If I could give this 0 stars, I would. This place is predatory. I would avoid them at all costs. They come door to door and try to get you to sign a contract on the spot. I signed it being a bit naive and then immediately asked the agent (his name was Elijah in 60618) if I could talk to my partner first and he said that's fine. He has initially scheduled me and I asked to cancel it and he confirmed. Little did I know, they showed up a week later unannounced without me making an appointment and I wasn't even home. They sprayed my outside and claimed to remove a hornet's nest (which I removed myself the week prior) but couldn't get behind out locked fences as I did not make the appointment nor was I home. I was assured I would get a refund when I called and after so many phone calls later, they refused and sent the bill for the unrequested service to collections. I fought as hard as I could, but lost juice and just paid the collections bill but wanted to post this to potentially help someone reading this. PLEASE avoid this place. read more

I'm extremely disappointed in this company. If it weren't for the absolutely horrible experience I've had with their billing department, I wouldn't be writing this review. The pest service has been good, we even had an exclusion service completed and that took care of a mouse issue we had. But that's when the billing issues started. The cost of the exclusion service was not something we had the extra cash on hand for. I confirmed with the technician who performed the inspection that I could set up a payment plan before we moved forward with the service. So when I received the invoice for the service, I immediately called and set up a payment plan. The next month rolled around and I started receiving texts that my account was past due. So I called and confirmed that I had a payment plan set up. The next month it happened again, so I called again - literally same thing. This happened for 4 months and then I received a notice that if I didn't pay my account, it would be sent to collections and my account would be cancelled. So I called again, and they confirmed there was a note in my account and it would not be sent to collections, that there was nothing to worry about. Well, my payment for the month just came out and I noticed that my account balance increased. When I checked the detail - my account was charged a $150 cancellation fee. I may leave it cancelled after the absolutely horrible and exhausting billing issues with this company. read more

Huge scam! From the technician to the billing. Not once did they complete a full service. The only thing they ever did was remove a few spider webs and then claim they did the complete service. Not once did they ever do the interior which was also supposed to be included. This company is a fraud. I scheduled an appointment with them in the early spring because we were getting some small ants in the kitchen. They never showed up but said that someone came out to service our home without going into the house. I disputed their $169 charge and they then sent me to collection. I contracted Ecoshield Pest Solutions in mid-May to get rid of a flying insect problem we had around our home. We were told by the region General Manager that they would come out, provide their service, and if not happy with the first service, they would come out a second time at no charge. He also said that if the second application did not work, I would receive a full refund of $189 for the first application. They came out a second time and after several days the problem persisted. I called to cancel the service and get the refund. When I finally got to talk to someone, I was on the phone for 20 minutes trying to cancel the service with the representative. She said that she possibly cancel my 1 year contract (I was never told about a 1 year contract) after I talked with the local office, but that I would have to pay a penalty for early termination. I am now having to deal with the "local office". Wow. What pain. I'm going to contest the problem with my credit card company since I'm getting no where with the companies customer service. read more

worst company ever and i wish I had read all the other reviews before signing up. their whole pitch is a scam in cities all over the country. It has now been reported to IDFPR. They lie and say they are hired by an HOA or other community members to work in the area. Completely false. Then they draw you in with low rates and hide the fact you will need to pay more once you realize it is an absolutely watered-down inferior product. THEN they tell you they will come back out as many times as needed if it doesn't work. Well news flash Eco shield -- GOOD pest control companies don't need to come back out over and over. They do it right the first time and keep their long-term clients and don't need to run a scam to get business. They build business by reputation and word of mouth. I can only hope others see this before they get sucked in. And i feel sorry for the ambitious young kids who have taken jobs with this company. they all seem smart and pleasant and it is awful they are learning business from such a sleazy operation. We called Eco-Shield and asked them to come back out due to a couple of dead mice in the basement. The scheduler was very polite and we were able to arrange a mutually convenient time within a few days (mainly because of our schedule). Our service technician, Austin, was outstanding. He spent a considerable amount of time examining the basement, the attic and the exterior. He was thorough, the information he provided was most helpful, and he is one of the most polite and articulate techs we've ever dealt with. He gave us several treatment/remediation options to consider (including how I could do things myself), and he followed up 3 days later to see if we had any further questions. Definitely pay attention to the other reviews on here. This company does NOT care at all about you or customer service in any way. As other reviews have said the sales person that came to my door assured me I would not be locked into the contract. Now that I'm moving out of state which is completely reasonable reason to cancel service, I've told them this several times, they do NOT care. They have called relentlessly, sent email after email. All they care about is locking you into a contract and getting your money. There are plenty of other companies that actually care about their customers. I am extremely upset with your customer service, or lack of. I had been trying to call and schedule a touch up for 2 weeks. Could not get thru on phone line and my messages never got returned. I finally got thru to someone, scheduled something, and the day of the service, they sent a message cancelling it. So once again, took forever to get thru and tell you I want to cancel. I signed the contract based on the fact that the salesman (FALSELY) PROMISED this company would take care of voles and a silverfish issue. Horrible horrible horrible!!! First guy comes out and he looks at me like I have three heads- we don't do voles he said. Well then why was I told that? I contact the office and was told -well we can treat them like mice. The next guy comes out and says no that won't work, we can't do that. And also says it's bad for your dogs to have those bait traps out there. So why was I told to begin with they were part of the service??? Oh- because this company says anything it can to sucker people in and then don't live up to any of it!!! And then expect you to pay an outrageous cancellation fee when you figure out this company is a scam! Then I still had the silverfish. The second guy that came says There's not much we can do- I'll just throw some of these silverfish packs around to help. I can get these at Home Depot myself- I wasn't paying for this company to throw around some dekko silverfish packs! (Which didn't even work!) I call to cancel, They claim I was offered a treatment to remedy the above. Yes I certainly was- AFTER I said I wanted to cancel. Very very devious practices. Lastly- when calling to complain, again AFTER I said I wanted to cancel, she says, it takes up to a year to get all the bugs out. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. We used them for early spring through late summer months. Did not help the mosquitoes. When I called for assistance, they said their service only killed the adults and not the lavae. They said it would cost more to kill the larvae... and it was a lot more. TERRIBLE! I had a contract with EcoShield where they "Guarantee" being pest free. About 1 week after my quarterly treatment my kitchen was overrun with Ants, no biggie it happens. I called EcoShield to have someone come out and they said the best they can do is 3wks... I pushed back and was told 2.5 wks is the best they can do. Their expectation was that I would be just fine living with ants in my kitchen for over 2 wks... I ended up hiring another service that came out and took care of the issue since there was "nothing they could do, we're busy". I told EcoShield that I was not paying for that service because they didn't fulfill their customer guarantee, I had to essentially pay double to have someone else come out and THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS. I've tried calling their office multiple times and always get a voicemail with no response. No chance would I ever recommend these guys, save your money and look elsewhere! read more

This pest control company is nothing but a scam. Caught thier technicians several times do very mininal/show up pretend to do stuff and leave. How? I'd make sure to schedule every appointment when I was home, but I pretended not to be home when they rung the bell. When confronted (after they had gotten back into thier vehicles) I asked why didn't you spray treat or granulate the yard for pests. Thier response was ALWAYS oh sorry I am out of *such and such* I can schedule you for a free reservice. As if it's Completely OK to show up at someone's house and do 1/8 of what thier contract says you get. And still collect thier quarterly bill unless you take time to CATCH them in the act. Very strange. A young man rang my doorbell and tried to hard sell me on VERY expensive pest control products that he had initially claimed were less expensive than Rose Pest Solutions. I pay less than $40 per month for quarterly and free re-application services as needed. I'm very satisfied. Similar to other stories, the man claimed that my neighbors had signed up with them. Whether or not they did, I don't care, it's just clearly part of a sales pitch. Anyway, I told him that I needed to do more research. It has been a year now, and we still have mice getting in on a regular basis even though they are "sealing up" the house every month.
