My husband and I shared the chicken fajitas. They did not come out sizzling like in Texas and the chicken was not fresh at all. The bell peppers and onions tasted fresh. The tortillas were cold. Disappointed with the meal overall. We asked for chips and salsa and was charged $5. The salsa was delish! Would love to bottle and take back to Texas. Good to share for a table of four. Fajitas: good enough portion to share, but nothing to write home about. Vegetarian salad: probably the highlight of our meal. Okay, this is where you come to party! I was on a business trip and this place stays open until midnight. Plenty of outside seating if you prefer and it opens up from the inside to a nice large dining area. The bar is where I sat and plenty of social patrons to keep you amused. The bartenders were awesome! Everyone that works there seems to be having a great time. They will engage you and really are concerned about your experience. Anyway, I got some Glenfiddich scotch and needed to chase it with a couple of tacos. I'm from California and tacos are on my mind all the time. I was blown away by the wagyu taco but more so from the hot Korean taco. Quality ingredients and the sauce I wanted to drink like soup. I will be back. read more

Came in as a walk in on a Monday and was told that the wait time was an hour- no problem- the bar is first come first serve, so we put our name in and got a seat at the bar. While we were there, we decided to just make a to-go order from the bar. For 2 bowls, it took an ENTIRE HOUR to make and our table was ready before we even got our food. It was only after we asked about our order, that we got our food. This restaurant is incredibly overpriced too- $23 for a bowl that tastes like Chipotle and gives you less food. When we got it in our to go boxes, the food looked sloppy, was cold and disappointing. I don't ever plan on coming back and I'll let anyone coming to Vail know that this place is NOT worth their time. In a town as upscale as Vail, I'd be surprised if this place lasts. read more

We were looking for dinner at 9pm and literally nothing was open since Vail was off-season. Found this place because of Yelp and we ventured out to find it. We had trouble locating the restaurant since it is tucked away in a street around Vail Village. So glad we eventually found it and did not give up. Upon entry, we were surprised by the cutest Mexican decor. It was a mix of Vail mountain aesthetic and Mexican upscale. Love it. Service was attentive and very friendly. We ordered carnitas nachos (which are a HUGE platter) and tacos. I got the Ahi Poke Taco and Hot Korean Taco. Coming from Texas, I had low expectations since tacos are amazing back home. Sorry I misjudged Colorado....these tacos were DELICIOUS! Definitely lived up to my Texas taco standards and tastes like something you can find in Austin. "If you don't like tacos... you're nacho type?" This enchanting mexican location located right along the river a fabulous lunch location. This may sound odd, but the water was so fresh it gave you the illusion is was straight from a spring nearby. The ambience was exceptional. Then consider that each bite is packed with flavor and you have a great combo. The queso fundido with chorizo was a good start. The carne asada burrito was huge and packed with flavor. The chimichanga was ginormous and very yummy. But my choice may have been the biggest hit with the HOT KOREAN including korean bbq waygu beef, spicy kimchee, jalapeño aioli, toasted peanuts. This is absolutely water watering fantastic. If you are on the area get on that wait lost and enjoy! read more

Husband and I walked into this place about 4:00 just looking for a quick snack prior to a dinner later that night. We were SUPER impressed with their tacos and drinks! We are from Arizona and weren't expecting much as far as Mexican food goes but we were blown away! We ended up coming back a few hours later for dinner there instead of where we were originally going to go. You HAVE to try the Hot Korean!!!! YUM. My friends and I checked OpenTable before we hit the slopes hoping to get a lunch reservation, and El Segundo was the only place available around noon so we grabbed a table. We were super pleasantly surprised by how delicious and wonderful our last-minute experience was. The tables inside are spread out for social distancing, and every other booth was blocked off by a fun piñata for the same reason. We were very considerately warned repeatedly that our ski boots might be slippery inside, so we kept to the carpet anytime we needed to walk around. Our server was super friendly, and we never felt rushed despite it being a busy powder day. Our good experience, in part, may have been influenced by how flavorful and strong the margarita pitcher we got was - but it was absolutely worth it. I ordered a fish taco, full of flavor and perfectly crispy texture, and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels were incredibly crispy, sweet, and spicy all at once and are a must-order at El Segundo! Also, definitely give that Sendy Sauce (hot sauce) a try if for no other reason than to chuckle at the labels. read more

Really underwhelming experience. I'll start with the positives. I like the location. The fries were good. The el pastor taco was good (crispy outer shell). Apart from that, super overpriced and totally not worth it. One of the waiting staff was super rude and snapped at one of us. There is another pic on here of a table with nothing cleared from it. That's exactly what ours looked like. The food came out cold. They don't give chips and salsa, unless you order it. Ours never came even after ordering it. There was a dead moth in the corner that, it turns out, was just sleeping and then flew and hovered over our table swooping for our heads. They brought out water that was hazy. Gross, gross, gross. I feel like this place can't decide if it wants to be a tavern or an upscale dining establishment. If u notice the floor scheme it is literally split right down the middle; hardwood floor (bar) on the right, carpet (restaurant) on the left. After having their food and noticing more people were sitting at the counter it's definitely leaning towards the former. However, the view of Gore Creek is exceptional! This is some prime real estate! The atmosphere is a mixed bag like I mentioned, but the real issue is how the overall dining conversation well exceeds loud volume levels, so get ready to shout at your server, and even to the person sitting closest to you. This is also the type of place that has seemingly gussied up food items on the menu, but equates to actually very basic dishes, as evidenced by what the rest of my table ordered. I asked if they had any quesadillas, which was shockingly not even on the menu, but they pulled one together for me anyway. It was just a tortilla, cheese, and chicken; no veggies, no flavor, and nothing to write home about either. The server was very attentive and the food came hot and quick, but it was all so lackluster. Maybe if I was blitzed off some of those overpriced tequila flights I would tolerate the food here, but I'd rather just enjoy the amazing view instead. read more

They have an outside patio also you can sit at. They have a really tasty house margarita and they have Pacifico on tap . No wait when I went in which was a win, got my first drink quickly which was a pretty solid margarita, food took 30+ to arrive after ordering and was definitely sub par. And second drink took quite awhile to show up so I ended up having to stay to drink well after I had finished eating. I Probably won't return. read more

Great spot to grab some tacos or some margs when in Vail Village! I've had work lunches here and noticed it's a perfect menu for everyone to be able to pick a type of taco that catches their eye. Entrees are huge, so be ready! If you sit by the windows you'll be able to look out to the creek. We came here twice during our visit in Vail. The slim shady margarita was so good - very fresh tasting. We also got their nachos one night and the taco salad another day. The nacho toppings were spread out so that you didn't have any chips that didn't have toppings on it - that's my pet peeve with nachos. So these were incredible! The carnitas are to die for. Stopped here for lunch after a few hours snowboarding. My only regret is that we couldn't sit outside (there was a 35 minute wait) as the view looked spectacular out there! El Segundo is a great addition to Vail Village. The space is pretty small and always busy so I would recommend making a reservation well in advance. The shrimp/steak fajitas tasted fresh and flavorful + it was a huge portion. The tacos are not huge but they had great flavor. My favorite was the Korean BBQ. My friend and I stopped in here after a lovely evening at the amphitheater. We were so hungry, our server (John) got to us right away, he took great care of us. Everything I ordered was delicious. If you are a fan of ceviche be sure to get it here, it's not to be missed! They make it with big chunks so you really get the flavor. Was given a menu right away and had picked out what I wanted to order. No one ever came by after that. The table next to me ordered their food and drinks, got their drinks, got their appetizers, the waiter came by and asked if they needed anything else...... no idea what the situation was but I was completely ignored and just ended up walking out. read more

If you are from Texas, don't do it - even if you are jonesing for tacos. It says Mexican food on the door - but I can assure you there are liars inside. The fajitas were cooked in a skillet - tough, cheap pieces of skirt. The tortillas were hard. The chips had loads of salt. Their specialty tacos fused bad ideas with execution. And the service was just awful, we had to request place settings 4 times - seriously. It was though we were a hindrance to whatever was going on elsewhere. Given the pattern of reviews - either amazing or absolutely terrible, it's evident their employees are writing reviews. Seems fairly obvious, as reviews don't typically show either 5 or 1 star reviews across the board. Read the negative reviews - mine included - and the comments were similar. Came in on a busy afternoon with no reservation asking to be sat on the patio with my visiting mom and aunt. Krista/Christa was the assistant manager on duty and I can't think of a better front person. She was extremely kind and personable (which, sadly, is not the norm for many resort community establishments). We were seating at a small table near the open doors which was nice. Both of our plates were chipped, silverware was not the cleanliest. Got a new set. The server was nice enough but we were often sitting with lots of empty dishes on a very small table, very crammed. I'd steer clear of a Jack and coke, $17 for mostly a coke.
