One of my favorite places! I normally get ramen, a bento box or rolls. They provide water for everyone. Staff is always friendly. The owner is really kind. They recently installed a new instant ramen machine and he took the time to explain how it works to my friend and helped her make it. They keep the place clean. Our girls are always craving the ramen here as well. The broth has good flavor.
Amazing experience! Everything was fresh and delicious, but the Tonkotsu Ramen is an absolute must-try. The broth is so rich and flavorful! Friendly staff and great atmosphere--I'll definitely be back!
I'll need to try their rolls and ramen because those are their specialties. I only got a bulgogi onigiri, which was ok. Not much filling and at almost $5 that's disappointing. But really, I should have gotten what they're known for. Nice staff though and it was ready quickly.
Crispy rice tuna was yummy . We got a few things and we enjoyed it all. Staff is nice . Not too busy! Food tasted fresh! Love the food court where it's located. Plenty of seating!
Delicious Food! This was my second time at Rodeo 72 and I even though there are a lot of options here I decided to come back to get some more Yubu because I liked them so much. While we waited for our food to be ready we grabbed a drink at the bar and found a table to listen to the live music. Today I ordered the 4 Kings and my friend did also. I got the Salmon, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, and the Shrimp Tempura with spicy crab. I loved all of them, my friend got similar ones but got the bulgogi instead of shrimp. She said it was slightly dry but still good. At $18 for 4 Yubu it was a good deal, I've seen higher prices elsewhere for these. They are very filling. Other options like the hand rolls and ramen looked good too.

Decent! The establishment is located in the middle of Rodeo 72. There are a few spots to sit, and the establishment looked really clean and well kept. Service was really welcoming and friendly. My friend and I ordered a Yubu set and Handroll set. Tried 2 of the Yubu Tuna 8/10 - Fresh and decently seasoned. Bulgogi 6/10 - Tasted like a bite sized bulgogi bowl with tofu skin and some cheese. It was OKAY. Tried 2 Hand Rolls Scallop 9/10 - It was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Tuna 8/10 - Fresh and decently seasoned. Overall - The rice was perfectly cooked. The seafood was exceptional and tasted really fresh. Biggest turnoff for me when it comes to raw seafood is the strong fishy "old" taste, which I definitely did not taste here! Recommend giving this place a try.
First time coming to Rodeo 72. For a food hall handroll spot, it's really not bad. The service was great, the lady was super nice, the guy who made the sushi rolls was attentive and quickly greeted us once we sat down. The food came out quick and the pricing was pretty fair. We ordered a bunch of different rolls. I really liked the flavoring for the salmon carpaccio and the toro handroll. I wanted to try their ramen but it's scorching hot outside so I didn't. Parking is available right outside and there's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating here. Would def come back!
The food here was delicious! I got the chicken bowl, shrimp tempura, edamame and my cousin got a poke bowl which all together added up to about $49. The chicken bowl was really tasty, the chicken was flavorful and soft, the rice was good too, I really enjoyed the combination of everything, and it also includes some sort of potato salad + veggies. The shrimp tempura was so soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, it was to die for. I loved the edamame as well, it was salted on the outside of it so that gave it a nice flavor. I would definitely come back, the service was very quick. I also enjoyed the ambiance of this spot, the seating is comfortable, the chairs have a cushion padding.
First time at Rodeo 72 and at this restaurant. Love the atmosphere and the service. Unfortunately the soup was barely lukewarm, the noodles were hot - chef, please take note that hot noodles will not heat-up the broth! As for the crispy rice, tuna, definitely needed more tuna, a thin layer of tuna is not good or worth the price for this!!!

It was so bad the guy making the hand rolls was just standing there for over five minutes staring around. He looked miserable by the way!!!! The food wasn't any better it definitely lacked something... it was cute sitting on the bar I was hoping for more of an experience, more interaction with a sushi maker, but he just was not friendly.... Maybe it's more of a ramen place, I noticed people got their ramen quickly and enjoyed it..

I asked the counter person what Yubu was because I've never tried it and could not get a simple answer. I finally was told that they only had Salomon and Blue Crab, so I ordered two of each. I also wanted to try their Crispy Rice appetizer but they were out of Tuna, I asked if they could just use Salmon but the counter person didn't understand my simple request. Now let's talk about the hand rolls, they were below average and wrapped in plastic that separated the rice and fish from the seaweed wrap. You had to unravel the plastic, separate the seaweed wrap and roll the rice and fish together. The hand rolls were pretty bland, had no flavor, and way below average. In conclusion, this time the spot under exceeded my expectations but next time I'll eat at the counter instead of take out. Hopefully they have Yubu because I really want to try it and crispy rice appetizers. I think the Management Team needs to be more strategic in meeting the demand, which should have been anticipated. I'll give them another shot, let's hope they don't blow it again!!
The yubus here are so good the first time I tried this place I came back the following week! We got the avocado, shrimp tempura, california and spicy california yubus. Yubus are tofu skin filled with rice and toppings. These little guys pack a punch in flavor. The yubus itself were super flavorful and felt like they were marinated in something. They are super generous with the toppings and it always tastes super fresh. It doesn't look like much food but the yubus really fill you up. I've always tried their crab handroll and it was divine. Karai Handroll bar is located in the rodeo 39 food hall and is so unassuming but so delicious. Would definitely recommend read more
We stumbled across this hand roll bar at Rodeo 72 in Whittier. They have the option to sit at the bar or order through the kiosk for takeout. We ended up ordering the $25 hand roll set (5 different rolls) from the kiosk, and they texted us when our order was ready. The hand rolls themselves were pretty good. They came nicely packaged with a strip you could pull to separate the plastic, allowing you to reform the rice and seaweed so everything stayed fresh, even if you ate them at home. The quality was solid, and overall it was an enjoyable meal. Not bad for something in a food court! read more
Got a spicy salmon poke bowl. The salmon was more minced up instead of big chunks, which actually made it really easy to mix everything together. They didn't add much of salmon, which was a little disappointing, but the bowl was still pretty filling and flavorful overall. Didn't even need the soy sauce they provided. I even had some leftover for later. It came with rice, lettuce, avocado, seaweed salad, cucumber, imitation crab, and salmon. Everything worked well together, especially once it was mixed. read more

A fun different experience in Rodeo 72. Seating was very comfortable and the ambiance was delightful. You order on the iPad and everything is brought out to you. We got the spicy tonkatsu ramen + 2 sodas for $21. Service was quick and efficient, always making sure we were fine and area was clean. read more

TLDR: Quality down, lazy made handrolls - mushy seaweed and comes out all at the same time instead of one by one like it should for freshness. Quality has gone down here considerably and it seems like they just got lazy. As a hand roll bar by name, although I'm not expecting it to be the same quality as the more authentic Japanese counterparts, but you'd expect decent hand rolls. I've been here probably 7-8 times now since it's a nice light lunch alternative in the area. They used to do a decent job at sending out hand rolls one by one to maintain a decent freshness and crunch on the seaweed, but they have since just send everything all at once now in a mushy mess. I feel like this is the biggest difference between Korean Japanese restaurants vs authentic Japanese restaurants. The extra time spent (which they have done before) is what would've kept me as a return customer. Everything outside of the handrolls are not bad. You can't really mess up cut rolls and your run of the mill onigiris and udon based Korean Japanese dishes eg. kimchi/bgogi sushi Final point is the name handroll bar is misleading as it's now probably the worst part of the place. read more

Came by just planning to grab a quick bite since I've tried a few other spots around Rodeo 72 Whittier and they'd all been just okay. Honestly wasn't expecting much, but wow this place really surprised me. The shrimp tempura was perfect for my taste: super crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful inside, and paired so well with the dipping sauce. The tonkotsu ramen really hit the spot too with a rich deep broth full of flavor, and the noodles had just the right bite (a big deal for me). I also tried the avocado roll and crab roll, and both were solid. Service was quick and friendly, and the overall vibe was great. Definitely looking forward to coming back to try the lobster roll, yubu and the spicy buldak ramen next time. read more
Tried this for the first time on a Monday evening on it wasn't too busy. The service was good and all the employees were really nice and welcoming. The food was ok for me. The hand rolls had a lot more rice than fish. The fish was fresh, but it seemed minced and not as plentiful. I guess you can say you get what you pay for because the prices were not too bad. read more

First and foremost the service here is incredible. Everyone here was so nice and welcoming and very attentive despite being incredibly busy. I've been here once and my friend has been here twice. My first time here, I ended up ordering the avocado hand roll. It was very good. We sat down and were able to see them make the rolls in front of us. It was pretty cool. Chairs were very comfy too. I would definitely come back. Also posting what my friend got the 1st time here. Not sure what she ordered but said it was bomb! (It's in the plastic container) I can't wait to try their ramen. The couple next to us ordered it and it looks to die for! read more

It's unfortunate to leave this review because I have been here multiple times and had great service but today was a completely different experience. I came in and tried to order a spicy tonkotsu ramen except with a substitution of tofu instead of pork. I had ordered ramen this way from here before and the server had been helpful when I said that there wasn't an option to make the switch on their POS system, she notified me that she would tell the kitchen. My ramen was perfect that day. Today I tried to do to same exact thing, I placed my order and when I tried to ask the server if she could let the kitchen know to please switch the pork to tofu she responded with "We don't do that" Which was okay, I understand that things change sometimes. I asked if she could void my order and payment to which I was responded with "I don't think we can do that." A member of the kitchen came out and tried to void my order but my payment was not voided only the food. I then asked again if she could try to void the payment and she said "It was none of her business because she doesn't do that". I asked if she could give me a managers contact information to resolve the issue but she ignored my question. She didn't know how to operate their system and wasn't trying to help resolve the issue at all. read more

Brand new place so expect to wait a while I really enjoyed the hand rolls and had the single spicy tuna yubi roll as well... it was ok, I looks like a crunchy like texture but it's more like egg wrapped. Yubu is SO GOOD! 10/10 The spicy tonkotsu ramen was 8/10 but definitely way more flavorful than the original. The service could be better, but it's so busy at times it's understandable. Luckily there's self service ordering! If not I feel like we would've waited forever to order. read more
