Beyond easy experience with Chris. My dryer suddenly started giving off a burning smell, which I mistakenly attributed to the lint catch being overloaded. But even after cleaning it out, the smell wasn't going away. Then the vent started giving off either smoke or steam, and in a panic I immediately turned off the dryer. Thank God I didn't start a dryer fire. The second I shut it off and made sure everything was ok, I opened Yelp and searched for a dryer vent cleaner. Chris's Insulation came up, he had great ratings, he was super close by, so after calling a different service and going to voicemail, I called Chris. Chris picked up after the second ring. When I told him that I needed someone to clean our dryer vent and what had happened, he said he could come out either between 5:00 and 6:00 pm that evening or the next day. It was already mid-afternoon when I called, so I was surprised to hear him say he could still come out same-day, but I decided to have him do that since I was free and also still a little shaky following what happened with the vent either smoking or steaming. His pricing was incredibly reasonable and fair and so far, in the couple of weeks since he was here, we've had no issues with the dryer. One of the best home service experiences we've ever had! Our HOA hired a roofing company to replace our shake roof a year ago and the demo made a horrible mess that the roofers refused to clean up. In the back of my mind, I've been stressing that the sawdust and debris could be creating a fire hazard. The day of, whoever we were confirming with wasn't sure what the job was, which should have been our first clue things were going downhill. We have a baby and we have to plan everything around naps, so i said we we were free from 10-12. They said they would be here at 12 and the cleaning would take 25 min which was pushing it for us with a 12:30 nap. 12 came and nobody arrived. I texted asking if they were coming, nothing. I reached out to communicate that they were so late, we can't do it anymore, and asked for availability for next week. Nothing. Half an hour passes and I finally get the baby down for a nap and the DOORBELL RINGS. We have a huge sign on the door that says "do not ring the doorbell -baby is sleeping." I'm absolutely livid, the baby is crying, the dog is barking, and the guy on the porch has the audacity to say he hit traffic and still wants me to let him do the job. Incredulous. Terrible communication, terrible responsiveness, and I have no idea how the work would have been, but after that experience, I'm absolutely not going to give them another chance at rescheduling. These guys are experienced professionals providing high quality service and materials at an incredible value! I hired Chris' team to remove old, partially water damaged blown cellulose insulation from my attic (800 square feet), clean, air seal, spray foam, apply sanitizer, replace/repair mesh at vents, and apply new R38 blown fiberglass insulation, all for a great price of $2000. The next best bid I had for exactly the same service from another company was $3500. The "other guys" said they would need to spread the work over 2 days and their contract said there was a 20% fee for cancellation. That was a red flag to me. I called Chris on Thursday afternoon, right before Labor Day weekend, and he quickly quoted me a price over the phone based on the square footage and services requested (although he also offered to come out in person for an free estimate). Moreover, he told me the crew could be out Saturday morning, 1.5 days later, over the long weekend! This was an incredible help for me since I am a single working person and it is very difficult for me to schedule work during the work week, without needing to take time off. The crew got right to work, finished in a little over 5 hours, and left the house spotless (cleaner than they found it), without a single bit of insulation anywhere in the house. Chris and his team did an excellent job. They were the most professional of all the other vendors who came to provide an estimate. Most vendors tried to scare us and expand the scope of the work. Chris quoted exactly what was required : clean Rodent droppings, sanitizing, closing any gaps, and fix dryer vent in the attic. Their quote was little less than other large vendors who came with printed quotes and wore corporate T-shirts. None of the other estimators saw the dryer vent issue but Chris did. All members were in the hazmat suite and all of them worked the whole day, into late evening. The insulation applied was the same as they had mentioned. After the job, there were still sounds coming from the attic. Chris and his men came twice to check but didn't find any trace of any rodent activity. So they helped to set up multiple Blink cameras in the attic. After putting in 7 cameras, they were able to find a hole made by squirrels. Chris came back with 2 men and plugged the hidden hole, for which they had to cut open part of the roof structure as it was not accessible.
