We ordered the xialongbao, szechuan tantan noodles, shrimp & pork spicy wontons, stir fried green beans, spicy & crispy chicken and of course we had to try the duck so we ordered the half duck with duck broth soup. The soup was perfect, tasted good and was good to start off the meal. The half duck with the toppings was so delicious! The duck was perfectly cooked and the skin was crunchy and tasted great! The stir fried green beans were perfection, and the spicy & crispy chicken was amazing but definitely had a kick to them! Everything we got was fantastic and would get it all again. The service was great and easy to get a hold of staff with the button on the table. The ambiance was lively and nice. We went to Duck & Dumpling mainly for the Peking Duck. We ordered a full duck and they brought out half at a time. The duck was juicy, pancakes were decent, and garnishes/condiments were nice. I didn't think it was mind-blowing delicious, though. Green beans were the best dish of the night as I kept going back for more. Dumplings were plump and filling (Curry Potato Dumplings were interesting). Spicy Chicken got spicier as you eat it but not up front. used to be bamboo house, but they really pared their menu down a BUNCH to just mostly serve....duck and dumplings. we ordered...duck and dumplings lol!!! as someone who doesn't usually like peking duck, this was not bad. Skin was crispy and served with all the fixings (crepes at this place). I wish the duck was slightly warmer, but bonus is that you don't have to call and reserve the duck in advance. Also comes with a soup, which was my favorite duck soup that has been served on the side at other peking duck restaurants. This soup was clear with napa cabbage, duck bones and tofu. Really refreshing and cleansing. Loved eating it with scoops of plain rice. We also got pan fried bottom mini pork dumplings, which were alright. I'm used to a bigger dumpling with more soup (this was also not that hot, kind of lukewarm). Price was kind of high for how small the portion size was. Since Tian Tian moved to Austin, there are a few peking duck places popping up in plano. I havent tried lu lu modern yet but their duck looks bigger than this place. I ordered half a peking duck, described for 3 on their menu. That fed one person. It was not enough, unsure if they didnt give me half because it looked a lot less than half. Maybe it can feed three if you ordered other food but thats misleading. Service was also slow, I called to go order and they said it would be ready in 10-15 mins, I waited for 25 mins. Half a duck came with soup, scallion, duck sauce, pancakes, and cucumbers for $34. Update: looking at other pictures of half duck. I know for sure they did not give me half a duck. I had five pieces of meat. I reached out to them on instagram and they asked me to come back so they'll cut half a duck in front of me to prove they didn't rip me off. First of all, don't gaslight me. You gave me less on Friday judging by what other people got. If I come in, you'll just cut an actual half a duck and make me pay for it again then I can't say you gave me less before. It doesn't prove that you didn't give me less before. Update after the business owner rude respond. Between the two of us, the one insulting is you the business owner. You need to learn how to customer service. Let me stoop to your level and treat you the same way you treat your customers. If you're able to count right, skin does not count as meat. I had to get bowls, to-go containers and bags on my own because they were taking too long. The food was really good though! I've been meaning to stop by this place for quite some time! We decided to drop by on a Friday evening. The restaurant is pretty large and has 2 dining areas. By the time we were leaving (around 6:45 PM), both areas were pretty full. Service was quick and friendly. I loved that there is a button on the table to request your server! It makes things so much quicker and convenient. The food was good! My husband and I ordered the half duck (comes with complimentary duck soup), pork soup dumplings, and string beans with minced pork (comes with 1 bowl of rice). Overall, we liked every dish. The soup dumplings were really good. The duck was okay, but it was a bit too fatty for me personally and did not have as much flavor as I'd like! The thin wraps (pancakes) stuck together, and I wasn't sure if it was because it wasn't fresh or if it wasn't prepared properly. We came here (party of 2) at 5pm on a Sunday. We were very excited since we loved Bamboo House, which is what Duck & Dumpling took over. Service was quick and polite, no complaints there. However we sadly were disappointed with the food. The duck was okay taste wise, but some texture issues - much too fatty, skin not crispy enough, and definitely skimped on the portion side. Previously we could order the half duck with surplus meat so we'd (happily) order more pancakes. Today the duck amount was visibly smaller than before, and we ran out of meat quickly. We also ordered the shrimp and pork wonton soup (not pictured) and the pan fried soup dumpling. The "soup" tasted like boiled water with a dash of soy sauce, and the wontons themselves strangely tasted like nothing, definitely some of the worst wontons we've had. The pan fried bao made up for the previous dishes. These were crispy on the bottom and had plentiful soup inside, so I enjoyed them. Overall this was a 3/10 experience if you're familiar with peking duck. so we sadly will be looking for another spot that offers the taste we're looking for. read more

This is just Bamboo House rebranded. Their domain name is still the same. I don't know what happened with their duck, but it's the worst one I've ever had. The color is completely off and this weird pale yellow shade. The skin wasn't crispy and it was really oily. The portion was also smaller. We've gotten the full order of the Peking Duck a few times and always had plenty leftover. Now with the name change, we barely had any leftover. You're also limited to half a duck if 3 people and under according to the blurb on their menu. The bok choy and mushrooms is not worth it. The mushrooms are completely different from before (whole vs now sliced) and the bok choy had thick chunks of the stem still on it. They also push their membership on you that's supposedly free. When paying, they make you do it on the tablet as they hold it so you get to awkwardly select a tip as they watch. Waste of money and definitely not coming back. read more

This is the resturant that took over Bamboo House in Plano and they offer a range of Peking duck, a few stir fried dishes, hand pulled noodles, and dumplings. We were greeted and seated fast despite it being a Saturday which was nice. The menu is simple with more focus on the duck and dumplings. The food was all good, we had the crispy chicken, pork and shrimp spicy dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, and egg and tomato hand pulled noodles as well as the whole Peking duck. All of the dishes came out really fast with the exception of the duck which came out last but it was worth the wait. I loved that they sliced the duck and had them on warmers plus they were served with pancakes. Overall my family and I had an enjoyable experience. They ran out of a lot of items like the Peking duck which was the whole reason why we came. I also saw that they reserved the rest of the duck for some of the staff to eat. I see that they care more about feeding themselves than making business successful. The shop had an hour before closing and all they cared about was eating first while we were waiting to close out our tabs and grab to go boxes. The new ownership/management needs to improve and set their staff priorities correct. The interior was well decorated and was pretty busy though there was a wait and plenty of tables not being used. Not that we have a lot of choice. For someone that has been to beijing numerous times , tasted most of the popular one in beijing , I clearly know what is considered a good one. I compared this with previous Tian tian and bamboo house. (Both is no longer in operation ) . This duck is still the worst along all. The skin is not crispy, the duck meat was not marinated enough , the dark sauce use is just not of the right taste. This is clearly an Americanized version. They even provide honey mastard to go along with the Peking roast duck. 3. The soup dumpling and pan fried dumpling is ok. Average or slightly above average. 4. The egg plant braised pork noodle is surprising nice. My personal favorite along all. The noodle seems to be hand pulled. Nice texture and springy. Just that the noodle is extremely oily. Good to share with 1 or 2 others. They offered 15% discount for Google or yelp review which I didn't take. Minus one star for calculating tip post tax. (These vendors need to stop doing this) A meal costing just under $90 end up with about 25$ tip if one chooses 18%. Service staff was attentive and courteous but please let the customer to choose how much they really want to pay on tips. Not 28% worth of service. Minus one star for some of the food. This is our 3rd time coming here. Cucumber is with a weird sour and sweet sauce, not traditionalauthenticway of doing it. Pan fried soup bun supposed to be signature dish but this time was undercooked. Calamari is not what one would expect, very chewy and flavor less. Not recommended. The duck is okay, nothing extraordinary. And why the stingy portion of scallions. How much is that? 30 cents a bunch? The free duck bone soup this time tasted very salty. What's worth to order is beef soup noodle but the beef cubes were air dried. Didn't even bother to boil the beef in the soup. Plus the noodle is not that much. As a former Bamboo House fan, I was skeptical and a little nervous to try Duck & Dumpling after reading a few reviews and seeing the shortened menu. That said, I decided to go in with the idea that this is a new restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered based on their new namesake, a half duck, pork soup dumplings, and beef and onion potstickers. The duck was solid and tasty as usual. Portion felt pretty similar if not same as before. Beef and onion potstickers were a surprisingly good choice as well. But the soup dumplings (which I'd never ordered at Bamboo house) were actually pretty impressive. It's in the running for my favorite soup dumplings in Dallas for sure. Overall, everything I had was well executed and even impressive. The duck was the one thing I'd ordered before at bamboo house and it was consistent with my previous experiences (great!). Am I going to sorely miss the Sichuan classics and heaping portions? Oh yeah. But is this a really really good duck and dumpling place? Definitely yes. If you're looking for what Bamboo house was, go elsewhere (as will I). But I will definitely be back when I crave duck or soup dumplings :) read more

Came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. We ordered the Peking Duck, Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), and Dan Dan Noodles, and all three dishes were solid. The Peking duck was nicely roasted with crispy skin and flavorful meat. The soup dumplings had thin wrappers and plenty of soup inside -- very satisfying. The Dan Dan noodles had a good balance of spice and savory flavor, not too oily and not overly salty. Food came out fresh and hot, portions were reasonable, and service was friendly. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, good for both family meals and small groups. Overall, a great spot if you're looking for classic Chinese dishes done well. Finally was able to try this place out since it changed names/ownership. This restaurant used to be Bamboo House, one of my favorite spots to come to for Chinese cuisine. For the most part everything looks the same inside and out from before. Obviously staff is different, and the menu. They still use some of the same dishes with Bamboo House logo for the duck. The menu is significantly smaller than before; mainly offering just duck and dumplings. There are a few other dishes too. I really had some fan favorites I loved if you read my original post from Bamboo House; and am really sad they're gone. Service here is good. My friend and I came and ordered the half duck, passion fruit cucumbers, pork soup dumplings and the pork and shrimp spicy/sour dumplings. Cucumbers I did not like at all; basically it's a passion fruit sauce tossed in with the cucumbers. That combo was not a good one for me; too overly sweet with not a balance of salt. The pork soup dumplings were very good; broth was tasty as well as the filling. They however didn't bring the dumpling sauce with the onions. Unsure if they forgot, I also didn't ask because I just made my own with what was on the table. The spicy/sour pork and shrimp dumplings were interestingly good. I liked the spicy/sour sauce; it a had a pinch of the numbing peppers. Strong vinegar flavor; filling was great, overall good. My friend wasn't a fan of the boiled dumpling part. The duck was really good, just as good as I had remembered at the Bamboo House. So for the new name, the duck and dumplings are what to get. Every time we come back to the Dallas area there are always a delightful new array of restaurants to try! Seeing a place that specializes in just Peking duck we had to try it as part of our holiday festivities. The interior is nicely designed and the wait staff is very patient and courteous. Parking is also very easy as it's attached to a strip mall with other attractions to check out. As part of their soft opening they're offering 15% off entire orders with reviews of any rating. We order a whole duck for 4 people which was the right amount to share. The duck is brought out in halves. The skin was very crispy and the duck was carved very nicely as there were no bones in our servings. The duck broth soup was very light and you can tell the duck was carved as close to the bone as there really was no meat left on the bones in the soup, indicating a good bone stock. We did order another serving of pancakes which was an extra cost but I think it was worth it. One thing I do wish is the pancakes were easier to peel apart. A few of them tear in the process and you have to use two hands to peel which can be a hassle for thought who might be a little more impatient. read more

*Note: this is a soft opening so I hope to come back once it is open officially* This is the restaurant that took over Bamboo House, which was a restaurant I loved to go to! Initial thoughts: menu is much, much slimmer than before. There were a lot of staple items that we loved that aren't offered anymore. The other note about the menu is that, other than duck and dumplings, much of the menu is very western-influenced (e.g., crab rangoons, orange chicken, etc). Take it how you will haha. Well, the overall experience was fine, but we came to eat duck and they ran out. We came around 8pm when the restaurant closed at 9pm. Maybe the advice is to come earlier next time? We got xlbs (xiao long bao/soup dumplings) as well. Skin was good - no breakage and it was thin (there are a ton of xlb places with terrible/fat skin). Verdict: it's not bad, but the soup in the soup dumplings has a strong sesame oil and white pepper taste, which overwhelmed the soup dumpling a bit and is not the authentic flavor. Better xlbs: Shanghai Taste in Plano. Overall, not too bad but not the best. We also got the beef noodle soup! Soup was a bit salty and the beef was okay - some parts were tough and some parts were tender. Noodles were pretty good! Better beef noodle soup: King's Noodle in Richardson and Taipei Station Cafe in Plano. The dry noodle with pork and eggplant was solid though!
