They didn't add much of salmon, which was a little disappointing, but the bowl was still pretty filling and flavorful overall. Didn't even need the soy sauce they provided. As a hand roll bar by name, although I'm not expecting it to be the same quality as the more authentic Japanese counterparts, but you'd expect decent hand rolls. I've been here probably 7-8 times now since it's a nice light lunch alternative in the area. They used to do a decent job at sending out hand rolls one by one to maintain a decent freshness and crunch on the seaweed, but they have since just send everything all at once now in a mushy mess. I feel like this is the biggest difference between Korean Japanese restaurants vs authentic Japanese restaurants. The extra time spent (which they have done before) is what would've kept me as a return customer. Everything outside of the handrolls are not bad. The service was great, the lady was super nice, the guy who made the sushi rolls was attentive and quickly greeted us once we sat down. The food came out quick and the pricing was pretty fair. I came to Rodeo 72 for dinner and decided to pick up some food here. This was my first time trying out this spot and I was very disappointed. I totally understand that it's the first opening week so things were very chaotic. The staff looked confused and by early evening they were already out of most food items. I started to place my order for some hand rolls and was told they were out of pretty much everything. I asked the counter person what Yubu was because I've never tried it and could not get a simple answer. I finally was told that they only had Salomon and Blue Crab, so I ordered two of each. I also wanted to try their Crispy Rice appetizer but they were out of Tuna, I asked if they could just use Salmon but the counter person didn't understand my simple request. Now let's talk about the hand rolls, they were below average and wrapped in plastic that separated the rice and fish from the seaweed wrap. You had to unravel the plastic, separate the seaweed wrap and roll the rice and fish together. The hand rolls were pretty bland, had no flavor, and way below average. In conclusion, this time the spot under exceeded my expectations but next time I'll eat at the counter instead of take out. Hopefully they have Yubu because I really want to try it and crispy rice appetizers. I think the Management Team needs to be more strategic in meeting the demand, which should have been anticipated. Got the spicy tonkotsu. It's not bad. You can definitely taste the spiciness though. Make sure to have a drink ready. We ate on the patio so we got it to-go. This place is DELICIOUS! I love handrolls and when this area opened i was looking forward to trying this restaurant in particular. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. You can sit down and order from the ipad or take it to go. We got several fresh handrolls and spicy tuna on crispy rice. We also tried a few of their sauces and we loved the lemon mayo. I came in and tried to order a spicy tonkotsu ramen except with a substitution of tofu instead of pork. I had ordered ramen this way from here before and the server had been helpful when I said that there wasn't an option to make the switch on their POS system, she notified me that she would tell the kitchen. My ramen was perfect that day. Today I tried to do to same exact thing, I placed my order and when I tried to ask the server if she could let the kitchen know to please switch the pork to tofu she responded with "We don't do that" Which was okay, I understand that things change sometimes. I asked if she could void my order and payment to which I was responded with "I don't think we can do that." A member of the kitchen came out and tried to void my order but my payment was not voided only the food. I then asked again if she could try to void the payment and she said "It was none of her business because she doesn't do that". I asked if she could give me a managers contact information to resolve the issue but she ignored my question. Which came with a piece of avocado 3xs bigger than the chopstick sized slice of eel. No mention of avocado on the menu. Just "EEL" I have friends allergic to avocado. I don't feel like the avocado complimented the eel. I would give this place 1 star, but I think their prices are ok so maybe some people can enjoy this place. Incredible night at Karai, dropped by around 5pm on a Saturday and luckily they had a table for us to seat. Dining in experience was top. Dishes are representative of the Japanese cuisine. I gotta say the dishes are presented so pretty here, even in the midst of the busy atmosphere inside. I find it quite peaceful to enjoy my dish here. Tuna King is a Yubu and it was torched to perfection. Kara-age is a stable dish in any Japanese restaurant and it was great. Not too spicy or over fried, just right. Eel hand roll is one of my fav at this place. The fish was marinated just right, not overly smothered in Teriyaki sauce like some other places, full flavored with a savory end. The meat part of eel was of high quality. I was able to bit it into peices, meaning it was not too firm. So far I have had excellent experience at Karai. They increased staff compared to opening days that streamlined the wait time. Hope to return soon to try out some other items soon! read more

This was my second visit, and I was frustrated by how disorganized and chaotic everything felt. The food is still good, but everything else needs serious improvement. 1. First of all, there needs to be a clear line for people waiting to sit down, and someone should be managing that line. When I asked where I should wait, I was told to just sit wherever a seat opens up. That meant I had to stand awkwardly right behind people who were eating -- it felt really intrusive and uncomfortable. 2. Just like last time, no one brought us water until we asked for it. There are plenty of staff members, but no one seems to care or know what they're supposed to be doing. Someone should be managing the dining area. Even without waiters, there should at least be someone I can ask for basic things like water or cups. Also, most of the staff don't seem comfortable communicating in English, so it's hard to get help. 3. At the kiosk, customers place orders thinking it's for dine-in, but it turns out it's for take-out only. No one explains this, so I've seen a lot of people end up confused. Why not just put up a sign that says "To-Go Only" at the kiosk? This little things really needs to be fixed. There are clearly a lot of things that need to be improved for a better customer experience. Again, the food is delicious, and I truly want to see this place succeed, but the lack of proper service and organization is so worrying. read more
