The people at Dumpling Time may have fooled all these uncultured people that have never had a dumpling in their life, but they haven't fooled me. Average-tasting food at best. Their most popular item - pan fried pork buns - did not have a lot of filling. They were overly greasy and small. High prices. Long wait for a server to come to our table. I had to get a server's attention just to be served. Minimal service provided throughout entire time. No utensils or napkins provided. No hand soap or toilet paper in the restrooms. Toilets were clogged. Restroom door doesn't have a door stopper, so it slams throughout the whole restaurant. They need to shut down the restaurant, get trained in customer service and restroom maintenance, and then reopen. Any enlightened person that has been to Houston's Chinatown will know the difference. Uncultured simpletons will love it. read more

We were really excited to see this place coming to town. We love good Chinese dumplings but would not risk our lives driving into Houston for them. Sadly, this place was not what we expected. We tried two different kinds of dumplings. They were OK, but the flavor was underwhelming, and they were small in size considering the price. My wife got the salt and pepper shrimp. I think she got maybe eight shrimp on the plate along with a huge mound of uncooked onions...not caramelized or even sautéed, but cold, raw onions with some oil on them as if the chef forgot to add them until the last minute. The onions were so acidic that they gave her a belly ache. I got the peppercorn chicken. It was obvious when the dish arrived that these people have no idea what peppercorns are. Instead of peppercorns, they put in diced fresh cayenne peppers. Now I like spicey food, but cayenne peppers are meant for seasoning a main course, not BEING the main course. The volume of cayenne peppers exceeded that of the chicken. I did manage to eat it, but I felt really bad for two days after. We will not be back. read more

The pictures in the google search are deceiving. The dumplings although good were not as large as portrayed. The rice is still not as fresh as it could be and it's my understanding the owners of Shogun own this place also so if you want reviews maybe visit that business page also. Stopped here after a long road-trip back to Houston and must say that this place is great! Ramona, our server, did a great job. A bathroom visit after a road-trip is a must, and theirs was clean. The dumplings were all very good, we tried quite a few of them including the steamed chicken dumplings, juicy pork dumplings which is pan fried and the beef and carrot dumpling which is from the steamed section but they looked a little different from the chicken ones. Newly opened business and they are already dialed in. I've been twice. The staff is really nice and the service is good. I had the Salt and Pepper Shrimp the first time and the Cumin Lamb the second visit. I love shrimp and the Salt and Pepper Shrimp was really good. However, the Cumin Lamb is so good I'm not sure I'll be able to order anything else other than the Cumin Lamb again. I just got home from the restaurant and I'm already figuring out when I'll be going back again. The Cumin Lamb has Red and Green Bell Pepper, Onion, Green Onion, Ginger and slivers of Garlic. The ingredients are fresh and so flavorful. It's so good. I just had the Cumin Lamb for the first time today and it's already in my top 10 dishes around the Houston area. Gotta say, this was a great surprise for my steak and Mexican food palate. Tried the hot & spicy pork bao and juicy pork buns and wasn't disappointed. Really glad this area is finally getting options when it comes to dining. Manager is awesome and spoke to everyone. They've really done a great job with the decor as well. Only thing that is misleading is the Soju they do not have any alcohol guessing due to licenses but they explained that in the future they will.
