I had never had poke before coming to Ahipoke but I had seen that it was new to the plaza so I wanted to give it a try. I was nervous and didn't know what to get I also didn't want to ask questions since the line was super long. So I asked to order the grilled chicken bowl. The girl with the highlights received me with the biggest smile and a warm welcoming asking if I had been here before and I said no and she right away started giving me samples and suggestions! I realized I no longer wanted the chicken bowl I ended up getting a 3 scoop bowl of their blazing Salomon and their tuna luau along with the tuna lava! For not liking raw fish to now having a new favorite lunch spot. Victor was also a big help giving me new sauces to try and what toppings to put on my bowl. Samuel was nice enough to offer me a sample of their tropical drink as well and all of the staff were warm and helpful. It's not only the food that brings a costumer back but the experience for sure! The service was amazing! They let me know sht most people get and what sauces were the spiciest. The owner was so patient with my I want a lot but a lot of ginger request. I've yet to find any poke as good as this in Whittier. There might be a few but def not the best. This places has quality! They even have salmon bowl and other stuff not just poke! Which I was so excited about. But I got two bowls one with just rice and the other with salad and rice which is why one looks bigger. Overall so fresh, delicious and very nice staff! I was genuinely excited to try this new poke spot, but my first experience was a letdown. I originally asked for a mini bowl with two scoops since it was my first time there. The employee with the blonde highlights immediately came off rude and argumentative, insisting the mini bowl only comes with one scoop. That's completely fine if it's the policy, but there was no reason for the attitude. A simple, friendly explanation would've gone a long way. After that interaction, I just ordered a regular bowl with two different tuna options, and the entire vibe changed. She seemed even more irritated while making my bowl, barely spoke to me, never offered me any samples (even though she was offering them to everyone behind me, including my boyfriend), and it honestly felt like she just wanted to rush me through the line. Then I sat down to eat and couldn't believe how tiny the portions were. The tuna scoops were so skimpy that I literally counted four pieces of tuna in one of them. For the price, that's pretty disappointing. We spent $43 on two bowls and a Spam musubi, and the food wasn't enough to make up for the poor customer service. First impressions matter, and unfortunately ours wasn't a good one. I really wanted to love this place, but between the rude service and the small portions, I don't think we'll be back. read more

We visited the new Santa Fe Springs location, & it was super easy to find with plenty of parking! As soon as we walked in, we noticed how clean & bright the restaurant was. The decor was modern, inviting, & it definitely had us even more excited to eat. We were greeted right away, & the staff was so welcoming & helpful throughout our entire visit. Since it was our first time trying poke bowls, we weren't sure what to order. Kelly took great care of us & gave us some of her favorite recommendations. She helped us build bowls with salmon, two kinds of tuna, crab, half rice, half salad, kelp noodles, almost every topping, & their recommended sauces. She got down!! Wow! Every bite was incredibly fresh, flavorful, & absolutely delicious. They also recommended the musubi (we got 3 different kinds: crab, salmon, spam) & the crab hand roll, which were both so tasty. :D To drink, we ordered the Thai tea & the Tropical Guava, both were so refreshing & delicious! Mmmm! I'm so glad we decided to stop by & give this place a try. The customer service was truly 10/10. My experience at Ahi Poke was great prior to their grand opening, but unfortunately, it has gone downhill since then. Without calling anyone out individually, I've dealt with a visibly irritated female staff member who couldn't explain what came with the mini poke bowl. Additionally, a male employee argued with me about the available bases, insisting a mini bowl only allows one base--even though I had previously been told (and successfully ordered) two bases before. Service has been inconsistent. It's obvious the team lacks uniform training. A proper explanation and a warm, pleasant attitude go a very long way with paying customers. read more

Ok the service is great. But for 40 dollars for two 3 scoops bowls.. here is my take. The scoop is super small! The poke has mixes in it and you get even less fish. Love this place! Tried it for the first time because I saw that it just opened up. When I got there there was a nice surprise of a grand opening special promotion of $10 for 2 scoop bowl! In this economy?! Yes please! I was immediately greeted with warm smiles despite me being there 30 min to closing. (Felt bad about that but was craving poke bad!) The service was friendly and quick. The gentleman that helped me let me try different marinated fishes and sauce as well. I just got the regular salmon scoops though because I like to enjoy mine like a sashimi.
