This restaurant left a lot to be desired. I took a chance while I was in Baytown as I saw they had various locations around Houston. As we walked in the hostess/waitress looked at us and kept asking "what?" at least 4 times before she realized we wanted a table for 2. We were seated and we felt like we were inconveniencing the waitress as she seemed to not really want to be there at all. It felt like wanted to take our orders, and leave our table ASAP. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it did not seem like standard service. The "fresh" soup dumplings were so thick and chewy. Normally soup dumplings are supposed to be thin and delicate but these were the complete opposite. The beef noodle soup lacked flavor all around. I ordered it with wide noodles as the server told me they were around half an inch wide, my noodles came out and they were over an inch wide... which is not what I expected. The scallion pancake was the best item I had that night and that says a lot since it was probably frozen/pan fried. The poor service coupled with the food definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. Great experience even as we arrived just 40 min before closing. We chose more conventional Chinese dishes, beef with potato over noodles and beef with broccoli over rice. We also tossed in a sampler of steamed dumplings that were excellent. Our beef dishes were fresh and tasty. I came in on a rainy afternoon specifically craving a hot bowl of noodles, and Noodles Master did not disappoint. The broth had a deep, comforting flavor that tasted like it had been simmering for hours, and the noodles still had a nice bite to them. For starters, I'm not really familiar with this type of cuisine so, I couldn't tell you if it tasted "authentic" or not. I will say this based off of one visit though, I did not like the taste of this food. For starters, the braised beef soup simply tasted like beef broth, bland noodles and unseasoned beef. The orange and sesame chicken were decimated by an ultra thick bath of super sweet sauce. The cucumbers in the cucumber salad were marinated in something that I personally found off putting. This was one of those rare dining experiences that I honestly didn't enjoy one single item on the table. As I mentioned before, I'm not familiar with this type of food and I'm not sure if the food was supposed to taste this way, but I don't see myself returning and I can't recommend it to anyone. Really solid new Sichuan spot in Baytown! I am always on the hunt for new Sichuan food and this place did not disappoint. We ordered as many classics as you can think of Xia long bao (soup dumplings) was delicious and juicy. Came out fairly quickly as these usually take longer to cook and was definitely juicy as expected. Crispy chicken - delicious as well! It was pretty orange and the spice kicks in later so beware if you don't like too spicy food. It was still very crispy and the side of rice helps Beef noodle soup - this was okay, I wasn't totally wowed by the broth but a good change up if your looking for soup that's not pho or ramen Egg plant - I was disappointed in this one since I usually love eggplant. Not sure what it was but didn't love the flavor compared to others I've had Scallion pancake - solid, delicious, and crispy! There seriously needs to be a negative star review for instances such as this one! The manager of this place is so sweet and hard-working that it is a shame that her waitress, Andrea, is a complete disgrace. Food was ordered with an ingredient asked to be left off due to an allergy. She did not put it. The meal came out with the item included and mixed in, so it could not be removed. When I asked for a Togo bowl to put the food in, explaining it had the item in the dish, her statement was a giggle and "Oh ok." Nothing was said, and we got our food packed to go. Miriam, the manager, asked me what was wrong. I explained the situation, and she removed the item from my ticket and offered to make another dish. I politely told her no, that I wanted to get out of the presence of the rude, uncaring waitress, and she understood. When I walked out of the restaurant, she told Andrea that wasn't the way to handle a wrong order. Andrea chased my daughter and me out of the restaurant and said that I hadn't told her to cut the item, which I did because I was allergic. I responded, "Yes, I did because I am allergic." She replied, "Don't y'all ever f**$ing come back." As long as Noodle Master employs her, I will not go back. I do not want or need anyone so vile to serve my food or anything for that matter. As soon as I walked in I was impressed with the set up of the restaurant. Normally I wouldn't go to any food places in the shopping center where Noodle Master is located. It's run down and kind of.... ugly. But as soon as you walk in the restaurant is bright, nicely decorated, and (maybe most importantly) seems very clean. The staff was super sweet and timely. I love a good flat noodle so when I ordered the beef with potato noodle, based on the description, I thought that's what I would get. Although the noodles aren't what I expected, they were still really good! I was surprised to find the beef was so tender I could pull it apart with the chopstick! Whatever sauce is used on this dish is really good. Not overpowering at all but definitely has flavor. Yummy! My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken fried noodles. As we sat eating, we heard just about everyone who came in order the fried noodle in some kind of variation so it must be popular for a reason. Lastly (and not pictured) I got steamed pork dumplings. I wasn't super impressed with them. I wish I got a picture because they were huge and packed with filling. I'm not sure what it was that didn't impress me but the flavor just wasn't what I wanted. Hopefully, the beef was cooked fresh and not just heated up. I can't say for certain. However, it was tasty! The kitchen looked legit. It was really clean and seemed to have proper chefs with chef hats. The food seems pricey for what it is. The thing is, at $15 an entree, I felt as if I received twice as much food as any restraunt that charges $10 an entree. I think the value was great considering the huge portion sizes. The service could be better. I had to greet myself, then when I needed a to go box and the check, I wasn't sure if I paid up front or if they could bring it. I finally went to the counter and asked. They brought both to me. After I received the check, I eventually went to the front and paid. The whole time, two girls were laughing up front. I don't really care since it's a casual spot for me. I finally got my "fancy" ramen fix the other day! It was so good and you could tell that it was fresh. Their homemade noodles are exactly what you'd expect. The portion sizes were large. While what I ordered typically comes with a spicy chili oil mixed in, but I left it out of mine and it was still great! My wife ate the sesame chicken and I tried some of it! Unlike most Chinese restaurants, the chicken was good quality, moist, and not over-sauced! Even though we came in during the lunch rush, our food came out quickly and we never had to wait for anything. Our server was attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The Raman and the house special soups are all delicious. The spicy has yet to be spicy to my taste but to many of my friends it was hot enough. So try at your risk. The food was great! Awesome portions for sharing. The mapo tofu was to die for. I absolutely loved it. The tofu was soft and had amazing flavors with the pork. It paired perfectly with rice. I also wanted to note that it is very oily. The spicy wontons were also great. I would recommend them. As someone with a low spice tolerance, they were perfect. The broth was very deep. The wontons had good texture and flavor of meat inside. The beef noodle soup was good, just a little plain. They do give you an insane amount of noodles in your bowl though.
