I saw that best pest had great yelp reviews. I was skeptical, but I called. I'm so glad I did. Tom came out right away and the cost was reasonable. Other neighbors have used different services who charge a LOT more and they weren't happy with the results. Best Pest will come back for a reduced rate within the next 3 months. I really think he found the entry point and I won't need him back, I'll update this if it continues to be an ongoing problem, but I think it is fixed, and I wish I would have called them sooner! One of the reasons I was skeptical at first was how many favorable reviews this business had.... I was not asked to review this business, I'm only doing it because it seems to have worked!!! Call them if you have mice! (I'll update if the mice come back...)

We have ants and silverfish problem in our house…read more Emil did a great job with the customer service, very helpful, responsive, and gives a pretty good rundown what would be expected. The price is pretty reasonable, especially for 2 pests, and not overcharged as other companies. It comes with 2 visits, 2 weeks apart from the first. However, the on site experience was not as great as mentioned. Technician came, went to spraying right away, and it felt like he was in a rush. Did not really check what might be the cause of the infestation (would not be an easy thing to investigate, but we did not really see the effort to find the cause). We see a great reduced number of ants, but still see a few lingering around, not as concerned number as before, but we feeling better about the ants. Also, 2 weeks after the second treatment we keep seeing silverfish back even after the treatment and trap was applied (they mentioned the number might increase the following week/10 days after treatment due to them trying to leave the premises, or longer since the treatment is pet/child safe product and it might take a bit to work). After the 2 visits, extra visit/treatment will cost extra, even with some pests coming back. - Giving a 5 stars still since they gave me a full refund due to my dissatisfaction with the service on site. Treatment did not do as well to the my pests situation, but great customer priority, owning up to their words, and honesty overall.

Great service! Blake came out to help with our mice problem. We started with some traps to see if…read morethat would resolve the issue. Sadly, it did not. We had to do more. We called Blake out again to which he set more traps, identified entry points around the outside of the house, and sealed everything up. He was kind, polite, and very knowledgeable. He showed us what he was doing and why. I personally love when I learn the "why". After sealing up the house, he came back 2 weeks later to check on the traps and see how things were going. Their service comes with a solid warranty and any new critters we encounter, just give them a call and they'll come out to check, diagnose, and fix. It's not the cheapest to get your house sealed up, but worth it with the extra home visits and warranty. Highly recommend!

If I were a contractor, I would look to get an endorsement from this company. Frank Dattalo was great on-site. The follow-up call with Charles Bellefontaine was very insightful. The combination of the two... 1) saved us additional time and money, 2) gave us confidence to not second guess walking away (we thought we had found a home that we would live in for decades), and 3) was a learning opportunity as we continue house hunting. I would highly recommend Chicagoland Home Inspectors, especially if you are purchasing a home that is 100+ years old. Even more so if the home is for sale by owner. They provide the information that you need to hear before making such a substantial commitment. You may be disappointed but purchasing a 100 year old home without this type of thorough inspection is akin to closing your eyes and taking a leap of faith that the seller wants what's best for you and your family. For context, the home was built in the early 1900s, three-stories, brick, original hardwood floors. The seller presented the home as being fully renovated with a new roof, electric wiring, plumbing, HVAC retrofit, etc. Frank called days a head of the inspection to ask some questions and discuss what services were needed. He removed one of the services, and the extra cost, because it wasn't needed. Frank arrived early and was already scanning the roof (via drone) when I arrived. He was more than happy to answer any questions that I had and he made a point to show me areas of major concern in-person. When I pointed things out Frank was more than happy to take a look and answer my questions. On the follow-up call, Charles took the time to further explain the findings, provide input on priorities and talked us through estimating tools. He also provided a different perspective and opinions. Talking with both Frank and Charles was incredibly valuable. Charles was surprised that our realtor recommended Chicagoland Home Inspectors and was quick to tell us that's a great sign that our realtor has our best interests in mind. If your realtor tries to steer you clear of this firm, definitely inquire why. You have to live with the consequences, not your realtor. Some Inspection Findings: - Licensed contractors didn't perform work properly - Major systems (which are new) were functioning but had potential issues that could shorten lifespan/void warranties - Source of moisture intrusion hadn't been identified/repaired - Attempts to clean up mold - Potential safety hazards Other Details: Inspectors are only required to check one electric outlet per room, this firm checks all of the outlets. They found the one that was incorrectly wired and posed a safety risk. When they tested the water pressure they made sure to turn on multiple faucets not just one at a time, identified a pressure issue. One thing to note, make sure the seller or broker has everything prepared. Any water valves that are shutoff equate to a sink that cannot be inspected. All appliances and systems need to be fully operational to be inspected.

Once I realized the levels in my home were rising, I called Professional Radon Systems for a consult. The owner, Eric, came out to my home to determine where the radon mitigation system could go and showed me how and where the pipes would be routed. He sent me a quote later that day by email and I scheduled installation a couple weeks later. The install took less than a couple hours, and the crew that came were very courteous. They ran floor coverings down to my basement so they wouldn't track in or out any debris and they cleaned up after themselves. They showed me what to keep an eye on to make sure the fan was working and provided some documents. This whole experience was very nice. I'm grateful to have a liveable basement now. Warning: pesticides used by Aerex have not been proven safe for young children and pregnant women. This is the advice I received from 2 different pediatricians, plus the Poison Control agency and the Teratogen [a substance that causes birth defects] Information Service helpline. All the many chemicals in the pesticide cocktail used by Aerex have been approved for use by the EPA. However, this approval was given on the basis of general animal studies - there is almost no data showing safety in young and unborn children even in animal studies, and none for humans. There is also some data which indicate potentially adverse effects for these groups. Furthermore, the studies which have been done only looked at short-term effects of each chemical individually - there are no studies or other data on the long-term effects of the individual chemicals, or on the combined effect of the chemicals together. I think this is something that consumers need to be aware of so that they can make an informed decision before having these pesticides sprayed in their homes. The chemicals may be ok for young and unborn children, but there is just no data to prove that yet, and some indications that they may not be. Aerex also has a consumer information sheet explaining why they do not use the more expensive heat treatments - the main reasons they give are that heat treatments do not have a residual effect and can cause damage to the building. Unfortunately, both these reasons are very misleading. Having spoken to pest control technicians at several other large companies, I now understand that the heat treatments are more effective than pesticides because pesticides only kill live bugs, whereas heat treatments kill eggs as well. And bugs are attracted to the heat, whereas they will move away from the pesticides if possible and come back later. In fact, Anderson Pest Solutions (which uses heat treatments) give a 60-day guarantee for their services, whereas Aerex gives 30 days at most. Also, the heat treatments are done in a way that doesn't cause any damage to your building or appliances, and they take way less preparation by the consumer. Again, I think it's very important that consumers be aware that (a) the chemicals in Aerex's pesticide treatments may not be safe for young and unborn children, and (b) there are completely safe and more effective treatments available, although they can cost more. read more

I am so happy we were referred to Aerex several years ago for our affordable bi-annual service. Rod Kiefer, our tech, is professional, friendly, answers all my questions and finds out exactly what type of insects we've been noticing. He's fantastic at diagnosing the problem, explaining the solutions and is very thorough in his work. We did have a couple different services before Aerex, but they are more thorough, consistent, and affordable. We've had mice trouble on a couple occasions and they've been great at abating that trouble, too. Aerex sent a man who did a spraying for roaches (I've never seen any here though I'm a New Yorker, and have extensive personal experience in dealing with them.). He was courteous and professional. Plus, he was a dead-shot with the sprayer, able to hit cracks and crevices without undue spritzing. One interesting point. When I pointed out that we get ants in our unit from the huge anthills in our front garden, he said that Aerex couldn't handle the problem because they were only licensed to handle extermination duties inside buildings and that outside extermination required a separate license Aerex didn't have. We've been loyal customers ever since. Their high standards for each employee are marvelous - everyone arrives professionally clean and knowledgeable about my pesky ant problems. I have been using Aerex for literally a decade. Our last home must have been built on an ant farm--literally nothing worked until I had Aerex come out for the twice yearly calls. When we moved into our new home everything was fine for a couple of years and then I started seeing ants and mice (ugh) that I wasn't able to control. I am so pleased with the service I'm receiving from Aerex. My technician Hugo is so wonderful. He really loves what he does and conveys his enthusiasm for his job whenever he comes out to my house. I have had the services of Aerex Pest Control for many years. My son was the one who first told me about them several years ago. He lives in the Northern suburbs and I am down in the Wheaton area. Aerex goes all over. Our technician just lives a few blocks from us. He is great and have had the same technician for service the whole time. Wonderful company and you also get real people on the line when you call. We have no pest problems because we have the service for interior and exterior. Works great. Highly recommend this company. Our company started using Aerex in November of 2015 and have been very pleased with the service. I would recommend them to anyone in the Chicago area. We have a warehouse in Schaumburg and we are in the foodservice industry so it is mandatory we have a "Pest Free" environment. Aerex has been on top of it since day one. Aerex was great. I had a yellow jacket nest under my oven vent and ended up with many in my master bathroom. When I called hysterical, the woman helping me on the phone calmed me down and assured me the ones in the house were lethargic. They do a great job. If you have an issue they will deal with it right away. We started with them because of a wasp's nest that was hanging in front of my son's bedroom window. They came out right away and took care of that one and found another that was on the other side of the house. Both were taken down. Called ecotech and another company to get quotes. While the other company was $100 cheaper, there were way more reviews for ecotech and the price of ecotech included a second visit if needed (we didn't need it!). The technician, Pete P. came on time and sent a text when he was on the way. Was straight to the point and was checking where they were congregating. He answered the many questions I had and was courteous. He let us know to give it 2 weeks and if we still saw them, to give them a call. I believe he was off by a week but no worries - they were gone in 3 weeks. I would recommend ecotech and use them again in the future if I need to.
