I've used E-Drains numerous times over the previous few years. They've always done the job and I haven't had any complaints with their work. Recently, I've had a poor experience and can no longer recommend them to anyone else. I requested service for a shower drain to be cleared on 11/10/22. They were able to fit me in the following day and came to clear the drain. When the plumber arrived, he said the drain was fully cleared already and he didn't need to do anything. Soon after (11/14/22), I was billed for the full amount of the service call ($77). Although $77 is not a large amount, I took issue with the fact that no work was performed and yet I was being billed the full amount. I was assuming I'd pay some type of travel charge, but instead was fully billed. I held off paying the invoice until I could communicate with the company. I was reminded to pay the invoice on 11/21/22 and I asked why I was being billed the full amount when no work was performed. The answer was "...because we went out there and Oceanside as you know is far and gas is not cheap right now". Not a good answer and was not, as far as I was aware, part of any existing policy. On 11/28/22 I was reminded again about the outstanding bill and after sharing (again) my issue I was ignored. Instead of dragging it out any longer, I paid the entire bill that day and decided to move on. I was thanked for making the payment (which was made just 17 days after the initial service date) and I thought that was the end of it. When I had another issue recently I had a co-worker reach out to set up an appointment and she was told E-Drains would not work with me due to a previous "billing issue". I reached back out and was completely ignored. I've essentially been blacklisted by this company due to a legitimate concern on their billing and, despite them never addressing my concern, I still paid the full amount a couple of weeks later (well within 30 days). I've now wasted way too much time, including this drawn out review to tell you that while I would anticipate the work done is reasonable, the billing/costs are questionable and the company's business practices are, in my experience, sketchy, untrustworthy, and just plain rude. read more

The plumber was fine. But the woman customer service representative was reprehensible.

First: this is not the same Baird as "George Baird Plumbing which is also in La Mesa). My 90 year old mother originally hired this company (Baird Drain Service) to do a repair on a clogged drain thinking it was the other Baird Plumbing (George Baird Plumbing who she had used in the past and liked). She got rolled over by this company and duped into signing a very pricey estimate: this morphed into an $18,000 (actually more than 22k of her retirement funds if you include all the repairs to the floor and rest of bathroom) and while this was going on the water heater stopped working in her tiny studio cottage in the back so she had them replace it (Another several thousand dollars later). Less than a year later, the water heater no longer works. After many phone calls, they finally sent someone out at 5pm who then said he didn't bring his tools so couldn't do anything and would have to come back again on another day -and added we would still have to pay the emergency call out fee. After several more calls they told me to call the original plumber that did the actual installation. I did this and that plumber told me he's too busy and that he was subcontracted by Baird Drain Service so I should be working directly with them. Finally someone came out who said it was an electrical problem. We called the electrician who cam e out and tested everything and said its NOT an electrical problem and that the new circuit breaker that we had installed just for the water heater alone was working just fine. Baird Drain Service then told me to call the water heater manufacturer directly. I went to the website of that company which stated to work through the plumber rather than them directly. I called Baird back saying that this run around was really too much and a month later, my mothers live in care nurse still has no hotwater and that we would consider small claims court if we couldn't get this sorted. She then hung up on me. Bottom line: DON"T USE THIS COMPANY!! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK AND WILL JUST PASS THE BUCK UNTIL YOU REDO THEIR SHODDY WORK WITH SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE YOU JUST CAN"T WAIT ANY LONGER. read more

My wife and I tried to troubleshoot a kitchen sink clog ourselves and bought a 25 ft snake to clear out the clog, but it didn't work. After about a week of trying different things we finally caved and called our friend who recommended this company. I called late Tuesday and left a message regarding a clog in our kitchen sink line. I got a call back within about 15 minutes and Eddie was very polite as he explained the options and pricing. Ahmad showed up promptly at 7:00 am (actually a few minutes early). They quoted $77 if they could clear it out of the cleanout. That wasn't possible in our case as the cleanout cap was fused to the pipe. That pushed the price up to $125 since Ahmad had to go through the sink. He snaked it with an industrial snake and unfortunately the blockage sent the snake up to the upper floor instead of down into the blockage. Ahmad had to find the pipe leading down from the sink and opened up the dry wall. Alas, he had to try a few times before finding his way to the pipe. Once he was in, he got the clog cleared pretty quickly. He was nice and knowledgeable, but I'm a little disappointed that we have two 8x8 holes in our garage dry wall and a smaller one in the laundry room that we'll have to patch up. Also, the price did jump significantly up from $125 to $800. Not how I was planning to spend my holiday money, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Update: Ahmad called me back this afternoon and offered to come back and patch up the drywall holes mentioned above. I appreciate the quick response and willingness to come back and fix them. I accidentally called these scammers for a slow draining sink in a laundry room. The tech snaked our main line and said we had a broken pipe at 35 feet which would require him to saw cut our living room hard wood floors to repair for $2900 (Received the bid from E-Drains and not Baird Drain Service). The tech also quickly used their in-line camera and said the line was cloudy and he couldn't confirm the broken line but only mentioned it after he put the camera away. I had someone else confirm the 35-foot broken pipe and they got to 70 feet in 20 minutes and confirmed there is/was NO broken pipe. Total joke company. Call George Baird Drain Service and NOT this outfit scamming their business...... read more

This is a mixed review. Ahmad came out to unclog our drain and talked me into Hydrojetting from the roof since if he took the toilet off to snake, he would not guarantee that he could replace the toilet. Aren't you a licensed plumber?! He proceeded with Hydrojetting and upon sending his camera down, he quickly "discovered" that the pipe was broken. Sounds a lot like Kaylee T's review (read that! Note I was also home without my husband dealing with Ahmad. Sound similar?). He would not continue with the Hydrojetting and told us it would cost $5500 to replace the broken pipe. My husband is a licensed contractor and had his plumber (also a licensed plumber) out to investigate the broken pipe the next day. Turns out there was NO BROKEN PIPE! We called the contracting company (or at least Baird's Drain Service number that I originally called when I was ACTUALLY looking for George Baird's Drain Service- my mistake. I will NEVER make that mistake again. George Baird's Drain Service is superb!) who sent E-Drains to us and argued with the manager (other reviews also say she is rude, I concur!) that there was clog and not a broken pipe. Reluctantly, they sent out Edy from E-Drains the next day to investigate. Edy removed the toilet and found a huge clog where our plumber said it was. Edy did a fantastic job at unclogging the pipe in our granny flat. Turns out the pipe was NOT broken and was clogged with so-called "flushable" wipes. He unclogged it and everything is draining properly! Thank you Edy for your persistency in unclogging our drain. Note to all: THEY ARE NOT FLUSHABLE WIPES. They lie! =) Overall, Edy did a great job, but reading other posts, there is too much similarity here. Broken pipe and $5K plus in work or try all you can and unclog the drain. Overall, I was out $485 plus the fees for our plumber to dig up the backyard and underneath the house to expose the so-called broken pipe...not to mention the mess. Not sure I trust their motives, but thank you Edy for unclogging the drain. read more

Do not call the 858 area code, they took somebody else name that is fantastic the 619 area code for George Baird Drain, they are the best, have used them for 25 years and still best price in town. Excellent service. Due to the recent heavy rains, our side yard was flooded due to storm drainage issue. I called E-drains and set an appointment for the following day. Edy showed up early the next morning with big truck. I tried to blast the pipe, but wasn't successful in clearing the blockage. He then run a video and it shows a collapsed pipe with lots of tree roots. He inform me that he replace the drain pipe and he quoted me a figure and need a 10% deposit. Since we have this issues before, so I authorize him to go ahead with the pipe replacement. I schedule the work for the following week. His crew was amazing. Since we had an artificial turf and told them to minimize any soil going to the artificial turf. When they completed the pipe replacement, and the trench was properly fill up. The artificial turf was put back in manner that there is noticeable or sign that the turf was removed. Highly recommended. read more

This company holds itself out as Baird Drain Service online. - but their invoice is called E-Drains, same address and phone. They are not the original Bairds, a company, also in La Mesa, that provides drain cleaning services. The original Bairds is fair, great workers and great value. These people do not correct you if you ask if they are the original Bairds, they charge 3 times the amount of money, and when my drain clogged again 2 days after the service they wanted to charge me another $125.00 to clear the drain. And then, when I asked why they would charge me again, she wanted me to pay up front, because of the "tone of my voice" (annoyed). When I told her I was a over 20 year customer of (the real) Bairds, a property owner and attorney she replied "we don't like lawyers, so you would have to pay up front. When I realized this was the wrong company I called George Baird drain service -- DON'T USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE A RIP OFF AND THEY ARE PRETENDING TO BE A LEGITIMATE, LONG TIME SAN DIEGO COMPANY. read more
