I picked Breathable after doing a lot of research online. The very first time I called, the owner Nir answered my questions in great technical depth and took the time to understand the situation with my house and the level of protection I wanted against smoke and allergies. I subsequently had multiple back-and-forths on email and phone calls with Nir to answer my questions and get me to a point I was comfortable proceeding with the work. During the entire time Nir was highly responsive and taught me how best to measure air quality improvements (as one example of his helpfulness and desire to drive down to the best solution). A two person Breathable team showed up to do the work. Nir had created an expectation it would take many hours. However, I didn't realize the extent to which the team would take the HVAC fan assemblies apart and do an extremely detailed clean of every pipe and component. They also upgraded my two HVAC systems to use the 5" thickness filters so I could upgrade to MERV 16 standard filter without overloading the fans (better energy savings, more convenient since the 5" filter needs replacement just once a year) -- please see photos. In addition they sealed all my vents to prevent outside air from creeping in (photo), and cleaned all my exhaust fan ducts and dryer vent. All of this meant that the team worked non-stop (except a lunch break) from 11:30am to 9pm. I do have a large house with two separate HVAC systems, but still that's a lot of hard work with extreme attention to detail. One of the workers was the acting manager of the job. He patiently answered my questions, educated me about the HVAC systems and explained proper maintenance (I am a new home owner without prior experience). This consumed considerable time from his work schedule, but I was very impressed by his technical knowledge and willingness to help, and it was very beneficial to me. Other things that really impressed me about their work: 1. I had my hardwood floors re-finished recently and I was worried that contractor work, such as the various machines that the Breathable team would bring in to the house, could potentially scratch the floors. However, the team rolled out plastic sheeting throughout the house for them to walk over and place the machines. They also applied the plastic sheeting to protect various rooms from the dust generated by the machines cleaning the ducts. The house was left quite clean and there was no wear on my floors. 2. The team took care to sanitize their equipment before bringing into my house to avoid cross-contamination (photo). Initially, the work estimate seemed somewhat costly. However, by the time the work was finished and I saw the extensive improvements and cleaning, I think it was excellent value for money, and excellent peace of mind (which is hard to put in terms of money). Great service from start to finish! I needed the crawl space cleaned out because of previous rodent activity. I also needed all the vents in the crawl space replaced, which were damaged and torn up due to the activity. I called many HVAC companies to see who can do both jobs in one go. Breathable was one of the few companies who did, and the only one I found to clearly explain the scope of work and the services they offer on their website. After leaving messages for several companies, Nir was the only one to promptly return my call. He was very thorough and patient in answering my many questions. I was able to get an appointment within several days. Though necessary, I was dreading this work being done in my house and the mess and debris I'd have to deal with. But to my surprise and relief when Noe and his team arrived they made me feel at ease. They were very respectful of my home and immediately set about covering the floors and even took off their shoes (without being asked). Noe asked me where the job was and he thoroughly and patiently explained the process. The teamwork Noe and his fellow crew did was excellent and made the process seamless and quick. Bags of debris had to be brought up through the crawl space and taken out through my front door. This was done extremely well and I felt completely at ease seeing that all the trash was well contained in the bags. The job was completed faster than Nir had initially told me. Prior to completion of the work, I had asked Nir about deep cleaning the air ducts and what it entailed (again, my anxiety about needing access to all the air ducts, etc.). I ended up getting the service of cleaning the air ducts with the HEPA vacuum and everything it entailed. Again, Noe and his team did not disappoint! They went about the it job efficiently and professionally and were completed in no time. It's important to add that they didn't have the HEPA vaccum with them, as I had initially not asked for that service. But one of the workers was able to briefly leave the job site and go pick one up. As for the cost of the service it was much better than other quotes I had gotten, especially as they were also able to clean out the crawl space. I would definitely use Breathable again. Okay, let's dive right into it. I took the plunge and decided to go green by getting a heat pump. We had this really old furnace, and to be honest, during the summer we were just melting, so an AC was on the cards. But then, we learned about heat pumps, and with all the rebates we could get, it just made sense. Enter Breathable. We found them while skimming through a rebate provider's directory, not realizing we're previous clients from back when they were called Clear Thumb (nice move by the way. The previous name made no sense ). Nir, the guy who gave us the quote, was super clear about everything. I liked what he had to say, and the price was right, so we thought, why not? Now, to get the ball rolling, Nir put me in touch with a couple of electricians to check if we needed a new sub-panel. As it turned out, we did and paid about $1,800 for it. But here's the thing: even with that extra cost, Breathable's quote was still pretty fair. We decided to shell out a bit more for the "bouncer" and fresh air intake upgrades - another $2,000. That might sound like a lot, but trust me, it's worth it. Everyone in our house deals with allergies and asthma, and central air purification was a no-brainer. The work took a day and a half with a team of 4 techs. They were all great guys, very professional. Look, I'm no HVAC expert, but the folks from BayRen and a HERS rater who came to inspect were pretty wowed by the job. The city inspector was also impressed. Overall, it was smooth sailing from start to finish. The new setup? Quieter than my old furnace, and the heat pump takes up way less space than what was offered by other contractors. And those other guys wanted the same price, if not more. I mean, one vendor wanted almost $3,000 more for a similar setup but no air purification! Long story short, I'm thrilled with my new HVAC system and the air quality upgrades. It feels good to be doing something more environmentally friendly, and Breathable was the right choice for the job. If you're in the market for something similar, definitely check them out. Very Satisfied!! Since two weeks, my kid started coughing whenever the heater turned on. Her coughing got so worse that one night she woke up coughing and it ended only after she threw up. That's it!! I had this air-duct cleaning in the back of my mind, its time I did something about it. We have a dual zone heating/cooling in our home. I called Coit first as its the most popular. Their quote was $577!! Yikes!! I call even works (the one listing above Breathable) and left a voice mail. That was 3 days ago. No reply yet. Then I called Breathable, a friendly voice said that the $89 is for each furnace. That's fine. I was desperate. I said lets do it on Sunday. Saturday, the same lady called with a reminder. Sunday morning around 11, the Breathable cleaner called and said they can come in early since there was a cancellation. Even better! (actually, he was telling me they refused to clean the air ducts for the previous customer because the furnace was so dirty that the ducts would become dirty after they left). They came at the right time, wore booties all the time, explained the process. The guy put his hand over the fan and got some dirt out. He said that eventually, we would need to clean the furnace as the ducts would get dirty again. he quoted some numbers. I said I'll think about it. There was no pressure or sales pitch but just recommendations. They worked on all the vents and after they left, the vents looked brand new! I never knew they looked so beautiful in the first place!! LOL We moved in the house 3 yrs ago and I've looked in those vents and remember them being brown in color and thought that was their natural color. I never knew they were light maroon colored!! LOL It was like the cough-switch was turned off. My kid sleeps better, she has not coughed since the cleaning. Her mucus is subsiding and she's getting much better. First time air duct cleaning, so I didn't know what it took to get the job done. Initially bought a groupon and almost had a disaster (like others) but thanks to the rescheduling nonsense the service company put me through, during the process I discovered that they were playing games with their company name (Sold as P to groupon, when indeed was DP) - probably because of the poor yelp reviews. Managed to get a refund and went the route of finding a service company the proper way. So glad I did this! Researched a whole bunch, shortlisted 3 companies and ended up going with Indoor Ideals. Their quote was very competitive and during this time of the year, most folks are booked 3-4 weeks out, but luckily there was a cancellation so Alex was able to schedule me within a few days. Based on the good reviews, I was hopeful that Indoor Ideals would do a good job, and they didn't disappoint! On appointment day, as promised, Alex gave me a heads up call about an hour before arriving and arrived on time. We are at a rental property and Alex took a look at the ducts and diagnosed it as 'pretty bad'. No surprise as the owners said they had never cleaned the air duct before! Yikes! Alex and Diego busily worked non-stop for about 3 hours to finish the job. They were friendly, polite, professional and did a very thorough job. My husband was also very pleased with their work and the way they went about it. Just really good guys with solid work ethic and professionalism. Alex even gave me some suggestions on getting indoor plants for improved air quality and also shared some other services that could be considered if/when we build or own our own property. After the cleaning, Alex remount all the vent covers for us with his new screws given the original ones were too old. I didn't know what aftermath to expect after an air duct cleaning service but all I had to do was some very light vacuuming around a few vents. Very satisfied! Highly recommend! read more

I recently contracted Indoor Ideals to perform an air duct cleaning service at my house. They did a great job at what I think was a really fair price ($99). I didn't know a lot about air duct cleaning up until last year when I decided to get them done by one of those firms that kept sending me coupons through Valpack. The price was $45 for what they called Whole house negative pressure air duct cleaning". The price sounded right since I knew nothing about the process, and I got what I deserved for not checking them out on yelp. I ended up paying $1600 dollars for a 1 hour job !!! I didn't like how the price went high by such a degree, but I'm a very busy person so I just let this one go. About a month ago, my furnace died on me so I had to get a new heater, and guess what... the furnace guy told me that my ducts really need to be cleaned. I couldn't believe at first since I paid so much $$$ last year, so I asked him to show me what it means. It was very obvious.. the ducts were filthy, probably a build up of 40 year (this is an old house). I asked him if he know anyone that can do that kind of job and he recommended Alex. Apparently they have been doing a lot of work together, and I do know my furnace guy for many years so I decided to contract Indoor Ideals for the job. Alex made sure to explain me how the job is going to get done and left the house very clean. My husband scheduled them to come out because we got a coupon in the mail for $55 duct cleaning. The first thing that was a bit odd was that they called several times the day before they were scheduled to come out to try to reschedule us for morning time, but I declined. There were three men who came out, and one man did all the talking. I really couldn't tell you because I couldn't understand him. He tried to tell me that our system needed a whole system cleaning and that it would cost $500, He said if we didn't do it our children would get asthma, and the system would break eventually. He then proceeded to tell me that we need to have a UV light installed to kill off all the germs, viruses, and bacteria. He said this is what all the hospitals, airports, and malls have to keep their air clean. He said it would be another $1100 for this service. I told him we just wanted to do the duct cleaning for now. He proceeded to badger me about the services he was trying to sell me for another 5 minutes or so until they left. They were here for less than 30 minutes and only cleaned the main vent. They went into my bedroom without my permission, and I don't even know what they did in there. They left without telling me that they were done, or that they were leaving, and they left my garage door open. I am very unhappy with the service, and the lack of professionalism that was provided to me. DO NOT USE Breathable !!! read more

We had an urgent need to replace two old gas furnaces in a two unit building.  The team at Breathable, led by Diego, provided excellent service and results.   The particulars of the job are important to highlight as I feel they demonstrate the professionalism of the team: Our furnaces stopped working the week before Christmas and our commercial tenant was only able to provide a 3 day window the week between Christmas and New Year to enter the building.  The Breathable team outlined a plan and provided the most competitive pricing that I received. Upon removing the original furnaces, Diego discovered that one of the furnaces was improperly vented, a fire hazard that had been overlooked during inspections.  Remedying this issue required additional duct work and the team stayed several hours later than originally planned to keep the installation on track. When wrapping up the installation, Diego also discovered wiring issue (again from prior installation) that would have prevented us from getting the full efficiency of our unit.  Again, he stayed late to make sure that everything was done properly. All of the additional work was done without any deviation from the original install pricing.   Diego and team were extremely professional, efficient, and kind.  They left the work area impeccably clean and we are are very happy with the work and outcome.  Five star service!! read more

My son found Breathable on Yelp. The reviews are great, so I gave them a call. Worked with Nir, the owner and general manager. He is quick to answer the phone and takes his time explaining the whole process. We needed the cleaning within a few days and they arrived ready to go. I had a Type-X Reset (which is a Type B reset + Breathable Upgrade). Took them 4 hours, 2 story house, 13 ducts/vents. The team consisted of 3, and mid way, 2 more should up to help. They thoroughly cleaned our air ducts, vent covers and furnace. They removed the 13 vent covers and took them outside to hand brush clean and rinse with water. They opened the furnace, removed the heavy furnace fan and cleaned it outside as well. Impressive! They also upgraded the filtration system. We now have a very high quality system that has near HEPA performance. You can find a video on You Tube explaining this system and filter. Our ducts now are super clean and will not get as dirty as before. The team was hard working and very professional. They took their shoes off to protect the floors and did not waste any time getting to work. All my questions were thoroughly answered. Previous duct cleaners are no comparison. I was very fortunate that Breathable had an appointment available today, because at least one of our ducts was leaking air into our garage, and I really wanted to get it fixed ASAP. The entire experience was excellent. I emailed photos of the issue, and was clearly told the initial costs. I was texted in plenty of time to let me know when the team would be arriving. The team lead, whose name I think was Alex, diagnosed the issue as one particular set of connected ducts that had worn out over many years and cracked. The ducts were at least seventeen years old, and probably older, so we were happy to have the team replace them. The owner of the company let me know the cost to replace the ducts, and said they could do the repairs today, which was great. The team had all of the parts they needed, and worked well together to complete the work quickly. I also requested dryer vent cleaning as an add-on, and they took care of that as well. They took all of the old duct materials with them, and vacuumed the entire work area, leaving it as clean as - or maybe cleaner than - they found it. The entire team was considerate and professional. I will definitely be calling Breathable again when we need more duct work; we're very happy with the results! read more

We bought an older home in Livermore that needed some real TLC, and had Breathable Inc. out for air duct cleaning on a house with 16 vents and 2 furnaces. The difference has been huge. Filipe, who was soft-spoken, sweet, and clearly passionate about his work, and his teammate worked from 8am to 4pm, reconnecting disconnected ducts, fixing broken ones, sealing every vent, washing each one individually, and adding filters above each vent before putting them back on so everything could run proper cycles. They also redid the insulation in our garage, taped down plastic tarps throughout the house to keep everything clean while they worked, and ran an industrial HEPA system through the whole house, showing us photos from underneath the house so we could see exactly what they found and checking in with us before moving forward with any fixes. The results have been amazing, no more musty smell, our AC is working great now, and we're not worried about allergies anymore. You can really tell Filipe is good at what he does, he was completely transparent through the whole process, and it showed how much he cared about doing the job right.
