I found this place and let me tell you it's a hidden gem. I was at work and didn't know what to eat for lunch. Their happy hour caught my attention when I saw them on yelp, and I wanted to try this place out. The food was 10/10. The service was fairly quickly as I came during lunch time. I was seated right away, and since I was looking at the menu I already knew what I wanted! I got the California crunch roll 4pcs & the happy hour crunch roll. Can't forget my strawberry lemonade. The place has a very modern style with the wood and red lanterns. Reminds me of a classic Japanese restaurant. The paintings on the wall were absolutely beautiful. We went in on a random week night. We were quickly greeted and seated which was a plus. This was our first time eating here, so we thumbed through their menu and chose a few items to sample. The interior was clean and there was quite a bit of seating for being such a small space. We also ordered Thai iced tea, which was sad and disappointing. The flavor was odd, maybe old? The food started coming out and it looked really good. Sadly, the food was just overall not great. Everything was fresh, but lacked flavor and their oil gave everything a weird almost rancid flavor. The entire meal was disappointing, except for the spicy tuna. That was the only thing that was actually really good. The waitress was extremely attentive, and cleared things quickly as we finished. So definitely 5 star for service and the speed in which we were served, but we came to eat and the food left a lot to be desired. The egg rolls were also a weird mushy gummy texture, combined with the old oil taste, I couldn't even get past one bite. I probably wouldn't choose to come here again, but if someone else wanted to dine here I might come and just grab a sushi roll since that was the only thing we ordered that was actually good. read more

I phone ordered which was pretty nice because I didn't have to wait when I came in. It was already ready, but drove to my destination and started eating it, and there was something about it that I can't explain more like a watery consistency where the roles kept falling apart, and it just wasn't good. I don't think I would come back. The sushi chef "Jason" is so rude! On their menu it says to inform your server for any allergies before you order, however when we did, the server went ro talk to the sushi chef "Jason" and very rude he said they don't care he is not going to make any accommodations or wash his only knife that he uses for someone that has an allergy, he said we can just leave or take what they give us. Very very rude. Just ruined the dinner moment. So it looks like they prefer to take a risk of a customer getting sick or end up in the hospital. Also in another note, Be aware, they charge tip out of the taxes. read more

I have gotten the firecracker roll, which is very good but very spicy and the tempura spicy tuna roll. It said my order won't be ready till 1:12pm and I ordered at 12:30pm so I freaked out because i needed to get back to work @ 1 but I walked in and my order was ready within 5 min which is great! First the good. The miso soup was hot and delicious. The eel sushi was warm lightly sweet and quite tender. Yummy. Now some things should not be reinvented and here they decided to re-invented the Philadelphia Roll. Why? Let look at what I was server. Horrible! If it says it closes at 930 pm that's when you stop serving, when you start cleaning and start making your customers feel uncomfortable. Instead I did not enjoy my meal, I could get the drink I wanted because it was closed, and meanwhile I'm trying to scarf food down my throat...all the employees are staring at me, like when are you going to be done?!?! Joy Sushi! I have lived in Whittier my entire life and to barely discover Joy Sushi is insane. The interior of this restaurant is so pretty and clean. They also have a variety of rolls and entrees to choose from. I got the tempura roll and it was really really good. My sister got the Bento Box and it was HUGE, she had to get a to-go box! I also noticed that the rolls are much bigger than any other restaurant I have been to. I hope to come back soon, hopefully for their lunch special and some Soju:) read more
