I have been to this restaurant a couple of times with my boyfriend and it is so worth it! The food is amazing and fresh and the ambiance is cute. We love to sit in the patio area when the weather allows it. The service is quick and speedy and this is a place we will always come back too.

I had heard good things about this place, and since it's not far from where I go for acupuncture, I decided to give it a try a couple of times. Unfortunately, I still can't say I really like it. The first time, I ordered the agedashi tofu, one of my favorite dish of all times! but it was a disappointment. For me, it just wasn't made the right way. I didn't have an issue with their fish offerings, but the biggest problem is the rice. The quality is poor, and in the chirashi bowl it was especially noticeable. The rice was clumped together, almost like it wasn't handled properly after cooking. I couldn't even finish the bottom portion. Service has been friendly ,I also think this place is more toward people coming for rolls and drinks rather than traditional dishes. In that case, another downside is the noise level inside. It gets quite annoying and I've found myself needing to wear my ANC earbuds just to be at ease. So.. still looking for a decent sushi place

Great sushi spot. We had for appetizers, the Yuca and Shishito Peppers. That a combo platter of sashimi but can't recall the name . The octopus was not chewy, it was tender. Clean place and good service. They have some unique sushi dishes. It's an interesting yet delightful fusion of flavors with the Peruvian vibe mixed in. Been there twice and enjoyed each visit.

    Toro

Best Toro I've ever tasted!! This plate has Toro cooked in different styles. Some are raw and 2 are cooked/ seared. It melts in your mouth. You can order by individual pieces. I usually order 2 of each. Service is great here as well as their customer service. Everyone is very friendly too. There's no ambiance but restaurant is nice and clean and they have a small outdoor patio. One of my favorite Sushi spots!!

Best Salmon Nigiri!! The quality and consistency is unmatched!! Such juicy, beautiful pieces. It's truly the best salmon nigiri ever. For $7 for two pieces it's the best!!! The restaurant is a casual and comfortable ambience with kind servers :) A hidden gem

Ordered a rainbow roll and what I received was not so much of a rainbow. The fish, which looked to be tuna, was bright red, neon almost and had a slimy coating. Didn't look right. Straight to the waste bin with this one

Delicioussssss! Food was amazing. So much flavor in all their dishes. This Peruvian Japanese fusion knows what they're doing. The lomo saltado with the green sauce was great, maybe needed just a little more noodles, but the meat portion was generous so shout out to them for not skimping on the protein. I HIGHLY recommend the 4-in-1 Roll, as it includes their 4 most popular rolls. That will help you try a variety and see what you like if your a first timer. We also got the Spicy Lobster Roll which packs a punch of flavor. The textures on everything were on point as well. Not too saucy/soggy, just right. Parking is easy. They have a decent amount of tables and also have outdoor seating. Inside the restaurant is very clean and organized. They have TVs inside with sports on. Service was great. Very nice older lady took care of us. She was good checking on us and being very kind. Price was on the higher side, but all worth it.

Had sushi for dinner at Higo Sushi with my lady friend. We each ordered 2 rolls for dinner. Hawaiian and spicy tuna for me, spider and dragon. Walked in at 7:20 on a Friday without a reservation and waited for about 15 minutes for a table. Food was good and once we were seated we were allowed to linger after we finished our sushi and chat at the table. We will be back

The food was ok. I liked the tempura shishito peppers , they were pretty good and came out hot The spicy edamame were ok. The service was ok too. The server did not come by to ask us how we were doing once the food came out. The rice was brought out with my appetizers. I'm used to eating my rice with my chicken teriyaki, not with my appetizer, so by the time I got my entree, the rice was cold. I had to flag down the sever and ask her for another bowl Of rice to be brought out with my chicken teri. The chicken teriyaki was big, but not very tasty. They used to be better. The ambiance was ok, they had football on.

Love Higo Sushi! 5 stars! Peruvian meets Japanese food! Amazing food combinations. The sushi is fresh with a nice Peruvian twist, like chimichurri. Service is super fast and friendly!

Spanish Mackerel that they will lightly deep fry after providing the sushi parts
    Anna T.

First thing you will notice is the extremely kind staff. Very polite and lovely for a casual dinner date. It is seasonal but I recommend their Spanish Mackerel and sweet shrimp. They will serve as sushi , but will not waste the body parts! They offer to lightly deep fry and enjoy everything. Their Seabream sushi and lomo Saltado is a hidden gem. Highly recommend! My favorite place since leaving orange county!

I would suggest calling them or ask your server.

5/5, vegan review included:…read more Vegans & vegetarians this one is for you!! I was shocked to discover Hanamaru served both meat eaters and the plant based crew, and could not believe my eyes when I saw they had a vegan menu on Yelp, but call me astounded when I realized that it was several PAGES long. It reminded me a little of Huntington Ramen in Fullerton, and the similarities make sense since they are sister restaurants, as noted by previous Yelpers. We visited on a Saturday night to celebrate some birthdays, and realized that they had a pretty full crowd. We waited a little to be seated, but afterwards, service was both kind and attentive. I struggled to make up my mind on what to order, because everything on the vegan menu had pictures and looked absolutely phenomenal. I wound up just asking for a recommendation for the most popular roll, and landed on the vegan volcano roll, while my friend ordered the non-vegan volcano roll. We also ordered several small plates: baked mussels for my friend, and vegan inari bomb and vegan tofu karaage for us to share. While we waited, the server brought out two crispy rice--one vegan and one not vegan for us on the house. They were simply delicious, and I will need to order that the next time I'm dining here. Everything we ordered came quickly, and tasted as good as the pictures. My friend tried one of my vegan rolls, and she said it was just as good as her non vegan rolls. They're super flavorful but manage to taste very clean and light, perhaps from the cucumbers. She might just order from the vegan menu next time too! Of the small plates, I liked the tofu karaage more, but only because the flavors on the inari bomb resembled that of the rolls I ordered. I've been to many vegan sushi places over the years, and this is one of my favorite spots, despite it being catered to both meat eaters and vegans alike. After we finished, they also served us one vegan and nonvegan ice cream on the house. While we didn't tell them we were celebrating birthdays, their extremely kind service made us feel exceptionally well taken care of. It was ~$70 after tip and I tipped higher for the great service we received, so pre-tip prices are not unreasonable. This will definitely be my go to spot for whenever I'm craving vegan sushi.

First Visit (Thursday - Essentials AYCE): We came with friends and tried a wide range of appetizers, ramen (good), and sushi, including all the limited premium selections. The shrimp tempura and dipping was very bland, and the soft-shell crab lacked crunch, but the salmon & yellowtail collars were excellent. Fish was fresh. All items were generously portioned and their generous cuts of fish was impressive. We also liked the grab-and-go drinks and desserts (though no Coke Zero). The restaurant filled up quickly after 6pm, so arriving early helped. Service by Sue was friendly and attentive. Second Visit (Friday - Signature AYCE): The Signature upgrade includes an omakase starter, unlimited bluefin tuna, plus everything on the Essentials menu. The unlimited bluefin tuna was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and worth the $15 upgrade. We mainly focused on sushi this time - blue fin, yellow tail, limited premium (scallops were amazing) items, avocado cut rolls, and carpaccios. The shrimp tempura was bland again (strike two) but the shishito peppers were a nice surprise. Finishing with Coke Zero (yay!) and ice cream was perfect. Chelsea, our waitress, was very attentive and engaging. Overall: Fresh fish, generous cuts and portions, and the Signature AYCE upgrade make this spot a gem. They also offer fresh-frozen wasabi which is a plus for me. Not everything hits the mark (tempura!), but the variety, attentive service, and value keep us coming back. Glad to have found a local Japanese restaurant with AYCE options nearby.

Once I tried their sushi for the first time, they quickly became one of my favorites in OC. They fly their fish in every Friday and you can literally taste the freshness. Over the times I've visited, I've tried basically the whole menu but a couple in particular are my favorites. I always start off with the Blue crab appetizer that's wrapped with salmon on the outside and asparagus. Their sushi rolls are all solid here--I can't recommend the signature Chubby roll enough. And if you're feeling adventurous, they even have Tuna bone marrow shots which are actually such a nice palate cleanser! And, of course, the star of the show is the Chubby sashimi platter. Each piece is thiccc and melts in your mouth and even comes with sweet shrimp and uni. This spot is genuinely a 10/10, so if you haven't tried it, like I said, you're definitely missing out!
