Chicken on Sizzling Platter
Mike C.

Great dinner tonight! Staff here is friendly and on top of things. Hometown feel with a nice atmosphere. Got the Chicken Skillet and the Triple Skillet (steak, chicken, and shrimp) Great for lunch specials or a dinner that will fill you up.

My husband and I came back to 888 to have lunch, this ordered spicy chicken dumplings, to die for! The service as always is pretty quick, and our server super helpful! Place is always clean. We also tried the shrimp and chicken curry, mellow and creamy, really good. We also ordered the Szechuan beef, I love this dish, is super flavorful, savory, crunchy, delicious! Both plates come with rice, so of course we had some white rice, perfect with both. And even took some leftovers home. Can't wait to be back.

One of my go to local chinese restaurant chains in the SE Houston area. They have your standard takeout style Chinese dishes but they also have more traditional Sichuan style dishes like the fried Sichuan jumbo shrimp, cumin beef, dry pot chili dishes, boiled Sichuan dish, etc. The quality of the food is great and and portions are excellent for the price. The various locations I have to been to in person are great for a sit down meal and service is prompt as well.

The part after pouring most of the sauce off.

This was our go-to restaurant when we lived here last year. We do not eat meat so we order vegetable dishes. They said no vegetable chow mien, however they said it can be made without chicken, so basically vegetable chow mien, right? WRONG! I got a quart size jar of more sauce than vegetables. I also ordered the sautéed mixed vegetable. Surprise, barely any sauce. So it poured the chow mien sauce over the vegetables, so we ended up with one dish that was not very tasty. So sad to see a great place hit rock bottom in less than the 8 months we were away. Also the Chinese red pepper and garlic sauce was on everything because they did not put the top on correctly. After we laddled 3/4 of chow mien sauce off the top of the container, there wasn't much left in terms of vegetables. ( See the photo, it shows the amount of the vegetables). What angered us was the fact it cost us 12.95 for the chow mien "soup". They lost our business and forced me to write this poor review so other vegans do not get ripped off like we were. They are not Vegan friendly.

TSO chicken is hard and stringy like lab chicken. It looked good but the chicken was hard and over cooked

Food was okay, I did take out. I think it's overpriced food for small quantity. Customer service was great.

Dear Wong's Asian Chef (The one on 518 -- not the other one…read morethat merely cosplays as you with thinner wings, smaller portions, and questionable life choices.) Remember me? Of course you do. My family and I used to live just a few hundred yards away in that subdivision. You'd see my number pop up and I know there was a moment of quiet respect in the kitchen. A pause. A nod. "Ah yes... the big order." You knew my name. The delivery drivers knew my dogs. The dogs knew the delivery drivers. There was harmony. I tipped well--especially considering the short drive. I like to think those tips helped cover gas, morale, and maybe a chapter or two of a kid's college textbook. You were part of our routine. Our tradition. Our emotional support takeout. Then... we moved. Far away. Outside the radius. I know. I know. It must've been hard. I assume there was a brief meeting. Maybe a whiteboard. Someone sighed. Dreams were recalculated. But I'm writing today with good news. We're back. Not as close as before--but close enough to smell the General Tso if the wind is right. Unfortunately, we are now approximately six tragic miles outside your official delivery radius. Which brings me to my proposal. Could we add a special rider to our phone orders? Nothing crazy. Just a small, unofficial, mutually beneficial understanding where: We always over-order We always over-tip No one speaks of this again And happiness returns to the universe I'm asking for a friend. Really. I do not need an intervention. I can stop anytime. But I miss the General Tso. And my lovely wife misses the wontons. And some cravings are bigger than geography. Warmest regards, Hopeful optimism, And exact change plus extra, That guy.

Their menu is extensive and genuinely interesting. We started with the steamed pork dumplings: handmade, tender, and really flavorful. Then we had the Cantonese Chow Mein with crunchy noodles, vegetables, tender meat, chicken, large shrimp, and scallops; so good and honestly addictive. We also ordered the Egg Foo Young, which came out as giant pancake‑style omelets filled with bean sprouts, pork, and shrimp, absolutely delicious. And their chili oil is excellent! super fragrant and adds the perfect kick. We definitely want to come back and try more dishes; the food feels authentic, fresh, and well‑made. Recommended.

After countless times coming, I've been meaning to make a review about this place. Everything in…read moretheir menu is something great, with some of my personal favorites being the Homestyle Trio with Eggplant, their Mapo Tofu (off menu, no gatekeeping), their Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup (a wee too spicy for me personally, but I love the simplicity of it), and the General Tso's Chicken. The eggplant dish mentioned is very rich and flavorful, with the eggplant cooked to be soft and almost mushy (but in a good way), nicely complimented by particularly the beef. Their lo mein is a little watery on various occasions, but still maintains a great and very nice flavor. Their fried rice is one of my favorites in the area and is always very well made no matter the time of day. The fried chicken wings, crab puffs, and crab bomber appetizers are both just such standouts in what is often an overlooked part of the menu by many restaurants. I have nothing but praise about how this place handles food. The staff is all really nice and welcoming from entrance to walking out the door. They are very good with order additions or food/allergy restrictions and the dishes always come out in a timely (but not rushed) manner, no matter whether it is a weekday morning or a busy dinner crowd. I'd recommend the lunch special for anyone coming around that time, as the deal of egg rolls, soup, and an entree or 2-3 sushi rolls for a low price is a steal. The ambiance nice for sure and the tables are clean, though I do sometimes get disoriented by the wallpaper they use (I think it's just me though). Whenever this place first opened, I was very disappointed in the restaurant. Meals were salt with a side of meat and rice and was just overall underwhelming. But now, it is one of my family's go to places whenever we need quality food in a short distance. Definitely worth a try, even over other restaurants in the area that serve a similar menu.

We started with the Pan‑Fried Pork Dumplings, delicious and surprisingly filling. For mains, we ordered the House Special Lo Mein and a Lunch Special that came with egg drop soup, fried rice, Szechuan shredded beef, and an egg roll. The soup was flavorful, thick, and nicely eggy. The fried rice was good, and the beef was tender and savory. The egg roll was also really good. The House Special Lo Mein, though, wasn't our favorite. The texture felt off, and the meat was colder than the noodles, so we couldn't really eat it. For a Chinese restaurant, the House Lo Mein is an important dish to get right. Overall, some hits and some misses.
