*Local small business. *Well priced. *Paperless so everything is dealt with online. *Polite and professional technicians. After a two week vacation, I returned to find carpenter ants all over my kitchen and a couple even in my bed. No Bueno. So after years of listening to my husband say he'd treat our house for Chicago's worst inhabitants: carpenter ants, I put my foot down and demanded a professional pest service. --Lucky for the door-to-door ProActive salesman who happened to catch me in the front yard the next day! ;) I never ever sign up for services at my doorstep, but he caught me feeling vulnerable due to a poor night's sleep, waiting for another ant to crawl on me. I signed up and had a technician just a few days later. I've been using them for nearly two years now and I never see spiders or ants in the interior or wasp nests on the exterior. They come 4 times a year and will come out immediately if I spot pests. Sometimes they spray inside but they always spray a barrier around the outside. Good thing because I don't share my bed with just anybody. read more

Mixed review. The guy who came out was very nice and I like the fact they came that day The sad part is two things He sprayed by interiors walls and cabinets(granted he tried cleaning it with a rag he had but it didn't work) The worst part is it smelled like he smokes a whole box of cigarettes before he came inside the Inside the house. Now you no one knows this but I had a son on Oxygen. I didn't need my house to smell like smoke after he left. Second hand third hand smoke is worst than first hand smoke. I get it when you are smoker but maybe don't smoke literally before you arrive on a job. Please don't spray perfume either just air out two miles before with the window open read more

The service is good. The techs that have come out are friendly and very helpful. The problem everyone needs to know about is the cancelation fee that is never discussed when you are on the phone with them. I called Proactive with my diagnosis of a problem I thought I had at my home. I was getting unexplained bites in my home. I thought it was spiders but I did say that I wanted someone to come out and confirm or deny if that was indeed the case. They explained that there was an initial charge for them coming out I agreed. In the process they begin to give me a general package of what would be entailed with this visit according to what I thought was the issue. Well the technician was over an hour late. It was a Friday afternoon and I understood that but told the technician that I had another appointment. He called me back and asked for an additional 30 minutes. I called my son while he was out visiting friend and ask if he could come to meet the tech. He did. I asked my son to pay the amount we agreed upon the initial visit. The tech took a scan of the house to find that my elderly father had a bed bug issue solely in his room. He gave a price to fix the problem. A month later they charged my son debit card again for the service that was not agreed upon. When we called they said they were treating spiders outside my home. WHATTTTTT!!!! Now I want to give them the least amount of credit deserved. They were nice but why should they be mean when they took money that was not contracted or agreed. They will not come with out getting a credit card on file so they can justify taking money. Never a contract or signed deal just take the money. DONT PROVIDE YOUR CREDIT CARD!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I've been in my house less than a year, and I'm already on a first name basis with our technician, Anthony. We actually got off to a rough start with another tech, but once we had Anthony I never considered switching again. He explains what he's doing, is always on time, follows-up, and seems truly concerned for each situation (and doesn't even laugh at my panic of bugs). We signed up for their quarterly service, which has been worth it because when we have issues in between visits, they come out free of charge. Since we started using them, the number of bugs inside our house has decreased drastically, which makes it worth every penny! read more

Last year ants were horrible in our home. We tried our own home remedies and they worked fine but not for long and we had to continue the process over and over again from spring to fall. I was sick of keeping an immaculate kitchen or paying the consequences of having a moving counter top come morning or after work. This year ants came on strong and I didn't want to deal with it. I contacted ProActive Pest Management and they had someone out to my home the next day. Brian was great and explained things well and told me what I should and shouldn't do to make the treatment effective. He was sure to explain that this wasn't a quick fix and that we'd continue to see ants for the first 10 days. He was also very conscious of my two year old who was very inquisitive and suggested I distract her while he set the bait so she wouldn't know where it was and play with it later. I very much appreciated his concern and attention to her. I saw immediate results, which I didn't expect. The amount of ants was dramatically reduced. When Brian was here I mentioned at the very end that we had mice a year ago. He treated for that as well. The best part about ProAcitive is they will come out in between treatments at no charge. I called them two weeks after the initial treatment. Ant activity had picked back up, still significantly less than before any treatment. I wasn't sure if it was enough to have them come back out but the receptionist was very nice and said there wasn't a protocol and it was up to my discretion. I felt very comfortable asking for a technician to come out and again they were able to come out the very next day. I asked about spiders and they said that was covered and would treat for that as well when they came out. We got Brian again and he was very polite and answered all my questions again. Ants are down again and looking forward to less spiders too! Derek, the associate, was polite, very informative and showed up on time. After describing the few bugs that I have seen, he informed me what his plan of attack was and chemicals he was going to use. Hi, Proactive is a Great place to call for help when you need pest control management. We had many yellow jackets who nested in our siding and we didn't know until there were a lot!! I called Proactive and spoke to Ryan who is a great person to ask questions about what we needed for our problem and then explains what is needed to help us and he sent tech Brian Mckendree to treat. There were so many there that 2 treatments were needed. We don't have any more! Also, we have continued our business with Proactive and will continue to do so as in general all of our other pests paper wasp and their nesting, ants etc. have been dealt with and I don't have to buy anything or deal with pest situations as Proactive has been taking care of it for us. They come out every few months with a schedule good for us. They treat inside and outside the house and they are affordable.
