Been here several times. They have a good variety of cut rolls and high quality nigiri. Definitely one of the better spots in Whittier, and great go to spot if you're in the area. We typically order a mix of nigiri, appetizers and a couple of rolls. I like the tuna tataki, Alex special, and the toro choices. The gyozas are fried to order so it's crispy with a soft wrapper and not frozen; usually a good sign for me that they put care into the food. read more

I'm actually surprised how much I disliked this place. I used to come when it was sushi Iwa - when it was good and towards the end of Iwa's career when it went real bad. I was hopeful it was a good choice but if I'm being honest the food was just super meh. The wait staff was great. They were attentive and friendly - no complaints there. We were at the sushi bar and there were two chefs. It was clear one was the guy in charge and the other was still learning. And boy could we taste the difference. All the rolls, and simpler sushi was prepared by the second chef and wasn't very good. The spicy tuna was sooooo spicy that it over powered everything else in the roll. The fish was cut unevenly and even the roll was sliced in different sized pieces. The few orders made by the head chef were markedly better but had a really small portion of rice for the size of the slices of fish. There were a few good bites but the step-daughter and I literally just looked at each other and shrugged. She said "it's ok I guess" Normally that would earn a 3 star review. What pushed it to 2 stars was when we got the bill it was quite overpriced. They charged more than places in little Tokyo! Sorry y'all I won't be back, but looking at the other reviews, I hope those of you who like it here continue to! read more

Went in yesterday, party of 4. We were seated quickly. However, we were also forgotten in the process. 3-4 other parties came in, sat down and were given drinks before we were once again acknowledged. A young server walked up to us and asked if we had seated ourselves, she was really nice about it but we went on to let her know who seated us. She brought us drinks then another server came to us, about 10-15 minutes later, mind you, people after us were already eating and we had probably been in the restaurant over 30 minutes with only water. Long story short, we were checked on once during our meal, just once. Sushi was decent, nothing that we would ever come back for as it all consisted of spicy tuna. There was no real, fresh fish topping the sushi,it was more of a store bought type. I had really high hopes with the 4.7 rating and the convenience of a less than 2 mile drive from my home. We hoped the Sushi would save the terrible service, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I do have to say, there was a young server there, who was really nice and apologetic towards our table as she noticed that we were not being tended to. Wish I could remember her name. E sushi was a happy accident. After a afternoon of hiking Hellman's I worked up quit and appetite. After being warmly welcomed we were told any seat would be fine, we choose the bar. The menu was pretty self explanatory, they had their own specialty rolls, but what stood out was the willingness from the sushi chefs to make any roll that my heart desired. Our waiter was over the top nice and extremely helpful. A must try is their spicy garlic edamame. It's a big serving that's served warm, not too spicy for the ones who aren't a fan of spice, it's more of a peppery taste. Throughout the entirety of our meal we were constantly checked on and give great suggestions. We decided on the meli roll and Thomas roll. Both were delicious and the fish was fresh. Both rolls were large and defiantly enough to share with a loved one. All in all I can't wait to visit the fine people of E sushi again! read more

Decided to try this sushi restaurant based on yelp high ratings, it didn't disappoint at all. This place was packed on a Friday evening, we moved to sushi bar seatings from a regular table because we wanted to do Omakase. For $79.99 per person, we got 12 plates of nigiri sushi, the price was actually pretty decent. I liked their sake menu cause the prices were very good, we tried three kinds of 300ml cold sake, they were so yummy. For Omakase we had monkfish liver, scallop, live shrimps, blue fin, toro, yellowtail, albacore, uni, two kinds of white fish, salmon roe, kobe beef and fried shrimp heads. The raw was fresh and cuts were perfect that we enjoyed it so much. The service was top notch to my surprise, everybody was extremely friendly and pleasant, I can see why there are many regulars at the sushi bar, they sure know how to get return customers. This is a good find in this neighborhood, we will definitely come back from time to time. read more

I wish I could give a better review because the food really isn't bad. My lack of enthusiasm for this place is for presentation of the food and lack of coordination by the wait staff. I understand we are on the downhill side of a pandemic, but serving absolutely everything, including water, on styrofoam seems a little excessive, don't you think? My husband and I started our date night here and were disappointed when we realized we'd be paying sit-down restaurant prices, only to be served on take-out containers and bowls. The rolls are on the pricey side and, in my opinion, presentation is key. Serving them on take-out containers cut in half is a big NO for me. The picture attached shows our table in all its glory.
