Not usually a big fan of ramen but decided to try the Ginger Scallion Noodles which were brothless. Good ginger flavor that was not too overwhelming, but like most ramen noodles I wasn't too impressed. Located on Brady so not a ton of parking options, but would suggest parking on a side residential street and walking a bit. Loved the atmosphere and the vibe inside, the place was bigger than it looked from the outside. I love Brady and hadn't tried Easy Tyger, I'm not the biggest fan of ramen, but WOW the butter corn ramen was amazing! I ate the whole bowl, I loved the broth and the fried tofu. The display of the ramen was presentable, the food was hot. I really enjoyed the Bao bun apps, the fried chicken bao was smackin. The pineapple sangria was just okay. If you've got an itch for ramen, Easy Tiger scratch it. I did not expect to be this pleased with a ramen place since my bar has been set pretty high from phenomenal past ramen experiences. It's very easy to walk right past the place if you're not paying attention--there isn't a clear sign outside. However, I think this gives the place a bit of hole-in-the-wall charm. Although we were seated immediately, service was a bit slow, likely just due to a heavy volume and being short staffed that night. Nevertheless, our server was very nice and knowledgeable, and gave us Sake novices some good recommendations. My boyfriend and I ordered crab rangoons to start (highly recommend). For entrees we got the tonkotsu and shoyu ramen. The tonkotsu comes as a very rich broth with a pickled egg and veggies. It was a VERY generous portion, my bf, who almost never gets a to-go box, wasn't able to finish it all. The shoyu is a very fresh, herby broth, it didn't feel like too much and was easy to finish. One of our favorite things about Easy Tyger was the sake selection. We ordered a flight, and our favorite was the coconut sake. I would highly recommend trying a few different sake to see what you may like! Overall we had a really pleasant date night at Easy Tyger. Please please please do yourself a favor and try their chicken tenders with either the Korean BBQ sauce or Sweet Chili sauce. It's one of my favorite comfort foods. I LOVE Easy Tyger. I am so happy with the way they are handling business during a pandemic. They make sure people are wearing masks when they aren't eating, and they have socially distanced tables. The waitress was extremely kind and one of the employees made me kiddie chopsticks because I'm not able to use chopsticks. Their menu is very vegetarian friendly. I ordered the tofu bao buns...and they are TO DIE FOR. The rice, and the vegetarian ramen is also very delicious. I haven't gone wrong with any of their dishes. They're melt in your mouth delicious: salty, sweet, and savory. There's nothing more to love. I also ordered their Thai Coconut Chili Ramen which officially takes the spot for best ramen I've had in Milwaukee. The ambiance is very chill. Very yummy spot for Ramen in the heart of the Eastside. Located in a cute Brady St spot. The Ramen offers so many warm inviting broths. I've taken fancy with the spicy miso. My carnivore friends have too. I must tell you, though, that the knockout dish is their Brussel sprouts. If you know me, you know I'm a sucker for this dish. Seriously, I haven't had a better version in Wisconsin. I lived in Madison a few years if that helps give validation. Ha. But truly, they are so divine. Packed with flavor and just the right amount of charred. We shared the tofu steam buns, and they were excellent. They offer many meat versions of these buns too. So, don't be afraid of a vegetarian's review. Come by and try some appetizers or a steaming hot bowl of noodles. If you need gluten-free Ramen, they offer that too. They make cocktails, too, but I didn't find them to be worthy of a mention. They will do just fine but not cocktail bar level. read more

As the saying goes, "third time's the charm." We were planning to go to Balzac, but it was closed for a private event so we walked next door to La Masa. Our grumbling stomachs weren't into the idea of waiting for a table to clear, so we (somewhat hopelessly) walked down the block to Easy Tyger. It was my first time in here and I was very happily surprised by the experience! Even though it wasn't our top choice of restaurant, it just might be next time I'm out dining on Brady. It's a spacious restaurant, with lots of different seating options: mix of small and large tables, low and high top, and bar seating as well as table service. Lots of interesting art, unique paintings, and plants - it's a hip place with a modern aesthetic. The service was good, although at times we felt rushed by our waitress, despite the fact that it was by no means busy. We started with the Spicy Tuna Wontada , which was very delicious but also very difficult to eat. If you don't mind a little bit of a mess, this is a great appetizer. The Cucumber Seaweed Salad was also delicious-very refreshing! There was a special ramen that wasn't on the menu, so we couldn't pass that up. It was a spicy mushroom/vegetable ramen. It had a kick, so it was nice to have the seaweed salad to cleanse the palate. Let's talk about the Brussels Sprouts. Get them. Even if you don't usually like them. I promise you, you will like them. We finished off the meal with a slice of the chocolate pie with graham cracker crust. I'm very glad that we just got one dessert to share amongst the three of us, because it was very rich and I wouldn't have been able to eat it all myself. Overall lovely experience! Loved this place! I haven't had ramen in a hot second so this was a great first experience in Milwaukee! Food was reasonably priced for how large the portion was. Food tasted AMAZING! I ordered the butter corn ramen dish and the flavors were delish. For an appetizer we ordered the Rangoons and they were so creamy and warm! The sweet chili dip is a must! My boy friend who is a self proclaimed picky eater also really loved it (he ordered the beefy boy)! I'm giving 4 stars just for the prices of the alcohol menu, kinda pricy and they were just okay. Ordered the yuzu margarita. I got a try of the mochi desert balls and 10/10 you should definitely order. Overall, really cute and nice service. Easy Tyger was a great place for a weeknight meal with a dear friend. It advertises itself as an Asian gastropub, so we did not know really what to expect. The pork tacos I had were amazing, but I did not like beef brisket bao bun. My friend got noodles, and they were a bit too salty. Overall, it was not a horrible experience. An incredible spot and a great combo to pair bao and ramen. Fries were among the crispiest and freshest I've had, and we've been to a -lot- of different little independent restaurants. Every bit of our meal was delicious, perfectly balanced and well worth the moderate pricing - with one notable exception being the tonkatsu pork broth in my ramen. It was SO salty, I had to assume a mistake in the kitchen. And I like salty food. This was akin to seawater saltiness. This was like when you mix salt in water to gargle when you were a kid with a sore throat. It was so salty, even the few drops clinging to the fished-out noodles in chopsticks made THEM too salty. I knew right away it would be borderline dangerous to my health to have more than a few sips - not that the salt bomb provided many other discernable flavors i was missing out on. It seemed certain I was going to tell the waitress to have the chef check it, and he would come scurrying out of the kitchen, shocked and terrified and profusely embarrassed that he'd served it. To her credit, the server did readily remove the dessicating ocean broth from our ticket. The only hiccup being, I never heard for sure if it was a mistake in the kitchen! She indicated that many of her tables had complained about the saltiness in the past! But still, I will give them the benefit of the doubt in this instance, I find it hard to imagine that any sober person with taste buds could have finished a bowl of salt like this. I have seen people complain about saltiness when it was simply a sensitive preference thing by folks looking for things to complain about. Especially considering how carefully balanced everything else was flavor-wise, this -had- to have been a mistake. Still a solid restaurant that I heartily recommend. As a recent transplant from San Francisco, I realized how spoiled I've been by amazing food everywhere all the time. After four months in Milwaukee, I've finally found truly amazing food! Our party of four started with a cucumber seafood salad that was bright and crisp with many layers of deliciousness. Next, we split the fried chicken and tofu bao buns. Wow! They were perfect ... from the puffiness of the bun, to the touches of pickled vegetables to the bun-filling ratio. We were all approaching full before our ramen even arrived! I had the special that night, which was a vegetarian garlic broth full of veggies. Others had the tonkatsu and the beefy boy. Everyone agreed the food was simply amazing! Perfectly cooked noodles (a bit too many for my taste, but this can easily be remedied), complex, multi-layered broth (key in ramen!) and fresh, unusual vegetables and crispy tofu beautifully prepared. I came here simply because a) it's nearby and b) they offered not one, but two truly vegetarian ramen dishes. (A lot of places here say their ramen is vegetarian, but it's made with pork broth.) Really nice Ramen joint but with some nontraditional twists. Started with the pork belly bao buns. Tasty. Nice chashu pork, braised and flavorful. Was a little different then other pork belly buns I've had as this had a type of cucumber salad with some shreded carrots and a spicy sauce. Was very good but a little different. Also had what was listed on the menu as seaweed salad but noticed it was listed on the bill as a cucumber salad. Again this was different then other seaweed salad's that I've had and as suggested by the bill, had a fair amount of sliced cucumber mixed in. Thought it was so-so and would have preferred a more traditional seaweed salad. Had the tonkotsu ramen as the main, with added corn. The broth was a nice creamy tonkotsu base broth, although it was fairly heavily spiced with some chili flakes. Nice but I'd probably rather have had a regular tonkotsu broth. Plenty of toppings: pork belly, nori, bamboo shoot, ginger, fish cake, scallion, and marinated egg. The pork belly again was the braised chashu and very flavorful. Three nice sized pieces of chashu. The egg was soft boiled just about right but appeared to have been prepared before hand and refrigerated and pulled out and put still cold. The noodles were a bit chewy and while I like al dente noodles, they seemed like they could have been cooked slightly longer. I read elsewhere the noodles were pre-prepared elsewhere, which is a shame as they probably were holding back the overall ramen a bit. Overall a worthy ramen joint. As I mention a few twists, and I would prefer for the example a more traditional seaweed salad and tonkotsu broth. Very good overall however. read more

Roar, Roar, Roar! I went back for more! This is my second review for Easy Tyger and I am more impressed with this restaurant. They have proven to consistently serve food that is delicious and bursting with "Out of this world flavors." Just a side note: parking can be difficult to find and the restaurant signage is not that visible, because you could easily miss it if you're not looking carefully. For starters I had the Crispy Tofu Bao Bun and the Fried Brussels Sprouts. The sauce on the Bao Bun has a nice sweet & spicy flavor that has just the right amount of sweet to balance out the heat. Their Brussels sprouts are amazing and would pair nicely with anything on the menu. The entree items I had were the Spicy Ramen and the Buttered Ramen and yet again this is the best ramen I have ever had. I'm afraid to try Ramen from other restaurants because I'm afraid they might not meet my expectations. Easy Tyger has set a high bar when it comes to ramen. Again the service was great as always and if you like any of the art on the walls most of them are for sale. So get out and give Easy Tyger a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Noodles: bought packaged, not made fresh in store but have a nice amount of chewiness. 5/10 Broth: quite good! Tonkotsu broth definitely out shines the miso broth. 6.5/10 Toppings: included were Roasted pork belly, slow egg, nori, togarashi, scallion, sesame - all very fresh and egg was perfectly cooked! 9/10 Service: Food comes out fast and servers are nice. I've lived on Brady street for 7 years and only just tried this place a couple months ago. Since then, I've been back several more times because it's absolutely amazing. The ramens are top notch, but there is a good selection of non-ramen options if you're not feeling it. The restaurant has a really cozy feeling, but is surprisingly large once you get in there. Enough tables to get a seat pretty easily on weekdays without a reservation. We have never had any issues with service, and have seen many groups of all shapes, sizes and ages. EDIT: After posting about this I was reached out from others saying that they had the same experience I did. This wasn't the first but hopefully it can be the last. Was a huge let down. I live on brady street and bartend on it as well. The staff was BEYOND rude. I rarely leave reviews but Ive never been so blatantly disrespected by staff in my life. I ask permission to hold some seats at the bar which I was GIVEN permission while my friends were parking on a Saturday night. Then what I assume was the manager (short gray hair women) then proceeded to try to pick a fight with me because the bar is first come first serve which I understand but then again I was given the green light for. She then proceeded to talk behind my back to other customers in front of me. Making comments about someone she doesn't know about an issue that was the restaurants fault to begin with. But instead she was making rude comments about me blatantly. I tried to brush it off as my friends came in that maybe she was having a bad day. ONLY for the bartender to be so incredibly mean. I had to literally ask him why he was being so mean to me he almost made me want to cry because I was so confused what I did. It made me loose my appetite. He was walking away from me mid sentence more than once on purpose. He said he's mad at everything but I dont see how it makes it okay to take it out on a customer. I work in the service industry I understand it can be frustrating at times but that doesn't make it okay to be mean to the customers and eye roll when they need help. My friend was visiting from florida and she said she doesn't want to come back to milwaukee after that experience because they were that mean. Lots of big name bartenders heard about my story after we left because it was so shocking. This really put a bad reputation on Easy Tiger and I cannot believe the owner wants to have people like that represent the company. Easy tiger did not loose one customer but more so a brady street community of people. I had dinner at Easy Tyger Friday night with two others. It wasn't busy, but business was steady when we arrived. I like the design an color scheme. It gave a slightly upscale feel, but I don't think it came across as "stuffy." When we sat, we were warmly greeted soon after by our server Gabby. The noise level was fairly low, so we were able to talk and hear each other without elevating our voices. The food menu lists lunch on one side and dinner on the other. The theme is small plates, some might call the selections "fusion" or "continental," and dinner items range from $5 to $15. The cocktail lists offered a handful of items ranging from $10 to $14, but wine and beer is also available. At first glance, we thought the drink list was priced a bit on the high side. One of my dining mates ate Vegan. While some items on the menu can be altered for vegetarians, vegans won't find much to work with. The chef was able to make the Farro Bibimbap as vegan for her, pretty much by just leaving out the egg. We all had a taste and that dish was very good. The flavor was outstanding and the textures were right on. My friend and I shared the Pig Ear Nachos, Chicken Liver and Chorizo, Pork Belly and Clams, and the Octopus. The Pig Ear Nachos ($5) are made with crispy strips of pig ear and topped with pickled chili pepper, lime crema, cilantro and cotija cheese. I enjoyed the flavors from the start. My friend didn't like it much at first but the dish grew on her, and she said it was probably her favorite of the four we shared. I'm not a fan of liver in any form, but I was willing to try the Chicken Liver and Chorizo ($11). Chunks of chicken liver and diced chorizo are served with potatoes and garnished with watercress, grape, and a port wine gastrique. Guess what? I still don't like liver! However, my friend enjoyed it more than I did. I tried to focus on the other ingredients on the plate. The Octopus ($14) is seared and prepared Mediterranean style with eggplant, tomato, capers, fennel, marcona almonds, watercress, all over a piquillo pepper puree and finished with sherry vinegar. We enjoyed the dish, but I think $14 is too much for what was on the plate, I would order it again at $10 or $11, at most. The Port Belly and Clams ($13) features port belly confit, littleneck clams, chickpeas and harissa, The broth was delicious and the clams were cooked perfectly. The pork belly was crispy on the bottom layer and was good, but lacked the salty and savory flavors I expect in pork belly. Surprisingly, I thought the best tasting dish was the Farro Bibimbap. While the other dishes were good, none of them packed a "wow!" factor. However, based on this visit, I think the kitchen is capable of it. The drinks were fine, but not memorable. What was memorable was the outstanding service we received from Gabby! She was very friendly and accommodating by checking on vegan options, granting our request to take our picture, and just her overall attentiveness and positive attitude. If she didn't know about an item, she went to get more details on it. Thank you, Gabby! Overall, I like what Easy Tyger is doing. They'e only been open a few weeks, so I expect there will be some tweaking done. Considering how new they are, I was impressed with my visit, and I certainly plan to dine there again some time. read more
