That's ridiculously expensive for literally nothing
    Tim E.

What I got there was $25.38 and it wasn't even a full meal. Was it award winning in any way... No! The mac & cheese was mediocre at best. The mash potatoes tasted better but the amount you pay for is so laughable. Again it isn't even awarded winning sides. I came here to get something soft for my mom and in the past I did get mash potatoes and she enjoyed it but it was expensive for what she got but after getting this Mac & cheese and seeing what was paid for it has finally gotten me to write a review on it. I know everything cost more but this is a total ripoff and I won't be coming back anytime soon. This is highway robbery for what you get.

Quack quack! That's right... Chicken Koop. Established in 2016, and we've been simply roasting the best ever since. simply the best.

The Chicken Koop located at 12824 Hadley St. in Whittier was officially closed by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The eatery was shut down on June 29, 2026, due to a vermin infestation.Closures of this nature typically remain in effect until the business eradicates the pest issue, passes a reinspection, and pays necessary health permit fees to be cleared for reopening

wow, this place went downhill fast. As someone who has been coming here for YEARS the quality of the food has gone down tremendously. This used to be my favorite food place, but seeing how corporate greed has become the new norm, I will not be returning. Why try to fix something that isn't broken, they removed the tacos, the bowls, and they increased prices by nearly 20%! Absolutely outrageous. Not to mention the atmosphere of the restaurant has become so gloomy. Saturday I came with my family and the service was great, I noticed that as soon as this Hispanic man (I'm assuming it was the manager or boss idk lol??) walked in their moods immediately changed. I understand being frustrated at a falling business, but for your employees to fear you is incredibly ridiculous. Do better chicken Koop! this is NOT okay. plus portions used to be great now they still leave me hungry . (The pic is old)

I've been here plenty of times I usually order the Hawaiian style plate, which is not on the menu, but I also have tried the Cuban and garlic plates, which are very tasty too. The restaurant is always packed and a bit nosey so I usually order it to go. Sometimes the plates are more packed than other times, It's a hit or miss. The potato and chicken taquitos are really good too. I used to get the chicken posole but it's just not the same lately. It's very bland now. But the chicken is always good and food is always tasty. Haven't had an issue with bad service here either.

so they are under new management and those new prices are overpriced now. for one small margarita for $14 that's with happy hour .. not even that it's not even real liquor my last time I go there no more chicken tacos they took off the menu as well. i was a regular here as well after today seen my receipt no more .... i want to give no stars but it made me give at least 1 to continue my review but I was very disappointed they deserve no stars really ..

This is one of my all time favorite eating spots! Whenever my work has trainings, we always try to get Chicken Koop because their food is always delicious. The 20 educators who were at the training got seconds and thirds they loved the food so much. The one thing I had never tried but did this time were the plantains- they were perfectly cooked and made my mouth water. Please try Chicken Koop out, you won't be disappointed! The service is always fantastic and when I go to the restaurant it is nice and clean and welcoming.

Great spot for some chicken! We came for a late dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food. They have an outdoor area if you prefer that option. Service was great. My husband ordered a margarita. We ordered the tacos cooked in different flavors. We loved the dark meat chicken plate. The cucumber was refreshing. The habanero sauce was spicy and tasty. The pita bread was a perfect pair with the chicken. The chicken was flavorful and not dry at all. We'll come back and check out their happy hour and lunch menu!

One of my taco Tuesday hot spot. On Tuesdays, tacos are $2.50 and it takes 2 for me to get full. Don't forget it's happy hour right now. The poutine we got was $14. Service was great, festive music, and a laid back atmosphere.

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

There is more outdoor seating on the covered patio than indoor seating. Both seating areas are nice. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. Overall, nice local joint for a peaceful weekend or vacation breakfast. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Will be back sometime.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.
