It was my first time visiting at Dumpling The Noodle. Sunday afternoon and it was not too crowded. We were seated pretty quickly. Service was quick but staffs are rather just dropping off your food and cross out off from the order sheet. No recommendation from staffs or friendly comments. Foods were pretty good. We didn't try any noodles. Dumplings were ok. I prefer Din tai fung or Dough zone. I will probably comeback to try more dishes. A half duck was pretty good. My favorite was cilantro spicy beef. Came here on a weekend afternoon and it was fairly busy. My husband and I decided to order a variety of different things to share. We ordered the following: pork onion buns, pork shrimp wontons with spicy sauce, pork chive shrimp dumplings, bulgogi beef dumplings and the chili beef lamen. I really enjoyed the wontons in the spicy sauce and thought it was very flavorful. I liked all of the dumplings because it had a little broth in the dumplings and they tasted handmade. We came in on a Saturday evening at around 6:30pm and were fortunate to be seated immediately for a party of two. This place is located in the Wallingford area on a street corner on N 45th. SIGNATURE PORK ONION BUNS ($9.75) - Because the ratio of bun to meat was on the bigger side, there's a lot of empty space inside the bun. This made grabbing them with chopsticks a little difficult. As a result, you end up popping the exterior and the juices inside come out. That's what happened on all four of our buns and it became a soggy mess. Taste wise, I thought these were just okay. 3/5 PORK SHRIMP WONTON WITH SPICY SAUCE ($9.75) - I felt like the flavor for the wonton meat was lacking a bit. The chili oil was also not spicy or flavorful. I found myself drenching the wontons with more chili sauce in hopes that it would add more spice to no avail. On top of that there were some parts of the wonton wrapper that weren't as cooked so parts of them were harder to chew. These were pretty underwhelming. 2.5/5 CHILI THE BEEF LAMEN ($14.95) - They also have normal rice noodles but the lamen noodles are hand-pulled. I liked the chewiness of the noodles and there was a good portion of meat on top. I liked the flavor of the sauce but it was also not super spicy. I used the table's chili oil on top which helped but the flavor was again lacking. 3.5/5 Overall I felt like all the dishes were just missing flavor and spice. I'm not even saying that it needs to burn my tongue and make me chug water but they all lacked the spices that I would expect in dishes that have spicy or chili in their names. We utilize the $50 srw deal and added the signature buns as a side. The SRW deal include: Chicken corn dumplings - my favorite, it has a nice crunch at the bottom, the skin is thick, the flavor was really good. Beef bulgogi dumplings - pretty good but on the sweeter side for my taste Jajang beef pancake roll - flaky, crunchy, a little salty Beef lamen --- it was ok, I wanted more noodle but there's definitely more beef which is probably or is more preferred by most. My son loves Peking duck so we had to come by because the reviews about the duck here are fantastic. The duck did not disappoint! Crispy, well cut, lots of meat and skin. We ordered the whole duck and it was enough for our family of 4. It's presented beautifully. We had to order 2 extra sides of pancakes but it was well worth it. The pancakes are small and thin, a bit chewy but in a bouncy good way. The whole duck was $68.50, is that the market rate for duck now? It was worth it though. We got the kale with sesame sauce, spicy pork wonton, pork onion buns, and beef pancake. Everything was delicious! What wasn't so great was the service. The servers are really just glorified food runners. They don't really check on you or interact with you, even when taking your order because you mark your order yourself on a paper. The only one that did check on us was the host, who came to refill our water once the dinner rush subsided. No one is mean or rude, just not much service in general. Also, I made a reservation on Yelp but it was more like call ahead seating, because we still had to wait. It's a tiny establishment. Not sure if the other location is the same. We got street parking easily. We would definitely return for the food, but not at dinner rush time. Also the water is served in metal cups which makes the water taste weird. Was looking to try out a dumpling restaurant and remembered hearing about Dumpling The Noodle from some friends! I saw some photos from Yelp and Google, so my friend and I were excited to check them out! The first thing we noticed as soon as we came in was how nicely decorated the interior of the restaurant was, which we weren't expecting judging on the exterior of the restaurant. For food, we ordered three different dumplings including a fried version. We had also ordered pickled cucumbers as a side vegetable. I was super excited to try this place because I love dim sum. Once you walk in, it's really cute and modern, but there's a very odd smell that's not very appealing. I think it may be the building itself. They were busy so service was mediocre. We ordered the crispy wontons (our favorite dish), the spicy chicken, chicken and corn dumplings, and the rice garlic noodle dish. The crispy wontons were super flavorful and gingery. They were delicious. The corn and chicken dumplings were pretty good but nothing too exciting. The spicy crispy chicken dish was extremely breaded and fatty. It was hard to find actual chicken in them, and the chicken I did find tasted a bit odd (sort of old tasting). The noodles were very disappointing because I love noodles and was super excited about them. However, they came up super over cooked and mushy. The noodles would dissolve when put in the mouth. I've dined-in here a few times in the last year and I've enjoyed the meals. From ordering and food coming out, the whole process does take a while but the servers are always so nice and pleasant. The dishes also have very similar names so be aware that there are subtle nuances to each line item that are listed. Might be worth asking your server if you're ordering the right thing. I highly recommend the soup noodle dishes but have also really enjoyed the smaller side dishes. I do find it interesting that the beer comes in non glass vessels which might be off putting at times but other than that I have liked my meals for the most part here. read more

I've heard of Dumpling The Noodle as a good place to go and try some delicious dumplings and noodles (hence the name!) so we decided to pay this location a try! We went on a Saturday around noon (~1pm) and were seated promptly. I got the Chili Beef Noodles and the Pork and Onion Buns, which I'll review down below: Chili Beef Noodles: The noodles were doughy, hearty, and had a nice chewy texture and soaked up the sauce well. The chili oil that covered the noodles wasn't really spicy, but had good chili flavor. The beef was tender and mostly flaky, which mixed well into the chili sauce in the noodles. There were some pieces that were a bit on the drier end but overall a delicious plate of beef noodles. Pork and Onion buns: These buns were filling, the dough was fluffy and slightly spongy with a little bit crispy bottom. The filling was moist and soft but didn't really taste as much onion - the filling was mostly just straight pork, which I still enjoyed. In the end, spent about $28 for everything you see here - which I thought was an alright price for the amount of food you receive. If I'm ever in the Freemont area, I would definitely like to revisit and try the other options that Dumpling the Noodle has to offer! read more

Solid dumpling and noodle spot in Wallingford, with a few standouts and specialties that set itself apart from other dumpling places like Din Tai Fung or Dough Zone. It was not busy when we arrived for Sunday lunch. We tried the following dishes: Kale in sesame dressing: very fresh kale; I like the sesame dressing and it has just the right amount. Great healthy appetizer choice JaJang beef pancake roll: traditionally uses hoisin sauce, though the sauce here is a bit more subtle. There is a generous amount of beef that is fairly tender, and some cilantro and cucumbers. This is decent but I have had better, especially given the price. This was cut in half so if you have more people, it may be harder to split. Chili the beef lamen: lamen noodles are a signature dish here, so we decided to give it a try. Noodles were chewy and firm, though there are clumps of noodles that were not separated well. It was not really spicy, though they give a lot of sauce for this dish. The beef used is like the beef used in the pancake roll. Pork chives shrimp dumpling: we got this pan-fried. It was juicy and flavorful, though there are a bit too much chives compared to pork and shrimp. Qin Dynasty: cocktail, fairly well priced at $10, though it was not super strong as the alcohol is soju-based (Jinro). It has some yuzu and lime which are my favorite citrus. I mostly ordered this as it is placed in a pretty, well-designed cup that is fairly unique. Overall, food is pretty solid, though there were some misses which were not too okay given the price point. Sichuan spice is great for flavor and not just numbing. Really love the seasoning for the protein. Sichuan green beans - wish there was an option for garlic and Sichuan and not either/or. We also got the signature pork onion bun, which was also pretty tasty but they looked pretty beat up (all four of them were either dented or had holes in them) and the bottoms were super thin. They were pretty good, but not exceptional IMO and I think my mom makes better ones (but not everyone has a great chef as a mom :P). The two noodle dishes were a little disappointing. There was only a few pieces of shrimp/tofu in the dish (maybe 3-4 in each?) and they both had a weird sour flavor that threw us off, but that could've just been the personal preference of our party. The tofu in the Garlic Tofu Lamen was quite bland, but the shrimp was well cooked and juicy! However, the noodle textures of both dishes were exceptional, very chewy/bouncy! Overall, my experience at this place was a little underwhelming. I liked both dumpling dishes but was definitely a little disappointed with the quality of them and the sour flavor of the noodles. After 2 years, they're finally open for dine in! This is huge news. Have been waiting to try this spot but wasn't interested in the takeout experience so glad to say I had the opportunity to partake in the dine in experience. For starters, this place is on par with Dough Zone even in terms of quantity, quality, and value. With that being said, I like it more than DTF. The staff were extremely happy, friendly, and welcoming. They're just as excited that dine in is available as the customers are. Now I'm not sure why the noodles are getting all the love in the reviews. When I was looking, lots of reviews raved about the noodles and said the dumplings were mediocre. If anything, it's the opposite. The dumplings here were amazing, the filling is perfect, and they're even slightly sweet with their sauce. The noodles aren't bad either, but I think the spotlight deserves to be on the dumplings. I'd love if the noodles were wider (we originally thought they were based on the pictures) but they're still tasty. The downside is that the menu is fairly small. This means there's not a variety to select from like select other dumpling spots. They've also just re-opened so this may expand in the near future. They also aren't selling their boba right now which they had in the past, but I'm not sure when they got rid of it so it may be gone for good. Lastly, there isn't any huge spice here as the chili sauce lacked spiciness, but select dishes have some heat. Should've taken menu pictures since it is a little different than the ones on Yelp, but didn't think that far ahead. Pork Wonton in Chili Sauce - the filling was super good but the outer skin was a bit firm. I figure it was probably an outlier and they don't intentionally have the rougher skin so hopefully next time it's better. Regardless, still amazing and delicious with a flavorful filling. Spicy Beef Lamen in Chili Sauce - I wish the noodles were wider and beef was bigger but the flavor was good. This dish had a hint of spice to it unlike the others. The beef was shredded so harder to pick up but tender. Signature Pan Fried Buns - super soft and fluffy baos. Overall much like a Q Bao but the bottom isn't pan fried that much. It's a little half effort of a pan fry so the entire bao is still fluffy and the crispiness is negligible. Inside was great though. Bulgogi Dumpling - probably the perfect dumpling, soft and sweet too. The sauce really hit different. It would be enhanced with chili oil though, so order a dish with chili sauce to work with. read more

I got the vegan pan fried dumpling, bokchoy dumpling, chicken and corn dumpling (my fav), jajang beef pancake roll, pork bun, shiitake bun and chili the garlic tofu lamen! Everything was superb! My favorite dumpling had to be the vegan dumpling and chicken and corn! Very generous with the filling though the skin was slightly on the thicker side. And that noodle dish, man! Over the months/years it's been one of my go to places. I got the chilli tofu garlic lamen - made with flour noodles and a delicious sauce. The flavour is very different from other noodle places I go to. I also got the shiitake steam buns where are so so good! And the vegan wonton in chilli oil. A decent spot for Chinese food in Wallingford. My favorite item here is the pork and onion buns. The filling is great and the bun has such a nice sear to it. I also ordered the chili the beef lamian. The beef in the noodle was good and kind of reminded me of my parents cooking and the noodles had good texture. However the sauce felt excessive and the sauce to noodle ratio was on the much higher side, so it felt over saturated. I don't remember the sauce being this heavy last time I ordered take out here several years back. But otherwise, this is a solid spot. We went in at 2.30 pm on Sunday for a late lunch and find the ambiance very comfortable. We order beef rice noodles , pork & chive dumplings , spicy green beans which is superb. The peking duck is abit of a disappointment, NOT THE TASTE , it is tasty but many pieces of meat and crispy skin is not cut thru. I can dangle it on a string like yo yo. The pan cake is also stick solid together that we have to peel it piece by piece . Your nice Filipino server took it to show the kitchen staff to slice properly but came back with some still stick together. We don't go there to work our hand and disrupt our lunch.
