WARNING Don't trust what an Eagle Shield Representative promises you! This is what the CEO of the company, Garrett Harwood, told the Better Business Bureau on 8/26/2010. His exact words were, "We told the customer that we as a company never go by verbal promises ever made by our staff or our customer base as verbal promises can be and usually are misleading." This alone should stop you from signing any contract with this company. Let me share with you my family's story. We, just like you, are a family in need of reducing the overwhelming and never ending rise of our utility costs. We were attracted to an advertisement on Sacramento and Company that appeared to be just what we needed to reduce our power consumption and also reduce our utility bill. We contacted the company and they sent a salesman to our home who painted a picture of a full proof system which he said would reduce our electric bill by at least 30%. After being impressed by a smooth talking salesman, getting late into our evening, my husband signed their contract after being assured that we would witness all of the following advantages. 1. Savings in electric use thus lowering our bill. 2. Increased comfort in our home. 3. If not completely satisfied our money would be refunded. We were also told that he would offer us a discount of $800.00 if we signed that night. He said we had nothing to lose and everything to gain. We bought into his promises hook line and sinker and had their radiant barrier product installed on 7/10/2009. A few days after having their product installed in our home and noticing that it was not more comfortable, but seemed warmer and stuffy, I decided to open the folder left by our salesman to look at the contract and money back guarantee. Upon closer review of this document I realized that this was not the guarantee I was told it was. This was only a contract and did not include a guarantee at all. We contacted the salesman and he quickly mailed us one. Upon receiving and reviewing the guarantee it was clear to us that it was not at all a money back guarantee. In fact all it told us is what we don't have. You only have a warranty if you sign and send in the paperwork to them certified mail within 15 days of install. You must have all PG&E bills for one year prior and 5 years after install. You must remove and return the product to Eagle Shield at your expense. Yes, this means you must go up in your attic, roll up the radiant barrier, and return it to them. After all these steps, plus a few more not mentioned, Eagle Shield determines the net amount of your refund. After numerous calls and messages left to have someone explain their so called warranty to us we finally spoke with their VP of sales. She claimed that there is no way their product isn't working. By this time we had received a utility bill without any savings at all, and our home is much less comfortable. Realizing that they were not going to honor their word, we filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. We explained to them our situation and they sent our complaint off to the company. The CEO, Mr. Garrett Harwood, responded with what looked like a form letter and then completely ignored the issue until our case was closed as unresolved and the BBB had revoked their accreditation status taking them from an A- rating to a C-. Then on 10/14/2010 I checked the website and noticed the the Better Business Bureau gave them back their A- rating and accreditation status without contacting us regarding the status of our case. I inquired about this and eventually got a call back from the Better Business Bureau upper management. It was explained to me that they decided to give Eagle Shield another chance. I had a real misconception about what the Better Business Bureau does to protect consumers. Giving this company a chance is setting up another consumer to be ripped off. Now I understand that the Better Business Bureau protects the businesses above all. The BBB has the perfect title. Better for the Business. In actuality the BBB is giving the public a false sense of security when they give a favorable rating to Eagle Shield Inc. Eagle Shield tells the consumer what they want to hear. The salesman can say anything verbally, but ask them to put it in writing and see what they tell you. Their product does not do what they say it does. Eagle Shield is preying on the consumer's need to reduce expenses in these hard economic times. This issue is not over. read more

We set an appointment up to have Eagle Shield install a radiant barrier and a solar exhaust fan in our attic, add a whole house fan in our ceiling, and clean all of our existing ducts for our 3200 square foot home. The schedule was to start at 7:00 am last Monday. They sent out two crews, one for the duct cleaning and the other for install of barrier and fans. The guys showed up on time and ready to go. All six crew members were pleasant, fun, and knowledgeable. Tommy explained the duct cleaning process and that it also included sealing of every duct at the register. Most of our registers were installed with as much a 1/2 inch gap to the drywall which is typical construction practices if your home was built before 2010. I am pleased to share that now they are all taped up, sealed so we will not lose anymore energy from the large gaps. My wife was so pleased to see how they vacuum all the dust and goodies out of the ducks resulting in no debris or dust left for her to have to wipe up. David headed up getting both fans and radiant barriers installed in one day. You know how salesman can promise you the world so I was reluctant to think the whole house fan would bring in the cool air as promised. I questioned that we would achieve a possum 5 year return on our investment but it did make sense to install that radiant barrier to stop the current energy losses and get that attic cooled down. Tuesday and Wednesday had outside temps at 98 so this provided a real good test of our new Eagle Shield system. I am pleased to report we turned on the whole house fan Tuesday morning for one hour and the cool air swarmed into our home through the cracked windows to cool her home down to 72° by 8:00 am. This made it comfortable till 3 PM when we turned the air conditioner on till to 4 PM. We found the AC cooled the house down faster than previously. We did not use air conditioning the rest of the day and at 9 PM we turn the whole house fan on again and the outside cool air came rushing in. I never thought we could get by with using an air conditioner for only one hour on a day when temps are 98°. I can stick my head up in the attic during the day and it is not sweltering up there because the solar exhaust fan turns on at 80° so all that hot air gets out of the attic. So you can imagine how we highly recommend Eagle Shield and know why NASSA does too. If you are considering doing these kind of improvements in your home I would suggest to it as soon as you can. I watched a Sac & Co program during my break on ABC 10 on a Thursday 8/5. The CEO of Eagle Shield was talking about some green energy and efficient insulation products that had endorsement from NASA. I was skeptical but when a free energy audit was offered I figured there was no harm in checking it out. I was surprised when I called the 800# given on TV I got through to a real life person who had excellent customer service skills by the way. He was able to fit me in the free audit schedule for the very next day Friday 8/6. On the day of my audit, I was blown away when the CEO of the company himself shown up on my doorsteps to do the energy audit on my house. Garrett was very knowledge and the information he shared with me made me convinced the energy efficient products that Eagle Shield was promoting was indeed the real deal and quality products. The prices he quoted me was fair and reasonable. There were some Tax incentives as well. He made short work of the paperwork and managed to fit me in for installation work the next day. It's no wonder why his company is so successful. Let me start by saying that Eagle Shield is AWESOME. I don't have a huge family, but before recently re-locating to Georgia, I used Eagle Shield's services for attic insulation and artificial turf around my pool area. Generally speaking, the services were affordable for the job they did.  I keep a lot of keepsakes, toys, and miscellaneous items in the attic for my kids and my house. Before the insulation, the attic was entirely too hot for me or my husband to be up there for more than 10 minutes before we were soaked.  The crew from Eagle Shield came over and had a Batt Insulation done very professionally, were great interacting with my kids, and took the time to actually explain [in layman's terms] what was going on with the process. Because service was so great for the insulation, I called them back to put down turf in the backyard where constant walking and yard work was keeping grass from growing around the pool. Again, super professional and friendly workers and great results. I like the artificial turf because they actually took their time working which makes it look extremely real. The turf obviously doesn't feel like real grass, but it looks like a perfect version of the real thing.  Pros of Eagle Shield are: They're really affordable, professional, and friendly. I've had the services for about 4 months now, and the attic insulation does wonders for the heat and so far, it's keeping a decent temperature while it's getting colder. Cons of Eagle Shield are: I wish they had more locations. I love the fact that they serve northern California, but I need them in the South! I am a single Mom living in a 2 story condo built in the early 80's in Livermore with single pain windows. In the winter the house gets very cold and the heater runs all day and the upstairs is extremly hot and the down stairs is still cold and the summers are very hot. I was looking for something to keep the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer that would not break my bank acct. and lower my PG&E bill. We left for a week and when we returned the house was freezing. I thought it did not work and it is going to take all day to warm up and the heater is going to have to run all day, to my amazment it did not take all day to warm up, I lowered the temp and the heater did not turn on and off all day like it used to. The next test would be summer. Summer came and if I keep the windows closed and the drapes closed the house will stay cool with out turning on the A/C till about 5pm ish. So what a savings. Over all I am pleased the product, my house does get a bit stuffy so I have learned to turn on the ceiling fans to circulate the air and and we are very comfortable. Follow Up: We've only had Eagle Shield in our home now for a couple of months and I felt compelled to share about how truly amazing this product truly is. I live in El Dorado Hills, Ca where PG&E has frequent Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). Once again, we will be left without air conditioning in the middle of Summer. Since having Eagle Shield installed, our home has become remarkably cooler and more comfortable. I am watching as our PG&E solar "True up" bill is getting smaller and not larger as our costs to cool our home are diminishing. I can count the number of times we have had to use our air conditioner since having Eagle Shield installed so the wear and tear on our cooling system has been greatly reduced due to its minimal usage. Unlike a solar powered system, which is subject to maintenance and mechanical difficulties, Eagle Shield is not. It is a one time expense that continues to add tremendous comfort to a home without the need for firmware upgrades, inverter problems, solar panel cleaning, etc. I have been so impressed by this product that I posted it on the "Next Door" app to share with everyone in my community. All that I can say is that this stuff really works and it doesn't work with minimal effectiveness but with tremendous results. We had Garrett out a year ago last November. Just wanted to give an update now that we are going into our second summer. I hate high pressure; none with this company..loved it. It's kind of funny, we always feel like our house is wrapped in a blanket. In the winter, it seems to hold the heat in. And, in the summer, in seems to hold the cool in. Love it!! We have two attic fans in our attic. They were on all the time before the install. Now its like they're not working. I even went up and turned them off of auto just to see if they still worked. And they did! Just don't need them anymore. We live in Sun City Roseville, so it gets hot. And again, I don't understand it all, but I do know that it works. We do the yearly bill with PG&E. It use to run about $50 a month. This year, $4.00 a month! That is just for gas, but still crazy. Our electric has dropped about $60.00 a month. I almost spent $20,000 on solar,but did not need to. And now, if we do decide to go solar, we will only need half the solar panels. We were very happy with the company and the crew, and it was a pleasure meeting Garrett. We would highly recommend this company. It is almost 100 here today and the air has not come on. Temp in the house is holding at 78. Hooray! Last summer it would come on about 4 for about a half hour or so and then go off for a couple of hours. Before that, it would come on in the morning and be on all afternoon. Eagle Shield Insulation has worked on my attic and basement, and I was very happy with their work. They provided fast help, I called them and they were there in a few hours, which is a rarity with contractors. Usually you have to wait forever until a contractor arrives; other contractors would have made me wait for several days. Eagle Shields guys were friendly (one of them had a wicked sense of humor), and they made the process as smooth as possible. My home is staying much cooler. I don't have to run the air-conditioning as much as before. One thing I enjoyed the most was the representative Sherman. I just thought he was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, non-pressuring, and he had incredibly good people skills. Also, the installer was very efficient, clean and very well mannered.
