Great food! Clean, great service, and plenty of freshly cooked goodness!! The only thing missing was a Corona...not sure if it as a BYOB establishment. Still one of the best Mexican food places I've eaten at in the area.

We were stunned at how good the food was. From the vegetarian tacos (Three Marias) to the whole fried tilapia, the servings were very generous, the foods fresh and well prepared. Staff was very friendly. Reasonably priced.

I've never really tried other Mexican Places around this area but I'm really glad I stumbled upon this place via yelp! We placed an order for takeout got the tacos & the chips with guac. The tacos we got were the chicken, steak, al pastor, carnita & chorizo. It came with a side of rice, salsa verde & salsa roja. We loved each of the tacos as they all were full of flavor and the meats were tender. My favorite were the al pastor tacos as it came with bits of pineapple which added a refreshing sweetness to the taco! Chips & guac were both freshly made & a perfect addition to our tacos. They fried the chips fresh for us so they were piping hot & crispy when we got home. In store, they also sell various Jarritos sodas, seasonings and hot sauces if you want to take any home. If you're looking for authentic Mexican tacos, this places is definitely worth checking out.

It looks great... it was only good.

The two things we ordered were decent.... not top notch. The chicken chunks in both the tostada salad and the burrito were the ones that were probably cooked fresh at lunch but we were in there at 4:15 and that was stupid on my part to go into a small restaurant in a small town a half-hour before they close. One thing that is not ok is the two salad dressings that were brought out to go on the tostada salad... both low-end super market squeeze plastic bottles of a crappy ranch and a crappy italian. Yes... owner was friendly, place was kinda loosely put together.... thick clear plastic table covers for that quick wipe-down that, along with the general chaos of poorly organized Mexican snacks, cases of sodas and beer piled around make the place feel a little dingy. I don't think this place would last long in LA but it's not your worst option if you are in Highland with no car and you are hungry. I'm giving 4 stars because this seems to be owned by a very nice lady who doesn't need some a-hole who has only been in the restaurant once (and at the wrong time of day) giving her a bad review. The food was decent and maybe even great at lunchtime. But, seriously guys... you have refrigeration there... why are you using these crappy off-the-shelf salad dressings? Make your own! Make it rock! That ain't new, baby!

I was pointed in the direction of this place when I mentioned I wanted some good authentic Mexican food. I miss food from home and it's hard to find good solid Mexican food. I love that it's a little hole in the wall spot. We ordered the pork, steak, and chorizo tacos and a plate of refried beans and rice. The food was delicious and just enough for our family of 5. The service was great even though we arrived 15 minutes before closing. The lady greeted us with a smile and brought the food out in a timely manner. We look forward to going back!

The TORTA. Skimpiest torta I've ever had. Never again.

The TORTA. I just ordered about an hour ago(April 16th 2022, 5pm.) This is a joke. I've had plenty of tortas in my life but this is a shame. Was told it comes with lettuce, tomato, onions, jalapenos, beans, avocado, and quesillo. I got the JUMBO. It had 2 tiny jalapenos, 1 sliver of avocado ,the thinnest spread of beans, no onions, no quesillo cheese and the smallest sprinkle of lettuce. Oh and it came with a mcdonalds happy meal size amount of fries. For 14$. This was the skimpiest sandwhich I've ever eaten in my entire life. The torta is my favorite sandwich but this is a disgrace to Mexico and any restaurants that sells sandwiches in general. I have never been this disappointed in a meal I've ordered before. Word of advice is DONT GO HERE. They skimp and try to save money bye jipping the customers. Cheapest people ever. Such a damn shame.

This is probably some of the best Mexican food we have had outside of California, wonderful people and generous portions. You can always tell when food is cooked with love and healthy and fresh - the homemade guac is the bomb!

Steak tacos, get the spicy sauce with it!

I'll be honest, I was disappointed by my experience here. I absolutely love Mexican food and, being…read morenew to the area, was excited to see this business with an immaculate reputation on Yelp. I did come at an in-between time (around 3pm), so it's possible that this was a one-off, but it was so meh that I'm not sure I'll be back to give it another shot (if I do, I'll come right at lunch or dinner time). The good: the mole was fantastic! Even with a mediocre meal, this stood out as amazing. The portions were generous. I thought at one point the woman asked if I wanted chicken or beef enchiladas, and having never had beef enchiladas I said "beef please." It turns out, I received chicken enchiladas with a portion of skirt steak on top (see photo). Again, very generous. The decor was lively. The misses: The beans were quite bland, to the point where I was surprised...it's such a foundational element of Mexican cuisine, but they needed more spices / a touch more salt. Also, my wife ordered the veggie wrap and it was bland. It contained lots of different vegetables, but somehow they weren't seasoned. I know vegetarian burritos aren't all the craze, but when I took a bite of it, I agreed...it was just vegetables, no seasoning at all. Nice to have it on the menu for folks like my wife, but why not season them first? Maybe it was an oversight. The horchata was different from what I've had in the past...not bad, but not something I would recommend either. It was watery, lacked any cinnamon flavor, and had ground almond on top, which was interesting (maybe this is regional?). Without the dynamite mole and the generous portions, this would be a 2 star review, but I can't, in good conscience, give less than 3 stars with mole like that. But the beans...womp womp.

The menu is extensive with some Mexican plates you rarely see at most Mexican restaurants. The totopos are really crisp. The beans are well cooked and seasoned, the rice is moist, with some entrees the piquancy can be adjusted. The main dining room and uni-sex rest room is kept clean. Take-out available. Compostable and microwavable takeout containers There is some street parking.

RIght off the bat were that margarita and the chips and salsa. The salsa seemed pretty plain, mostly a tomato base with lots of chopped onion. This was also accompanied by a plate of mashed beans, something I've not seen elsewhere. Shortly after we were seated, I did notice one of the waitresses taking photos of our very large group (20+) on her own phone - not on the behalf of one of us - and I have to wonder if it was for the restaurant's social media, or something else. The servers were very attentive, being sure to ask the right questions as we ordered items. Food and drink all came out quickly. My chicken fajita platter came with steaming warm tortillas, more than I've typically gotten at other Mexican restaurants, and a separate plate with huge quantities of the fixin's, including a sizeable amount of guacamole. All that plus lots of beans and rice as well. This is a nice reboot from the brewery that was previously here.

This super orange spot however, is hard to miss located on Old Route 299 in Highland, NY. And the interior at Órale M., is just as colorful with Mexican ceiling banners and wall murals. At $16 or so for small, 'street-style' shrimp tacos, they were a bit more than what I wanted to pay- but hey...seafood prices right? The doubly-ply tacos were filled with diced and succulent+seasony shrimp. The right amount of veg was nice too. I've been to Mexican spots where tomato+onions+cilantro overpowers the protein- but not here which I liked. Shrimp tails were cooked with the cut up shrimp and not sure if this was an oversight(?) or, just how they do(?). The meal was comforting at least..... without the tails of course. My diluted-looking horchata had wonderful taste- but, service was nice and so were the complimentary chips and salsa.

After we walked in one of the waitresses informed us that we can sit wherever we want. I instantly felt like I was inconveniencing her with my presence by the way she said it. Didn't take it personal just yet. What appeared to be the hostess came over a few minutes after we sat down and handed us menus that were very dirty. I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. That's when we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. So unprofessional. That couldn't wait? I hate to leave a review like this, but if I was the owner of this business, I would not want someone like that working for me, representing what seems to be a great place.
