Excellent customer service! We had wasps as a potential issue, and their consultant came out to do a full inspection of the house from attic to basement, and all around the house outside. He let us know that most of the wasp nests were inactive, and that we really didn't need a full treatment at this point in time, but he could provide it if we wanted it. Also gave us some tips regarding the different types of ants we might be seeing outside, and how best to deal with them. Ultimately, we opted not to use their service and handle the situation ourselves, however if we ever have pest problems in the future, they'll be the first we call! Fortunately, we have not had many pest problems, but we have used Hansen a few times. They are absolutely great. They are prompt, charge what they estimate, do the job efficiently, and help the property owner learn to protect themselves from future problems. They use modern and safe materials, equipment and methods. They do not pump you for long term contracts. They are courteous and neat. Hansen Pest is our go to company for any pest control services. We manage a number of proprieties and we always recommend Hansen to all our owners and clients. This company comes out and gets the job done. We've never had an issue with their actual pest control services. If you are looking for a reliable company to treat your property or home, give them call. The only reason they did not receive a 5 star from me is because they have an entire new staff working there. More than once did i have to call and be a complete ass to them because of their customer service. I don't want to argue with a CSR about what services i have had for over 3 years. I don't want to be cut off or rudely be placed on hold because they couldn't deal with a customer. I have expressed my frustration with their manager and since then they have gotten better. I'm shocked by the great customer service reviews. I just encountered the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I called about a billing issue (Their contract was very vague and didn't mention the billing year is only spring and summer, and NOT a calendar year- Causing me to pay a lot more than I had anticipated in a short time). I spoke to a supervisor named Robyn, who was very rude and condescending to me. I ended up canceling my services completely. Good luck if you use this company. Amazing customer service and knowledge!! I had a large infestation of carpenter bees in and around my sons wooden playset. I did some research and tried to get rid of them myself but it turned into a much larger project than expected. I called and asked for a ballpark quote over there Phone which they said they couldn't provide without seeing the area in question, but trust offered to put me on hold and checked back in a few minutes later to offer someone to come out within the next couple of hours. Not only did our tech Nick walk up to the door on time(!) But he also me know that we also had these bees in my mailbox post and he did a thorough check of all of the wood on my property, and found bees and homes in other areas of the playset I had missed the first time around. He was extraordinarily knowledgeable and took the time to listen and answer all of my questions and give me more info on how to prevent the bees from returning again. (Apparently carpenter bees are notorious for coming back again and again and again if you don't plug the holes too). I felt the pricing was fair and better than some of the other over the phone quotes I received. I really felt some of the other companies heard the words "children, playset & bees" and hair tried to take advantage of me/$$. I can't say enough great things about this company and Our Tech Nick in particular. I've already referred a few friends to them as well in the week that has passed bee-free. read more

The company might be alright since I haven't dealt with them but having such kind of employee would get them down soon. He was out here for a quote ,since it did not meet up with the existing quote from a different company we dint give him business which I believe upset-ted him and resulted in rude behavior. We had ants, and called Hansen to come out and clear it. Whilst they were here, they, like any good salespeople, asked if we wanted to sign up for a annual plan. We had seen evidence of other pests, so we did. And boy were we glad. They have come out 6 or 7 times so far this summer. Not once have they asked to up any payments and they have always been very prompt. "Our guy" is really nice, and it's really nice that we have the same one come every time, so he knows the story behind the issues. He always takes plenty of times to discuss solutions, and I really appreciate that. read more

Unfortunately, we have needed to call Hansen Services twice. Once for ants and once for wasps and yellow jackets. I could not be more impressed. Beyond excellent customer service with amazingly quick response time. I felt confident that the technician knew what he was talking about and it was obvious that he took great care to do a thorough inspection. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of effort and care put into removing the nests and treating to prevent further infestations. We had no problems with billing. Their price was much lower than their competitors, who I simply would not trust as much. Thanks for helping us keep our family safe! read more

Honest company with high integrity!!!! I've used them once before so I called about a second issue I was having. They came for a free quote and were kind enough to tell us that the problem wasn't that bad; they even told my wife how to fix the issue ourselves. They could have easily charged us and made a quick buck but they didn't. If you're looking for a company who shows up when they are, provides excellent service, and will be upfront and honest then this is your company. read more

Maybe others have had great service, I haven't. I live in a multi-unit building that had an infestation of bed bugs. The owner decided to use Hansen, although the name of the company that was contracted wasn't revealed until recently. Hansen came in and did an initial inspection to identify which units would be treated. I had reported bed bugs and bites to the property manager. The technician came in, shone a flashlight on my bed, and announced that he found no evidence of bed bugs, but would put me on the list of units to be treated anyway. The prep work was arduous--dresser and closet emptied, all furniture moved away from the wall, bag all clothing and shoes and remove them from the unit, etc. It didn't help that the property manager gave less than 24 hours notice for all this to be done. So they came, did whatever they did, and I found another bed bug within a week. Then several, and lots of bites. A two-week follow-up was promised in the prep sheet we were given, but it took nearly a month for them to return, through no fault of their own. What wasn't stated in the original information/prep sheet was that all the prep work with regard to moving furniture, removing items, etc., would have to be done again. We at least got sufficient notie this time. So I did all the prep work, and my unit was on the list to be treated. I even left a large note on my desk chair asking for it to be treated. The technician skipped my unit entirely--no treatment at all, let alone the chair. I was later told that the technician didn't see any evidence of bed bugs, so didn't treat the unit, even though it was on the list to be treated. When a unit is listed to be treated, it's not the technician's call to NOT treat it. (It's actually against the law, per the Chicago Bed Bug Ordinance. If a bed bug is REPORTED, the unit MUST be treated.) When I reported still having bed bugs and bites, I was informed that the property manager was negotiating a new contract with Hansen and that they were backed up with requests for service. More than a month after the follow-up where my unit was skipped, Hansen returned. The prep work was all done--for the third time--but I forgot to put a note on my desk chair. When I returned to the unit it was obvious that the bed had been treated but the chair had not. When I found another bed bug the next day, I disassembled the chair and washed all of it in hot water, scrubbing away the eggs I found. I've still seen the occasional bed bug and captured/killed them; I'm hoping that they're leftovers and haven't nested somewhere else. The promised two-week follow up has never occurred. One thing I find puzzling in the prep sheet is the instruction to not put mattress covers on the bed for at least 30 days after the two-week follow-up. Everything I've read online and from other pest control companies specifically states that mattress covers should be put on immediately following treatment. If I continue to find bugs, I'm considering hiring my own pest control company to deal with the issue. It won't be Hansen. read more

I have since had a slightly better experience with another technician, who was sent to do a pre-move-in check for when I moved to a different room. He did thorough job and inspected all the cabinets, and listened to and answered my questions even though he was in a hurry. read more

Poor communication within the company and with the customer. During initial phone call, I asked if there was a non-poisonous method to getting rid of a mouse. They said yes, but when they came out they did not have the item on the truck, and told me I needed to get one at a big box store. They sprayed two wasp nests, but left the remains (nest and dead wasps) on my deck until I asked them to clean it up. I was told that it is not standard procedure to clean this up and when I asked the owner, Robyn, about that she explained the reason, which made sense to me. Their employees need to understand the policies so that they can be explained to the customer, otherwise it just seems like they're leaving a mess for me to clean up. Robyn explained in fact that it needs to stay on the ground to kill other wasps that may return to the nest. So in the end it should NOT have been cleaned up, but the employee didn't know this. It was good that the employee identified possible points of entry, which we quickly addressed by sealing with silicone caulk. However, another mouse and ants appeared in the house within the first 30 days after they sprayed the exterior. Their guarantee is to come out and spray again, but since we are not in favor of more chemicals in such a short time period partly because we have a dog, I asked for a partial refund since I had to take care of the mouse problem on my own, and this was my main reason for hiring them. Disappointingly, I spoke with Robyn and she will not provide us with a partial refund. Robyn was generally not receptive and will probably not consider improving communication within the company or with customers. As a business owner myself I realize how important it is to have clear policies and procedures and communicate those well throughout the organization and to each and every customer, never assuming that because those within a profession understand standard practices, that every customer will too. Also, a phone call was never returned and a receipt was never mailed to me as they said it would be. This company needs a refresher course in best business practices. read more
