Called the number on Google map before coming here on a Saturday morning. The person who answered the phone was able to verified the cost of our hybrid car smog test with $30 coupon that I found from the Pleasanton Weekly magazine. His quote was accurate which we appreciate. The staff arrived a bit late than the open time 9:30 but they were able to get the test done within 20min so we are pretty satisfied. Brought my Acura MDX in for a smog check, and the smog check went well and only took a few minutes. My complaint is that the shop charged me $73 for the smog check even with a "$30 off posted price" coupon I downloaded from its website. The posted price for a smog check turned out to be $94.75. It's my fault for not checking the posted prices and not walking out when I was quoted the $64.75 plus $8.25 cost, but I still feel that the price was exorbitant. I had limited time and needed to get the check done then, or else I WOULD have walked out. Accordingly, I can't recommend this shop for smog tests. read more

Overall, 4.5 out of 5, I've been coming to this place off and on for about 8 yrs so basically 2 or three times and I've never had a major complaint about this place or about the staff. I'll admit years ago, it took me a few times driving by to find the place so it is sort of in the back corner of this automotive repair spot. But, I've rarely had to wait beyond a single person and is usually in and out. I'll admit, at least to me once the other car repair place is open and there cars or deliveries in the area, it does feel very cramp so I opt to try and hit them first thing in the morning to hopefully avoid the crowds. read more

It was a Saturday morning and it seemed all the places nearby had increased their prices. I saw on the website there was a coupon for a smog check that would bring the total about $45. I decided to just drive there and wait if needed. I probably only waited 15 minutes since there was someone they were finishing up before me. This shop is horrendous. Go elsewhere PLEASE. MY wife and I took her car there for a smog. It failed because the car needed to be driven more after a repair was made on the car. We were told to bring back the receipt and paperwork from that day to pay just $30 for a recheck. We went there the next weekend for the retest the car. We arrived there around 230pm. The store was supposed to be open until 430pm. Instead the shop was closed. Super unprofessional. I called the shop and someone said we could go to their San Ramon location (which we couldn't do since we had to leave town). No apology, no explanation. We wasted over half an hour for nothing. My wife tried to go to the following weekend after that. ANTHONY was super rude and argumentative. He told my wife that the paperwork my wife had (which is all she received when the car failed) wasn't the right color, and that he had to dig up a different document before he could retest. It was not our fault another employee gave us the wrong copy. So they wanted more time and didn't honor what the other employee said to us on our first visit. I called him, and he was rude to me on the phone as well. To be punished for his employee's error was unreal. read more

This place is horrible. I went to get a smog and they tried to charge me 138.00 for a smog and A smog should be no more than $70.00. I went down the road to Dublin smog test and laid $50.00. The guy that worked today called the cops on me because I asked to speak with the owner regarding the price and he snapped. Description: I took my car in after getting a new Catalytic Convert and knock sensor put in my car. I told the guy doing the test that I had this work done prior to coming in. This means that the check engine light had to be rest after the services were performed. I told him how far I drove the car and was not sure if the system had rest. I told him all this while he was getting ready to perfprm the smog. He acted like he checked it to see if yhe system had rest and he did not and failed me due to that fact. All he had to do was tell me to take it for a drive to get more miles to have it reset instead failed me to get another 50.00 for the re test. I have all the reciepts of the work that was done and I was upfront with him about how far it was drove before even doing the test. I told him I would be giving him a bad review for trying to scam me if he tried charging additional $50.00 he said he wouuld not finish the test... These guys are a scam! read more

The place can be easily missed since you have to turn into this short narrow street. It's basically a one way street. Good luck backing out if the parking lot is full. The shop is at the very end and it is very small. I went because I saw a Yelp Check-In offer for $39.95. Like any other yelp check in offers I was expecting to use it immediately. I was wrong. For some reason or another, the man at the counter was adamant that I write a review first before getting to use it. Even though the app says "use within 3 hrs. Show to shop employee". How in the world can I write a review if I haven't even gotten the service yet? There was definitely a miscommunication with the staff on how to deal with Yelp coupons which was very frustrating. Finally, seeing my frustration and confusion the man agreed to give me a different coupon. He wasn't happy to do it and I don't know why. Clearly, there are coupons out there and 99% use them. I went here for my last smog with no issues. I was expecting the same service this time. After the rough start however, my smog was completed in 25min and he did give me an even better deal for $37.95 plus an electronic delivery to DMV. So, thank you. read more

Super fast service - came in on a Saturday morning and had to wait about 15 minutes total, but they got it done. Be sure to look out for coupons. I had a pre-1999 vehicle, so the cost was a bit more, but a few extra $$ is worth it for the quick service. This place is a scam. They won't refund your money and are very rude. Don't bother coming here. I had fixed my misfire and scanned the car, the scanner showed no codes and all monitors ready for smog. Again I scanned the car right before I drive here. The tech must of pulled the o2 sensor then scanned the car showing a code instantly. He then billed me and said the car wasn't ready. I was very confused. I got home and scanned the car again and it showed a code and a few monitors not ready for smog. I instantly called him and accused him of messing with the O2 sensor and he denied it. I told him I know how to scan a car and now that I got home there is a code and the monitors aren't ready. He denied doing anything but said drive it and I can come back and re test for another 30 bucks. So essentially they charge you 50, make the car pull a code by simply removing a sensor wire, then tell you drive it and come back and pay more for another attempt. Very crooked bunch. Needless to say I drove the car allot and did not fix anything on it , took it to another shop and it passed with flying colors. I of course scanned the car again to ensure all monitors were ready. Photos attached of how my scanner looked after they touched the car. Wouldn't even give me a refund! Of course I'll wait till the very last day to get a required smog check to register my car. And of course, I'd do it on my lunch break BEFORE a scheduled meeting. Similar review to their sister store, Except the driveway is kind of a pain to get in/out of. There is always a van parked on Dougherty that blocks your line of sight to pull out of the lot. There also tends to be LOTS of people waiting in line here. Go to their SR/Livermore location, as I have rarely seen more than 1 person there. (There were 5 waiting the last time I was there. Honest! Fair Prices! They don't try to pull any shenanigans! I think they are family owned. Came in and needed to wait a couple of minutes before starting on my car. Mentioned I checked in on yelp and got the $40 out of the door pricing. Overall guys seemed to be friendly and they give you a good deal if you ask. It is a small shop but waiting room is clean with a few magazines. For a test only station it is pretty nice. Location is somewhat hidden since it is at the end of the plaza and there is another smog station closer to the street. Make sure you drive to the last station to get you car looked at. Overall took 10 mins, to complete the check. These guys are fast. I will be back again. read more

Went to Quality Tune up next door who was advertising smog checks for $25 plus $8, needed a smog and oil check done. Had done research and also had a coupon for this place , Discount Smog Center for the same price. Quality said they would do the oil but not the smog, strange had to go next door for the smog. Guy there wouldn't honor the coupon said there were "other fees and total was going to be $45. I argued a bit but no go. I said I have other coupons at home one for$16 plus $8 and one for $19 plus $8 cert fee. He said they all charge extra like they do it was $45, pretty curt so I said no thanks and left. Went down the street to another place (Shell at Hopyard and W Las Postias) with coupon in hand they honored the price and it was $28 out the door no hassle no "curtness" or attitude. I usually never write any reviews, but this place takes the cake. Unfortunately I can't give it zero star. Do not take your car to Dougherty Road Smog place because unless your car is in perfect condition without any issues. They will fail you and charge you if anything is not perfect and all they would say you have to get it figured out. They failed my car because they stated that it was missing emission label and missing a ERG. First of all the car doesn't come with a ERG and second emission label cannot be replaced per Ford dealership because if it's 13 years and older. You would think that a smog place would already know that before starting the smog and failing it, then charge you $79 with the $30 coupon. That's $109 for a smog, very expensive compared to most smog places in the area. Do your research before going there. The only reason why we went to this place was that my smog shop was closed on vacation and we just sold the car and needed smog. All they care is about making money and having you do the work to verify something that the car doesn't even come with. They caused a huge headache because we went to this shop. I guess if your car is pretty new and will pass without any issues, I guess you can take a chance. But if you have any issues, their customer service doesn't exist and they will charge you. They are very rube and will not help you. Business place like this should not exist. At least have some knowledge before sending your customers away to find out everything they tell why the car failed was not correct. My mistake for sending my son here to get the car smog. But if I can save someone else with what I had to deal with, it will be worth it. Like I said, at least do your research before going to this pace. read more

Shady bunch of folks who have no idea what they are doing. First, if you don't have a coupon or promo code you are overpaying by at least $60. 2nd, they always quote a lower price on the phone than is available anywhere else. Last, they really have no idea what they are doing. I took my truck here for a quick smog and it didn't pass. The thing is they didn't tell me it didn't pass. Even after I paid they just asked if I new a mechanic who could look at the EVAP. After I finally figured out it didn't pass I took it to this awesome shop across the street (Dublin Car Tek), they ran it through the smog and EVAP and everything passed. Apparently these jokers have already been shut down several times for scamming people and they keep opening up under a different name. Due to COVID, I did not drive in a while and had to replace battery. Apparently it wiped some data from the engine chip or something. So when I went to Dougherty Road Smog, my car failed the test, as the data that was wiped after battery replacement is needed. I still was charged for full test plus STAR surcharge despite the fact they did not do the full test. I got offer for $10 off the re-test. I would not recommend this place read more
