I'll need to try their rolls and ramen because those are their specialties. I only got a bulgogi onigiri, which was ok. Not much filling and at almost $5 that's disappointing. But really, I should have gotten what they're known for. Nice staff though and it was ready quickly.

Delicious Food! This was my second time at Rodeo 72 and I even though there are a lot of options here I decided to come back to get some more Yubu because I liked them so much. While we waited for our food to be ready we grabbed a drink at the bar and found a table to listen to the live music. Today I ordered the 4 Kings and my friend did also. I got the Salmon, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, and the Shrimp Tempura with spicy crab. I loved all of them, my friend got similar ones but got the bulgogi instead of shrimp. She said it was slightly dry but still good. At $18 for 4 Yubu it was a good deal, I've seen higher prices elsewhere for these. They are very filling. Other options like the hand rolls and ramen looked good too.

TLDR: Quality down, lazy made handrolls - mushy seaweed and comes out all at the same time instead of one by one like it should for freshness. Quality has gone down here considerably and it seems like they just got lazy. As a hand roll bar by name, although I'm not expecting it to be the same quality as the more authentic Japanese counterparts, but you'd expect decent hand rolls. I've been here probably 7-8 times now since it's a nice light lunch alternative in the area. They used to do a decent job at sending out hand rolls one by one to maintain a decent freshness and crunch on the seaweed, but they have since just send everything all at once now in a mushy mess. I feel like this is the biggest difference between Korean Japanese restaurants vs authentic Japanese restaurants. The extra time spent (which they have done before) is what would've kept me as a return customer. Everything outside of the handrolls are not bad. You can't really mess up cut rolls and your run of the mill onigiris and udon based Korean Japanese dishes eg. kimchi/bgogi sushi Final point is the name handroll bar is misleading as it's now probably the worst part of the place.

This is located at Rodeo72 in Whittier. This rating is specific to this restaurant. Food is above average in taste and portion and freshness - 4 stars Service is slow and they still forgot an item. And price is higher than with other handroll bars (probably for location). One and done for me

Decent! The establishment is located in the middle of Rodeo 72. There are a few spots to sit, and the establishment looked really clean and well kept. Service was really welcoming and friendly. My friend and I ordered a Yubu set and Handroll set. Tried 2 of the Yubu Tuna 8/10 - Fresh and decently seasoned. Bulgogi 6/10 - Tasted like a bite sized bulgogi bowl with tofu skin and some cheese. It was OKAY. Tried 2 Hand Rolls Scallop 9/10 - It was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Tuna 8/10 - Fresh and decently seasoned. Overall - The rice was perfectly cooked. The seafood was exceptional and tasted really fresh. Biggest turnoff for me when it comes to raw seafood is the strong fishy "old" taste, which I definitely did not taste here! Recommend giving this place a try.

The food here was delicious! I got the chicken bowl, shrimp tempura, edamame and my cousin got a poke bowl which all together added up to about $49. The chicken bowl was really tasty, the chicken was flavorful and soft, the rice was good too, I really enjoyed the combination of everything, and it also includes some sort of potato salad + veggies. The shrimp tempura was so soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, it was to die for. I loved the edamame as well, it was salted on the outside of it so that gave it a nice flavor. I would definitely come back, the service was very quick. I also enjoyed the ambiance of this spot, the seating is comfortable, the chairs have a cushion padding.

First time coming to Rodeo 72. For a food hall handroll spot, it's really not bad. The service was great, the lady was super nice, the guy who made the sushi rolls was attentive and quickly greeted us once we sat down. The food came out quick and the pricing was pretty fair. We ordered a bunch of different rolls. I really liked the flavoring for the salmon carpaccio and the toro handroll. I wanted to try their ramen but it's scorching hot outside so I didn't. Parking is available right outside and there's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating here. Would def come back!

First time at Rodeo 72 and at this restaurant. Love the atmosphere and the service. Unfortunately the soup was barely lukewarm, the noodles were hot - chef, please take note that hot noodles will not heat-up the broth! As for the crispy rice, tuna, definitely needed more tuna, a thin layer of tuna is not good or worth the price for this!!!

The service was good ! Very kind and attentive. Small menu but very flavorful. Seating is very minimal as it is in a food court ! Very big portions for what you pay for.

Not sure if I came on a bad day, but it wasn't busy. So I assumed we would be served quickly we weren't!!!!! It was so bad the guy making the hand rolls was just standing there for over five minutes staring around. He looked miserable by the way!!!! The food wasn't any better it definitely lacked something... it was cute sitting on the bar I was hoping for more of an experience, more interaction with a sushi maker, but he just was not friendly.... Maybe it's more of a ramen place, I noticed people got their ramen quickly and enjoyed it..

I came to Rodeo 72 for dinner and decided to pick up some food here. This was my first time trying out this spot and I was very disappointed. I totally understand that it's the first opening week so things were very chaotic. The staff looked confused and by early evening they were already out of most food items. I started to place my order for some hand rolls and was told they were out of pretty much everything. I asked the counter person what Yubu was because I've never tried it and could not get a simple answer. I finally was told that they only had Salomon and Blue Crab, so I ordered two of each. I also wanted to try their Crispy Rice appetizer but they were out of Tuna, I asked if they could just use Salmon but the counter person didn't understand my simple request. Now let's talk about the hand rolls, they were below average and wrapped in plastic that separated the rice and fish from the seaweed wrap. You had to unravel the plastic, separate the seaweed wrap and roll the rice and fish together. The hand rolls were pretty bland, had no flavor, and way below average. In conclusion, this time the spot under exceeded my expectations but next time I'll eat at the counter instead of take out. Hopefully they have Yubu because I really want to try it and crispy rice appetizers. I think the Management Team needs to be more strategic in meeting the demand, which should have been anticipated. I'll give them another shot, let's hope they don't blow it again!!

Both of our drinks tasted great and were refreshing. The Iced Green Tea also had free refills, which was nice. Next we ordered some appetizers; the Spicy Garlic Edamame (our usual) and the King Crab Bites (to try something new). The Spicy Garlic Edamame was tasty as usual and had a nice kick. My husband wasn't a fan of the King Crab Bites because he thought they could've used more flavor and the texture was off. Lastly, we ordered our entrees; I tried something new and ordered the Pork Curry Katsu while my husband had the Pork Cutlet Ramen (mild spice level). The Pork Curry Katsu was delicious, complex, and full of flavor. The pork katsu was crispy and cooked to perfection, which complemented the curry and rice. My husband enjoyed his Pork Cutlet Ramen as well. His only issue was that it could've used a bit more salt. It is pricey here, but they do give generous entree portions. We were very full and had some leftovers to take home for later. We had a few different servers, and they were all polite and helpful. Our food was brought out quickly, which was also great. The only issue is that the service was a bit spotty and we weren't checked on very often to see if we needed anything (for example, I didn't get any refills). It wasn't too busy either, so I'm not sure why this was the case. The interior was clean and had a casual, slightly lively atmosphere. They have blend of modern and traditional Japanese decor, which gives off a comfy/modern dining experience. There's a decent amount of seating, and you have the option of sitting at the bar or a table. Both options put you in close proximity to other diners, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. They also had different mix of music genres playing in the background. Overall we had a decent experience and plan on stopping by again soon!

Yoshiharu Ramen is beyond delicious, and it's hard to put into words how flavorful the food is. The restaurant has tinted windows, possibly to reduce sunset glare, creating a unique atmosphere. However, the ambiance could be more welcoming, perhaps with some soft music and better organization to make it more inviting. We were first welcomed by the receptionist/waiter named Elena. Elena was very friendly and made my family and me feel comfortable. From the very beginning, she was attentive to our needs and checked on us throughout our dinner to see if we needed anything. There were five of us, and we had the following: * (2) Tonkotsu Miso * (2) Tonkotsu Shoyu * Spicy Miso LV1 * Edamame * Garlic Edamame * Deep Fried Gyoza * Crunch Fire Roll * Jalapeño Bomb Talking about each item individually would make this review endless. The broth for all our dishes was incredibly good. Each plate came with corn, seaweed, bamboo, and other ingredients cooked to perfection. Our favorite appetizer was the Jalapeño Bomb. This dish is to die for--so flavorful and full of great taste in every bite (though it can be a bit messy). Aside from our favorite appetizer, all the dishes were really good. For many restaurants, having a good host and cook is key to success. Elena's service should be recognized and rewarded! But the main person who brings everything together is Peter! We watched Peter in the kitchen, and he was in his zone. The reason I say Peter wraps everything up is because we returned three more times, and the food was consistently flavorful each time. That's a huge plus for us. We got to meet him last night as he finished cooking, checked us out, and cleaned the remaining tables of the night. Such a humble person! I hope Yoshiharu Ramen appreciates and shows their thanks to their employees. Without Peter in the kitchen delivering great flavor in every meal, this place may not be what it is. Thank you, Peter and Elena, for the great experience! We have definitely bookmarked this restaurant as one of our favorites!

But…read morewhile many people see the volume izakayas and ramen shops, it's actually quite rare to stumble upon a traditional mom & pop spot that makes classic Japanese favorites. That's why I immediately came down to Tamaya when I noticed the laid back atmosphere, small storefront, and modest food offerings. Walking up on a Wednesday evening around 6:45PM, there was a line to eat in the small dining room. But we were seated relatively quickly. Looking at the menu, there were large variety of appetizers ranging from your chashu and takoyaki to tofu steaks and gyozas. But what I was interested in was the amount of different ramen options, curry plates, and don bowls. With so many choices, you're definitely in for more than your typical Japanese spot. For this visit, I decided to try their Meat Lover's Ramen which was $19.25 at the time of this review. And looking at the bowl, I was very pleased. For one, large chunks of beef, chicken, and chashu pork were all on the surface with some vegetables and cilantro. The noodles to ingredient ratio was pretty equal at about 50% noodles to 50% ingredients. And with a soup base that filled up to the top of the bowl, there was no justification needed for the $19 price tag. If you're looking for a ramen with mass quantity, Tamaya is definitely the spot for you! Taste-wise, the flavors did clash a little as the meats all had different flavors to them. But nonetheless, they all paired well with the rest of the ingredients. While the chunks of beef had a soy sauce undertone to them, the chashu was more sweet and fatty. The chicken tasted lightly stir-fried, but was chunky and filling. The noodles of this dish were softer, but tasted great with the creamy broth. And although the greens were garnishes, they tasted freshly washed and added some fresh flavors to the bowl of ramen. There are so many ramen shops in the San Gabriel Valley that get the hype from so many reviewers. And to that, Tamaya does just as good of a job at making a great ramen (if not better)! The place feels cozy and approachable for those looking to try different kinds of Japanese food, the prices for the food were very good in the Rowland Heights area, the food tasted delicious, and the offerings are very diverse compared to many other specialized places. Because of these offerings, Tamaya easily earns a 5/5 in my book and is a place I will return to again and again.

It's funny because this is a ramen restaurant, but the coffee is surprisingly good and perfectly matches my taste. One of the reasons I enjoy coming here so much is the atmosphere. You can often hear the staff speaking Japanese, which really adds to the authentic vibe and makes it feel like you're eating at a small ramen shop in Japan. Definitely a place I'll keep coming back to.
