He is too eager to send me away. He might fix only if I knew exactly what the issue was and what part needs to be replaced.

Ken was great! They were shortstaffed and 1 hour to closing, but he was still willing to squeeze in my smog check even though he already had his last smog check of the day scheduled. Friendly service and everything was completed in a timely manner. Will definitely recommend read more

Great service!!!!!! Customer for 15 years. Ryan is outstanding and everyone is very helpful and professional.

I went to Car Tek for a routine smog check, and wow, what great service! Ryan greeted me at the front desk with personality and a smile, inviting me to be comfortable while I waited (socially distanced, of course). Before I knew it, my car was done and I was on my way. Different people who came in while I waited all seemed to be loyal regulars. I'll definitely be back. Thanks, Ryan and Team!! read more

I am not the type to take the time to write a review but the service @ Car Tek warrants it. I was a 1st-time customer coming in to get a smog check, I knew of an existing issue so I showed Ken before he started any work. Ken was completely honest with me noting that my car would not pass with this issue. He ordered the part to be delivered within the next 30 minutes and was gracious enough to put the new part in for me at NO CHARGE zero labor. Found my new shop. thanks read more

I was sent to Car Tek after my car failed Smog. I was emotional because the answers were unknown. When I arrived I was greeted with a smile, and a knowledgeable mechanic that took the time to explain the process. While I waited, every person that came in was greeted and treated like family. I then returned to Dublin Car Tek after hearing a weird noise, trusting in the fact that I was again greeted and Treated like family, they found the source and they even looked around and took care of some other issues. I cannot brag enough that you can trust your getting a good honest understanding of your car, it's issues, fair prices and above quality service! read more

Definitely coming back for the service. Despite the last minute walk in during the Holiday hours!!! Tim and his team were very professional, understanding, and offered to actually help. Thank you and now we are able to drive to Tahoe today. (Came in for headlight replacement). read more

My daughters car had a burnt out bulb in the rear. I tried doing it myself but it was a blind install and huge pain in the butt. I finally gave up and brought it to cartek. They took me in right away and started working it. I stayed and watched. He was having the same struggle as me but got it done. When I went to pay, they said pay me what you think is fair. I can't remember the amount but it was pretty generous. I was really impressed that they didn't try to gouge me. I'll definitely use them again!!! read more

Great service here. Was helped by Ryan. Helped me find what was exactly wrong with my Nissan Altima. Also repaired the window on my Mazda, next day service, didn't steer me wrong on prices and kept it honest. The appreciation there especially when it comes to car repair is monumental. Never can tell who exactly who can trust. Great place here at Car Tek. read more

It's quite rare I would call an auto repair spot a gem. That being said, I'm glad to have found this gem. Even though we are enduring some stressful times, the gentlemen of Car Tek were readily to assist me with a smile and take care of my smog check. I've got to thank Ryan for his excellent service and the mechanic who completed the check quickly. I'd advise anyone to call in and schedule an appointment to avoid a bottleneck for this place-help make their lives a bit easier. read more

Had a possible radiator / thermostat problem. The staff took the car in and did various testing and monitoring over the course of 2 days. In the end, there was nothing found, but I was advised of other items that were over due to be done. The service was great! I had various fluid services done and left there with great piece of mind at a very reasonable price for all that was done. Jim H read more

My son had a spin out that broke some of his front suspension. Was referred to Car Tek and I couldn't be happier. Not only did they fix it better than new, they also worked with me as we were leaving for vacation for a week (Thanksgiving) and held the car until we returned. I would highly recommend this place as they are very courteous and knowledgeable and do not look to gouge their customers. read more

Finally found a place to take my car that doesn't add on hidden/undisclosed costs. Unlike GoodYear and Jiffy Lube this place operates with utmost integrity. Shane was the person who took care of all of my concerns and got my car in and out of service in the timeline he quoted and the highlight was estimate was accurate. Love this place! read more

I requested a quote initially via yelp and Tim got back to me in a very timely manner. I let them know what I thought the problem was (I am not the greatest with cars but have basic knowledge) and he got back to me with a few items that could be causing me issues. From there it was smooth sailing. Once I got to the location, Alan was extremely helpful and was VERY forthright in what he thought was wrong and the work he would do on the vehicle (no funny games whatsoever). I was in and out in a little over an hour and the issue was resolved. He gave me some pointers on what to expect in terms of service going forward which was very helpful. Strongly recommend consulting this place if you are located in the area. Knowledgeable and friendly staff! read more

We brought our cars here when we first moved to CA since we needed our cars smog tested among other things. The prices here are high compared to other local shops, but the service is what you pay for. Dealer quality work for less. They are very honest and don't BS you. We had our cars smog tested and 1 of them failed due to gas cap. The guy left fast to pick us up a brand new one and made one of our cars pass because of it. I was nervous about my other car since it was partially modified. I did some research prior to moving out here and found that some mechanics are really petty if you have anything modified on your car in hopes you will have your car repaired there/make you spend more. Thankfully they were reasonable about the gray area parts (the parts that don't need to be CARB exempt but is up to the mechanic's discretion) and didn't haggle me for CARB exemption numbers on other legal parts I had (they didn't have CARB stickers on them). The work was done in a reasonable amount of time. Like previously mentioned, the customer service was great. The guy was very friendly, straight forward and up front about stuff. If I was ASE certified, I would work here. This is the best auto shop to go to if you can afford the cost (i.e. oil change is $40 here, but you can find them for $20-30 ish). A lot of car shops will &*%# you on your bill saying all kinds of things are going to need to replaced (i.e. firestone) and give you the speech (i.e. in the worst case scenerio the belt will snap and the engine will need to be replaced. (Hell, in the worst case scenerio I wouldn't be alive to type this!)) The guys here will provide you with honest explanations of why parts need to be replaced or answer your questions honestly and even provide you with tips if you ask for them. read more

No way will I ever go here again! I took my car in to get smog tested. The "check engine" light was on when I took it in, (stupid me, didn't know that was an automatic fail),they tested it anyway and flunked it because the "check engine" light was on and charged me full price. OK, I'm stupid for not knowing about the light, but THEY know better and should have told me. I call that dishonest, and look for a little more when choosing an auto mechanic. If you choose them, I hope they're nicer to you. read more

Sam probably don't know much about his car cause he probably had all those problems. This place tells it like it is. I went there for a oil with $5 coupon (cheapest oil change within the area). They did tell me I needed a new air filter, transmission & steering wheel oil change which I already knew I had to change because it was due but they didn't pressure me to get it. They just told me to come back when I'm ready ($$ wise). Getting 4 stars because of time. It took 45 mins to change the oil where if I went across the parking lot to RyNck or Quality across the street it could've been done in 30 mins for more money! I like these guys! read more

Hardest working shop in town! This team is knowledgeable, reasonable and fast. They actually explained that a few of the services I thought I needed weren't actually due and recommended I focus on the safety concerns first. Ryan can get even the most obscure parts delivered within hours so the work can begin. Definitely coming back for our next service. read more

Fantastic shop with people who care. I definitely found my new go-to spot for car maintenance needs. Everyone who works here is helpful and they legitimately care about doing the right thing for their customers. There is no better place to take your car when you need service done on it then car tek. I've known Tim and his Dad since he opened the first Chevron Full service gas Station on 7007 San Ramon Road, Dublin, CA. I am sad to report that the charging system in my car is broken again, 9 months after having it fixed at Car Tek. Since I paid over $300 for the first repair at Car Tek, I called to ask if the work was under warranty, and they said they could probably do something for me if I could bring it in... unfortunately, my car cannot drive the 2 hrs required to get it back to Car Tek since the car is no longer charging the battery. I asked if they had any partners in the Sacramento area that I could work with to get it repaired and they said no. No other assistance was offered in getting my car repaired a second time. Given this turn of events, I would no longer recommend getting your car serviced at Car Tek, unless you live within towing distance of their facility. read more

When I went out to my car this morning to start my day I went to turn the key and I had nothing. I called up Car Tek and was helped by Shane. He gave me the number for a local tow company that they use. The tow company showed up promptly and my car was taken to Car Tek. Shane advised me that there was no need to ride with the car and that they would do a diagnostic upon arrival. Not 30 mins after the car left I get a call from Shane and tells me that my starter needed to be replaced. He advised me that it would be ready by the afternoon. I couldn't believe that they had it done by 3. Excellent customer service and to boot they got me ready so quickly and honestly my car has never run as good as it has after they completed their work. Do yourself and go see these guys for all your automotive needs! Great job! Simply the best. read more

Went in begrudgingly to get my car fixed, left with a huge smile on my face. Ryan was so incredibly friendly, and made me feel welcome from the moment I stepped in the door. My co-worker told me the place was amazing so I checked it out. Was not disappointed. I had a great conversation with Ryan, he was very genuine, incredibly knowledgeable, and had awesome values. Found this place on Yelp. I was hoping to find a place that did not cost as much to do an oil change as at the Pleasanton Lexus. I dropped off my car for an oil change with a $5 coupon off, and the total came up to be $40 and cents. Took about 45 minutes for the service. They do take appointments so the wait could be less if you call in. read more

Just took my 03 Taurus back in for its 60k Service. With the coupon on the website it was only $389, and the same service at the dealership is $585.00. Going to Car Tek you get the normal savings of $200 less than the dealership, but I also saved big by taking Ryan's advice. The guys were quick and did a great job. When I first brought my car over in February Ryan advised me of a small drip in the oil pan. I had just purchased the car and was ready to spend the money to get it in tip top shape. Ryan advised me to hold off and said he would monitor it, that it wasn't worth it to spend the money just yet. This saved me a TON of cash, because now at 60k miles I still don't need to replace it. I drive close to 30k miles a year, and it is great knowing that Car Tek is looking out for my best interest and keeping my car in tip top shape. I live in San Jose now, but I won't take my car anywhere else. P.S. While I was waiting for my car I overheard one of the mechanics tell Ryan that the rear brakes of one of the cars they were working on were perfectly fine, and didn't need to be replaced. The customer had been told by their dealership to replace all the brakes. When they came to Car Tek they beat the price by $200 bucks and took the job. So they were already saving the guy money. They easily could have just replaced the brakes and the customer would have been happy. Instead they called the customer and advised the customer to hold off on the rear brakes and just get the front, saving them even more money. THIS HONESTY IS WHY I WON'T TAKE MY CAR ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

Great place. Recently got a smog check and an oil change. Very straightforward business delivered with a positive attitude from all the workers at the shop. Ryan was very helpful and well mannered and explained processes with simplicity and common verbage (considering I know nothing about mechanical talk). Service was fast and affordable. Best rates from what I had seen while shopping around quite a bit. No reason to go anywhere else. Had so many bad experiences elsewhere, I'm not even going to think about that. This will forever be the place I go for service, I highly recommend you do the same. 5 Star Service! read more

In response to "SamuraiPa l. Dublin, CA" Thats the law. There is no way for California to rate the sucess or failure of their Emissions Program, without knowing what vehicles pass, and *what vehicles fail*. For any reason. The check engine light's function AND status are part of the smog check as described by california state law, just as the exhaust emissions themselves. They are legally held to completely test all aspects of your emissions system. If they bounced you for your check engine light you may never have known you had another issue either. How many trips do you want to take to repair shops to get your car fixed, smogged and registered? If you think breaking the law for the price of one smog check, or to save the customer the price of a smog check (which was often customary before these new smog laws) is worth losing the capability of doing emissions testing at their facility and or losing their buisness liscense all together; is worth it, you are sorely mistaken. The only issue I see is in Dublin Car Tek not being able to help you understand this. But as hard as one tries, this just isnt always possible. read more

They are Diamond Certed, and accept Yelp, a lot of courage for small Biz's to do. Ryan Tue Mgr on duty is careful and not just thrown to thrown to the wolves and listens to get your input about the issue your vehicle is experiencing. A bit on the expensive side, bit you get what you apt for quality service. Giving that extra mile to us as customers, may just make difference for where we repair at. They try to get your vehicle back out on the road again asap, depending on the part companies/drivers. Very reliable and good place to go. read more

Went in kinda last min. I had an hour for lunch and needed to have a smog check from a "star" station. Not sure what the difference is between star vs. Standard smog check, but in any case it costs more. Went in and asked if they could do a star smog check. They took me right then and it took about 30min. Pretty cool for last min request. Car passed smog, and I left a satisfied customer. Nice technician and friendly service. read more

It's terrific to have the peace of mind knowing that you will always get excellent customer service and when leaving your vehicle the job will be professionally done right the 1st. time and without the pressure of " up-selling " repairs. They will call you with updates regarding repairs and if additional work is recommended you can rest assured that it is a valid suggestion. Gotta tell you, you can't go wrong at Dublin Car Tek. Been going there years now and they always come through with fair, clear, no nonsense diagnoses and fixes. Most recently, they had to take my car to the dealership for computer programming. I previously got an estimate for the work at the same dealership but didn't include the same level of troubleshooting. Ryan and his team did way more analysis than the dealer even considered, and made sure I needed the recommended work. They dealt with the dealership. I paid the same amount as the dealership estimate and got way more detailed evaluation and diagnosis. This team is amazing! read more
