I've never given a 1 star review before. For EcoShield I'll make an exception. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They try to rope you into long term plans and penalize you if you try to end service with them. They showed up 3 hours late to their first appointment, 2 hours late to the next attempt. Never completed a full service and tried to charge $150 to get out of their "contract" which won't hold weight anywhere. Predatory. Fraudulent. read more

I'll start by saying the employees themselves, with the exception of customer service were very friendly. Unfortunately the service itself did not yield the results we had hoped for. I spray myself, inside and out with commercial off the shelf products from Home Depot and feel like that was as effective if not more so. They offered to come out, in between scheduled appointments, but not sure how that would have helped. We actually had more insects appear inside then usually and long after the period they said where that was normal to experience. To get the fantastic discount deal, you have to sign up for a year of service. That should have been my first red flag. My family next door signed up for service with a different company and they were much cheaper with no penalties for cancelling. I just called and they offered to discount the service and/or come out again. You can ask them to come out many times if needed between service, but if the primary applications aren't effective, I fail to see how additional sprays with the same products are going to do anything different. Einstein's definition of insanity applies here for me, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Their remedy makes no sense to me logically. The customer service employees are not well trained. They certainly aren't empowered to make decisions on their own. No one is happy paying a cancellation fee, but the kept repeating the scripted remedies "we can discount" or "we can come out again" and that was their only recourse. If you 're going to lose a customer for now, don't let them leave with a bad taste in their mouth. If they'd have waived the cancellation fee I wouldn't be writing this review. Nor would I be going to NextDoor website next to tell all my other neighbors and surrounding neigborhoods to not use their service. So that 150 dollars they just made from the fee, may end up costing them thousands of dollars in future business. read more

I have a scheduled appointment today at 2pm to 4pm but the technician came over to my house between 7am to 8am and did the exterior part. Left without doing my interior but I was inside of the house, didn't ring the door bell, missed the call and left the voicemail that service was done? Really??!! Charged me for $135 for bimonthly that I signed up for $100 quarterly?? Really again??!! On time to take money from my account that cannot complete the service on time that was agreed??!! This is RIDICULOUS!! A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. No wonder lots of my neighbors cancelled the contract with them and changed to another company. Cancelled the service for $135 incomplete service and cancellations fee for $150. UNACCEPTABLE!!! Do not do service with this company. read more

I give the overall company 1 star where the servicing department bears most of the blame. They clearly have issues with their scheduling, following through with committed dates and the effective communication thereof. We have had them for many years but recent servicing was delayed up to two weeks for simple indoor appointment. Bugs don't usually allow you to wait that long and the issue naturally passed with the season. The complication appeared to be in how they prioritize their servicing routes. The supervisor also refused to speak directly to us to hear our concerns. However Steve G. The on-site tech did a great job and performed all required services. It was just too little too late. But hoping the review of him (5 stars) allows for his assessment to not be tainted by the recent overall customer service issues of EcoShield. read more

Ugh, this is why I should ALWAYS look at reviews before being silly and signing up with a company that walked to my front door. My husband and I have a dog and worry about ticks in our backyard, where he roams and does his business. So we were planning on finding something to spray or treat our yard for ticks. When a couple weeks later a salesperson from EcoShield comes to my door (even though I have a No Soliciting sign) and is wondering if we were interested. I wasn't, I hate solicitors, I was on my way out of the door though so he kept talking to me while I was getting the kids in the car. Well long story short he offers me the 1st service for $75 (regularly $125 he claimed) and I would be contracted for 12 months, or 4 more services. I was hesitant because of the contract but it included the tick/flea treatment so I went with it. I asked him several times if I could cancel at any time. He said it would be no problem to cancel I would just have to pay the 1st treatment full price fee in order to cancel. What he told me: 1st treatment and each following treatment is $125. I pay $75 for today's treatment and $125 for 4 more treatments. I can cancel at any time for $50 discount I was given on the 1st treatment. What I was told when I called to cancel: 1st treatment is actually $325. I can pay $250 to cancel. If I don't want to cancel I can pay $99 per service, of which I'm contracted for 4 more. WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm NOT happy. They don't care I was lied to by the salesperson. They prey on this type of transaction. So here I am stuck paying $99 for 4 more treatments that I would prefer not to have. I'm too pissed about their business practice, lying, and lack of customer service to care if their service works. I will say though, at the very least, I haven't seen one tick yet this summer. read more

We had a guy show up at our door last year and totally sell me on signing up for this safe spray. We were actually looking into pest control at the time and the paperwork they showed me looked and sounded great. So we set up our first appointment and a follow up to kill any newly hatched insects. During the first few weeks, we were told not to expect much because it takes time for them to die, etc. About 2 weeks after our second spray, we were still not noticing a decrease in bugs, so they came out and did another spray, followed a couple of weeks later with our regularly scheduled service. Still no change, so I called to cancel. I was talked into letting a specialist come and check things out. The original guy that sold us on the service showed up. I walked him around the house showing him the still alive and very large silverfish along with some spiders, and he agreed the spray was not working and we would need to schedule a heavier spray that would require us to be out of the house for 4 hours. I let him know I would have to call the office to schedule it because it is hard to leave the house for 4 hours with my grandmother in her condition. When he left, we had agreed that we would end our contract as the regular spray was not working. They did not cancel our contract and the man showed up to spray. Not being home he only sprayed the outside, but should not have been there at all. I called immediately when I got home as well as sent an email that we are not to be getting sprayed anymore and relayed what the field specialist had said. I was told it would be taken care of and we would not have to pay. I got a notice from collections today regarding our account. I called to let them know we received it, remind them that they were not supposed to be doing anymore spraying and letting them know that we have no intention of paying. I was told we still had to pay because we were under contract and that we were not allowed to end the contract early or we would still have to pay. When I told the man I was speaking to that we ended the contract because the spray was not working, I was told it did not matter, it was still a contract. At this point, I am sending all of the email correspondence as well as a thumb drive with all phone calls to the collection company and probably to the BBB. You will be locked into a superficial binding contract for cobweb removal and intermittent spraying of watered down chemicals. What they DON'T inform you of is that you are receiving the cheap product only for signing up for a certain contract period that you must complete. Even though they TELL you that you can cancel at anytime. Should you attempt to cancel services at any time, their fine print indicates you owe the discounts they provided back to them. What a JOKE! Their product DOES NOT WORK!!! By the time you realize this you've already overpaid for their service only to have them charge you a FEE upon cancellation. When you try to reach customer service, or better yet, a manager to deal with your issues, you are transferred to an OVERSEAS call center where they barely speak English and will do everything under the sun to sell you more of their products and services that DO NOT WORK for an even better price. Why I just give one star is because they simply are not willing to do what we pay for. If there is zero star on yelp, I will give them no star for the review. I called EcoShield about the mice activity on our property. They came and checked the place we have. I pointed them out where I noticed the mice and they finally found them, a whole family of mice, 6 of them. I was asking how they were going to do and get them out of my property because they do the Rodent Extermination as advertised on Yelp and their home page. We also subscribed for this service (Rodent is listed in our contract). The funny thing is they found mice but don't want to exterminate them from our property because they said "We are not a licensed exterminator". They asked me to do my own research and call other companies to get rid of the mice we found. If they are not licensed, why they can do the business and charge us for the subscription? Mice are not pets. They are rodents. Because we called you to find and exterminate them, you should find and exterminate them. That's what you advertise and charge us for. So disappointed! read more

We have had a contract with EcoShield Chicago since August 2021. It is now May 2022. We are billed for bimonthly treatments. Our pests still persist. The treatments seem to do almost nothing, as though they are spraying water. We were told the service had a money back guarantee. They will not release us of our contract without a $200 fee, let alone provide the money back guarantee. They have offered "fill in services" in between bi-monthly services, which have not been effective either. Now they are changing the terms of the fill-in services as only being offered 2 weeks after a treatment. The customer service is horrible. They don't listen to customers, they just talk in circles. They never have been inside my home, nor the outside. Tried to cancel after trying to schedule several times without success. Trying to cancel means you then have to pay a cancellation fee on top of the services they never rendered. The company's customer service is horrendous to deal with. They are not empowered to listen to the customer and if the tech says they did the service, then that is now the new facts. They answer with obvious psuedonyms and must stick to their script. They have about seven answers spelled out and do not deviate from those responses, even if they don't apply to your situation. Horrible company operation. They are high pressure sales, basically make it sound so good. But it's horrible service. They are experts at convincing young people to go to work for them, promising them the world and lots of money. Apparently their training is poor because they send a different new young person each time for your service, and it is very substandard compared to other exterminators. They are also much more expensive and you get much less. They make a lot of big promises on the sale snow job, and it's all lies. The sales guy tricks you into thinking it's his business and it's superior. Don't be fooled. They promise you you can call him( specifically the sales guy, anytime. They give you all his supposed contact info. But you can not ever talk to him again. Calls are sent to a central office somewhere. It's just one lie after the next. They hire and fire constantly. It's much more of a system designed to make money, and not to truly provide a quality service. I paid $160 to get out of my contract. They know up front that there is a good chance you will be dissatisfied so the contract is another way for them to make money when you inevitably have to cancel. Read the BBB complaints! They may do a good job on the first two trips but before you know it you're paying triple cost for extremely low quality service. They do not train their employees well, except on the get the contract tactics. As far as pest control knowledge and expertise, JOKE. Downright dangerous since the inexperienced kids are using chemicals around your home. There's nothing Eco about them. That is also a lie. This company can get away with it cause there's no law against how they operate, but they are very unethical and severely poorly managed and is just terrible on so many fronts. You will end up paying them the fee to get out of your contract. Save yourself the trouble. When they come to your door to talk you in to their 2 year contract, don't do it. Go to a local, smaller, experienced exterminator company that has an office near you where you can always communicate with the same person in that office. And more than likely that company will be cheaper and for sure better quality. After that horrible experience, and humiliation of realizing the big scam and lie we fell for, we now have Arrow Exterminators and they are a great business to work with and the service is so far and above Ecos it's crazy. For much less money. This company does the same things with hiring employees as they do with running the business. Blitz promises on them convincing them they are going to make lots of money and have a good career with a good company. They fly them to seminars and do all they can to get them on board, but they will also fire them just as quick. It's not a promising career choice believe me. Not with this company. They sent a new hire to our house every time. I called to complain about the joke service and they just say well we're sorry. That person is no longer with us. But we were still charged even though they almost did nothing at all. I wish I had a video of the last two they sent going around dabbing a little something here and there and then promptly leaving. Shortly after moving in, a salesperson pitched me on their service and stated others in the neighborhood were using their services (later found out this wasn't true). After a half done initial service, I called in to share feedback. The customer service rep stated they would note the issues and send a technician out to complete the job. That never happened. After three long calls of using scare tactics to convince me to continue the service I was finally able to get an email confirmation of the cancellation. The previous two customer service reps stated they would send a cancellation after the call but that never happened. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before agreeing to the service. read more

Recently signed up for service through EcoShield on 6/2/2022. I explained that we really required service for spiders on the exterior of the house and preventative traps for mice (we had previously remediated the house and sealed off any potential areas of entry). I explained that we had no concerns for insects on the interior of the house, and the top concern was the number of spiders on the exterior (we live near the lake and there are many flying insects). The representative stated that an assessment would be completed on 6/4/2022. I was out of town for the assessment, and my significant other was present. The representative who showed up on 6/4/2022 proceeded to spray the inside of the house and the base of the house. "De-webbing" of the exterior was limited to the bottom half of the house. De-webbing did not occur on the second or third floor of the house. When I called regarding the missed areas, they informed me that they do not utilize ladders. How are they supposed to treat the second and third floor exteriors without a ladder you might ask? They utilize a pole that is 20-feet long, which obviously cannot reach numerous areas of the house. Thus, numerous areas were not cleaned of webs nor appropriately dusted to prevent recurrence. Ultimately, my primary concern was not addressed, and instead, the company went against my wishes and sprayed the interior. To top it off, the "thorough assessment" took less than one hour for a three story home with a detached garage. The cost for this service, even though they didn't address my primary concern: $300. I would have happily paid $300 if they had simply addressed my concern. Today, I received a call regarding the service. The individual calling was distracted, giggling, and unable to completely verbalize next steps. There were numerous instances where I heard someone in the background giggling with her. She was flat out unprofessional. My advice, stay far away from this company. I will be switching back to Batzner. read more

I was impressed, first, with Anthony who called to sign me up and work out a service plan. Then with the extent to which my service guy, Trey (Trenell), addressed my various concerns. He got up on a ladder to reach a wasp's nest nobody has been able to get to for years. He came up with a great idea to get onto the tops of our windows where bugs like to hide, without having to take the screens off our dozens of windows (yay). He found a wasp nest in our retaining wall and had the equipment to fog it out, then make sure the little devils wouldn't come back. He picked up a dead mouse for me and sought out all the places critters would be looking to get in, inside and out. Trey even applied three different substances for some of our problem spots! I'd say if we have any pests for the next several months I'll be VERY surprised! read more
