I've had The Chic over in the Santa Clara location and SO has adored Egghead since discovering it that time too, so what a treat it was to find out there was one closer to us! I decided to branch out and try the Ultimate Sando and it was just as good! Very flavorful and I especially love the caramelized onions and avocado in it. Service was great -- quick, friendly/polite. The place is pretty small and has two small dine-in tables with some outdoor seating available as well. No bathrooms available but there is a Safeway very close by if you need one. Came here with my bf on a Sunday afternoon was pleasantly surprised by the strong flavors and juiciness of the chicken in The Chic sandwich. I will say the seating is a little tough if you want to be inside but there's a few tables outside if you don't want to deal with the slightly claustrophobia-inducing interior. Alright y'all. This was Plan B for our lunching in San Ramon. I made a special trip to see my buds at their new digs at work (Shout out to Lon H.). As foodies, we headed to one spot and sadly wait for food would've been 40-45 min!? And they just opened. So we went to our trusty Yelp app to find our second spot to try and so there were a couple places in the same general area and headed in that direction. In short, Egghead Sando Cafe is a very small spot with hefty filling sandwiches and sides that I'd come back for easily. Definitely would come back to try out other items but the ones we got, I think we were wishing flavors in the sandwiches were a little more punchy. L O C A T I O N Located off of San Ramon Valley Blvd in the Safeway plaza. It's right next to Orient Express and if you're a local, you know. You know... Anyways. Parking is definitely challenging during lunch time as there's a lot of other restaurants as well as McDonalds, Safeway, and CVS customers to battle with. I N S I D E It's a small spot. Don't come with a large group. If you have two you can sit inside, but 3-4 people you'll need to sit outside and there's only a couple large tables outside but in 103 degree heat it was...uncomfortable. Definitely more grab and go. M E N U There are menu boards to physically hold as well as on screens, but the large ordering kiosk has pictures if you like to be visual. You can order at the kiosk or at the counter. They have a variety of breakfasty sandwiches...it's called egghead folks. But they do also have taiwanese style fried chicken which my friends got. I ended up getting the Ultimate Sando which was a sausage and egg sandwich with arugula, pepper jack cheese and avocado. We also grabbed some waffle fries and tater tots. My friends mentioned that the Chic had a sizeable chicken portion, quite crisp and it was thigh meat (yum!), BUT lacked the pepperiness/seasoning that they'd expect to have on that style chicken. The Ultimate Sando was good but it was also lacking something. It's hard to pinpoint it but I wish the sausage was more....sausagey? That's not helpful, but I wish it was more savory, maybe more peppery. The avocado felt like it should be more smashed and smoothed on the bottom rather than the three slices they give you. The egg was scrambled that had areas of wetness to it. The bun was fluffy! It reminded me of the best sandwich I had in SF which doesn't exist anymore. The waffle fries and tater tots were the star of the show. SO CRISPY! I would just come back for those two items easily. S E R V I C E Easily paid at the kiosk with touchless payment. The interior is pretty small with only a couple small round tables. There is a kiosk available for ordering or you can order through the employee working the counter, too. THE SCRAMBLE - 10.75 +3 for sausage I asked for the spicy mayo sauce on the side so that way the breakfast sandwich wouldn't get too soggy. The sandwich came with lots of fluffy eggs that made it look really aesthetic. The brioche bun was soft and the cheddar cheese was good. The sausage patty was super thin and incredibly dry. I really didn't like the spices they put in either the egg or sausage, which reminded me of licorice (anise or fennel, maybe?). Because of this and the dry sausage, I didn't end up finishing the sandwich. MATCHA COFFEE LATTE - 5 I chose half & half for my dairy option with 50% sugar. Pretty good! It's really creamy and fragrant because of the half and half. This was a good mix of matcha and drip coffee in a latte. I'd recommend if you want to try it! Overall, my experience was just OK. This place was DELISH!! My bf and I love coming to San Ramon to eat and hang out at City Center. We found this through Yelp and was so excited to try it since we've had the San Jose location bookmarked for a while now. The resto is small with two tables, and a couple seats outside I wish it was bigger so more ppl can enjoy the sandwiches fresh. We love Eggslut in SoCal, but this place is 100x better!!! I had not heard of this chain and this business page had 0 reviews at the time (still new!) so no pictures to see. But I searched them on IG and found they have multiple locations in the South Bay. The tots were pretty good, nice and crispy with a generous amount! The chicken sandwich with the egg was enourmous, if I had to guess it was a big flattened thigh. The arugula was fresh and the sauce was good. The egg was dried out though. They just opened so I expected the service to be so so and that's what it was. The people were nice but it was slow and it didn't seem the cashier knew what he was doing so much that the lady cooking in the back had to come out to fill orders. I think as time goes by they will figure out a better system. There are only two small round tables inside for 4 people so don't plan on eating there. Food notes: The Hawaiian Morning Sandwich (3.5 Stars) The egg was cooked medium, but didn't have much seasoning and was cooked dry or not with butter. All the stuff that makes a fried egg good, like butter, salt, pepper and maybe some special seasoned salt was missing. The spam was cooked ok, maybe a little bit longer would have tasted better. It should have crisp outside with a soft middle. The arugula was fresh but not needed, I would ace next time. The ketchup mayo was too light, they should really put on more. The warm brioche bun was good, toasted on the cut side, nice touch! The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich (3.5 stars) The eggs were cooked perfectly, but under seasoned and no butter flavor, but still good. The pepper jack cheese helps allot. I didn't taste the fresh chives, if they put any in it was very light. The caramelized onion were really good. The avocado was not needed, it was already very rich with the pepper jack cheese and sausage, I would remove next time. The sausage was good quality, but it was a premade thin patty. A fresh patty would be much better. The house sauce was very light and didn't add much flavor, they should add lot more. They don't have any other bread than brioche. And to be fair, it was put together nicely. The packaging was clean, the sandwich looked well-assembled, and it definitely has that "Instagram brunch" vibe. But when you order a sandwich like this, you expect the eggs, bacon, and chicken to be the main event. Instead, the tomato, lettuce, and bun made up more of the sandwich than the actual protein. The chicken was so thin it could've doubled as a garnish, and the bacon wasn't exactly generous either. It ended up feeling like a lot of bread with not a lot of payoff. The flavor was decent, and the egg was cooked well, but for $15, I was hoping for a more filling, protein-packed breakfast. If you're into creative, playful sandwiches and want something that looks good, this place might be worth a try. A few years ago, the kids fell in love with eggslut in Las Vegas. So, much so, that I bought little mason jars and started making them at home. Now, we can order the eggy right in our backyard and order boba at the same time! Best things that we have tried are the eggy because it is a signature dish, The B. E. C Sandwich because it's just enough to satiate and it's nice and savory, the chic sandwich because it is huge and a little bit spicy, the guava drink which is light and refreshing, and the Hawaiian sandwich because of spam - of course.
