I've yet to find the best Chinese food around Pasadena. It's amazing how Pasadena has had several good Thai , pho, and sushi spots popping up in the past couple of years. I usually choose sushi or Vietnamese because I know Chinese are mediocre around here., I sometimes I just get that Chinese food craving when I'm at the office. Coming from parents that used to have a restaurant makes me even more critical. The food is good for the portion, but the flavor and quality not so much pretty bland. It's been my go to a couple times since it's free delivery near my office when I need something quick and to carb up. It seemed to remind me of a mall fast food place. The portions are huge when you order the lo mein! If only it had a bit more flavor maybe lacking garlic and more green onions. I forgot to take a picture since my husband ordered it Lol. Just picture the huge Togo container boxers filled to the brim! The steamed dumplings appeared like they just threw them in the container all clumped together. I wasn't expecting 10 in presentation but at least have it somewhat neat in the container and spread out a bit more.. The shrimp are good in size and probably the most I've ever had in my shrimp dishes anywhere else. I'll continue my mission for the best Chinese restaurant in Pasadena.

I usually shy away from places where no one is eating there but not this time. Initially when I came in the owner was friendly quickly seated me and gave me time to decide on my order. I ordered salt and pepper chicken wings and pan fried noodles. The noodles came out first it was hot and looked appetizing but tasted a little different then usual. But it was decent nonetheless. When the chicken came out it was not WINGS it was boneless chicken pieces. I told the owner I ordered Wings which seemed to upset him. His response was "our salt and pepper chicken different. We don't do wings." I accepted that. I quickly went to try a piece and it was semi hot. I tried another piece it was lukewarm and overall did NOT taste fresh. I was not going to complain. I was simply going to box it up, pay the bill, and give it to the homeless. However, when about to pay the owner asked about how the food tasted. I expressed concern about the food not tasting fresh and then Helen being cold. He immediately takes the chicken plate off the table and proceeded to dispute with me the validity of my experience. He claimed "you let sit long time " and went on to say he watched the cooks make the food. I responded to him it's no big deal I will still pay for them but just thought you should know. In a highly elevated tone he says "no I will take off your bill but that's not true" then he spoke in another language pointing and still with an elevated voice to the woman at the register. Bottomline I was happy to pay for the food it was not a big deal. The owner offense to feedback that he asked for and preceded to yell at me the customer as if it was my fault. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and I will NEVER go there again.

I ordered food to be delivered. After eating half my order I realized there were bugs in the food! Totally grossed out and threw it out immediately. Yuck

I had been craving yellow chicken curry for a while and ran across the menu in our office so i figured i would give it a try and order my dept lunch for month end close. I am embarrassed and definitely not impressed and have never seen curry look slimey like this either. In fact i am scared to eat it as the chicken sure feels mushy as well. This is not even spicy. I had to look back at my order to make sure i didn't order something wrong. I work in the area and will never order again.

Can't wait to eat these rice noodles with pork. Yummy.....

Still great, a regular lunch stop for me. Close to work, quick, friendly and efficient service, and great food. My favorite is the Chicken Lo Mein for $9.95.

I had a friend recommended Yo Yo's Chinese Cafe, so I decided to give it a try. When I arrived, and found that Yo Yo's was in a strip mall, I was a little concerned. I started out with a sweet and spicy soup and it was good. Secondly, I had a egg roll and it was very good. The main course consisted of chicken, beef and fried rice. Sorry, there was no name, the waitress made it up and said they would spice it up for me. Everything at Yo Yo's is made to order and is good. While I was there, I noticed that the majority of customers were taking orders to go. I also noticed they deliver. When in LaPorte, give Yo Yo's a try. Go get Full

Place is kind of dirty. Food is not very tasty. There are better places for chinese food in the area.

Merlion was super busy yet the service was surprisingly attentive from the entire staff despite having to park several blocks over due to the crowd! He's been our waiter the last 5 or so visits regardless of when we come or what part of the restaurant we sit in, and he somehow manages to elevate the already fantastic experience we have. He's insightful on the menu without being pushy, remembers our unique requests, checks in on us without being too much, and strikes a great balance on engagement without intruding. I haven't been writing as many reviews as of late but Bryan's service had me dusting off the old digital keyboard. We walked in and were told to sit where we wanted and handed menus. They took our drink orders first and after bringing our drinks, they also brought us small bowls with a consume style chicken soup/broth. This was tasty, I enjoyed it. They took our orders a couple of minutes after as well. We started by getting 3 appetizers, the calamari, chicken satay and the dumplings. My friend ordered the Pad Thai (medium level spicy ness so maybe a 2-3?), and my other friend and I got the Maiasian fried rice box which comes with shrimp fried rice and a fried chicken cutlet on top. You can also choose your level of spice on this dish. My friend went with a 2 and I chose not to get it spicy as spicy food causes me stomach issues. After placing our order, our first appetizer came out in about 5 minutes and it was the calamari. I could see the seasoning on the breading, they looked tasty and some were fried crispier than others but nothing was overcooked. Upon first bite, the flavor was really good but the spice on them kicks in after you've ate it and they are HOT. I can handle a small amount of heat but these felt like a 5. Needless to say I only ate two. The chicken satay was my favorite of the appetizers, the dipping sauce is peanut butter forward which I loved because you get the saltiness right away along with that PB taste and the sweetness and mild spice come after. The cucumber provided with the satay was the cooling agent I needed to sedate the heat from the calamari. It was cool, refreshing and sweet. The dumplings were pork and shrimp and come with a soy dipping sauce. They were tasty as well, not the best I've had, but enjoyable. Seasoned perfectly. My dish, the Maiasian fried rice box was delicious! The shrimp are a nice size, fairly big, and my favorite vegetable in the rice was the broccoli. The chicken cutlet was fried perfectly too. I really enjoyed it and the one my friend got wasn't too spicy at a level 2. I'd say it was still pretty mild. I did get a taste of the Pad Thai and at a level 3 spice I'd say. It was sweet with that spice kicking in after. It was milder than I thought but over all still a good Pad Thai. After we finished eating, they brought us to go boxes since we all didn't really finish our plates. It was a lot of food and they also brought us these home made cookies with a chocolate frosting on them in the shape of a star. Not sure what kind of cookies these were, maybe sugar cookies I'd say, but they were DELICIOUS! If they would sell boxes of these to go I'd buy 2 or 3 of them hahaha. They were the best thing to end our meals with. I forgot to mention that our food came out pretty fast, and the kitchen is in the dining area so you can see, hear and smell the food being prepared. Aside from the sound of the chef cooking, the restaurant has a quiet ambience and I find it quite cozy. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. It's really a hidden gem.
