Professional and quick service! Tuesday morning I was looking for a smog check close to the Pleasanton DMV. The first place I called said in their voicemail that they didn't have an available appointment for five weeks (???). Had a good experience here getting a smog check. My Mini Cooper had some issues with its computer in relation to the catalytic converter and they directed me on how to reset it so the smog check would clear. Fair price and didn't charge me twice since I had to come back and redo the check after the computer reset. read more

I remember back in 1991, as a new driver, needing a SMOG on my 1986 Pontiac Grand Am. I went to Montgomery Wards Automotive over on Dublin Blvd. for a smog. They should be reputable, right? Well, failed the smog test. Montgomery Wards said give us $100 and we'll look at it in a few hours and then when we find what's wrong, that will be additional. Okay, they are the experts. So a walked over to the barber shop for a haircut. While there, I laid out my woes. When someone heard that they said, "hey, why don't you go try the Smog Station". "Smog Station?", I asked - "never heard of it, but okay." After my haircut, walked back to Montgomery Wards, told them I had to run back home real quick, could I take my car, please (didn't want to lose my place in line). Took the car over to the Smog Station. I think Troy was the guy that helped me. He asked if the car was cold when they tested it? I just had a blank stare... He said go run it hard down to the end of the street and back. So I did. He looked under the hood - found a tube missing from my air/carb thingie, replaced it for like $6 or so, smogged the car, and passed without issue. WOW. Went back to Montgomery Wards, told them I passed elsewhere, and wanted a refund which they reluctantly provided due to the 100% satisfaction guarantee. From that moment on, I went to the Smog Station, except a brief period of time when they moved and I didn't know where they went (the city redid the street they were on and took over the buildings or something forcing the Smog Station to move. Fast Forward to 2022 - ran my 2014 MDX in there for a Smog. Bang, Boom, POW! Done. Same fast service, same good price, same guy Troy (Troy didn't do mine, another nice young man did). So glad they are still around. It's where you should take your car for a Smog. read more

The place is somewhat tricky to find - you maneuver around some auto dealers and follow the sign into a one-way road located on an industrial complex with trucks and forklifts moving around. At the very end of the road you'll find a hangar-like structure - that would be Smog Station. I was the first one in. Customer service was friendly and attentive. Their waiting room was huge and had interesting decorations of various signs, license plates, photos, etc. They had a huge flat-screen TV playing ESPN, and a large parakeet chirping to keep things interesting. They were also good about letting you use their restroom. I was out in about 15 minutes. They aren't the cheapest Smog Check place I been to, but they were the closest to my location at the time and got the job done. I noticed they do have print coupons from time to time - maybe next time they'll have them on Yelp like other places. read more

Ok, so I got an Acura that had been hot rodded out by the fast and furious crowd... I took it to my usual smog guy and he tells me the PCV (whatever that is...) is disconnected and that it failed miserably. No referral, no help no suggestions, just pay and leave now I've got other cars to smog. My friend and neighbor told me I should take the car here. They know what they're doing. So I do. I brought the car in, Matt looked it over and re-connected the PCV (Whew!) then tested it and it passed no problem. he even told me that if I replaced the thermostat, it would run even cleaner. I was sure I was looking at a major bill to get this fixed... They didn't even charge me anything extra for the diagnosis and fix. Who does that these days?!!
