Thumb size pan fried pork bun

You won't know if you like a place until you try it. I dont know if I would dine here again unless I'm too lazy to drive into the city. 88 Dumpling House is super crammed seating-wise. Couldn't sit comfy cuz someone would bump into you or brush by you with their purse. Ordered at the kiosk. Didn't realize it would take so long to get food. I think it took over 30 minutes before food came out. Not the restaurant's fault but dining experience wasn't great. Tried to get sauce (self-serve) and I hear a lady behind me clicking her tongue. Like dang can't a girl get her soy sauce/vinegar/chili oil for her dumplings within less than a minute. Black truffle w/ pork XLB came out first. Was super excited for this but it looked DRY and surprise... pretty much no soup in the XLB. Truffle taste was there tho. Chicken pot stickers were the highlight of the meal. Probably had one of the worst spicy pork wonton in chili oil in a while. Wasn't even spicy; more salty... Thumb size pan fried pork bun were average. Save your taste buds for other better soup dumpling places in the Houston area!

I grabbed lunch here and was able to enjoy their lunch specials. I ordered the noodles with beef, chicken, and shrimp. It also comes with three dumplings, roll, & egg drop soup. The dumplings were yummy, the only complaint I have is my noodles had very little protein of the three that were supposed to come with it. The portions were a good size though. Also, I had the Taro boba and it was so yummy. Inside was nice and clean, a little small is all. They also ask for a tip at the end of ordering on the kiosk. I am for tipping but, at receiving a full service- not to-go food.

They just opened and are already packed! It's a small space inside so we had to order to go. Food took a while to prepare due to the crowds so I'll give them so slack. We had the dan dan noodles, curry Xiao long bao and truffle baos. All were delicious and had so much flavor! My favorite was the truffle baos if you're into truffle. Super savory and bursting with soup! Lots of parking in the parking lot.

Small little shop for dumplings. I really liked the ordering process and I think it's probably the way places will start using more in the future. The way you order is on a touchscreen and you select what you want on the menu. They had a variety of dumpling choices and even noodles/entrees. I think the price is reasonable. I really enjoyed the taste and texture of the dumplings. I got the Four-color Dumpling Platter (chicken Onion And Mushroom Pork And Three Delicacies (shrimp Pork And Chives) Beef And Cabbage) which was $8.99 for 8 pieces and the Spicy Hot Pot Soup Dumpling with 4pcs for $7.99. For the drink I decided to try the Strawberry Matcha Bobo Cloud for $5.99. My favorite was the spicy hot pot soup dumplings it was very flavorful and had a hint of spice, 5 stars on that. The colorful dumplings were aesthically cute and also flavorful but I think that was more of a 4 star, I'm not a big fan of onions. The onion taste isn't strong but I think that's what threw off the flavor for me, it was a tolerable flavor I would've never guessed it was in there. The boba wasn't it. It was okay I'll give it 3 stars. It just tastes like they threw in some strawberry puree in it and I didn't really taste the matcha flavor at all. It tasted more like milk than matcha. The tapioca did have a nice texture at least, not too soft and not hard. It did take quite awhile to get my food. It was about 36 minutes. It was busy but not too crowded. I think it's because there is only like 2 staff members I'm not sure. They do have a really secure cute to go bag for food.

I've been to their other location so I was surprised and happy when I found out that this location is close to my house. They just opened and is currently offering 20% off your bill. We went on a Friday night. The place is smaller than the other location so we decided to just take it to go since there is hardly anyplace to sit. There were a lot of people. You place your order on the kiosk. Their food is as good as the other location. We ordered chicken fried rice, pork and cabbage dumplings, shrimp with pork potstickers (my favorite), thumb-size pan fried pork bun (daughter's favorite), honey walnut shrimp (too much mayo), Thai milk black tea, and taro boba tea (boba was hard). They were very busy with the onslaught of orders so I'll cut them some slack since they just opened. Their takeout bags are cute and reusable.

Such a hidden gem! The fried pork wontons are crave worthy! The best variety- from heartier chicken, pork, and shrimp dishes to the best dumplings around. So hard to choose! Love the crawfish fried rice, the three delicacies, and the pork soup dumplings! Order family style so you can try everything!

The food here is absolute delicious and they don't skimp on portion size. My husband and I dined in, but ended up taking two bags of food home because the portions were bigger than expected. More than enough parking. You can dine in, but the place is relatively small. They have cute, insulated, sealable to-go bags though so your food stays fresh to take home. I can see myself ordering to-go on my way home from work. Most of how they operate is on your own. You order on a touch-screen kiosk, get your own sauce at the sauce station, get you own water at the water station, and get your own lids to cover your food in the to-go containers that the food in already served in. The owner still went around and checked up on everyone though since they just opened recently. Nice people :)

Cute little spot for dumplings in Pearland! We visited during lunar new year and loved it can't wait to visit again! A variety of options and great ambiance

Small store but very clean. Food was delicious and the service was great. Don't need to spend 30 minutes for driving to Bellaire for fresh dumpling.

Ordered to go place is clean presentation is above my standards omg, portion size is there it's worth the price, the hot and sour soup tho is kinda bland needs more kick, dumplings are excellent I can do without the eggroll, overall I'd go back and try more items thanks for the experience

Thumb pork fried dumplings (I think lol)

Everything was SO good! My favorite were the thumb pork dumplings. The service was quick and you order from a kiosk which I liked actually. It's a small establishment but perfect for a quick meal! I think we were in and out within 30 mins. We'll be back :)

The outside look the same and inside of the restaurant looks inviting, clean, and well maintained. Our host and wait staff were friendly and professional. The table ordered various dishes Pekin Duck, Beef Noodles, Lobster with ginger and green onions on a crispy noodle nest, pork ribs, and a squid. Our friend had to ask about her Duck since they all the dishes arrived except for the Duck. What did we think about the food? We all have different tastes duds but personally I was not a fan of our food. My husband did indicate liking his Lobster dish. Our friends didn't say. At the end of our meal, we were attempting to drink our tea. However, a male staff member , who had spent his time screaming at his staff, walked by and tapped his hand on the table telling us to wrap it because people were waiting. Yes, we did make reservations. With the meal over, we simply wanted to finish the meal with hot tea. As always, I encourage foodies to try the experience for themselves. Happy Eating

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

The food overall was flavorful and fresh. The noodles were cooked well and had a nice balance of sauce without being too heavy. The sweet & sour pork had that classic crispy texture with a bold sauce. The crab cheese puffs were decent crispy on the outside and creamy inside but I do wish they had a little more crab flavor to really elevate them. One small detail I loved: the to-go bags. They were sturdy, well-designed, and matched the restaurant's aesthetic definitely gives that extra polished touch. Overall: Great service, solid food, and good value. Every bite of everything I ordered was so delicious and fresh. The dough on each and every single steamed dumpling was soft with a pinch of nibble to them combined with a little tingle of sweetness. The meat in each was so soft, moist and seasoned / flavored really well. I always get the beef ones as at least one of my orders when dining or takeout. I generally am not a big pork person, but the pork meat in these purse ones is really tasty and aromatic. The veggie ones were tasty inside with a unique veggie flavor prep to them in a different way than the meat ones, but still a winner. The Chicken With Garlic Sauce is my favorite entree / non-dumpling dish here and also great with beef if you want that protein option. The dish looked somewhat simple, but man it was packed with a sweet, savory, umami flavor profile. The chicken pieces were all tender and juicy. The broccoli, carrots, celery, onions and shallots were all cooked perfectly and tasty stuff. The sauce was an oily type and so addictive. The garlic in it was so well blended and not overpowering either. The service was great, friendly and efficient. Hands down some of the best Chinese food around comes from this little gem and not the fake types that are very bland or so sugary, sour n salty without depth. The steamed beef / pork purse dumplings deserve to be called some of the best in the whole country imo and don't even need any dipping sauces, just bonuses. They even taste exactly the same with perfect taste / texture since my first time having them at 4 years old. I always pick up orders for my parents whenever I come here.
