Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Kyle Doney. What an outstanding technician he was. So polite, courteous and conscientious. After introducing himself and before servicing my property, Kyle was interested in any insect/pest concerns of mine so he could address and focus on them. In my case I signed up for a property I was leasing and was told I could break the contract when I moved. Come to find out I have to move outside of there service area if I want to cancel. Do not recommend Ecohield for insulation job. I have used this company for extermination services for several years. Recently used them for insulation of our attic space - big mistake! They did a terrible, unprofessional job for a very expensive service. Their technicians are untrained to do insulation. Left a huge mess in the house. I would give them ZERO stars if I could. I have to agree with a lot of the comments below. Their service does not work (still had problems with ants and mosquito's). We cancelled the services in July and they still keep charging us every single month and sending us appointment reminders. I call them every month and I let them know that we cancelled the services and would not like someone to come out and they will take care of the charges but yet every month they keep charging me every month - DOUBLE. Their customer service also sucks they are very rude and talk over you and they have hung up their phone on me a few times. I recommend everyone to stay away from them. read more

We have had EcoShield for several years now and so far so good. They respond very quickly and treat everything I want them to treat. We have seen an improvement with spiders, bees and wasps. It definitely pays to keep the treats up on a yearly basis. The BEST tech is Kevin and I request him all the time! He's very personable and considerate-he always puts booties on over his shoes :) He does a GREAT job being very thorough. And he explains what he's done and why. Customer service here is awful. Called to report a mouse problem, they came out and set a few traps. Technician said if problem persists to call back in 2 weeks. Over course of 2 weeks caught 12 mice, but when I called to have them come back they said they couldn't do anything. Worthless. read more

Do not use for exclusion service!!! Be careful! We bought a house in June and started quarterly service immediately. From there they said they do exclusion service for all the poop in the attic and we did want to address this. They sent a certified inspector out to locate all holes and access points. The inspector came and didn't even go in the attic to look at poop or even see the situation of what was going on. My wife was home and asked you don't want to see inside?? Long story short he never went in attic... Come to find out after I pay 1300$ for the service they missed a big hole and my issue Is bats. Now they say they don't cover bats!!! I'm just a ordinary homeowner who bought a new house,I didn't know what animals were up there. If the inspector would of went in attic and saw the bat issue and told me they don't cover bats I would never of spent $1300 dollars! So now I have bats all over the attic and I can't touch them till after March 15th. How is this my fault.. why should I be out 1300 because the inspector was to lazy to look in my attic and tell me my issue. Now I have to have a bat exclusion and spend another 1000$ because EcoShield was lazy. If I knew they don't cover this and that was my issue I would of went somewhere else. Now all we hear at night is bats keeping us awake. EcoShield how would you like sleeping at night with bats above you!?! read more

While I've never had a problem with any of the technicians, except for one who seemed to miss some webs at the front of the house. I can not stand the office staff. I never have had anyone be friendly. And after I schedule a time that works for me, so they can come inside and treat, I then get randomly rescheduled, to a time that's inconvenient and no one is home. I called about this issue and the woman just laughed saying it was a mistake my appointment got moved. Ive also had them come at the end of a quarter and then about 4 weeks later they were back for the next quarter. I honestly enjoy the service and that my house is pest free, but I can't wait for my contact to end so I don't have to deal with their customer service. read more

TRASH company!!! Warning to potential customers. I lived in Antioch, IL. A salesmen came to my house. I told him I would pay for 1 spraying for spiders on my exterior. He lied through his teeth and said I could cancel the contract at anytime with no penalty. I mistakenly signed. I sold my house 3 months later and this trash company is refusing to cancel my "contract". THEY ARE CHARGING ME WITHOUT DOING ANY WORK! I am in a different place renting an apartment! EcoShield is an amazing company! I have had little to no problems with pests since I started. I have used other companies and they were not good. I had bugs in my house all the time. EcoShield goes above and beyond to make their customers happy. They will come out in between treatments if you are seeing bugs when you shouldn't be. This is a scam. Save your money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE. This is a way over priced for what you get. I had it for many months and was not happy and when they got around to sending people out because I complained I would go check what they did and they replaced a 25 cent mouse trap. I could have done it cheaper and better myself and in the end thats what I did. I literally paid about $800 for some mouse traps on the inside and outside of the house. Quick update...someone did come to my house and removed the hornets nest just like they promised. I even received an email confirming the visit and the service they provided. One week later they came back and did the whole house spray and removal of new webs, spiders, etc. another email confirming the service. So far I am happy with the service. The moment of truth will be if I decide to cancel my service after the 3rd service BUT since I have babies in the house and don't want spiders crawling on them, I don't think I will. read more

The is a scam. Sorry to myself that I didn't read this review before. A door to door salesman ignore our "No Solicitating" sign, and came to us and pressured us to sign the contract. I had said no to him many times, but he kept staying in my property and bugging me, and finally I gave in and sign the 1 year contract. We didn't have much bug activities in the house before application, and their work have didn't come up with expected result after first application, many days after first application, not only we still seeing big ants, but also new fruit flies appears. There are still some spiders which never bother us too much. While they claim we will still see some activities after first application, and will make a second application within a month. Then when they make the second appointment in about a month, I believe their work doesn't produce any result, I decide to cancel that, so I called in try to cancel it, and the guy said there would be a more than $200 penalty, so I told him not to cancel the contract, but he said he already had cancelled the appointment, so need to reschedule. Then they reschedule the second appointment more than 2 months out after first application, I believe there will be much less bugs in the cold weather, and even if we will see bugs, they still can said the time span between first two applications are too long. Anyway, if the company continue sending me bill, I will send them a ticket and bill for property trespassing. read more

Beware!! Door to door sales team will tell you that you can cancel at any time, even though the contract (shown on their tablet computer they show it to you on) says it's for 24 months. I was assured that just meant the discounted price was guaranteed for 24 months. What a sucker I was?!! The emailed contract clearly then shows that what I signed up for was a 24 month service contract and that I would be charged $200 to cancel before the end of the 24 months. I will call this week and get the service cancelled. I'd rather get out now and write honest reviews on every review site I can find rather than continue to pay $135 per treatment for 5 treatments a year. Oh, and they did a very thorough job (it seemed) the first time. They sprayed inside and out, and cleaned out the cob webs in the high places outside. Caveat Emptor... So... This is EcoShield.. They are a door to door business that says you can get out of their contract, which you cannot. The exterminators that send to your home have no clue what they are doing. They come into your home, use a duster to remove the spiderwebs, spray a chemical, and leave. If you have a specific problem, the exterminators they send can not help you. They appear to be completely untrained workers, or bare minimum trained. For problems, they call in the Supervisor but only when you call to cancel your contract. At this time, you'll be informed that you are locked into the contract. read more

The actual service provided is completely different than what is sold to you and detailed in the contract. After further investigation, it became evident that this service is a scam. I was sold on this service when a sales representative came to my door. He informed me that he and his father were in the area providing service to existing customers in my neighborhood, including two houses in my cul de sac. He listed my neighbors by name, but having just moved in (which he was aware of, he told me as such) I wasn't able to verify their names on the spot. He told me that they had some extra time in their schedule for the day and since they already had the chemicals in the truck, his father authorized him to offer a discount. Since we actually were having pest problems I told him about them and showed him some of our biggest issues. He explained that they would be able to resolve the issues I listed, as well as provide several other services at the discounted rate. As such, I set an appointment for him to return later that day. After this, I quickly looked up reviews, and saw that it held a 4.9 star rating on Google reviews and decided to keep the appointment. When the appointment time arrived, two technicians (neither of whom were the sales representative or his father) arrived at my door with a contract to sign and a pamphlet detailing the initial service. They had me sign the contract prior to beginning service (including a statement saying that I "loved the service I received today"), and after doing so the sales representative arrived to collect my payment information. The sales representative then detailed my issue to the technicians and they began their work, which I was told would take about an hour. After about 10 minutes the technicians left without notifying me. When I went outside to review the work done, I was surprised to see that very few of the services requested or detailed in the pamphlet were completed. Services promised but not delivered included baiting/trapping, wall injections, removing spiderwebs and wasp/bee nests, and wasp eradication. The services that were provided (power spray, indoor precision treatment, and granulation) were done haphazardly and in some areas skipped entirely. After this unacceptable service, I investigated the company further. Many of the 5 star reviews on Google were from customers who only had one service or had only talked to the sales representative and were impressed by the services presented to them, several specifically citing "we will see how this goes" or similar apprehensions. I noticed on Yelp that the company only has 2.5 stars, with reviews largely split between 1 star reviews and 5 star reviews. Many of the 1 star reviews cited the exact situation I had - salesperson naming neighbors who supposedly had the service (and who turned out didn't have the service or didn't even live there currently), saying that they had extra time/materials so they could offer service at a discount, and having an initial service that was extremely rushed and visibly did not perform most of the tasks that the initial service entails. When the reviewers cancelled the service, they were charged cancellation fees equal equal to the "discount" they received (this is outlined in at least my contract) despite never receiving the quality and scope of service they paid for, and some were sent to collections over this amount. When I called to cancel, the customer service agent didn't attempt to resolve the situation (despite their "100% satisfaction guarantee" and promise that they'll come out to fix any issues at no cost), and did not attempt to retain my business - it was clear that this was a common occurrence, and that their central business model is to just collect the large cancellation fees. read more

Very poor service. They like to come to your home when you aren't there and do their service. Even though I paid for services to be rendered inside and out of the house. Boy did I get worked over. I get worked over by the sales guy that just happened to be in the neighborhood and wanted to squeeze me in. "Don't worry you can cancel any time." Oh you can cancel alright just let us know which card to use to change you. After the horrible customer service call and explanation that it will cost me another $200 to cancel my contract I have no choice but to keep it. Well done by the sales rep who said I can cancel any time, you got me. Glad he just happened to be in the neighborhood that day and was going to take care of me and throw in a bunch of freebies (shhh don't tell the neighbors what a great deal you are getting). He can take his hand off my wallet now. You were right I can cancel any time.... for $200 (enter fist in rear end). I just found out my neighbor is paying $125 a treatment. What I really appreciated was the customer service call from the agent who told me that "In retrospect we are in unprecedented times." which I still have no idea what that means. I wasn't sure if he got a word of the day calendar or was just using big words to impress me. It worked I am impressed. I asked what that had to do with spending $400 for 2 treatments and one lasted 14 minutes. He explained again that we are in "unprecedented times". I replied, yes we are because it is unprecedented that this will cost over $800 an hour. I am the fool who signed the contract so I put the blame on myself for believing I could cancel ANY time. Speaking of bargains, it will cost me $600 for the 2 treatments if I cancel. I told them to please continue to overcharge me for 14 minutes of service at $199 per treatment. Now I know why my neighbors were telling me we should not have gone with Eco Shield. Almost $400 in 4 weeks and I have a spiderweb on my window. It seems to be a descendant of the Spider from Charlotte's Web because if I look closely it appears that the word SUCKER is written in the web. We've used EcoShield for 2+ years now. They come every quarter which is nice. If you don't see ants or bugs in your house, don't stop using the service or they WILL come back. Whatever they use, works. Since using their service, we've never had rodents, ants or bugs in our house. Maybe last year we had a lot of wasps in and around our backyard but after we told our service tech our problem, we hardly ever see any. The young man who has been coming to our house ever since we started using them is polite, very friendly and knows his stuff. The price is right too. You can't put a price tag on not having an ant, mice or bug problem, right? I keep telling our neighbors who have ants really bad, you can't complain if you don't do something about your problem. The cheap stuff you buy in the store only make the ants horny and multiply. You should sign up with EcoShield. You won't regret it. read more

We've have had nothing but headaches since signing up with EcoShield. They essentially take your money, don't come out to service the property, and then refuse to cancel or refund you. Someone was supposed to come out in late June. We got a notification saying they serviced the outside of the property but that no one was home. I was home the whole day and no one came, rang the doorbell or knocked. I figured I'd give them another shot, so I called and rescheduled the service for Monday, July 11th. No show again. I called to cancel the account and was told that I signed up for an annual plan and that she was sorry and could reschedule another service. I told her I didn't want to reschedule and that I wanted to cancel (with no cancelation fee) and be refunded since it was negligent service on their part. She said she couldn't help me. When I asked to be transferred to a manager, she said she couldn't transfer me and that a manager would call me back. Now we wait. If this isn't handled appropriately and within a reasonable timeline, I'll be marking the charges on my card as fraudulent and reporting them to the BBB. Incredibly disappointed with this company- had them out twice. Both times when they were supposed to be cleaning spider webs, they missed major areas. The salesman threw his technician under the bus. Sent a different technician the next time and same result. Talked with a manager who was unwilling to waive a charge even they they A) never completed a second cycle and B) never upheld their end of the contract. Paid $1000 for a treatment. Tried SEVERAL times to schedule a follow up for the treatment. Given times which I recieved confirmation for, but then when techs didn't show, was told the schedule times were wrong. Even after I recieved confirmation with the original times. Now I'm told that since they didn't tell me that my service time was expired, that now they won't do any follow ups & that's why the techs never showed. We just moved into our house and the door bell rang. A nice young man was selling EcoShield Pest Control services. He did the neighbor "name drop" and said that our neighbors have been clients of theirs for years. I was new to the subdivision and thought that maybe there were problems with pests and to be safe I would sign up for them to spray for spiders and silver fish etc. I literally thought it was for a one time spray. I didn't read until afterward (part my fault) that it was for an entire year of service. Which, I did tell him that there was a possibility of us moving in the next three months due to a promotion for my husband. If that was the case, they were going to consider our contract null and void if we showed evidence that we were moving. Every few months they would send someone out and on a few occasions I had to have someone come to our house for mud hornets getting into house through an exterior vent. They were ok- never fully got rid of them. When my year was up- I assumed we were done (guess I shouldn't have assumed that). I called to tell them that our year contract was up and apparently, that I called to late because they were already sending someone out to the house. They sent someone out to the house to do an exterior house check and supposedly they took care of "everything". I later get a bill for $125... which they did nothing because had they done their job they would have removed the hornets nest on our house facade (which is still sitting there). I refused to pay the bill because one, our year contract was up and two, they didn't do anything to the outside. I spoke to someone from their office and they said that I never called to cancel the contract and that in small print on the contract that I am supposed to call and cancel future service. There is NO small writing on the contract at all. I had friends check it over and they would agree. They tried to scare me by having someone from their legal department call me to tell me to pay. I think the way they treat their clients is crap and had they waived the $125 perhaps, just perhaps I would have not written this. I think their service sucks when it comes to them wanting their money and for looking out for the best interest of their customers. All they want is your money and are quite greedy. They will also tell you that they specifically work in this area and have trucks in the area daily which is not true. Most come from the Western suburbs and rescheduling an appointment means that it won't be later that day or week- perhaps a few weeks later. What happened to them being available for whenever??? Don't get caught up in their lies when they try to sell their services! Don't buy the "neighbor name drop". DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY! Please note: upon writing this review and after we paid the last $125 (months after) they send me to collections for an additional $30. Such crap! This company is a scam- if you are stuck with them- pay to get out of your contract early, it's not worth the hassle. Just hired Ecoshield over the summer and I have had an extraordinary experience so far. Their technicians are very friendly and knowledgeable. We just moved into a new home and had a bee issue. They came out a few times to spray and remove many wasp and hornet nests around the house. Then a few days ago we found mice and called them right away. Ecoshield literally had a tech out to our home within an hour! Talk about lightning fast response time. I can't say enough about Clinton. I believe he is their mouse expert. He is super friendly and thorough. Set up traps all throughout the house. The next day, the traps caught 4 mice. Called up the company early in the morning at 8am and Cathi answered the phone (even though they don't open til 9am) because she noticed from the caller ID it was me (talk about a company that cares about their customers!) Cathi immediately dispatched Clinton returned again in a blink of an eye. He removed the mice and filled in some holes where he felt mice were getting into the house. Can't say enough about Ecoshield. They are quite reasonable for the high level of service. read more
