The bartender was nice but the service was really slow and it didn't even look that busy when we arrived. We sat at the bar and the bartender didn't even greet us for awhile but helped the guy next to us. We waited more than 10 mins to be greeted and given a menu. The bar is dark inside but big. I believe the back of the bar may be a restaurant because we saw kids back there eating with their parents. When we received the bill, I noticed there was a "service" fee charge. It was over $3. I feel like this should be posted somewhere for their customers to see. We most likely won't be back only because the food was so blah. read more

This is the best little brunch spot. Only 14 min ride from our area in Portland to get here! Huge menu of food options and a $16 table mimosa option (bottle of bubbles and different juices). We had the huervo ranchero and the scramble (vegetarian with egg whites) and added a side salad with tuna on top. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is more a review about poor management than food ... after having a horrible experience at their other location, tried to speak to management (Courtney) but nobody was available. Based on other reviews, this is an ongoing problem. Joined a group of 30 for brunch at 11, we were the 1st to arrive, placed our drink order and began socializing. Management had 1 waitress only (Amber, a great lady) to handle this group. 2 hours after we ordered we started to see that all others had received their drink orders, food, having dishes bussed and being given their bills. We realized our ticket was missed and never placed. We decided to leave and get a Big Mac instead. As we were leaving, we asked the redhead lady downstairs, Mandy, for our bill to pay for the 1 cocktail we had and she began to scream at us letting us know the cooks were overworked. WHAT? SERIOUSLY? We figured this out after waiting for over 2 hrs for eggs!!!!... the least you could have done was apologies for the poor service and the fact that we never got our food. This lady does not belong in the service industry. Management needs to step up and do a better job. This town has an abundance of breweries that offer great choices and food. Bartenders/servers could use a little bit of training. If you hand someone a menu and don't come back for 10 mins, you might as well ask them if they want a drink before disappearing. Haven't tried the food so can't speak to that 3 beers cost 27+tip. They have 10$ box fans behind their taps, running on a cold rainy day. Their happy hour menu is fantastic! Full size portions for great prices, and they were extremely accommodating for my gluten intolerance. They went above and beyond to ensure my safety and I can't express enough how much I appreciated it. My girlfriend and I came here on a Sunday at about 11 AM. They were pretty busy with some large parties as well as small. We got a table in the very backed by the kitchen. Unfortunately they were as hard as the first ones. For him was sparse on the Benedict. Also I prefer the English muffin to be toasted a bit. This one was raw.We both chose to not eat it. I don't care for hard poached eggs. Very disappointing. The hollandaise sauce was on point. Too bad they didn't get the eggs right into try's. I ordered a side of bacon and some rye toast after that. My friend ordered a BLT. I'm not sure what was going on with them that day but my right toast was completely burnt to a crisp. The bacon was crispy and tasty though. My friends BLT came on some nice looking sourdough with fresh lettuce and tomato. Only ate a few pieces of bacon which wasn't enough for the big sandwich bread. This restaurant is industrial type. Very loud in there and hard to have a conversation. It was a full restaurant though. Our server was very good and efficient. She apologized for the food and said it wasn't usually like that. The manager did comp the food. Very good customer service. Because of this I will definitely go and try the eggs Benedict on a different day. Have been a few times over last 2 years,. Enjoyed it better in the past. Service was still good. Food average. But business end has changed , in respect to food prices have increased, to be expected. Due to cost of food items. Received our bill which totaled approximately 169.00 plus tax. But the owners have now added a credit card fee to our tab. If we paid cash it would have been. 177., but who has that much cash on them. So it ended up being approximately 188.00 using visa . Plus we tipped 40.00. I came in around 2pm on a Tuesday. I sat outside at the bar. It's a cool set up. The chairs are a little too tall for the bar tho. Not very comfortable either. Oh well. The nice bartender lady got me a glass of h2o and I ordered the $13.00 Rueben. The sandwich was not the best Rueben that I ever had. It was nice and hot with lots of cheese on rye bread. But the corn beef brisket was tough and the was really not a lot of meat in on the Rueben at all. Also, I do not know if it was me but the rye bread tasted a little fishy. Oh well.
