    Pork & Scallion Potstickers
    Brian T.

We recently visited Dumpling World for lunch time with the family. Our group of 6 was seated at one of their large round tables/benches which fit our group perfectly. You know I love round tables when dining with a group, especially if we're eating family style! We came at 12:15 on a Sunday and there were only a few tables dining in. However after about 20 minutes, people started coming in droves, including a group of 20, likely the after-church crowd. By the time we finished eating, the restaurant was filled, with only 1 or 2 empty tables. Service was fast and friendly throughout our visit. At first, the servers looked bored as they were standing around with only a few tables to wait on. Fortunately, that changed quickly and they still were attentive to our table. We ordered the Pork Xiaolongbao, Pork & Scallion Pan-Fried Thumb Buns, Pork & Scallion Potstickers, Eggplant & Minced Pork Noodle, Chinese Burrito set with Sautéed Shredded Pork, Orange Chicken, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and Shrimp & Pork Wonton Soup. My favorites were the Pan-Fried Thumb Buns and the Eggplant & Minced Pork Noodle! The thumb buns are basically steamed dumplings that are pan-fried on the bottom to give it extra crisp. The (dry) noodle dish is so flavorful and they manage to make the eggplant pieces extra crispy. The hand-pulled noodles in that one also have a nice chewy texture to them. The Chinese Burrito was definitely a unique one - not quite moo shu pork, but similar concept with the pancake wrapper that you stuff with the meat and veggies. I'd be interested to try the other variations they have of this. The Xialongbao tasted fine, however every one of our 6 dumplings stuck to the paper base, which caused some to break as we were trying to separate them from the paper. One improvement area is the presentation of the dishes. Dishes are served on (hard) plastic plates which feel a bit cheap and slide around the table easily, especially if you're family styling everything. Also, each dish came with what seemed to be a random utensil for serving. Some came with a metal fork, some came with a metal spoon, some came with nothing at all and we had to ask for an extra spoon. Consistency would be helpful here, along with actual serving utensils rather than just a small spoon or fork. Even tongs would be helpful for the dry noodle dishes! Dumpling World is a solid spot for Asian food in the Clear Lake area. Whether you're looking for dumpling and noodle dishes, or just Americanized Chinese food, the menu is fairly comprehensive with lots to choose from. While I do miss Noodles & Dumplings that was previously in this spot, Dumpling World has definitely made their mark.

Food, Service all 10/10! Ambiance 9/10 just cause it was rather warm in there and I had to ask them to turn on the air. It was definitely a different restaurant before but who cares. The dumplings were huge and had a ton of soup. And it was flavorful! The little thumb buns were fun to eat and the green beens were good. I did add some chili oil for a kick. But damn I'm definitely coming back and I highly recommend others to come. The quality for the price is great.

Probably the best spot in the Clear Lake area for soup dumplings! They have a solid menu of assorted steamed/fried dumplings and wontons as well as standard Chinese American dishes. We ordered a couple orders of the pork soup dumplings which were savory and pairs well with some chili crisp and vinegar. The Dan Dan noodles with minced pork and sesame paste was also a great side (and on par with other spots like Mala Sichuan). I also tried the Sichuan green beans and chow mein (for the kiddos). Service was also quick and helpful. You probably won't find a better spot in SE Houston outside of traveling to downtown/Bellaire area for similar quality dumplings or dim sum.

Woah! This place is SO good! Started off with mushroom soup dumplings, braised pork potstickers, and sour soup dumplings and after we finished those I proceeded to order 2 more dumplings which were the shrimp and pork soup dumplings and the chicken and corn potstickers. Loved all of them. Fantastic dumplings. Service was nice too they bring an iPad and double check with you to make sure everything was ordered correctly. Cute little place that feels like it's in the middle of nowhere but I feel that adds more charm to it. Overall would come back to try more dumplings. Now, you may be wondering why it's 4 stars instead of 5. It's pricey to eat here. I spent $100 and only ordered 5 rounds of dumplings. As much as I like the potstickers and the soup dumplings you only get 6 for anywhere between $10-12 which I find a bit steep. Regardless would come back when I'm craving a REALLY good dumpling and willing to splurge money. But def not a place I can just come whenever I feel like due to the price tag.

My parents, husband and I were regulars at 888 Bistro, ironically next door. It has been awhile since we'd been back because the quality and service wasn't consistently up to par. So, I found Dumpling World based on other Yelpers and thought we'd give them a try. Don't let the outside appearance deter you from giving them a chance. We were glad we did. The interior was very spacious, clean and bright. The second we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We ordered the lunch specials, which come with a choice of soup and an appetizer. The lunch prices were good value for your money. The shrimp lunch specials were only a $1.00 more, which is unusual these days. The food came out fairly quick and was very tasty. I'm picky about my hot & sour soup. I like to make it at home when I have time. I'd give it an 8/10 it could've been slightly more sour and spicy. It was the perfect consistency of thickness and not runny just like the way my parents used to make it decades ago at their old restaurant, China Star. IYKYK! Coincidentally, down the street on Sealark! I had some extra chili oil and vinegar they had on the table so I added more flavor. The service and food were great. We'll be bringing my parents next time to try their dumplings!

Woahhhh I was in HEAVEN here!! Pork soup dumplings- these were my girlfriend's faves we order two rounds of them. So flavorful and tender. The shrimp, pork and chive boiled was my personal favorite. All of the dumplings we got we HUGE- these had big pieces of shrimps and a lot of chives. I enjoyed it but I know heavy on the chive isn't great to everyone so beware when you order. The curry and potato was huge and flavorful as well! The cheese crab puffs were a great way to start the night. I can't rave enough about this place. It was clean, the service was so nice and very quick. I can't wait to come again and try even more!

I LOVE the Pork & Scallion Pan fried Dumplings! I try to come here at least once a week especially since this location is not real close to the area of town I hang out. Lunch for me usually costs below $20 including my tea. Service has always been great. I usually come around lunch time during the week.

I had to come here because I'd never had soup dumplings before but keep hearing how good they are! We had a party of 5. Myself and my husband, 11 year old, 5 year old, and 3 year old. My 11 YO is vegetarian and was nervous there wouldn't be enough food he could have but there was plenty. We got veggie spring rolls, steamed bok choy dumplings, steamed spicy tofu dumplings, spicy and sour pork dumplings, pork and mushroom soup dumplings, taro soup dessert dumplings, and bunny custard dumplings. It was a lot of food and there was nothing left by the time we were done. If I could do it again, I think I would get the veggie dumplings potstickers instead because I think the extra texture and a little more flavor would be great. The spicy and sour dumplings were amazing and not spicy at all! I will 100% be getting them again next time (and there WILL be a next time). The bunny custard dumplings were so good I'll be thinking about them all the time! If im Not stopping in for everything any time in in the area, I'll be stopping for a to-go order of the bunny custard dumplings. They are the perfect amount of sweet and are soooo cute! The service was amazing. They were so kind and answered all the questions we had about everything while also being patient and kind to the little kids. The booth we sat in was round and had a vintage vibe to it. It was comfortable, which says a lot coming from me. I usually cut my time short at restaurants if the seats are too u comfortable for my bad back. We will be back! When you visit, make sure you get the spicy and sour dumplings and the bunny custard dumplings. You won't regret it!

Food was all great! Soup dumplings were large. The steamed dumplings flavorful. The wonton soup was good. Sesame noodles were chewy, in a good way. Tried their milk teas too. Service was friendly. We were the 1st customers so it was pretty quiet but I can see this place getting quite crowded.

    Rox And Mike K.

Rox: OMG I've been wanting to come here forever and it did NOT disappoint. Probably the best dumplings I've had. Pork xiao long bao is always my favorite and these were amazing. Big time sleeper hit here is the curry beef & vermicelli steamed dumplings! Can't wait to come back and try everything else. The only thing I would stay away from is the Szechuan noodles...unfortunately I tasted no Szechuan, and no spice at all--just tasted like a glob of peanut butter on noodles. I also do wish the chili oil was spicier. That said, if you get 5 stars from me and you don't have a full bar, you are really knocking it out of the park with your food :) Mike: well Rox clearly took the show here. I will say this place was hands down my favorite dumpling place I've been to. Had our picky 10yo with us who literally ate everything! The pork soup dumplings were the best I've ever had and the curry beef dumplings were different, but probably my favorite. We will be back and it will be soon!

    John H.

You have to give credit where credit is due. I'm in Houston for a wedding, at a hotel without a car, craving Szechuan. I ordered this on DoorDash, it got here in about 30 minutes. The food was extremely hot, I love the fact they separated out the dumplings from the broth and the eggplant pork from the noodles. It's the little things that matter. The flavors are great, highly recommend this place!

**This is a 3.5 star review based on a to-go order.** If you peruse my reviews, you'll see that I was a soup dumpling junkie before they ever arrived in Texas. The soup dumplings here are almost perfect when it comes to broth-to-meat ratio and thickness of the dumpling. Kudos to these guys, especially since mine was a to-go order! Some soup dumpling joints will not sell them to-go, because they are truly an eat-it-now delicacy. It was interesting that the lady taking my phone order warned me that they might not be as good when ordered to go. That's excellent service. So, the ambiance of this place is pretty much the same as the previous dumpling joint that inhabited this real estate. It's clean and bright, and BYOB. Though there are a ton of dumpling options on the menu, it also features its fair share of Americanized Chinese dishes. I came here on a Monday evening because my wife was hacking up a lung, and I thought that some good wonton soup would do her good. While there, I picked up some beef fried rice for the boy, some hot & sour soup and -- soup dumplings. She did not seem overly impressed with the wonton soup. I, on the other hand, was impressed that they packed the dumplings and broth separately. I also like the fact that they left it up to us to add the salt/soy sauce. (I think the lack of salt in the broth was her issue.) Still, the dumplings were just this side of al dente and nicely flavored. The hot and sour soup checks most of the boxes ... except it was almost sweet. Nothing that a little chile oil and soy sauce didn't fix. And, unlike many other Chinese take-out places, these guys packed some fried wontons into the bag. My son told me that the beef fried rice was OK, so I took a bite myself. It's actually wonderful, with firm rice, plenty of egg and melty slices of beef. "They really didn't season it much," he told me. "Well, they really didn't add a boatload of soy sauce," I responded. "So add some yourself." And then the problem was fixed. Finally, the soup dumplings here are well-crafted. The broth, albeit rich, should be a little more salted. It's not so easy to add soy sauce to a pasta pocket containing broth and pork. -- Still, I would certainly eat these again. Bottom line: I like this place, and I plan to explore the menu on future visits.

We came with a group of 18 people, and the bill ended up being around $972. Unfortunately, most of the dishes were more impressive visually than flavor-wise. The colorful green fried rice looked unique, but honestly just tasted like regular fried rice. The green beans were overcooked, so they lost the crunch and sweetness that usually make that dish enjoyable. The green curry was extremely spicy, but outside of the heat, it wasn't very memorable. The shaking beef dish looked amazing presentation-wise, but the sauce was too sweet for a savory dish, and the crispy rice pairing just didn't work well for me. I initially thought the duck dish was Peking duck, but it was actually the Jasmine Tea Smoked Duck. Even so, everyone at my table agreed we still preferred the traditional Peking duck style. The duck itself lacked flavor for us, and the skin was soft instead of having the crisp texture we were hoping for. The only dishes I genuinely enjoyed were the soup dumplings, cucumber salad, and fried dumplings. Most of the other dishes at the table were barely touched. If you're looking for colorful, aesthetically pleasing food and great presentation, you may enjoy this place. But if flavor is your main priority, this spot just wasn't for me personally.

Service and the kitchen staff is a mess where it's most evident during their busiest hours. At one point, Cantonese was spoken but it also seems that's no longer the case. Previously the food was passable, but now it's near abysmal. Siu mai was hearty, but fairly bland. The same applies to their spare ribs (排骨), beef balls (牛肉球), and steamed glutinous rice in leaf (糯米雞). I felt their custard buns (奶黃包), fried stuffed crab claw (釀蟹鉗), fried glutinous dumpling (鹹水角) and the turnip cake (蘿蔔糕) were dried out. While the shrimp dumplings (蝦餃) and rice rolls (腸粉) mostly passed the test, it needed lots of soy sauce + condiments to be worth it. The only winner was their beef chow fun (乾炒牛河), where the beef and ho fun noodles were tender, while also being adequately greasy. The bonus bits of fried egg within were a nice surprise. While the prices range from $3.75-$9.70, a majority of it will average out to be $5-6 a dish. This isn't a terrible deal per se, especially during these times. However, it is a big price to pay for service issues and sub-par quality dim sum. While I'm hopeful that they'll rebound and I hope the Joy returns, but I don't think I will. __________ (#1) FZ / FJ peeps, where ya at?

Don't be fooled by its English name, you will not be eating Shanghainese food here: this is a traditional Cantonese restaurant. In typical Chinese American fashion, we had the "adult" table and of course we sat at the "kids" table. We ordered the classics as pictured. The food is always tasty and consistent. Service is friendly and the even though this spot is no frills, it is a familiar place with a very family-centered atmosphere. You can not go wrong with old reliable. If you are ever craving authentic, traditional Cantonese cooking without the large, dim sum hybrid model, I definitely recommend this place. Perfect for lunch with coworkers, by yourself, and great for larger dinners with the whole family.

We had eaten here years ago before the whole shopping center was remodeled. We arrived around 5:00 PM for dinner and were seated quickly. The food came out fairly quickly and was flavorful. It was four of us so we ordered: Hot & Sour Soup, Beef with Bitter Mellon, Beef Flat Rice Noodle (dry), Cantonese Sweet & Sour Pork (with pineapple) I was impressed how silky and tender the beef was. The sweet & sour was perfect lightly battered and crispy. The hot & sour could've been a bit more sour but had a small kick to it. It was perfect for my parents, but my husband and I had to add some chili oil & soy sauce for more flavor. The quality of the food 9/10, the price was a bit on the pricey side for the portions of the dishes. The hot & sour soup was $17! It wasn't anything special about it. I thought it was a bit steep for a family size, but I guess good service made up for it. I'm not sure if they were offering Chinese New Year specials, but within an hour there were several big parties with reservations. I recommend this place for authentic Cantonese Chinese food. It's rare to find good food and good service!

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.
