I went today for the first time. Called around all the other places first and got quoted around $88-89 for the smog I needed, but this place only charged me $70.25 after applying the coupon online and using my credit card. My car is a sedan so I didn't have to pay the SUV or luxury surcharge, but if you have one of those it'll cost more. The check out guy Russell is nice and helpful. These days it's hard to find young people who can look you in the eye and have a conversation without staring at their cell phones even once. I'm impressed. Good job Smog Shop for hiring someone like him! read more

Great quick service. Called other places and they didn't either do smogs on weekends or were crazy expensive. They had a coupon right on their website. I waited about 15 min and paid cash. Russ was very helpful with the checkout process and Ricardo was very kind to help me figure out what to since I was very unprepared with my stuff as we had just moved and had no idea where my paper work was. Great place will highly recommend them to my friends and family. Great service and not a long wait! read more

Very friendly service. Easy to get to your smog check service done here. Just pull up and wait inside your car. The technician will wave at you to drive up when it's your turn. When you're done, you pay and that's all. The smog certificate and result is sent electronically to DMV by the shop. read more

Went today for a Smog check on my 2018 minivan. I've been here more than a few times for different cars I have. They are not the cheapest around, but always got fast service and clear pricing. However, today, I was 4th in line so had to wait quite a long time compared to usual, not their fault. But due to a pricing fairness issue that happened, never before, just today... I left thinking I'm not sure I'll bother coming out so far from home to this place anymore. If your still reading... Here's why. The cashier today was not the usual lady, but a tall slim young man with long hair. I gave him my paperwork and 2 different coupons I had. I asked which coupon would give me the lower price; he said it was a 50 cent difference between them. Fine, give me the better one, but he didn't. At the end, I noticed he used the coupon that was not better. Lastly, once it was time to pay... he showed me the breakdown & final amount. He had included a card payment fee and had card reader cued up for me. But I had $100 bill in my hand and told him I am trying avoid the $2.35 card fee that is on the price breakdown. He said no problem as I waited for him to redo the invoice and print another one. The price dropped 50 cents. I told him that the card fee is showing more than that. He said no it isn't and still charged me more than what was right. This place charges a pretty high fee for Smog checks, esp. if you don't have a coupon. Plus, they tack on $20 extra for being a Star Certified required. Yet, this guy wants to charge me a few dollars extra on top of their normal price. I hope shop owners monitor reviews here and somehow stay aware of what their employees might be doing. read more

Fast and friendly service, the guys are helpful and efficient. You're in and out pretty quickly. Coupon was honored, the price was fair. I happened to get there when no one other customers were there, so things went fast and they were organized and all ready to go. By the time I was leaving, there were three customers waiting their turns. I just lucked out with the timing which enhanced my visit. read more

The service itself was fine, however when I went to pay and include a $30-off coupon I had found on their website, I was denied the discount. The tech first said the coupon was for "cash payments only". When I pointed to a second coupon that stated "$30 off credit card purchases", he stated that since I had not told him I had the coupon before he wrote the bill of sales/estimate, he couldn't apply the discount. Nowhere on the coupon does it state you have to declare you're using a coupon (from their website) before the estimate is given. Oh well...There's plenty of other smog shops around. read more

Just wait in your car in the parking lot until it's your turn for the smog test. They'll call you when they're ready. After that, you simply step into the waiting area while they perform the test, which takes about 15 minutes. The price is very reasonable, and the overall customer experience is excellent. read more

I usually don't write reviews but writing this so the next person doesn't waste their afternoon. The coupon and the "$31.75" language on their site are the hook. Once you show up, you wait in your car in the parking lot for 45 minutes to an hour before anyone talks price with you. Then come the surcharges: $20 for SUV, $20 for luxury, $20 for hybrid, $20 for out-of-state, $20 for STAR-directed, plus the state cert fee. They stack. A car that looked like a $31.75 job on the coupon can land in the $80-$160 range depending on which boxes it ticks -- and you don't find that out until you've already committed the time. Their "$30 off with credit card" line is worth calling out too: they run two entirely different price sheets for cash and card, so the "discount" comes off an inflated base. It's not a discount, it's a way to make the coupon sound better than it is. If they simply posted the real, all-in price a car like yours would pay, this would be an ordinary transaction. Instead the whole setup seems built around keeping that number hidden until you're too far in to walk. Read the other 1-star reviews. Same story over and over: advertised price, long wait, final bill 2-3x what you expected, pushback goes nowhere. Do yourself a favor: call any other smog station in the area, get an all-in quote for your specific vehicle, and I bet you'd go there instead. read more

SCAMMERS!! I took my Lexus SUV over to get a smog check because I got a coupon thinking it would only $60. $31.75+8.25+$20 extra since my car is a luxury and SUV. But they say they have to charge $20 for every thing your car has listed. I'm reporting this place to the Bureau of Automotive repair because they are scammers! Demonte was the "manager on duty" and scams his customers. Don't go to this place! I event asked Gemini before I went to get on to make sure I wouldn't get scammed and it agreed with me getting scamed. read more

I picked a rather busy day but all went smoothly. I'm awful at backing in but the gentleman was so nice and handled that for me. I think it's normal to cross your fingers and hope it passes. They have a nice waiting room so your thoughts are calmer. The price was very fair and again the staff was extremely customer focused. Maybe all the smog shops use hidden up charges for a smog test. These people charge additional $20 for luxury car, another $20 for an older car (2015)....and other conditions. They make the call LOL. And retest fee if not passed first time. So be alert when getting a smog test from this place.......and prepare to pay 3 times the advertised price. read more

Made an appointment online. Get there and was told they don't make appointments online. Great neighborhood shop...been getting smog done here for years. Competitive prices and quick and easy! Highly recommend!

Suspect owner and employees upcharge from advertised prices and upcharge $159.95 for most vehicles despite "cash coupon price" so they avoid paying taxes and rip the public off. STAY AWAY unless you want to be ripped off. read more

I was surprised that they charged an extra $20 for a hybrid. Another place I looked at only changed $10. And they didn't honor a $29.95 coupon I had instead saying that a new one came out that was for $31.95, even though mine didn't have an expiration date on it. This place was closer to me which was nice, but I probably would have saved about $15 if I used a Groupon for a Hayward smog check place instead. read more

Total bait-and-switch. I came in with their Valpak coupon for a $31.75 Smog Check (Cash Offer). My car is an Acura RDX, so per the fine print, I expected a $20 "SUV/Luxury" upcharge plus the $8.25 State Certificate. Instead, despite paying in CASH, they ignored the advertised cash special entirely. With the certificate, they charged me $80.00. They essentially overcharged me by $20 by "stacking" fees and ignoring their own advertised cash price. If you have an SUV or a "luxury" brand stay away. They will find a way to make sure you pay double the advertised price. I will be reporting this deceptive advertising to the Bureau of Automotive Repair. read more

This is a place for a rip off. Number one they don't disclose their prices on each car and tell you to sit in your car and wait. Then when it's your turn they will charge you an arm and a leg without any discounts that they advertise on their website. The lady who works at the register is a piece of work. No understanding or respect whatsoever. She feels entitled and is very rude. If you want your blood boil visit this shop read more

False advertising and bait-and-switch tactics by A Smog company. They advertised a cash deal coupon for $31.75 plus an $8.25 certificate. When I called to verify and described my small vehicle, I was quoted a total of $60, to be paid in cash. However, upon arrival, the price was increased to $80 cash. This discrepancy, despite my small car and the initial verification, indicates dishonest practices and false advertising. I find this approach unacceptable and prefer to support local, honest businesses. The experience was unpleasant and waste of my time. read more

Micro-manage much? I felt like a 7 year old under the disapproving stare of my parent when I was a kid just being a kid. I barely parked my car and the manager came out and asked me to correct my parking as I wasn't within the lines (guilty!). It got worse. I got scolded to taking a look at the smog check screen while my car was being smogged (guilty!) and was also asked more than once to hang out inside the waiting room (guilty with an explanation: I opted to hang out outside when the technician could not figure out how to turn off my car alarm). Aside my from less than satisfactory interaction with the manager, my smog check went well. Damonte multi-tasked smogging my car and another car in the 2 bay shop and got it done. Note this shop has online coupons and a USPS mail marketing campaign offering a discount for returning customers. In other words, no need to pay posted prices. Google is a friend to your wallet/purse. Smog certificate price is separate from smog check price (standard no matter which shop you go to) and an unannounced 3% upcharge if you pay via credit card that I noticed on my receipt after payment. I smogged an Acura but didn't get dinged on a luxury tax other Yelp reviewers complained about. I've had multiple cars previously smogged at this shop but might look elsewhere the next time around. To me, customer service is equally important as the service itself. read more

Demonte did the smog on my car. Came in when they opened on a Friday morning and Demonte started work on my car right away. Before starting, he told me the price upfront so there were no questions or problems after the smog was done. I brought in a coupon for $29 (NOTE the fine print... +10 for SUV, +10 for hybrid, etc. and as always the CA certificate fee is always separate so +8) but I ended up paying close to 60. Which is great compared to the other shops in the area. People seem to get upset when they think it's 29 out the door but they clearly didn't read the coupon details. Either way, I'd go back to this place as Demonte explained everything to me very clearly and completed the job quickly! read more

This is our go-to establishment when we need any of our vehicles smog checked. I visited twice in the last couple of months and the service remains top notch, the process fair and efficient, and the value decent. I paid $38 for my car (with Yelp coupon) - they charge $10-$20 more for out of state and for large vehicles. Since they do smog check only (no repairs) there is no incentive for them to find something wrong, which gives me peace of mind. I'll be back! Pro-tip: There are several shady spots right opposite the smog check station - back into one of these so you can pull right up when it's your turn. There are also a couple of comfy chairs in the parking lot, where I like to sit and either people watch or read a book if there are many cars ahead of me. read more

They send out coupons for $30 but there are multiple up charges including extra $20 for trucks, Jeep, etc. Also tried to charge another $20 for change of ownership (never heard of). Don't believe the $31 price, this is False Advertising They make sure that you wait in line (they do not have 3 stations nor 3 techs ready to service you, as advertised). Then once you finally get to your turn, they have you wait in car (so you can't check prices) then you pull your car in to their service bay, then they allow you to finally go to the office to hear of the price. That office guy then will jokingly tell you they have a $40 upcharge for your type of vehicle and smog. Then after done, the tech will insult you with a passive aggressive "you're welcome", if you don't talk to him as you leave! They have it backwards, they are supposed to thank their customers for giving them business, there is a smog shop on every corner, don't be fooled by their coupon, you won't get out of their without multiple upcharges and no less than $80 for a $31 advertisement. Go where they are upfront and honest on prices. read more

I've been coming to this shop for years. Today, something changed! Instead of charging a Luxury $20 premium the attendant charged me an "Exotic" car fee of $124!!! A Smog Shop - Sign posted in the business office - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Pleasanton, California

Found Smog Shop on Yelp search. I called and was quoted a price. Very confusing to find. You drive to the rear and wait until your motioned to drive in. Then you walk through the garage part Into a very small waiting room where you wait for your test results. Same person that's does the testing rings you up or at least that happened with me. I was then charged 10.00 more. I did Yelp check in which gave a substantial discount but it was still expensive. I advised the employee of this and he said I was not quoted correctly. I could have gone to a closer smog place for the same price. There were no extra additions for my car that the person on the phone missed. Straight forward smog. They were fast probably 20 minutes total Wait time but I did not appreciate the misinformation on the price. Won't be returning. read more
