We got here just in time; about 10:50am on Sunday. There was 6 of us. It was about 80% full then a lunchtime rush hit. Servers were extremely busy and it took a little extra time, but our Crab King Shiu Mai, Chicken Fried Rice, Steamed BBG pork buns, Deep Fried Pork Puff, Steam Shrimp Rice Noodle, Steam Shrimp Dumpling, Chicken Claw Black Bean, Pan Fried Turnip Cake, Deep Fried Veggie Egg Roll and Steamed Custard Cream Bun were all reported as delicious. Ambiance is family and lively.

Went for Christmas lunch!! Food was very inexpensive and quality just as good if not better than Crown Seafood (our usual go to it was just too busy). Really great option- better than Golden dimsum and Fungs Kitchen imo. Very small restaurant so call ahead.

The food was better than I expected. The service was okay, very fast to get the food out, but never came back to ask how the food was or if I needed a refill on my beverage. The ambiance was very authentic, very small and quiet.

Ummmm well, there was a hair in my food. I ordered via third party for pick up so I was able to resolve the issue with them. Other than that, there are much better dim sum places in Houston just like the reviews said. The best thing I ate was the crab king shui mai, everything else was way too overpowering with the dough. On top of that when I went to pick up my food, it took a while for someone to even notice I was there and when my food was ready they placed it on the table instead of handing it to me....Weird behavior for an establishment that is subpar

We arrived here on a Friday after work and were seated right away. Nice clean place. You're given a sheet with all the dim sum and you just check off what your want. Price point Is a but steeper than other places. The congee with beef was perfect! The shrimp dumpling, fried crab and shrimp, short ribs in black bean sauce, yellow mung bean buns, sesame red bean balls, and Chinese broccoli were all deliscious and very flavorful. It was enough to feed 3 plus have leftovers. Aside from the slightly high price point, I would return and recommend to others to give it a try.

Oh my goodness - quite honestly the worst dim sum I've EVER had.... I've had good dim sum, also have had mediocre dim sum...but bad dim sum? This was certainly a first. My first time coming and I'm def not returning. We came in for a late lunch to a nearly empty restaurant. We ordered: -shrimp dumplings - mediocre -fried pork dumplings - TERRIBLY executed. the fried dough was SO heavy and oily. there was barely any meat inside. not even a spoonful. I'm not one to waste food but we did not finish this -chinese broccoli - ok, can't mess this up -pork dumplings - this took THIRTY minutes to come out....absolutely no apology/excuse from them. they must've given our order to another table that came after us. Get your dim sum elsewhere.

They didn't bring half of our order and we waited so long for it so we just told them to forget about it. The rations were hard. The dumplings were good. We had a few different dumpling orders and they were all good. The broccoli and oyster sauce was also good. Dining areas are clean and it's a nice place. It's popular so wait may be a bit for food.

We came to Chinatown to run some errands and ended up in this parking lot. We walked around saw this spot was busy and gave it a try. The restaurant is tucked in a weird alleyway and to your right side. The interior of the restaurant is pretty old fashioned and people and tables are packed in there like sardines. I'm sure it appeals to some people but I'm personally a bigger fan of personal space. Service was very slow; we waited at the front for 5 minutes before we got sat down. They don't have the dim sum cart here so it's order off the menu. We ordered a bunch off the menu; most of the items we ordered were below average and slightly bland and doughy. My least favorite was the fried taro balls. The BBQ pork noodles/doughy item was the best tasting. The pork ribs were alright but again, the flavor was bland. Their char Siu buns was very light on the meat and heavy on the dough. Everything else was a bit bland for me; it was below par compared to anything I've had at Fung's and I got told during lunch that HK Dimsum was better. Price wise, it wasn't cheap either by any means; $50 for a lunch for two... not impressed!

A solid dim sum place! Food was good but not mind-blowing. I wish they had lazy Susan's at the tables as it was mildly inconvenient sharing food with a large party. There's a lot of parking available.

In the heart of Chinatown, Dim Sum King has authentic food with all the classic flavors that make you want to come back. It's not as crowded as some other places and is my hidden gem that I love. Have to get the pan fried noodles and pork buns!

We love dim sum and found this place nearby. The food was nice and hot and most of it was pretty good. We liked the fried pork dumplings the most. My daughter loves crab but was not a fan of the steamed crab dumplings. The pork ribs were good but has a lot of tiny bones. The big fat noodles were a bit much for my mouth so take small bites The reason I'm giving 3 stars is for how we felt afterwards. We got sleepy and felt so tired. We had just woken up, got ready and headed here first. No reason to feel this way except for MSG or tryptophan like after thanksgiving.

I knew it'd be busy since it's a Sunday and Father's Day. But there were groups and groups of people standing outside and inside. I checked in at the kiosk and apparently there were 34 people ahead of us. I was starting to think we wouldn't be seated till at least an hour or so, but surprisingly we only waited for 20 minutes. The server and employees pushing the carts were all friendly. I'd be honest though, when we were first seated I felt like there were a bunch of carts, meaning lots of selection. But after 10 minutes, it was hard to even find one person. So really, you don't got much to choose from. I think it'd have helped if there was a menu at the table, that way we can order more and see what else is there. The shrimp shao mai and crispy shrimp crab claw was top tier. Please do not leave without giving those two a try! You can skip the pan fried pork & chives dumplings. That was a letdown. I think food wise, I prefer Fung's Kitchen over Ocean Palace. Majority tasted better and plus you get to experience the dimsum carts! However OP wins for conveniency: location and parking.

While I have not regularly come here as there are other options, if you are looking for a fancier, glamorous time for this type of cuisine (while getting high quality food), this is definitely the spot. This is a great place for weddings, business meetings, and milestone celebrations. I can't speak on their normal course of business, but I just came here for my aunt's 90th birthday celebration as well as a company dinner, which featured a delicious king crab prepared three ways. The service was very attentive in our private room settings and the food was good. It's really the ambiance that sets this place apart. One thing that really has always prevented me from coming here is the price. It is the most expensive in town and while there are plenty of options that aren't as good, well, there are options. And at this point, I'm sure that is the crowd they are going after. So if you are wanting to celebrate something or you are wanting to step up your dimsum game, come on over. I'm sure we'll be back for a large family gathering at some point.

Don't be fooled by its English name, you will not be eating Shanghainese food here: this is a traditional Cantonese restaurant. Service is friendly and the even though this spot is no frills, it is a familiar place with a very family-centered atmosphere. You can not go wrong with old reliable. We had eaten here years ago before the whole shopping center was remodeled. We arrived around 5:00 PM for dinner and were seated quickly. The food came out fairly quickly and was flavorful. It was four of us so we ordered: Hot & Sour Soup, Beef with Bitter Mellon, Beef Flat Rice Noodle (dry), Cantonese Sweet & Sour Pork (with pineapple) I was impressed how silky and tender the beef was. The sweet & sour was perfect lightly battered and crispy. The hot & sour could've been a bit more sour but had a small kick to it. It was perfect for my parents, but my husband and I had to add some chili oil & soy sauce for more flavor. The quality of the food 9/10, the price was a bit on the pricey side for the portions of the dishes. The hot & sour soup was $17! It wasn't anything special about it. I thought it was a bit steep for a family size, but I guess good service made up for it. I'm not sure if they were offering Chinese New Year specials, but within an hour there were several big parties with reservations. I recommend this place for authentic Cantonese Chinese food. It's rare to find good food and good service!

The mapo tofu is one of the best we've had outside of Bellaire with spicy, savory, numbing, and warmth that you expect from a good mapo tofu. Crispy popcorn chicken is a classic that's spicy, lightly fried, and crisp. It has an authenticity that other places around can't replicate and makes you keep craving more. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here.
