Deborah called me again today saying I can't come in anymore...no biggie I wasn't planning to after her nasty call the other day; she is unhappy I left a negative review but it is well deserved. Deborah expects customers to know staff schedules and avoid the bar if certain staff members like herself (Deborah), Ricki, or Serena are on...All have unpleasant attitudes and rude demeanor. Customers should be able to come in, order a drink and not worry about being treated rudely if someone is working or not....this is an ongoing customer service issue-especially with Ricki (see other reviews from previous customers). Serena is just as nasty and rude to customers. Neither one looks happy with their jobs and rarely smile-Ashley was straight up aggressive before she left for other pastures; ripping tickets out of my hand; slamming drinks down; it was pretty entertaining; and sad to see someone so unhappy. Was in the area and was craving one of their awesome Rueben sandwiches. I got it to go. I was so hungry I decided to eat half of it there. The sandwich was delicious, hot and cheesy. It was already in the to go box. The only bummer was that the bottom piece of bread was kind of soggy. So my best suggestion is to eat it there and when it arrives turn it over so one side of the bread dos not get too soggy. As always the service is really nice!! Great food with phenomenal servers- today it was Rikki and Lynsey. We are regulars, and we regularly enjoy our Anchor service. They are efficient and professional, and make it feel like our second home. They are knowledgeable and work hard, and are good people. We've been coming to the marina for 4 decades, this is the first time we discovered this bar. Actually, we were searching for a new restaurant to have for lunch, that we've not visited so I can do a review, and this was it! After we ordered, we checked what YELP customers rated this bar, and I was surprised the high ratings. The food was excellent! I didn't know they made homemade fries, hubby ordered the Reuben Sandwich, and a bowl of clam chowder. I just wanted the Spinach & Artichoke Dip with Chips. We shared everything, and there's still some leftover for another lunch or snack another day. Only negative: The restroom is old & dirty! There's an extra latch for the stalls. The servers were friendly, and accommodating. For a week day lunch, it's a bit loud, since all the TV are on and the slot machines I noticed, but I wasn't sure if they were on or not. This is kind of a low-key place not fancy, but the food is excellent. The customer service is excellent the crowd it's kind of a mixed crowd. You get a combination of just working people. With some ex tweakers that moved on to gambling as their new addiction. Half the crowds got their teeth and the other half don't. Just saying but it still is a fun place that they have great specials. They even have a delicious breakfast with probably the best chicken fried steak I've ever had so do yourself a favor and check it out the bartender server. I had doubts when I first entered but we were limited on time and hungry so we took a seat and after looking at other reviews I decided to try the Rueben, it came with fries and I requested onion rings instead and got both. The Rueben was piled high with corned beef and the bread was toasted crispy which helped keep the bread together as I ate the sandwich. It was a huge surprise and excellent, the onion rings were as very good. Don't be deterred by the appearance, it's definitely a dive bar but the food is delicious. read more

We always have a positive experience at The Anchor Bar. We love the taco night and appreciate Sage, the amazing bartender who somehow knows exactly when I'm about to run out of soda water and brings a fresh one before I finish my last sip. Very attentive. I personally like the simple $5 side salad, especially when I'm dieting. All that salad and soda water fills me up and I still get to enjoy the fun bar atmosphere. It gets crowded, very popular. If you aren't one of the local, every dayers, you are last priority once the bartender gals gets done shooting the chit and decides to finally help you after you've stood around waiting forever. Serena and Ashley are extremely rude to the women that attend this place. Great otherwise but when those two are at the bar they are hostile and RUDE...multiple other patrons have made complaints. They both lack professionalism in their jobs and make it uncomfortable for people spending money there. I don't expect a lot from bar maids but some respect and service is expected. read more

What an embarrassment I had my service dog with me and was made to feel like him and I were a nuisance simply by just existing....the blonde bartender thats looks the same as the other bartenders were very rude. I had my dog leashed with his credentials with me. I really just wanted to order to go and couldn't leave him in the car. This girl made a mockery of me and had the whole restaurant staring at me. I felt so uncomfortable being the only African American in the room in a unfamiliar place. My wife and I stopped here on a recent trip to Portland to watch a basketball game. We really enjoyed the atmosphere we also enjoyed the food we had the appetizers sliders and deep fried mushrooms they were both delicious.
