While in Baytown for a rotation, I decided to stop by Baytown Thai Kitchen for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is located in a strip mall plaza and the inside interior was cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are able to accommodate large and small parties, and it was definitely pretty busy for lunch on a Thursday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I decided to go with their lunch special which includes a soup, egg roll, and entree. For about $12 plus tip, I thought this was extremely fair. The pad Thai came out hot and overall had good flavor. I definitely had a lot of leftovers to take home afterwards. The soup and eggroll was also good, but the only thing I would say is that the eggroll had a lot of residual oil that was on the plate. The service here was truly excellent--everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. One of the staff members even brought us a complimentary glass of logan iced tea to try. It had a sweet tea vibe but was lighter and more refreshing--definitely worth trying if you're curious! My husband and I ordered two lunch specials: Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) and another variation of Pad Se Eew, both served with soup and an egg roll (which tasted more like a crispy Chinese spring roll). I especially enjoyed the soup--it had a flavorful balance of spice and sourness that was surprisingly good. As for the Pad Kee Mao, it was fine but not the best I've had. The noodles were slightly overcooked and clumped together, and it was missing tomatoes, which were listed on the menu and are something I personally associate with this dish. It also wasn't spicy at all. Instead, they offer a basket of condiments--chili oil, dry red pepper flakes, sriracha-like sauce, and some kind of soy-based sauce--to let you adjust the spice to your liking. While I appreciate the flexibility, I believe cooking the spice into the dish would've brought out more depth, aroma and flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The biggest downside, unfortunately, was the smell upon entering the restaurant. It had a unpleasant odor, almost like a plumbing issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm not sure if it was specific to the restaurant or something coming from the neighboring businesses in the strip center, but it was noticeable. Thankfully, when the food arrived, the aroma from the food helped mask it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All in all, I'd give the service 5 stars and the food 3.5 stars. Coming back from Orange, TX, my friend and I began to get hungry. We both agreed we wanted something Asian and being Thai is my favorite cuisine I needed to fill in a void that I was craving six months ago. I immediately looked at the Yelp and Google reviews that had 5 stars across the board! We came in on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was semi packed. Thankfully, we found a spot. The service was exceptional! Our waitress was a very sweet lady and she maintained her enthusiasm with a smile each time she served us. I wanted to tip her extra, but my friend had handled the bill. The food was where it's at! I ordered the green curry with tofu, my friend got the Massaman curry with chicken. The appetizer was fresh rolls with vegetables. The food was orgasmic good! Service was excellent, we were greeted immediately with a warm welcome and seated. Waitress was knowledgeable of the menu items and answered any questions. Appetizers were dumplings and samosas, both very good. The pastry on the samosas were tender and flaky with a very yummy filling. I ordered the Prik King with chicken and shrimp, level 2. I just found my favorite new restaurant (new to me, anyway)! Got there in time for lunch menu. So many options for vegetarians! I got the lunch pad thai with tofu and added veggies. It came with tom yum soup (yum is right!) and a delicious crispy egg roll (veggie). I've never liked sweet and sour sauce before, but theirs is perfect. Service was excellent (2:30-3:00, but there were 2 other tables). Friendly and helpful, service with a smile! The blackberry cinnamon tea was so refreshing. I ordered my food to be picked up. I would dine-in if I had the time. It seemed like a place I could have a conversation without having to raise the volume of my voice. There was a small group that dined in as I picked up my food. The lady at the counter allowed me to add a to my drink order. I ordered a Thai green tea with boba. I would order a pick-me-up drink here on a whim, even if I didn't order an entrée. I ordered the yellow curry with a squid salad. The squid salad is very forward with the fish sauce. I am not sure if this place has a papaya salad, but if they do, I would order that instead with added squid. read more

The first thing I noticed was that the service was excellent. The server immediately went up to me and was open to questions. They were extremely nice and allowed me to try the green Thai tea which was very good. The design of the restaurant was also nice with good seating, beautiful decorations, and open enough to not feel cramped. The food was delicious and plentiful with its portions of meat and vegetables. I ordered the yellow curry and my brother ordered the duck curry.
