If I could give less than 1 star, I would. They signed us up for a 24-month contract, with a 100% guarantee for listed bugs and free follow-up visits. Within months, they obviously could not control the bugs and gave multiple excuses. Calling the local service office, they initially sent a follow service, but this did not fix anything. I requested another follow-up, and they refused, advising me that these bugs were not covered under the contract. They very nicely advised that I could buy Dawn detergent and treat myself. These bugs were included, but no further follow-up visits. Later, I called the HQ to cancel the service as they did not meet the contract terms and failed to control the bugs. The HQ agreed to close with no fees. Since then, my wife has received dozens of calls and text messages advising us to pay a $250 cancellation as they had not completed three follow-up appointments per the contract's terms. I called and informed them they refused to send anyone, but this was not good enough, and we would have to pay. To prevent us from being sent to collections, we have paid, but we want to warn anyone else: First, do NOT use them; second, if you have already signed up, make sure you call HQ every time, not local service. Ecoshield is a scam. When they sold me a two-year contract they said I cancel at any time without penalty--but that since I was getting a $200 discount I would have to pay that back if I didn't pay for the first four sprayings. I have now paid for four sprayings, but when I tried to cancel my account today Ecoshield said they would bill me $200 for the discount, even after I explained what their salesman had told me. They said if I didn't pay the $200 within 90 days they would turn the matter over to a collection agency. Their service did no good as far as I could tell, they did not stand behind their salesman's promise and now they're threatening to have a collection agency pester me for the $200. Stick with a local company that provides good service, not this Las Vegas-based bunch of crooks. read more

My initial treatment Derek and another technician was very successful. They were very professional and thorough noting every issue or potential issue. They provided detail information of what they were doing and the product they were using. Also, offered suggestions in reducing pests in troubled areas. He explained how their service works going forward, and several times mentioned to call in between service if I have any issues. It's been 7 days since my initial treatment and do not have any related issues or seen any pests. So far, their service is top notch. read more

Need urgent response due to roach infestation. After a number of calls to the main office (u cant call local office direct). Was told it would be over 2 wks. to get an inspection. Told the girl that wouldnt be acceptable and was disconnected before I could say anything more. The scheduler never called back. After 6 more calls to main office (they couldn't reach the local either). I was told a message was sent and someone would reach out to me in 24 to 48 hrs. On the 3rd day with no calls, I called main office to speak to supervisor. Same story, a message forwarded and someone would get back to me. After another 1 1/2 days, still no call. Cannot count on this service for timely response or service when you need it! I will not renew and advise others to avoid this company. read more

The salesman came to our door and gave us the usual high. Impressive sales pitch. I checked with my neighbor, and they said that the service was good, but would not be specific as to why. So I used my credit card to sign up and was supposed to be getting the substantial discount. Man came out and he did not even do a complete job. they sent out a second Man, who was no better than the first. But they did charge me again for a second visit. then they sent out someone that was supposed to check the garage. Nothing was done there either but yet I was once again charged another fee of over $100. Supposedly any returns to my property was supposed to be at no charge. after four men coming out to my house supposedly to service my house I still have a severe ant problem. The mice issue is still a concern. I texted the sales rep back and advised him that I wanted a refund for the entire situation and to cancel my service. The only response I got was that they were sorry I was not satisfied and they would cancel the service. but of course nothing about refunds. It appears that all this company is interested in is taking our money. If I ran my business this way, I would be out of business and it saddens me that these people can even go home at night and lay their head down and have no concerns or regrets for the way people are treated. Horrible service!! Impossible to cancel. I was charged for first service the tech did not do what he explained he was going to do. I called and sent emails with pictures. I was told the techs were fired and someone would come out and correct the problem... instead they sent someone out and charged me for a second service. Echo Shield is a scam and their salesman are Con-Artist. They come to your door stating they are working in your area offering a discount on a 1 time service. Salesman signed me up for an annual service and I was not aware. When the salesman was asked is this a one time service he said "Yes" this was a lie. Salesman said their products were safe for people and pets, this also is a lie. I had birds dying right after they applied their product and had more bugs. It was not until I called the CS Department I was told they would charge $300 to cancel their service after they were paid $300 already for product that did not work. This company is awful! Avoid this company. They're scamming people. After recently moving back home from Arizona, we fell for the tactic that they serviced my neighbors property. This being a far damper climate than Tucson, we figured there would be a lot more bugs so we signed up for one years service with a quarterly charge. They have some quirk they struggle to explain where you pay five times instead of four when there are clearly only four quarters in a year. The first guy that came out did a great job. He knocked down multiple new wasp nests and put down some insecticide inside and outside the property. We noticed a difference the first quarter. Second quarter rolled around and a different guy shows up to do the quarterly treatment. All he did was knock on the door and then stand in the driveway on his phone for a bit before leaving after doing nothing. Naturally, we had a noticeable increase in spiders, crickets, etc. Third quarter rolled around and I decided to cancel. We sucked it up and paid the $250 cancellation fee rather than pay them three more quarterly payments of $219 for doing nothing. They tried to get me to change my mind after admitting they had a problem with the last guy not doing the treatments, resulting in his termination. In order to entice me to stay, they first offered $15 off this quarterly treatment. I laughed at that explaining that they know the last guy didn't do the treatment yet took my $219. They'd have to offer me at least $219 to get me to stay. She then proceeds to offer me 50% off, which I declined reiterating being already taken for $219. No further offer was given and I gladly cancelled my service. In total, we paid $688 for one bug treatment. You won't find a more expensive exterminator around that won't exterminate anything other than several hundred dollars from your bank account. Save yourself the hassle and just go to Home Depot and buy some concentrated Hot Shot, get a sprayer and spray the perimeter of your house. This is what we did in Arizona and it worked very well. This is what I should have continued to do after moving here and will do moving forward. $8 a bottle every quarter versus $219. This was an expensive lesson for us. Anyways my experience with this company is very unprofessional. I received a text reminder that I was scheduled and service would be performed on 7/6. All day went by I called around 5:30 office was closed, fine. I left a message stating that no one came as scheduled to service my property address today. I then send a text to their "auto response message" got a reply back. I think this is very unprofessional that I didn't receive a call yesterday stating the changes or notifying me. I have had the quarterly treatments from EcoShield for the last 18 months. There has been little to no improvement in the pest situation (spiders, earwigs, ants and so on) in and around my home. They say it will take a few treatments before the process will build up and become noticeably effective so I gave them a few treatments before I became skeptical of the benefits of these treatments. They will talk a big game and sneak you into a multi year contract and then blast you with a $200 early termination fee when you want them to stop service. Granted Nikki was very professional and pleasant, but NO SURPRISE the soonest re-visit she was able to confirm (after consulting with the designated SUPERVISOR) was exactly 8 days from my original call. No issue with the service tech Adam that came back out. He seemed to be very competent and thorough. (Frankly if all your techs were as good, I might still be a customer.) Which brings me to the current issue...true to my word I called to CANCEL all of my services on July 21st at 12:08pm CT. I spoke with Maneesh and after having to decline several "offers" and tell him repeatedly that he was not listening and no amount of discounts would retain me as your customer, he finally agreed to cancel. I requested a confirmation email and asked him to confirm the address to which it should go. SHOCKINGLY 5 days later, I have yet to receive. Beware of this company. I had a year-long contract for pest control services. The contract lists specific dates of payments you must fulfill and they text and or call to let you know when they will be out for each appointment. I fulfilled all the payments and dates of services. During the contract, I had no trouble. I had my last appointment in April of 2022 as per the contract, no problem. In July of 2022, I got a charge on my card from Ecoshield. I called them and they claim that they came out. I explained that my contract ended in April and that I never got a text or call that someone wanted to come out. They claimed that they texted, but they did not. In the past, I always called when I got a text from them so I could schedule the inside to be done as well. In this case I got no call or text and no one came into my home. They also claimed that my contract had to be canceled for charges to end even after the dates on the contract were fulfilled. I have reviewed the contract at great length. There is no such indication that is the case. In fact, the contract is very specific about the payment dates and references completion of the contract. I did in fact pay all the payments listed in the contract and fulfill the terms of my contract. There is absolutely nothing about continuation, a subscription, or canceling after the terms are fulfilled. The entire point of a contract is that both parties agree to the terms and there are zero terms allowing them to continue services or payments after the contract terms are fulfilled. I have called them several times. They refuse to look at the contract and acknowledge that it is not an opened ended subscription etc. They do acknowledge that the contract ended in April. However, they also said many customer choose to continue their services. I explained that I did not choose that, I didn't get notice of a visit to be able to say no, and I didn't authorize an additional charge to my card outside of the contract. They say a manager will call me back, but they do not. I filed a dispute with my credit card company regarding the unauthorized charge. My credit card company says that they fail to respond to their request to provide documentation of the charge being authorized. I have explained to Ecoshield that they are fraudulently charging my card. I also sent Ecoshield a copy of my contract via email so they may review after they claimed they do not have a copy. There has been zero response. I filed a complaint with Illinois consumer protection as I believe they are violating Illinois door-to-door laws as well as other contract laws and am awaiting their response. I have told Ecoshield that they must respond to both the dispute and complaint yet they fail to do so. I have also told them in writing to cease and desist with contacting me for said unauthorized payment. Instead, they send me threatening texts and calls for payment on a claimed service that was not part of the contract or authorized. When you try to call someone local, you are always routed to another country where there are language barriers and they do not have access to anything but a script. I have advised them that I may seek redress in small claims court for harassment, fraud, etc and requested a letter stating the my contract was fulfilled and that I am paid in full as I rightfully am. We shall see if I need to go that far and I certainly will as it seems someone needs to stop this company from preying on people. read more

Harassed my wife by lying to her that a neighbor recommended us to them and then refused to leave our front door after being repeatedly asked to leave. I see that someone from this company likes to respond to these awful reviews, so please expect a phone call from the police department about your company's sales tactics. The problem is that after services and maintenance the pests NEVER went away! They say their job is guaranteed but that's a lie. So after paying and having them come to our home about 4-6 times and seeing NO improvement I decided to cancel. Not only did they charge me $150 to cancel but they were extremely draining! They had me call about 4 times and speak to so many people. (40-50 minute conversations) It was NOT an easy process at all. It was a hassle and after telling me I would be able to cancel without any charge, they proceeded to charge $150. What a waste of time and money. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone. was solicited and told they were in the area servicing our neighbors. sales rep was very friendly and showed me some issues on my property which i appreciated, so i signed up and the sales rep told me they'd be back within a few hours after finishing work on a neighbor's home. i was very disappointed to find, upon looking them up after he'd left, that the business uses this line as a sales tactic and very boldfacedly lies. no shade to the rep, as i understand it's just a job for him, but any business that relies on tactics like that to draw in new customers is not one i trust long term. also had a very difficult cancellation process, requiring me to not call the company but the rep who signed me up (what? how does that make sense?) which i found a bit scummy as well. overall would suggest being wary. their pest control may be decent (i never found out) but their business practices aren't. read more

He not only could put me in the service quickly, but would like to "waive" my initial account fee. In exchange for discount, I must sign up for quarterly service. Any cancellation afterward they "just" required to "pay back" the $150 "discount". How stupid was I to subscript the service, and shortly figured out the initial service was not included, which means I had to pay extra $200 for initial service. Ok, fine, I paid the money and the next day two men showed up and walked around and dusted out my windows and sprayed around my yard. Watching them doing so, I was asking myself, "does this service worth $200?" The guys took away the mouse traps in my basement, placed with theirs, just because as one of them said, 'my house has too many traps.' Anyway, that was the service. I cancelled the service a few days later, just because I was too busy with move-in, otherwise I would cancel it at the spot. I really regret to subscript this UNNECESSARY yet with apparently OVERLY PRICED service. Oh, remember the "discount" they gave you; they asked you to PAY it BACK, $150. For me, this is the same thing as asking for CONCELLATION FEE!! Think about what you can do with $200+$150 = $350? A lot! A brand-new chamberlain garage door open cost $250, with a professional installation $150. Talk about a scam. These people go door-to-door trying to bilk people by trapping them in annual contracts for overpriced pest control. I had been in my new home for less than a month when the high pressure salesman got me. After a 30 minute pitch, I decided to go with it. Why not? I didn't know any better. I was told it would be a 1 year contract consisting of five services. An initial visit, a second visit shortly after, then quarterly visits. Almost immediately I realized I had been scammed. A visit consists of someone coming by for 15 minutes, knocking the cobwebs off the house, and spraying some pesticide...then you get invoiced for $150-200. I still had spiders, moths, everything...they insist that they'll come make it right, but honestly...I bought about $30 worth of pesticides and with 30 minutes of work, got far better results. I didn't bother. I had a card on file with them, yet I'd always end up getting a call to ask for payment. Because of this my account went past due. I was in communication with them already about my dissatisfaction and the late payment, and what do they do? Send a guy out to perform another quarterly service...that makes two services in the dead of winter when nothing is living anyway. A reputable company would stop service since I was behind on payment, but no...they WANT you to rack it up. I told them I'd like to pay my balance and be done with them if that's an option, now they're telling me they're going to invoice me for a "discount payback" - they telling me I need to pay back the coupon they gave me since I'm asking to leave my contract early. By the time all is said and done, I will have spent about $1000 for these scam artists to come out and perform about 2 hours of subpar/unnecessary work over the course of a year. I will be reporting them to the BBB and if one of their greaseball salesmen sets foot on my property ever again, I'll let him know what I think of his employer. Avoid them at all costs!!! Every time I've contacted customer service it resulted in an additional sales pitch from someone who was trying to provide additional services. The issue is the exorbitant price you charge for your service, the fact that you lock people into contracts, and the fact that you continue services for past due accounts. If I stop paying my electricity, it gets shut off...not you guys though because you have nothing to lose. It's ten minutes of work. Rack up the bill and threaten collections. As I stated In my review, the issue is with the business model. I am a new homeowner and I was aggressively sold by a guy who wouldn't take no for an answer and obviously knew I didn't know any better. I live in a two year old home. Maybe these prices are acceptable for an old farmhouse with an infestation, but for me, I basically signed up to have someone walk around my brand new house for ten minutes with a broom and a sprayer to knock down cobwebs and spray for bugs that weren't there...5 times in a year at a rate of $175 per visit, and two of the visits occurred in the midst of a deep freeze. The business model here is very clearly, "set people up for quarterly services, and who cares if some of them are in the winter when nothing is alive anyway. By the time the homeowner sees we don't have any work to do when we come, they're already stuck in a contract. If they complain, offer more services. If they stop paying, keep sending people to do more services to keep the balance climbing. If they try to back out early, tell them $175 for ten minutes worth of work was a deal and now they have to pay back their discount. If they stop paying, threaten collections. Read the reviews, there's a reason they have a horrible reputation. Just a terrible company. Their salesman are sleazy and tell flat out lies. They'll promise that all the pests will be gone after the initial treatments. I walked the property with the salesman and he pointed out all the areas they would treat. After the initial treatments all the same areas have all the same pests. The salesman also tells you that it's pet friendly and then the tech says don't let your pets around the product until it's watered in cause they could get sick. They literally throw this stuff all over your lawn after telling you it's ok for your pets and then afterward tell you it can make your pets sick. When the service doesn't work and you call the company their office will tell you that of course it doesn't work, you didn't get the "free" touch up treatments. You have to have those are it won't work. Then they the defend the lies of the salesman who promised it would work. So basically they will keep sending techs out to throw useless product all over your property that can make your pets sick and will not work. Not only did their services not work for us it made our problems worse. We now have ants that we never had before in our house which is very strange. This is an incredibly expensive service for it not to work. They will also charge you tons of money to get out of the contract that they don't live up to. Their idea of living up to the contract is just by sending techs out again and again, not that your house is pest free. This company tells you lies all around. They will try to talk you into staying in the contract with some discounts and more "free" services. They make their money by keeping you in the contract and charging you quarterly fees. Don't believe anything they tell you and do not sign a contract or give them money. They should be out of business. It was so bad I ended up paying the cancellation fee just be rid of them. They will give you a "discount" for a year-long contract and the contract will mention that if you cancel within a year, you will be charged for the discount (and the first service if you haven't had it yet). Their competitors will hit that same "discounted" price without the "discount". In my case, my father passed away and I needed to sell my home and move home to support my mother and got slapped with a $150 early termination fee.
