This is my getaway. The food is fresh and delicious. Small location with a couple tables inside. Restrooms available and quick service.

Gyoza
Monica R.

Stopped by here for lunch on a friday afternoon and it was so busy. The workers are hustling and the food is coming out quickly, but it is pretty hot inside. We ended up bringing our food home because it was too stuffy to eat there. The gyoza were perfectly crispy. The bowls were loaded with chicken and beef. The chicken is most and the beef was tender. The employees are all nice and attentive.

Teri chicken and beef plate

I was leaving work late and I was starving. Even though they were closing in 20 minutes they took my phone order and the staff were all great. The plate was massive and I was super impressed!! I will be back!

Wow! What an amazing teriyaki experience. This place is delicious. The flavor and quality of the chicken and beef are delectable. You know teriyaki is good, when the chicken has perfect char without being dry, and the beef is tender with a lustrous caramelized finish. They were both sweet, full of flavor, and topped with sesame seeds and green onion. I will efinitely will be returning to try a new dish. Also, Hands down to their customer service. The cashier was very respectful to every person she can in contact with.

Got the Chicken Bento this time. This place is always good and I crave it every now and then. The portions are pretty big too. only finished about half the chicken!

Beef combo special

Great teriyaki spot! Never disappoints. I usually order their beef combo plate which comes with a salad, 2 California rolls, 2 shrimp tempura and a miso soup. This is big enough to share with 2 people in my opinion. I usually order this knowing I'll have the rest for dinner. The beef is perfectly seasoned and is not fatty at all. Rice is fluffy and never dry. Although, the miso soup is almost always salty so I only drink like 1/4 of the miso soup. I've never stepped foot into their location since I always order via Uber Eats or door dash. However I will say, they never mess up my order and consistently follows my instructions provided in the app.

#7 chicken teriyaki salad w/ no teriyaki sauce w/ avocado at an additional cost.

First-time visitors to the restaurant. My wife and I were actually driving to ANB in La Puente when we suddenly noticed this location while passing through Whittier. We chose this location for lunch, and we have no regrets. The location is much smaller than the La Puente location; however, the food is just as good. The chicken was grilled to perfection, moist and flavorful. The beef was well done and was delicious. I had the teriyaki chicken salad minus the teriyaki, as I don't like any sauce on my food. My salad was crisp and fresh, the orange slices that accompanied my chicken plate were so juicy, and the cucumber slices were crunchy and fresh. Service was EXCELLENT as the young, female employee who took our order was very friendly and polite. The vibe here is relaxed, eat and go. This is a GREAT restaurant to visit if you are in Whittier and want a fresh, healthy, and delicious meal.

Delicious teriyaki and consistency great food!! This Japanese teriyaki spot is a sold go to when you're craving flavorful, satisfying food. The teriyaki is excellent, tender, perfectly cooked, and coated in a rich savory-sweet sauce that's not overpowering. The portions are generous and everything tastes fresh and well prepared. The menu has a great variety, whether you're in the mood for chicken, beef, or combo plates, and the sides pair perfectly with the main dishes. Service is friendly and efficient making it an easy choice for a quick lunch or casual dinner. Simple, delicious, and done right. If you're a fan of delicious teriyaki, this spot is definitely worth trying!!

Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box

The food is pretty good. I got the chicken bento box and it was a good amount of food for the price. I ended up having leftovers to take home. The customer service was good, the cashier was very polite and patient as I decided what I wanted to order. The restaurant is a small place, mostly for take out. Seating is available, but limited. While dining in, there was consistent customers going in and out. The food was served pretty quickly. The reason I removed a star was mostly because of the space, it was a bit warm in there. Also, although the food is good, it not necessarily the best ever. I also recommend they offer veggies as a substitute for the salad in the bento box.

Such a cute and fun find! we heard a lot about it from our friends and really enjoyed our experience. Definitely a little hidden gem in the corner of Parking lot! we got a teriyaki chicken plate and was impressed with a portion size and the price! The chicken was super tender and perfectly seasoned, and the rice was nice and fluffy. This place was pretty packed and there was pretty good flow in and out as a lot of people got their order to go. There is four tables to eat inside and the cashier super nice and helpful.

BLAND BLAND BLAND ! Where is the flavor? This place really messed up. One of my biggest things that gets me Sooo mad is when they 1. NO FREE REFILLS 2.STINGY ON THE CONDOMENTS AND CHARHE FOR EXTRA..... The first thing u noticed was you only get a tiny terrayaki sauce cup. I ORDERED A LARGE PLATE, expecting to have a good amount of sauce, I WAS WRONG ! HARDLY ANY SAUCE ! All I got was a little terrayaki cup..I was soooooo mad, THEY CHARGE EXTRA FOR MORE TERRAYAKI! TO me, that shows they are soo money hungry they cannot afford to give a few extra cups of terrayaki! Are you so desperate for a few cents you cannot provide an essential ingredient? Pathetic! Tou need to restructure your business model and find other ways to make money. Don't take it out on your customers ! Stop being so cheap. The cashier was also RUDE AS HELL! The positive is that the food was fresh, I did enjoy the quality but rhere was no sauce ! People, gonto waba grill, they are generous with their sauces and HAVE A DRIVE THRU !

Beef bento!

If you felt like teriyaki places have been lacking lately, look no further, this place is delicious. WHY IS THIS PLACE SO GOOD YOU ASK? They dont load more than half of your bowl with rice, they give you the protein youre paying for, not only that, their protein is juicy and delicious. Honestly, teriyaki chicken or beef may not be the most appealing and may seem simple but the way they do it, its just so good. I know teriyaki is probably a convenience food, wherever is the closest is where you would eat it but I honestly can say we drive past at least 3 or 4 teriyaki places to eat at this place because my hard earned money needs to go far. Highly, highly recommend trying this place!

So place has gone viral on IG. 1st off it's a small little cozy spot. Only 4 tables inside. We ordered the combo Teriyaki plate which came with chicken, beef, rice and salad. Avocado was $2.75 extra. Food was delicious. Teriyaki sauce wasn't overbearing and it didn't need any extra. They serve a lot. I shared the plate with my mom. Chicken & beef are nice tender. Rice was good and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The egg rolls weren't overly oily and it had the perfect crisp and the veggies inside were perfect. They don't offer any fountain drinks. Great customer service. Definitely will be back. You get enough bang for your buck. Come try them out

Before I start this review, I'm gonna go on a rant. Landlords, please LOOK AT YOURSELF IN A MIRROR…read more& USE BASIC REASONING, COMMON SENSE, & THINKING SKILLS. You have a consistent, good tenant who has been renting out a location for DECADES, bringing business to this area with a dedicated customer base that spans GENERATIONS, but you're deciding to raise the rent & drive them out? Do you know how evil you sound to the normal human being? Probably not lmao. I digress and this is a long overdue review that I'm only writing as Restaurant Amachi is closing after 47 years of business due to the greed of others. With this sudden notification, EVERYONE, from the community is showing up to support. People have memories here from they were a toddler, to when they themselves had kids. This family was nice enough to have us dine with them after our number got called and we missed it and it was THREE generations of family that had memories of dining at Amachi. So many people were waiting for 3+ hours to support Amachi and its owner, Grandma Kyoko, and all of the staff as their winding down to close. It's truly a hole in the wall, small business, mom and pop Japanese restaurant with an old school art deco flair you really don't see anymore. The framed portrait of Kyoko, paired with her walking around and greeting everyone, you can't help but to have a huge smile on your face. She's so sweet and kind. All of the staff is extremely friendly, kept apologizing for the wait, and were very personable. I can only think of one word seeing them do what they love and it's "family". For our dinner, we got the fried shumai, short ribs, tempura, sukiyaki (not many places have this anymore and it's hearty helping in a hot pan with udon noodles), tuna sashimi, and chicken teriyaki. It's simple, Japanese comfort food. Nostalgic. It's like being welcomed home. Delicious with fluffy, warm rice. Tempura was crispy and not too oily, veggies were fresh. Not too salty and the short ribs were tender. The flavor of the sauces were perfect and fried shumai was pretty addicting to eat. Nice crisp exterior, juicy meat inside, and you can get the crispiness of the veggies in the shumai as well. Good food, with even better company. There's plans for them to maybe open in Hacienda Heights so I am on my knees praying and begging and willing all my energy that this comes to fruition because I want Grandma Kyoko to keep on doing what she loves and for all the people who love her to keep supporting her.

You park on the street the ally or next block and find out the address is in an alleyway. This place has been a family run mamasan old style old fashioned old school traditional iconic Japanese 70s art deco. A menu that is probably as old as the place. Prices that are soo below market. The menu pix are wrong prices up a whole buck. Full dinners starting at 13.95. Portions follow the pricing but the food is nostsolgic. I'm 70 years old remember the old days...the original Tokyo Lobby off San Gabriel blvd. The small but mighty creator made famous Japanese BOAT Eisaku restaurant rip Buena park. This review turns out to be a trip down memory lane. This place has probably created quite a few memories over the years. I recommend this place Senior friendly date friendly menu is very kid friendly. Not recommending for special occassions but every time you have a yen for some good old fashioned terryaki and tenpura hit this place. I'd be a regular but live over an hour away in the South bay where the traditions we grew up on are no more... Harrys gone Daisuki noodles gone Aloha terriyaki gone Teri Hawaii with original shaved ice closed. Eating at this place stirred up some old memories. I recommend this place for its longevity old school charm friendly service and good old fashioned comfort food. Easy on the wallet.
