I reviewed Egg when it first opened several years ago, and gave it raves, which is why it pains me to have to revise my opinion. My partner and I just left without eating after waiting a half hour for a table and then another 40 minutes without getting our food. Once seated, we watched as people seated after us were attended to by the young woman I assume was supposed to be our server. The owner finally brought us coffee, and we continued to wait as we watched her go from table to table, but never stop to check on us or take our order. I finally flagged down the owner and asked him if he could send someone to take our order, which he did personally, and then relayed to the server. Then, we waited. And waited. And waited. My coffee cup was empty. She didn't offer me more. Two parties who were seated after us recieved their food. Still, we waited. She never once - NOT ONCE - made her way to our table. We waited 40 minutes before my parter finally got up to find the owner and ask him if we could pay for our coffee and go. Instead of an apology when my partner explained the situation, the owner argued with him, saying our food would be right out. But at this point, we didn't have time to enjoy our meal and get to our next engagement on time. So we left. For what it is worth, the food there was good a few years ago when we were last there - and what was going out to tables looked good today, too: they were very busy, and I would even make allowances for that if I hadn't felt completely invisible. I don't know if it was because we're not regulars, not as hip as the majority of the other customers, or as young: all I know is that service matters, and if your customer has to beg to be taken care of, then it is highly unlikely that customer will ever be back. Makes it absolutely disgusting . 3) my sunny side up eggs were cooked to perfection. Absolutely no seasoning and is totally bland. 4) the maple sausage, should never be cooked in vinegar. Makes for a vomit of unpleasantries in your mouth. 5) too small of dishes, can't mix the veggie mess together. However, the taste is one thing they did right. I would ultimately recommend this place to someone, I cannot stand. That way, I appear nice but ultimately I'm winning. Overall, decent service, shit food, way to wannabe fancy. Very disappointed overall. However, the service is great! Overall, if I could give negative reviews... I would give negative stars. Seemingly popular by people with absolutely zero taste. Okay so I went to egg today, my first time visiting there.   I may go back, however, I was not impressed! You can park on the side of the building on the street, which I don't recommend.  You may prefer to park in the side lot which is preferred.  However, there are designated spots for you to park at. When you see the building from the outside it'll look like it's a warehouse, Egg does not look like a regular restaurant that one would be accustomed to. It is a restaurant with another one connected to it, Spare No Rib. It didn't appear to have a lot of dinning space, so it appears to me that on any given day, it could fill up fast.  I believe it can accommodate a nice size group of up to 20 people. I had the French toast with a topping of blackberries and mandarin fruit.  You can tell they use real fruit and it was not that can syrup fruit, tasted very healthy. Egg has something for everyone, they have your meat protein's, pesceterian dish,  vegetarian dish and even vegans are included. They do offer a full bar. There is at least one TV that I can see. I just had the French toast and water.  It was good, not the best, but not the worst either.  I enjoyed it and if there would try it again.  You get a nice serving and real fruit however, at $12 it was a bit rich for my pockets to make this my go to breakfast place. When I come back here I will have to try some of the other dishes. They have so many more items I would like to try. I will say my plate was chipped and restaurants shouldn't serve food on chipped plates, especially if they are trying to be upscale and the glass that they brought my water in was a dirty or fingerprints all over it that were not mines,it was a very unappealing glass of water, how do you mess that up? Will go back to try more of the food they serve and may even try the one next to them as well. read more

This breakfast brunch place is absolutely delicious. Let me start by saying that the fresh squeezed orange juice is a MUST HAVE. Followed by their spicy Bloody Mary, it screams BOLDNESS !! We stopped into Egg for brunch recently and were taken aback at how large the space was! It is open and airy and it was also very busy. We were seated within 20 minutes and the owner also graciously offered my boyfriend a Bloody Mary while we waited. The Egg never disappoints. Well, if I had to wait for a table I might be sad. Luckily enough, of my 2 visits my party snuck in right before they got busy. I do wish they had a more seating. I have not been to the other location. Everything here is phenomenal, service is great and the food is even better if you had been drinking the night before and need something heavy. POACHED PERFECTION Breakfast that tastes this good deserves a standing ovation. This multi-purpose restaurant is located west of the Soulard district in St Louis, though it wins no flare points when it comes to their name. They serve morning fare by day, and in the P.M. hours they transform into 'Spare No Rib', a taco/BBQ joint with a much more amusing moniker. Needing something in our bellies before a Budweiser tour on 3/26/19, Nichole C picked this place off of a Yelp listing; there's no big signs so you might have a tricky time finding Egg at first. Once we got seated, she ordered herself a latte ($4). Our food arrived pretty quickly, all things considered. My 'El Americano' ($8) came with 2 poached eggs, potatoes, 3 strips of thick-cut bacon, and brioche toast with butter & jam. The eggs were spot on, the bacon cooked masterfully and the jam tasted homemade. NC got a half order of the french toast ($5), which came swimming in berry compote and a dollop of mascarpone cheese. She also got a chorizo breakfast tostada ($5.75) topped with a fried egg and salsa verde. Both received rave reviews from my better half. Bread = 5 Circuses = 4 Service was speedy, but our guy disappeared at the end while we waited for the check. The dining room has a huge vaulted ceiling, and the decor/light fixtures inside could use a thorough dusting. Lots of cobwebs hanging around doesn't set the ideal mood for eating (unless it's a Halloween brunch). Being the stickler that I am for typos, I noticed a few spelling errors on their menu -- "fruit campot", "mascapone" -- which isn't a huge deal.....but a minor revision wouldn't hurt.
