We've been having an ant problem for a couple of years. At first I tried to handle it with the usual products they were short term fixes so when the showed up this year I decided to get an expert help. We were able to schedule an appointment quickly, the technician, Mitch, did a thorough indoor and outdoor inspection. He found a few areas that he treated explaining that the areas had conditions that attracted them and he would follow up in two weeks, good thing he did cause few stragglers were trying to migrate upstairs. I think he solved our ant problem. What I also like is that there wasn't pressure to sign up for reoccurring plan. Last fall I started hearing noises in the walls. I called Eagle and their tech showed up on time, with a mask. Polite and personable. He climbed into the attic crawl space, fixed a hole under the roof eave with wire mesh, and set some rat traps. I was hesitant to set kill traps but nobody seemed to want to trap rats and humanely release them, and there may be practical and legal difficulties in doing so (e.g. the need to check the traps daily, and city ordinances about releasing). Thankfully, no rats were caught, and no evidence of rats inside the house was found. However, I kept hearing noises - some quite loud, and mostly during the day time, not at night when rats are supposedly more active. I began to suspect squirrels. After 5 visits and no solution to the sounds in the wall, the office offered a few additional courtesy visits to set traps around the perimeter of the house (outside), but I declined because I was beginning to suspect it was squirrels, not rats and didn't want to be involved in any killing, especially when it wasn't going to solve my problem. Eventually, I climbed up on my roof (I'm comfortable with heights - not recommended for most people, and many companies refuse to do this). On top of the roof, I found an old masonry chimney that was sealed off at the bottom. I had not known about this, but it was completely open at the top. Squirrels have no problems climbing down this - treating it like a hollowed out tree trunk. They can easily wedge their tiny claws into crevices in the masonry. First, I attached a go-Pro camera and began to record video footage - after reviewing ~8 hours and not seeing any intruders, I began to notice that I wasn't hearing any sounds in the walls. Warmer weather? Scared off by the camera on the wooden frame around the top of the chimney? It's been a week with no rodent sounds, so I have temporarily sealed the chimney with a double layer of 4 mil plastic cinched down by the wooden frame I built. I waited a week to do this to ensure no rodents would get trapped inside, which could either kill them or make them eat their way out of the walls. I've called a roofer to remove the top of the chimney and seal the roof (better for energy efficiency). Many pest removal companies employ highly visible activities such as putting out kill traps, which end up being lethal to other creatures just trying to survive, and may not even solve your problem. There are many non-lethal solutions and practices out there, and you need to research your problem carefully, or pay someone willing to do that research. I paid $500 to Eagle for a service. They get 3 stars because they did help me do some exclusion work and were generally professional. This review is meant to help you do your homework when it comes to rodents, choosing a company, and being clear on strategies and potential outcomes. Please choose a non-lethal strategy if possible. Poisoning rats for example, only ends up poisoning other animals, including pets. And it's probably a horrible death. My longest Yelp review ever...but a complex issue with moral layers. read more

I spoke with two people from Eagle Pest Eliminator's today (4.7.22). I would later learn that the first call they made to me was a '"glitch...'" a hallucination if you will- but more about that later. Eagle Pest Eliminators called me regarding a bird issue. The woman said she was calling because I "had a bird issue at my complex" and wanted to know when I could be available. Not sure where she got that I lived in a complex, but I opened my calendar nonetheless. I asked her to give me some times when her tech could come out. She asked me to give her some times. (Here we go...) I said, "I'm looking at my calendar. When can your person come out? I can make myself available." She again told me that I should give her times at which point I asked her to get some times and call me back. My cell showed that the call was 2min and 2 sec. She said she'd check and call back. She never called back, but that's not the worst of it. After more than 30 min, I called back. Guess what? The second lady was quite rude and outright hostile in my opinion. I called back and stated that I was checking in to see when a tech could come out. The woman told me that she checked and no one called me. I told her that someone called, mentioned my issue and mentioned the name of the company who gave them my info. I asked her how all of that info could be a glitch? She then told me that she'd checked and no one was claiming to have called me. I told her their number was on my phone. She told me something must be wrong with my phone. Well...I guess both me and my phone are hallucinating and inventing calls from oddly specific companies regarding oddly specific problems. Yes, that must be it. I told her she was very rude and unprofessional and that her behavior didn't make sense. After a while I called back, twice, to the very same number they first called me from. I also called them at the number on their website. They answered the phone but did not say 'hello.' They did this two times in a row. Shocking, I know. But the most shocking thing was yet to come. A little over an hour later, their tech showed up wanting to gain entrance to check on the very problem I was supposed to have hallucinated receiving a call about. I wonder how that happened. Both he and his truck are on camera. In any case, since they never called back to make an appointment, never answered their phone when I called back twice and were shockingly rude, it was a no go. This must be the year mini-ants rule the earth as we notice several colonies erupting to the surface near our driveway. But when we found several in our kitchen, we got alarmed. The little, black buggers were very aggressive and had found their way to our 2nd story kitchen. I found that Eagle answered my call with a real person (on the weekend) and scheduled me for a Monday visit. The tech. was very detailed in explaining the solution (perimeter spraying plus internal baits) and his fee was reasonable. We had a great experience with Eagle Pest. Called on a Friday morning because we had a Yellowjacket nest on the side of our house that was starting to swarm at our front door. They came out on Monday and took care of everything. I believe his name was Jon and he was so awesome! Super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I called Eagle at 9:30 this morning because I had a number of birds roosting on top of my house and crapping all over my fence and my decks. They responded immediately and a tech was at my house by 10:45 am. By 11:45 am they had diagnosed the problem ( pidgins roosting on my new air conditioning pipes) and places bird spikes in the area. I have not seen or heard a bird all day. These guys are great! If I could give the company 10 stars I would. I might add that my house is challenging as it is 3 stories. Best I can say is they are honest and I will use them again. I called several companies and others tried to sell me annual contracts with out ever seeing the problem. Eagle pest told me on the phone that the problem was probably moisture ants and replacing the wood would take care of the problem. I had them come out just in case and they verified the problem. This was a great experience! Nathan came out even earlier than anticipated (he called first to let me know he was available). I needed a bee hive removed from the house. I was quoted over the phone for around $200 because I had thought the bee hive was higher than it actually was. For some reason, I thought the hive was on the second floor when it actually was on the first. Nathan saw it was low and lowered the price to $100! He also did a very thorough inspection and informed me that we didn't have rodents. If I ever do have a problem with rodents or any other pest, I will definitely use Eagle. read more

They came for an inspection and told us we had a lot of rats so we signed up for the 30 day rodent program. I took every Friday off work so they can come check the traps they laid in the crawl space. Week after week, no rats. Maybe because the only put bait stations at the crawl space entrance and no where else. After they came 3 out of 4 weeks we decided to call it off as they did not get one single rat after stating we had an infestation. We asked for a discount on the $643 they wanted to charge because thy only came 3 times and didn't catch anything and not surprisingly they would never return our calls. Huge waste of money! there are better companies out there and I suggest using one of them. This place is a bit scammy. Eagle Pest Eliminators really deserves a five star rating. I called them after I fired Edge Pest Control, which had not caught anything in one month, and had communicated very poorly. A competent person answered the phone at Eagle Pest Eliminators!!!!! She immediately told me that I would not be able to cancel the service at any time, and that the same "exterminator" would be serving my house every time. These were my issues with Edge, that I was forced to sign a one year's contract and every week, different very young inexperienced employees showed up. Although the other company was unsuccessful in catching rats after a month, Eagle Pest Eliminators caught a rat on the first night by looking in my crawl space, finding the entry point and also looking above the furnace ducting and pipes. Eagle Pest Eliminators sent the same highly experienced person every week, who was extremely knowledgeable about the problem and solved it, rather than just tell me that I would have to wait. Both times, Nathan came out and did very thorough inspections of the crawl space, potential access points, etc. He is always on-time, friendly and professional. These folks know critters - in fact, they get together on the weekend just to tell stories and learn more about them. Matt is one of those guys and was fantastic in helping us chase down a rat that breached an interior wall. Matt was patient and methodical: he found the entrance point, sealed it, trapped for the rat, and got it. But Matt's extra value was when he spotted a bug he hadn't seen before. He took a picture, sent it to his boss, and followed up the next day. Turns out it was a damp wood termite that had gotten into some boards in our crawlspace. Without his curiosity, we could have had an infestation. This is the reason you want people who geek out on critters - and it's why you want this company because they clearly hire people who fit that profile and support them in that work. read more

Do not use this company! Our property management company suggested them when we heard rodents in our condo building last Fall. They came out, did an inspection and set traps. They also replaced/repaired the screens on our roof vents. So far so good...They did not secure the vents well enough and we started hearing rodents again. Eagle Pest was unresponsivev, so we had to pay yet another pest control company (Dominion, who did a great job) to come out and finish the job that Eagle Pest couldn't. Dominion took a video of the issues so that we could see what was going on with the screens that Eagle Pest installed. Dominion could have fixed the issue but on top of an inspection would have also had to charge us for the work (which is only fair). We did not want to pay 2 companies so we pursued EP to finish the job. Since Janaury of 2011 we've been asking Eagle Pest to finish adhering the screens to the roof so we will not have rodent issues again. They've been unresponsive and downright rude. I've called them, the property management company has called them, and we don't get a response. Finally I got a hold of the secretary and told her I would be filing a BBB complaint if we didn't get a response on when the job would be finished. I recieved an email that the owner apparantly came to the site and looked at the roof. No one from the property was notified to meet him and no one saw him. I filed a BBB complaint, and the response was that there was too much water on the roof to adhere the screens so they would have to wait. July and August were warmer and sunnier. I responded to the BBB complaint and said it has been warm and dry for long enough for them to come inspect. As of today, our property management company was notified via fax that the owner came out 2 weeks ago and stapled the screen to our roof! We had asked for someone to be onsite when they were there, no one was notified. We have no pictures. We have no confirmation that they contacted the roofing company about the warranty etc... I'm not sure how a company providing a service thinks they can provide sub par service and they'll be successful?! We won't be using them ever again and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more
