#14 Bootlegger Club and Pickle

The sandwiches at this location are always consistent. Made fast with fresh ingredients and soft rolls. Always greeted by a friendly employee as you enter the shop. The dining area is roomy and clean with plenty of tables to dine at. All in all a good experience when choosing this location.

Spicy East Coast # 7
Grant B.

I'm an East Coast transplant who's found himself in Southern CA. Descendant of Italian Immigrants that landed in Boston I appreciate a good Spuckie. And they can be hard to find. This review is not about the Jimmy Johns chain (although a huge fan!). This review is about the Jimmy Johns on Washington Blvd and specifically the #7 Spicy East Coast Italian. I've eaten a lot of sandwiches, and no matter the shop if there's an Italian one on the menu I can't help but give it a try. I had a #7 from Jimmy Johns a few years back and remember liking it. So about 6 mos ago I found myself in Sante Fe Springs for work. Hungry and with some time to kill I ordered the #7. I needed to do some work on my forklift and figured I had a few minutes but great day in the morning the jimmy johns truck came ripping up in 6 min flat. Driver was friendly, I couldn't believe the speed it arrived and so I started to tear into the paper of my Spuckie. The great thing about the #7 is the hot peppers. Every good Italian sandwich has the perfect amount of spicy hot peppers. And this JJ absolutely kills it. As you take your first bite you immediately taste the cold freshness of the salami and capicola (doubled on the #7), the perfect amount of lettuce and for a second you think you're in downtown Boston getting ready to walk into Fenway. The heat from the peppers starts to hit and just when it could get a little too spicy, the perfect amount of mayonnaise mellows it out. The gutted bread make for the perfect meat to bread ratio and the fresh juicy tomato finishes the sandwich out. I was impressed. I loved it in fact. I couldn't believe how good it was and thought it would never be replicated. But the following week there I was. So I ordered it again, this time two in fact for a friend. 6 min. BOOM. There's the driver with two sandwiches. I'm thinking there's no way it's going to be as good as last time. It's not possible. THE EXACT COMBINATION OF PERFECTNESS HAPPENS AGAIN. My friend can't believe. I'm in shock. Convinced that this sub maker on Washington Blvd was born in Milan, raised in downtown Boston under the tutelage of the cities greatest Spuckie makers of all time I start to make it a tradition. Weekly. Never once have I been let down. I've even tried to alter it (adding more hot peppers) HOW DARE I. This sandwich is perfect. The guy back there slicing the capicola with laser focus, squirting on mayo in the perfect amounts, placing each Peper in the perfect spot and ensuring the right balance of sweet and hot is a genius. Don't mess with work of art. Order the #7 and enjoy. God Bless America.

#12 Beach Club

My fiance is a fan of Jersey Mike's and I kept telling him I prefer Jimmy John's. I finally convinced him to give it a try and lets just say, we probably won't be going back to Jersey Mike's, I win!!! (As always) ordered the #12 Beach Club, added oil and vinegar and of course bacon. Amazing! The turkey was cold and fresh, bacon perfectly toasted, the service was great, very friendly employees. And I absolutely love the commercials "you work for Jimmy's John's?!!" Yes, I'm a nerd like that. Give the spot a chance, you won't regret all the freshness.

.., meet Whittier's Uptown hero!…read more My experience here was from 6/26/26 & it did not disappoint. Though I've been to Uptown Provisions twice before to support my friend Andrew M, as well as my other friend Andrew P. with Satori Coffee Project, this was my actual visit where I finally ate! Third times the charm! Tucked nicely into a Penn St. neighborhood, Uptown Provisions can easily be spotted by the loyal patrons waiting/dining outside. May the street parking gods be kind to you as they always provide me with a spot nearby. Knowing what I already wanted from doing my menu homework the night prior, I was practically drooling on my way in. Greeted by a great staff & friendly fellow patrons, I felt right at home. I went with the "Tom's Way" sandwich. Dedicated to one of their favorite customers, it's a crossover between an egg sandwich & a pastrami. It was perfect! Chef Aaron describes his sandos as the perfect West Coast sandwich, & that I can totally agree with. Tom's Way provided me with a robust sandwich blend that never knew I needed until now. Each component's flavor profile blended together nicely. I'm usually hit or miss with rye bread, but this rye hit the mark & held the ship together. The eggs were made with care & prepared in a way I've never tasted before, very delicious. Pastrami was tender, pickled onions provided the bitter tangy component while the broccoli slaw became the soothing blanket that nestled every flavor together. I absolutely loved my sandwich. They post a 20 minute wait time but I got mine in 15. Great things come to those who wait. They do not have a public bathroom so plan your visit accordingly. They have a few counter seats inside with plenty more outdoor seating in front with friendly locals chatting it up. Don't be shy with the napkins. Thank you Uptown Provisions for a great experience, I shall return!

First off, I came in for two pastrami sandwiches which they promptly came out to me and said they didn't have any more pastrami. The lady was nice and said she would upgrade me to a different type of pastrami that actually cost more. Well whatever this crap was it didn't taste like pastrami at all. I got one soft bread and one crispy bread and the crispy bread could've chipped a tooth on a normal mouth so thank God I've got implants. Both sandwiches were painfully boring and I wish I had something good to say. I'm not sure what was put in my wife's sandwich either when she got explosive diarrhea less than 10 minutes after eating her sandwich? The cold cuts tasted off and I wanna say that they were rotten because I've been burping it all day. Something positive? I guess the store looked nice on the inside? Anyhow, without a doubt I will not be back because if Subway can make a better sandwich than you guys you're in trouble. And subway sucks by the way. Claro's... nah More like stay "Clearo" of this place.

I didn't order any cuts of meat, but they looked to be reasonably priced and quality. They had some TVs going on playing the playoff games, with some families inside enjoying their sunday afternoon. Seems like a quaint location to just have a pleasant meal. Ordered take out, and got the Prime Rib Sandwich, Small Order of Steak Fries, and Mac Salad. The Prime RIb Sandwich offered an okay amount of meat, but it was fatty and flavorful. The Mild BBQ sauce paired fairly well with the sandwich. Star of the meal is the steak fries. Well seasoned, well cooked. The mac salad is mac salad: creamy. Would come back to try some of the other meals.

Today I took my sister to introduce her to the best steak sandwich around. She started eating before me and said it was not that good. I'm looking at her like she's crazy as I put mayo and mustard on my Sammy. I take the first bite and notice this is NOT the flavor that I had before. Added a little salt and pepper thinking that will help. NOPE! Each bite was tough and loaded with gristle or inedible fat or something that I couldn't separate with my teeth. I'm pulling pieces apart and having to eat around the tough meat. I took the sandwich up to the register and asked them if they changed the cut of meat they use. They said no, it's always been either rib eye or NY. Every single one of the many I'd had before were the same. This one was different. Even looked different, as if it had been run through a machine in an attempt to tenderize it. Didn't work! You could see through some parts kind of like the way a knitted scarf would look If you stretched it out and could see the holes in it. Anyway, the guy said, "You must have got a tough cut" or "bad cut". I can't remember exactly the wording. But then he just shrugged me off. No offer to fix the problem. I was hungry, I hadn't had breakfast, and it was obvious the guy didnt care, so I just went back to my table and ate the rest of the bread and fixings while gnawing off any edible meat from my horrible steak. $26 for a sandwich and fries. Not willing to spend that much and hope I get a good cut of meat. I'm done.

Upon walking into this establishment, i got this weird unfriendly vibe. Thats fine, let the food speak for itself. I ordered the eggplant ricotta w penne, chicken alfredo, and a beef dip to go. Pasta for both dishes are mushy and overcooked. The alfredo sauce was curdled and clumpy and needed salt. I did ask for extra sauce, but this wasnt the issue. Beef sandwich was dry, but hey thats what the dipping broth is for. Unfortunately the broth/au jus was SOUR. I thought it was spoiled and the taste almost made me vomit. Like imagine youre expecting beef broth flavor and instead you get some vinegary liquid taste. I called them and they said the chef JUST tasted it and said they added too much worchestershire sauce. Ok, ill give them the benefit of the doubt that their broth wasnt spoiled since i did taste the worchestershire. BUT why isnt the chef tasting as they cook to control their food quality? I paid for this nasty, sour broth i cant even finish bc it is so gross and taste fermented. Aside from the mushy pasta, the eggplant ricotta was ok. The marinara sauce they use is way too salty. Again, must be bc they dont taste what they cook. In total i spent around $50, and the food is disappointing enough that i wont be returning.
