Buffet pic- sushi and dessert selection
    Brooke K.

King Buffet has decent quality of food, the service is great, and the staff are kind. Their location is almost difficult to find. They're packed in a shopping district. King Buffet is bigger on the inside, so it's ideal for family gatherings. The price for the buffet is decent and the lunch hour rush varies each day. King Buffet has all kinds of Asian favorites, plenty of sushi for my brother to enjoy, and lots of desserts. For picky eaters, they have pizza, fries, fried biscuits, soup, and homemade bread. I loved King's Asian cuisine, except there were some unpleasant dishes I must address. Their pork dim sum was OK, but not the best. It had too much meat, and it was under seasoned. I would not recommend their chow mein, it was rancid! The dessert selection was very disappointing. Their cakes were terrible, dry and tasted artificial. The only desserts that were homemade was the banana pudding, soft serve ice cream, peach cobbler, maybe the jelly and hopefully, their almond cookies. If they're going to serve us excellent cuisine, they need to do the same with dessert. Next time I bring my family to King Buffet, I will advice them on what not to eat.

Decent sushi selection for a buffet
    Justin T.

King Buffet is a buffet anomaly. Buffets are usually not something we like to go to, but I was told they had a pretty decent sushi selection for a buffet. Reluctantly my family agreed to try the place out. It is a decent sized restaurant with the buffet smack dab in the middle. They have one section dedicated to only sushi. The place was packed for a week night, which to me suggested they have to have decent food. They had a good variety of sushi and plenty of it. I never saw a tray go empty. I started with sushi, and for a buffet, it was pretty good. Next I tried the Chinese food, which the variety was the same as almost any Chinese buffet around. Nothing to write home about. Overall a pleasant experience. Nothing I would go out of my way to go eat, but definitely a good option if you want to indulge in a Chinese buffet.

I've been coming here with family for years and even remember when this location first opened (see…read moreoriginal review from 2009). 888 Bistro has had its fair share of ups and downs and ownership changes over the years, but this was our first time back in about 2 years, so I was curious to see if anything's changed since our previous experience was not so great. We came on a Thursday night and there were only a few other cars in the parking lot. Dumpling World across the street had a fuller lot, so we were about to reconsider our choice, but decided to follow through with our original choice. Upon walking in around 7pm, there were a few other tables dining in. In case you didn't know, there are two menus here: an Americanized menu and a Chinese menu. Be sure to ask for both so that you get all the choices to select from! We ordered, the Honey Black Pepper Steak, Triple Delight Pan Fried Asian Noodles, Pork and Bamboo Shoots, and Sizzling Black Pepper Beef. The former two are on the Americanized menu and the latter two are on the Chinese menu. The Honey Black Pepper Steak has been my favorite dish here - it's deep fried pieces of beef coated in a black pepper sauce with a touch of sweetness...so good! The Pan Fried Noodles were crispy, but meat/vegetable to noodle ratio was a little off, as they could've put a good amount more of beef/chicken/shrimp on there. The Pork and Bamboo Shots and Sizzling Beef were both very tasty and hadn't changed from how I remember them. Our server was someone we recognized as having worked here for years. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name, but she's an expert here and knows the menu by heart. She constantly came around to check on us, and we were warmly taken care of. One thing I noticed was how adamant the staff was about watching your step as you get into and out of the booths. There are even signs on the tables and out the exit doors warning you to watch your step. Something must have happened here recently that caused them to take extra precautions (and make it known). This is a good local spot in Clear Lake that my family and I will continue to hit up for an easy dinner since there are not many Asian options in the area. The locations in Pearland and near Gulfgate are also worth trying (just know that some menu items may differ).

The interior is an old school setup and feels like an early 2000's Chinese takeout spot. The menu is all in English and mainly comprised of takeout favorites. We ordered a few dishes family style; General Tso's chicken, honey walnut shrimp, green beans, stir fried beef, eggplant etc. The dishes came with white rice. Most of the dishes taste like what you would expect, and the pricing is honestly pretty low for 2025; the portions are pretty decent as well. Not sure about authenticity either but it is Chinese American through and through. Definitely a decent spot for affordable late night dine in or takeout but don't be expecting super authentic dining or the best Chinese food you've ever eaten.

The sweet and sour pork was tasteless and almost tasted old and was tough. The dip for the egg roll was the same sauce for the pork. I tasted my husband's orange chicken and again, tasted leftover with no flavor. The server was very kind and I wish I could report better (on the food) but cannot. We paid the bill and left in search of a more suitable meal. Five star service, but no stars on the food.

I really enjoy their hot and sour soup and beef lo mein, and I tried the chicken pad thai for the first time today and it was delicious. The pan fried dumplings were so good. They were lightly crisped, not greasy, and had a fresh homemade taste and texture. I also love their cheese puffs. My husband always gets the egg drop soup and swears their hot mustard is the best. It clears his sinuses and has him nearly in tears every time, and I love watching his face turn bright red. Portion sizes are generous and the prices are great. The service is always super friendly and welcoming. Everything we have had has tasted fresh and made from scratch. The mix of price, quality, and portion is hard to beat, especially with everyone watching their budgets. It has become one of our go to spots.
