I found this place and let me tell you it's a hidden gem. I was at work and didn't know what to eat for lunch. Their happy hour caught my attention when I saw them on yelp, and I wanted to try this place out. The food was 10/10. The service was fairly quickly as I came during lunch time. I was seated right away, and since I was looking at the menu I already knew what I wanted! I got the California crunch roll 4pcs & the happy hour crunch roll. Can't forget my strawberry lemonade. The place has a very modern style with the wood and red lanterns. Reminds me of a classic Japanese restaurant. The paintings on the wall were absolutely beautiful. I will definitely come again.

Never disappoints. Everything is fresh, and the atmosphere is inviting. Great service, fair prices, they don't skimp on the fillings.

We went in on a random week night. We were quickly greeted and seated which was a plus. This was our first time eating here, so we thumbed through their menu and chose a few items to sample. The interior was clean and there was quite a bit of seating for being such a small space. We also ordered Thai iced tea, which was sad and disappointing. The flavor was odd, maybe old? The food started coming out and it looked really good. Sadly, the food was just overall not great. Everything was fresh, but lacked flavor and their oil gave everything a weird almost rancid flavor. The entire meal was disappointing, except for the spicy tuna. That was the only thing that was actually really good. The waitress was extremely attentive, and cleared things quickly as we finished. So definitely 5 star for service and the speed in which we were served, but we came to eat and the food left a lot to be desired. The egg rolls were also a weird mushy gummy texture, combined with the old oil taste, I couldn't even get past one bite. I probably wouldn't choose to come here again, but if someone else wanted to dine here I might come and just grab a sushi roll since that was the only thing we ordered that was actually good.

If you need to place to hang out and have good energy vibes and ambience is a place. The food is always great. The sushi is always fresh. I always get the avocado appetizer and the baked salmon rolls along with the TNT, which is baked with scallops and salmon. Everything is great, service is generally fast here if you are a local in Whittier, this place isa must try!

I don't know why I was so excited to order sushi and I came out here to this area for something important and I decided to stop at this little sushi spot for to go sushi. I phone ordered which was pretty nice because I didn't have to wait when I came in. It was already ready, but drove to my destination and started eating it, and there was something about it that I can't explain more like a watery consistency where the roles kept falling apart, and it just wasn't good. I ordered two rolls one crunchy and one California roll and to be honest with you definitely was not what I was expecting. Craving was not satisfied.

Pretty good sushi and the tap beer specials are unbeatable in Whittier. Try the udon on a California "cold" day, you won't regret it.

Normally we love Joy but today super disappointed. I know it's a busy day but at least take the time to say you can't take our order.

The food was amazingly delicious. Friendly staff clean and cozy. We had the lobster roll, Diablo roll, Jala Jala role, Jessica roll and the Triple B Bento Box. We arrived just as they were opening for the day. Seated immediately and didn't take long to place our orders. Three of us went with the Kitchen Combo. One chose pork cutlet entree. Two selected bulgogi entree. Our fourth diner ordered a tempura appetizer. Warm bowls of Miso soup arrived almost immediately. Delicious. The tiny restaurant filled very quickly with diners and a continuous flow of take-out orders. They were busy. Service was attentive throughout. Our food arrived. Bento platters full with crispy tempura veggies, California rolls, one scoop rice, tossed salad, and our entrees. Ginger and wasabi served on the side. - Tempura veg & one slim shrimp was good. - Salad, minimal and mediocre. - Sushi roll was basic. - Pork cutlet was beautifully displayed on a bed of crispy rice noodles. The diner declared it delicious. - My disappointing bulgogi was filled with gristle and connective tissue covered by a pleasantly sweet sauce. The meat was inedible. I could not breakdown the pieces I chewed and mostly removed from my mouth with a napkin. There are other entree choices - salmon, chicken, pork cutlet. This time I chose wrong. We each took home more than half our lunch to enjoy later. I combed thru the bulgogi with the same results and just tossed it. The restaurant is clean, cute, nicely decorated. Excellent service. Lots of free & easy parking. The location is too far out of my way to choose them again. I won't be back.

My husband and I have been to this restaurant a handful of times, and we stopped by recently…read more We started off by ordering our drinks; I ordered Iced Green Tea while my husband had a Sapporo Beer. Both of our drinks tasted great and were refreshing. The Iced Green Tea also had free refills, which was nice. Next we ordered some appetizers; the Spicy Garlic Edamame (our usual) and the King Crab Bites (to try something new). The Spicy Garlic Edamame was tasty as usual and had a nice kick. My husband wasn't a fan of the King Crab Bites because he thought they could've used more flavor and the texture was off. Lastly, we ordered our entrees; I tried something new and ordered the Pork Curry Katsu while my husband had the Pork Cutlet Ramen (mild spice level). The Pork Curry Katsu was delicious, complex, and full of flavor. The pork katsu was crispy and cooked to perfection, which complemented the curry and rice. My husband enjoyed his Pork Cutlet Ramen as well. His only issue was that it could've used a bit more salt. It is pricey here, but they do give generous entree portions. We were very full and had some leftovers to take home for later. We had a few different servers, and they were all polite and helpful. Our food was brought out quickly, which was also great. The only issue is that the service was a bit spotty and we weren't checked on very often to see if we needed anything (for example, I didn't get any refills). It wasn't too busy either, so I'm not sure why this was the case. The interior was clean and had a casual, slightly lively atmosphere. They have blend of modern and traditional Japanese decor, which gives off a comfy/modern dining experience. There's a decent amount of seating, and you have the option of sitting at the bar or a table. Both options put you in close proximity to other diners, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. They also had different mix of music genres playing in the background. Overall we had a decent experience and plan on stopping by again soon!
