I had doubts when I first entered but we were limited on time and hungry so we took a seat and after looking at other reviews I decided to try the Rueben, it came with fries and I requested onion rings instead and got both. The Rueben was piled high with corned beef and the bread was toasted crispy which helped keep the bread together as I ate the sandwich. It was a huge surprise and excellent, the onion rings were as very good. Don't be deterred by the appearance, it's definitely a dive bar but the food is delicious. read more

We've been coming to the marina for 4 decades, this is the first time we discovered this bar. Actually, we were searching for a new restaurant to have for lunch, that we've not visited so I can do a review, and this was it! After we ordered, we checked what YELP customers rated this bar, and I was surprised the high ratings. The food was excellent! I didn't know they made homemade fries, hubby ordered the Reuben Sandwich, and a bowl of clam chowder. I just wanted the Spinach & Artichoke Dip with Chips. We shared everything, and there's still some leftover for another lunch or snack another day. Only negative: The restroom is old & dirty! There's an extra latch for the stalls. The servers were friendly, and accommodating. For a week day lunch, it's a bit loud, since all the TV are on and the slot machines I noticed, but I wasn't sure if they were on or not. This dive bar has a great, lively atmosphere, especially when it's busy. We stopped in on game day, and even with the large crowds, the staff stayed friendly and attentive, regularly checking in on us throughout our visit, which really stood out. The drinks were tasty and well-made, and the food was better than expected for a dive bar. The bar also offers video poker, but they were all occupied the whole entire time we were there. I also saw that Anchor Bar offers drink and food specials during the week, plus a daily happy hour, making it a solid spot if you're looking for good value. The only downside is the small parking area, which can be tricky when it's packed. Overall, a great neighborhood dive bar with good drinks, good food, and friendly service. We always have a positive experience at The Anchor Bar. We love the taco night and appreciate Sage, the amazing bartender who somehow knows exactly when I'm about to run out of soda water and brings a fresh one before I finish my last sip. Very attentive. I personally like the simple $5 side salad, especially when I'm dieting. All that salad and soda water fills me up and I still get to enjoy the fun bar atmosphere. It gets crowded, very popular. Love this place! Real community vibe. read more

Don't go often but have always enjoyed the good food and good prices, one of the few left where you aren't getting ripped off. HOWEVER, after today, it has become way too clicky. If you aren't one of the local, every dayers, you are last priority once the bartender gals gets done shooting the chit and decides to finally help you after you've stood around waiting forever. If their goal is to discourage new folks or not so regulars from returning, they're doing a great job cause I won't be back. read more

Serena and Ashley are extremely rude to the women that attend this place. Great otherwise but when those two are at the bar they are hostile and RUDE...multiple other patrons have made complaints. They both lack professionalism in their jobs and make it uncomfortable for people spending money there. I don't expect a lot from bar maids but some respect and service is expected. read more

Lots of TV's in a traditional dive bar. I had a good time in here my first time but was greeted with an angry server/bartender on my recent visit. She made a decent margarita but just a nasty attitude and service throughout the experience. Service is everything and this poor service earns a low rating. read more

Nice little everyman bar. It's in a strip mall, but has a neighborhood bar vibe. Locals go here. Best wings I've had in a while. They were breaded, which I normally wouldn't order and buffalo style which I prefer. They were really good. Good beer selection, and friendly service. read more

Wonderful happy place with quirky staff and eccentric clientele. Dive bar but in a good Portland way. Burgers, fries, onion rings are fantastic. Spinach dip is great. Staff is like Stevie Budd from Schitt's Creek--no nonsense, good one liners. Strong drinks. Good place to go if you've absolutely had it with your day and just want one thing to go right. read more

What an embarrassment I had my service dog with me and was made to feel like him and I were a nuisance simply by just existing....the blonde bartender thats looks the same as the other bartenders were very rude. I had my dog leashed with his credentials with me. I really just wanted to order to go and couldn't leave him in the car. This girl made a mockery of me and had the whole restaurant staring at me. I felt so uncomfortable being the only African American in the room in a unfamiliar place. I hope one day I'll feel accepted enough to go to this place but it's my second time there and I won't be returning. What happened to compassion for people with service animals? My wife and I stopped here on a recent trip to Portland to watch a basketball game. We really enjoyed the atmosphere we also enjoyed the food we had the appetizers sliders and deep fried mushrooms they were both delicious. We especially enjoyed our waitress, Ashley, who treated us great and we also both noticed how well she treated her other customers. It seems like this is a real local bar and you can tell. No utensils, except the knife perched on my hamburger! Plenty of napkins! We ordered: Hayden Island Burger with fries, without the onions. My first cheese burger in a long time (I forgot to ask him to put it on the side). And hubby had the Breaded Chicken Wings with BBQ sauce. Side order Onion Rings. The wings were big and tasty, I thought, it should be cooked longer, and the onion rings could have been in a bit longer, too. Restrooms were clean. Service was a bit slow (there's only 6 people inside). The loudspeakers, a bit too loud for lunch, we're not here for Happy Hour! The TV screens were very clear. The restaurant used to be the Hooter's.

I ordered cheese sticks, called Cheese Rods in this building. They were meh. The fries I ordered, and was almost charged for, never came out. So, I can't rate them... maybe next time. My server was Stephanie and she did a great job. I would return based on her level of service. She was attentive without being intrusive... what more could you ask for? See ya next time!
