Be prepared to walk into the definitions of home town diner. The service was good. Each waitress was running back and forth to keep everyone happy and drinks full. It was a true team effort. Very cute local spot located in Staples Mill. We love diners and this one fit the bill. Booths are separated with hazy plastic or plexi glass. Servers wearing masks. Loved the interior decor and colors. It's bright and simple. I ordered the Chorizo Hash and it did not disappoint! It's a must get! So much flavor and very filling. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try out, what appeared to be, a Richmond charm. We arrived and saw they were busy and a sign that said wait to be seated. We were the only ones at the door and they had atleast 5 ladies busy at work helping customers. We waited and waited with no acknowledgment that we were there. A waitress grabbed two menus, presumably for us, from a storage rack on the wall. She then began holding a personal conversation with another waitress shortly joined by a third. We waited for another 30 seconds or so and then walked out. A waitress followed us out and said she would seat us. We politely declined and she did apologize. We may have only waited 3 minutes but that's an eternity to stand there and feel awkward because no one even acknowledged us. The final straw was the personal conversation completely ignoring us. It's a shame because we were looking forward to trying this diner out. The service industry is losing the mentality that each customer needs to be earned. My husband and I came across this place when we were eating at the Vietnamese Pho restaurant next door. I've been here several times now and this is the place to go to for a good cheap meal. I recommend this location for breakfast/brunch/post-race recovery food - haha. The last time I was here, I took my best friend to this place for a breakfast spot before hitting up a winery. I have not had any bad experience with anything listed on their menu. I would highly recommend getting their Beach Orange Crush (which does contain alcohol) with whatever you decide to order. My favorites are their menu specials - which are their Benedict. I don't know what it is, but I also tend to order the Rappahannock oyster Benedict, which are fried oysters with poached eggs over an english muffin. It comes with a side of crispy hashbrown. My husband is the adventure one here who has tried their spicy breakfast burrito, breakfast and meat loaf, and breakfast chili - ALL have been pretty interesting. I do want to eventually try out their lunch menu one day, their sandwiches look pretty delish. My favorite part of the diner is the little statue butler at the front. (Who has been MIA for the past few weeks due to a broken...arm? haha I don't remember. But he has been "in the shop" the last time I was in there.) I've driven past this place so many times since moving to Lakeside and it just doesn't look like much on the outside. On the inside? It's much bigger than it looks, plenty of seating, and the decor is all coral pink! I love the vibe - very chill and efficient. All the servers seem to help each other with all tables. I ordered the Hermitage and replaced the chicken and dumpling gravy with sausage gravy and it was so good. Their fried chicken was SO flavorful and the biscuit was a lovely texture. My partner ordered the Pimento Fried Green Tomato Benny, which I had to have a bite (or 3) of. Their pimento was so yummy and the fried green tomatoes were soft but not mushy.
