But yesterday was the first time I ordered from here during the pandemic - They were good with PPE practices but you do have to go inside to pay but they open the door for you so you don't touch anything. I did have a problem with the quality of the food this time around. I got the $13 Mongolian beef dish and there was very little beef and the dish was mostly grilled onions. The beef was also the lowest quality beef I had gotten from this place. not a bad place located next to bavarian grill across the street from target. interior is nice and they have a wide selection of options to choose from. obviously they specialize in dumplings, but they have lots of other dishes as well. you can get the dumplings steamed or fried, i think frying costs like a dollar more or something. In my opinion, the dishes are a lil on the pricey side but the price reflects how nice the interior is. we ordered a bunch of the dumplings, including the baja fish, shrimp and tofu, pork, and chive filling. All were alright; i think they're known for the baja fish filling (fish paste, but not bouncy like fish balls) which had more flavor than the rest. The shrimp and tofu filling dumpling wasn't bad and not as heavy as the ones with meat filling. the rest of my family really enjoyed the chive pockets, and their salt and pepper fried calamari was tender and nice and spicy. staff is very kind and informative. 3 stars because the food was alright and a little expensive, but staff is friendly and the interior is clean and comfortable. worth a visit if you're searching for some chinese comfort food. read more

I can not keep laughing after reading the above reviews. It is true! The service is horrible. We waited for at least 40 min. Everything we ordered was their famous dish. In the end we have to wait another 10 min for the check. The Resteraunt is just half full. I walked up to the cashier to pay myself. I did not want to leave any tip just to tell them my anger. This place is a hidden gem. I have eaten here 10+ times over the last year and I have never been disappointed. The food is always cooked to order and super fresh! This is my second time visiting Dumpling House and my friend and I ordered 2 different steamed dumplings and an order of steamed beef buns. The dumplings are pretty good, not soup dumplings but theres a good amount of moisture in them and they taste pretty good. But the buns... I dont know what went wrong. They were soggy, and the beef filling was flavorless and tasted slightly off. We couldn't even finish one of them. When I mustered up enough courage to tell our server, she asked for a reason that we didnt like them and another worker came over and literally laughed at as as if we didnt know what we were talking about. The steamed Goubuli buns are stellar, but I am not returning to this restaurant until it hires more staff. For how busy it is and how large the restaurant is, Dumpling House needs to hire more waiters and actual busboys. Right now, there are 2-3 waiters that are in charge of everything, which is not efficient. For all I know, they may even be the ones going to the back and making the dumplings, too! I also do not appreciate the blanket statement that they use after we get seated each time. "All orders will take a long time, because there are a lot of people here." That is not acceptable. I am definitely give a 5 start to this warm dumpling house. My friend bring me some pork bun(Gou bu Li) before. I was surprised I never eat some bun like this one taste so good. This time I drive stop by. They have really nice and clean environment. They don't have any piece of mass on the floor. The decoration and the decal printing on the window is beautiful. I love waiting here for my to go with nice music and a cup of tea. The outside bun skin is soft and the meat inside is tender and juicy. The put a lil too much green onion inside the Gou bu Li,but still good. They have different option for the bun which is leak vege bun, pork cabbage bun. I love Gou bu Li and leak bun is the best. I also like steam pumpkin shrimp dumpling and steam beef onion dumpling. They have too many option for buns and dumpling. And also the noodles. I will try some noodle next time. Food here is amazing, one of the best Chinese food here in Plano. Yes, I know that's a tall claim. I rate restaurants based on 4 things, consistency, flavor, freshness, and value. Bonus point for creativity and service. This restaurant has some of the freshest food and best flavor around here. And everytime I come here it's good. So far nothing I ate taste close to being as good, and I eat out A LOT. Value wise it's good because the price is fair for the amt of food you get. Service is what everyone complains about. I understand that. I also understand that the restaurant industry has tight margin and it's hard to manage payroll. I used to love to this place for its authentic northern Chinese food. My favorites are salted duck, goubuli bun, fish dumping and green onion pancake. We used to rank it number one in northern Chinese food, but not anymore. It is more like American Chinese food now. Very disappointing. Don't go there if you look for authentic northern Chinese food. I have had most places that deliver in Plano and sat down at even more but I have yet to have the amazing flavors I experienced tonight. Started with two spring rolls, they were hot - for a while. But sauce they bring with it and flavor of the contents were fantastic. Girlfriend ordered combination fried rice, said it was the best she has had as well. Ordered some pork and shrimp steamed dumplings. Those were amazing. The sauce for those was a sesame oil base(guess) with shredded ginger. Loved it. Service was fast. We didn't have the greatest experience here this past Saturday (2/27). I'll start off by saying that our waitresses were friendly, but the overall service/timing was just terrible. We arrived around 630PM with about 4 open tables (no other parties waiting) and they made us party of two adults, one child stand there waiting - I understand that two of the tables are for large parties of 6+ but there were two other tables that seat four. Thankfully, the manager came by and told the staff to seat us at one of the smaller tables. Here's where things went south. We ordered four dishes (ghouboli, beef pancake, dumplings, vegetables). It took TWO HOURS for 3 of the 4 dishes to come out at 845PM. As soon as we got our dishes, we had to pack it up to go with our little child exhausted. We had to go get our own to go boxes. The chef/kitchen really needs to work on timing. Oh yeah, we also got to witness a shouting match between the manager and another customer - not sure who's fault it was but let's try not to shout and swear in front of customers/children please. Yes, the mgr gave us a whole $3 off our bill (sarcasm)...but does that really make up for our experience (no)? Takeout seems to be quicker as we saw people coming in to order and getting their food to go in about 10-20 minutes. This is an update to my original review. I've eaten here about ten times over a period of six months, and the food is always consistently good; that is why I keep coming back. However, service at times has been hit or miss depending on who I get. There is a woman who has served me several times in the evening, and she is very professional and consistent in knowing the menu well, and offering alternatives to me. There are also several young men who serve, and service is different. Tonight, one of them seated me at 8:40 pm on a Monday evening, and the first words he said to me were, "we are closing soon, so this is last call." While he was attentive during my meal, I found his attitude to be unprofessional, given that the restaurant closes at 9:30pm. He said the same thing at 9:10 pm, asking if I wanted anything else, since they were closing in 20 minutes. I felt like he was more concerned about closing down than what I wanted to eat. I understand he was probably tired or had other plans, but he needs to focus more on giving good customer service, rather than attending to his needs. I was well aware of the time, even before I sat down, and planned on making sure I was finished well before 9:30pm. I also asked for Chinese mustard in the packets, and he acted like he had no clue what I was asking for. This has happened on more than one occasion. If management is reading this, please train your staff better in providing more consistent customer service, along with knowing the menu better. read more
