Straight up scam. Truly awful experience working with ecoshield. Techs arrived late, uninformed, and sometimes high. We had a TERRIBLE and Manipulative experience involving rodents. We were first told they couldn't get a tech into our home to go look in the attic for rodents. Then, they swiftly changed their mind and arrived. The tech went into the attic and apparently took a bunch of pictures that he showed my husband. Said there were rodent droppings everywhere (on the far side where it's harder for us to get to) and that we needed to get rid of all our insulation and put in new insulation. He came "prepared" with a book of pricing for insulation. Why an exterminator feels he can do insulation work I don't know. Then he left WITHOUT SETTING ANY TRAPS! We went up into the attic later and so NO EVIDENCE of rodents or their droppings as shown on the tech's phone. We were lied to or at best manipulated. They wanted us to spend thousands on work we didn't need, and did NOTHING to set traps or bate around the home. We later had a different service provider over that confirmed we did NOT have a rodent problem in the attic and there were no droppings. This is deceitful, amoral, and not a way to run a business. When we reported this to ECOshield they didn't even apologize, let alone release us from our contract or try to make it right. Every time they arrived for our yellow jacket problem, they had no notes as to where the problem was, how it it was treated the last time, etc. THey were never prepared to deal with the problems and every issues to many many attempts to mitigate Scheduling is poor. They do not give you notice when they come and often don't get inside the home because it isn't properly scheduled. Techs are uninformed and a few times have come into my home under the influence - with small children this felt dangerous, uncomfortable, and unprofessional. read more

Unethical company. Refuses to honor agreed upon treatment area. They conveniently didn't upload that page though (the one with the drawing of the property and notes on it with additional signatures/initials, but I have it. Was customer for about 3 years then suddenly they started only doing 1/4 of my yard after I fenced in a small portion for my dogs. Before they were doing the whole yard. When I called they said that's all I'm paying for. Yeah, because that was the deal! In exchange for agreeing to both recurring pest and mosquito treatments with the field salesman, I'd get a my entire yard sprayed for the cost of a 1/4 acre. I even have video from my security cameras from them doing service before and after I installed the fence. Ever since the fence went up for the dogs, they only spray inside the fence. read more

Had my payment removed from their file(have proof) admit they don't have it and then attempt to steal your credit card that is magically on file suddenly(have proof of them entering it on their own). I have NEVER been harassed by anyone, let alone a business, like this in my life. Not only is this so called business unethical, their workers are lazy(talk on the phone while attempting to spray), they almost killed my dog by leaving my gate open, they took zero responsibility for their mistake, I heard back from no one for an apology.. I could go on and on. When I called to tell them they'd never step foot on my property again their only concern was I would pay off my remaining balance. I explained I only signed with them when they assured me that gate would be shut every time the leave. After 12 calls to 12 different people a manager finally told me I'd have to pay one more service call with a 50.00 reduction(their way of apologizing). Then I'd never hear from them again. Well that was Feb. this May I get a text saying they're coming to spray and I owe the full amount. They've contacted me 27 times over the last 3 days. Still never bringing up my dog. BUYER BEWARE!! Very strong and manipulative sales tactics. I was told that it was $250/year for a bug solution, which seems reasonable. The contract is not legible from the small tablet they have you sign. When I received the email contract, I saw that it was $250 per quarter. Who would pay $1000 per year for bug spraying. I called my rep and he told me that he would reduce my payment to $150 and that with the other sales he had made in the neighborhood (by using my name without my permission), he would knock my Q2 payment to $75. When they came in Q2, they charged me $199 which was not part of the contract or what he told me. I immediately asked him /and the org to cancel my contract. They have a $250 cancellation fee. Now they are threatening to take threatening to take me to collections for not paying the $250 cancellation fee. I've never had an experience like this. In fact, this is the first negative review I've ever written. This is a horrible business with a bad business model. read more

Been with EcoShield for about 6 years now and I live in the Schaumburg area! I've always felt my technician has knocked it out of the park with every service! I used to use Aptive and then Terminix before them, but EcoShield really just puts more time and effort into the service and they really seem to know what they're doing because the service seems much more effective, than what I've used in the past! Definitely worth the price especially when you compare to Terminix or Aptive! read more

But the reality is if you do not cancel in writing within 3 day they will charge you a cancellation fee of $200 dollars. the unscrupulous tactic here is that they will try to push out your next sales call "to answer your questions" past the cancellation window to lock you in They also don't inform the contract is for 2 years not 1 year. making the cost doubled. they make you sign on a small phone or tablet without being able to read the contract, then they have you confirm in the moment by text. this is why they are predatory. Chris was VERY professional. He answered my questions and sprayed inside and outside....and the garage. I've used this company for probably 10 years and have no problems except with a spider once in awhile. My neighbors have many spiders and ants, but EcoShield keeps them at bay for me. Chris asked several times if he could help me with anything (I was working in the garage). Very willing to help lift or move something for me. I didn't need any help, but it was so nice of him to offer. He was dressed professionally and very friendly. He is an excellent "face of EcoShield" all the way around!!!! read more

I had a man come to my house and give me the great intro in how they work and all I have to do is pay a fee of $189 and it would cover me for over a few months and I could cancel anytime. Right away I should have known. Still have a insect problem, then when I stated that I want to cancel, now I being charged $200!? Are you serious?! That was never told to me. I signed up for EcoShield very recently. When the tech came a couple days later, he threw granules over over our porch, driveway, entrance to our split level family room entrance. A huge mess. I contacted the sales person and told him I wanted to cancel the service but he came out and asked me if I had a broom to clean stuff up. He mostly cleaned things up but we have still tracked this stuff in the house and we found it on the paws of our cat and on the carpet in our bedroom. When I called to cancel this morning, the representative tried to keep me as a customer by offering a 50% discount. I persisted. It was difficult. I had to put my foot down. Very annoying. These guys came by our house three times this summer, telling us that our neighbors have hired them to take care of their ant problems. They are super aggressive. We said no each time and guess what I found outside our garage, on the alley side? You guessed it...a HUGE ant hill/dirt mound. When I blew it away, the ants started biting my ankles. Never in Illinois have I been bitten by an ant! And, we have never had an ant problem in the garage. I know ants are everywhere, but I find it odd that now we have an ant problem. I have read that these guys plant ant eggs around the homes that don't hire them. Is our new ant issue a coincidence? Maybe, or maybe not. read more

Called to cancel after seeing a worsening in activity after 3 treatments and they repeatedly failed to schedule the "free follow-up treatments for 100% satisfaction." They lowered the cost to $109/treatment. To cancel my contract they said I owed them $150, which is the amount they discounted for the initial treatment.... They literally just make these numbers up! Now I'm liable to pay them $150 for a service they just valued at $109? If they offered me a $150 discount on a $109 service, wouldn't that mean they owe me $41? That'd be nice! Terrible business and I'm disappointed in myself for falling prey to their front door sales tactics. I tried cancelling after first visit. They only sprayed a few rooms in my house and left . I called the company and they said due to contract I had to continue with their service or pay a huge fine . They have been out 4 different times changing the day of appointment through text which we were unavailable. And only spraying the front of our house . We have no fence or pet that would cause them not to use the backyard . They never removed any wasp nest . When I called and asked why? they said they don't do that service. I told them after the 3 visits I no longer want their service. They came out an additional time and tried charging my expired credit card . They have now sent me into a collection agency . There were not represented as being constantly necessary by your sales person. They don't work anyway. I never would have signed up for your service if I had known that a.) it didn't do anything to cure the ants and spiders in my yard no matter how many times they came back or b.) that I was tied to a 7 year contract that I could never get out of no matter how useless the service was. Any legitimate business is concerned more about its customers than locking people into a contract that they could never get out of. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. It's completely a scam. Don't use them, otherwise, you will be trapped. When try to cancel multiple times no confirmation was sent. I had to go through several rounds to get cancellation done, they even told me that the representative I spoke with before was no longer working with the company, therefore, there's no records showing what we had agreed upon. The worst, The treatments seemed to be effective, but that's not my issue with them. EcoShield is the worst because they engage in deceptive business practices. How? Well, see when they sign you up, and you ask "what if I cancel?", the salesman (whom I don't think l was responsible for this, TBH) will tell you that your first service discount will be your cancellation fee. Quarterly service is $179, first service was discounted to $129. $50 fee to cancel, fine. However, when I decided to cancel because we're planning some yard work and it didn't make sense to keep the service. Called to cancel....VERY DIFFICULT and an offshore call center (read: language barrier) so that was not awesome. I then find out that my cancellation fee is actually **$200**. Yeah, no. It seems that the tablet "contract" you sign can be altered, because I read it carefully before signing. Turns out the first service was changed to $329, this raising the fee from $50 to $200. I bear some of the blame for not thoroughly reading the invoices, but the recurring charges lined up with what I had been promised, so I didn't worry too much about it. Shame on me, but you can learn from my mistake. Choose a local vendor, not a franchise of a national company that engages in these types of practices. read more
