We have rat issues in the crawl space. Many reasons why this company got a 1 star: 1) the person over the phone quoted us for a survey and traps and said they would quote us for any additional patchwork that needed to be plugged. Upon arrival of technician, they discovered where the rats were coming from, but said he wont patch up the holes. Technician said we would have to hire another company for patchwork. So now we have to hire another company to patch the holes 2) a complete survey was not done. Technician didnt even go up stairs or in the attic. 3) the texts received from the company was offering a $130 off coupon if we hired them. Obviously some communication issues with the person texting and whom I called, because I already hired them. 4) so paid $500 for laying down a few traps. Not worth it. Would not recommend to any of my neighbors. read more

I contacted Guard Pest Control two weeks ago about a ground nest of Yellow Jackets that had established itself in front of our home near our front door. They were able to book an appointment for me only two days later for first thing in the morning. Communication prior to their arrival was great and I received a text notification that they were about 20 minutes away. Christian arrived on time and we spoke briefly about the issue. He surveyed the rest of the yard and house to see if there were any other nests or issues and found none. He quickly got to work spraying the ground nest and told me he felt pretty confident they'd be gone by the next day, but it could take a week. I was skeptical of the one day claim, but hopeful. For the remainder of the day, the Yellow Jackets continued to come around, but they seemed quite confused. The next day came and.....NO YELLOW JACKETS. Not one. LOL. Christian was right! Besides being right, Christian was very friendly and answered all my questions and concerns. As for the price for this service, it was $300. That seemed a little high to me, but honestly, I really don't know what the going rate is as I haven't had to hire an exterminator before and I just wanted those pests gone and the Yelp reviews were very positive. I contacted Guard Pest Control because we appeared to have a Yellowjacket nest in our front yard. I'm allergic to Yellowjackets and we've had nests of them in the past. So getting rid of the Yellowjackes was a priority. Guard said it could come out the next day! Guard 's tech Christian arrived and immediately determined that instead of Yellowjackets, it was actually two different types of bees that had hives in the shrub. I'm not allergic to bees and Guard can't legally exterminate pollinating bees, so we're leaving the bees alone. To my relief, Christian said since I didn't have any other problem areas that I needed help with that I wouldn't be charged for the visit! I called Guard's office and confirmed this---and thanked them. I'm so impressed with this company. Everyone I've talked to there has been extremely pleasant and helpful. Really fast turnaround between a request for service to completion - great customer service and follow through. The tech that came out to get rid of the bees was knowledgeable and helpful. They sprayed one time and my yellow jacket problem was gone the next day. A little expensive for a 20 min visit but my problem is gone; so, You get what you pay for. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the service. I was asking for the service (rodent control) as an estate with the knowledge of a lot of rat activity in the crawlspace and recent sounds in the walls. While the technician was prompt, he only performed an exterior inspection of the crawlspace - didn't enter into the crawl space. He identified a number of potential entry points that needed attention and said they could only address the door issue into the space. I was shocked to see that he set rat traps right inside the doors and said why bother setting them further in when they'll go to the trap there (!?) Not surprising, no rodents were trapped for the week they were in place. I then proceeded to have the entire crawl space refurbished. The lack of effort on his part made me regret spending the $349 for the service. read more

for 200.00 the inspection was minimal. he did not go under the house, did not look in the house where I told him I had ants in the kitchen. I also told him I had seen some mouse activity but did not see any more in that one spot. turns out, mice do not go away on their own. I had more of a mouse problem than I realized. there are far more ants than I realized. I have to be cautious with how things are treated due to having dogs. I will call another pest control company and hope they are more reliable. read more

I had thumping sounds coming from inside my walls for a few days and needed an exterminator. I assumed that it was rats. I wanted to go small business and not corporate because I feel they care more about their customers. After researching pest control near me and reading their reviews, I decided to go with "Guard Pest Control". Amy from "Guard" took my call. She was extremely pleasant, helpful and courteous. She made me feel confident in making the choice to go through them. I hoped that I would receive the same customer service with the exterminator. They were able to schedule an appointment with me in 2 days.  Kevin, the exterminator, showed up on time. I asked if I could walk with him to educate myself on signs to look for.I am impressed at his knowledge and honesty of my situation. He gave my family and I the same professional and friendly customer service as Amy. There were no signs of rats in my home, in fact no evidence of any pest entering the home was present. He gave me ideas on what to do when I hear the noise, such as checking the exterior of the home and keeping a log.  The next day when I returned from work I heard the thumping noise. I immediately went outside to observe my roof. On the very top of my roof was a crow pecking at what looks like a spray of tree pollen/seeds. I own a sweet gum tree on that side of the home and believe the seeds were blown up there. I live in a windy area. Not only that, but my roof needs replacement, and remembered the zinc strip was loose. I believe that because it's a thin strip of metallic like paper, the sparkling reflection of the sun on it was attracting the birds to my roof.  Kevin did mention that sounds can simply be the echo of birds on the roof.  If I ever have a pest problem or question again, Guard Pest Control will always be my choice. The cost for time, supplies, and maintenance plan was a good deal. Because he didn't find anything, he cut the cost for me. If the noises continued being a mystery, he offered to return to the property and set up traps for a small fee and continue maintenance. I feel that the bargain was a fair deal and balanced to the quote I received from Amy.  If you want a good priced exterminator with experience and excellent customer service, Guard Pest Control should be your choice! read more

Very prompt and professional, did everything and more than I expected. The only thing I didn't have them do was build a crawl space cover, they wanted $400. I would of let them for half of that. He was coming back anyway for a follow up inspection so there shouldn't be travel time, materials $50 so it would be $350 labor for an hour or less. I would still recommend them !!!! read more

If I remember right I found Guard Pest Control on Home Adviser, not positive about that though. Wherever I found them I'm lucky I did. About two years ago I had a problem with carpenter ants. Kevin came to my home and got rid of the nasty little buggers. He was prompt, friendly and went beyond what I hired him to do: he cut back shrubbery that I couldn't reach that was hanging too close to my home so that rodents couldn't jump to my eaves and possibly get in my house. I just got off the phone with these people. The first thing I ask is if they service Sultan, WA. She politely said no. We live on the border of Sultan & Monroe. Their website plainly states "We happily serve . . . All of Snohomish County, the Eastside, and North Seattle including . . ." and there is a list of cities which plainly contains Sultan. The map on their service area page sure looks like they service well beyond Sultan. Almost to Gold Bar. "She also stated that they don't do bats, and their technician wouldn't crawl around the attic, just place traps at the opening." I CAN DO THAT! Working with customer service to get a new account set up was simple. Once set up, you have access to your customer portal which allows you to see all of the service reports (past and present). The weekly service reports were always on time and the technician made sure to detail everything about the visit and is very knowledgeable. Unfortunately I have to leave this negative review. I paid to have my house sprayed for ants in March, right before coronavirus hit and everything was shut down. They promised to come out and respray after the first application if the ants come back but I didn't feel comfortable having someone in my house during the shutdown. The ants are back in full force and they're saying they want to charge me full price again to come out because it's past 60 days. Not right. read more

We had two yellowjacket nests in the walls of two different patio areas. One must have been quite large because it was very busy and prevented us from using our grill (not cool, especially during the summer!). I requested a quote and got a straightforward response including the price. (I have never used a pest control service before so I can't really judge Guard's prices.) Our guy, Shawn, showed up a few minutes early (nice!. I was a little surprised that he was dressed in jeans and a nice button-down shirt. I guess I was expecting a beekeeper suit with heavy rubber gloves or something. Shawn was very nice, personable, and well-spoken. He explained how their treatment works and took a quick look at the two sites. Then he went out to his truck to brew up the chemical, which is used sparingly and poses no danger to pets/wildlife once it has dried. Shawn came back with his equipment and gave the entry point for each nest a quick squirt. He explained that the chemical is spread throughout the nest when the drones return and walk through the treated entryway. He said we could expect results in 2-3 days. In reality, the traffic in and out of the nest was visibly reduced after just a few hours. The next day, I had to watch for a minute or so before I saw any activity. On the second day, activity had ceased entirely. So, in case it's not clear, five stars and two thumbs up for Shawn and Guard Pest Control. - Easy quote and scheduling process - On-time, friendly, competent service - Safe, effective treatment with minimal, focused application of chemicals We will absolutely use Guard again for any pest problem we can't handle ourselves. read more

These folks demonstrated the best integrity and customer service I've experienced in a long time. They took a look at our home and gave us their opinion that there were probably issues with rodents but that it was hard to see the extent or to do the complete job they hold themselves to. So they didn't charge us anything for their time, but instead, we agree that we'd get things cleaned up and invite them back another time in the near future.
